| Nero walked into work and set his things down at his desk. It had been about two weeks that they had this promotion. And it was rather mundane and even more boring than the last job. As he sat down the tall bald William came up to him. "Hey as soon as Samuel gets here its you twos turn to upload the updates. This one is a fairly big upload. So it might take you quite a while. Use this..." He handed him a laptop. "And there is a Ethernet cord in the room. Its down the hall and to the left. You wont mistake it, it has lots of tall tower brackets, with switches and routers all lined up. If you have any questions feel free to come ask me. But I dont think you will have a problem." He said as he patted Nero on the shoulder and walked away before he could give any objections. Though this is exactly what Nero wanted a chance to access the businesses files and programs. Now he just needed to wait on Samuel and they could get started. | |

| Samuel would approach into the door and quickly enter the room. "Hello all." Samuel would say with a jovial smile as he sat down across from Jacob. "Its the big day isn't?" Samuel would ask both of them as he leaned back in his chair. "A long day of being in the broiler room, and updating the server." He would say with a laugh as he looked over too the laptop. "I assume this is the device I am working with? Its got all of the updated patches for the update I assume?" Samuel would ask as he fiddled with his key card. | |

| Jacob gave Samuel a quick glance then quickly returned to his normal gaze. "Yes it is. William says that it will take quite a while. That its a big update. Im sure you know what your doing but im not fully proficient in software patch updates to a large server. So im going to be watching you very closely. Well lets get started, the sooner we begin the sooner get done." He said grabbing hold of the laptop and began to walk out of the room. "Remember come here if you have problems, but only if you completely are lost. I have lots of portfolios that the higher ups want me to do. So those are priority." He said in a way that felt as if he was asked directly. "Dont worry I think we can handle it." He said as he walked down the hall. | |

| Samuel saw the look that Jacob had given him, but he would pretend not to notice it as he picked up the laptop. "Come on Jacob, it is best to not to dawdle on this if its going to take all day." Samuel would say as he quickly left the room and followed down the deserted corridors "Don't worry Jacob, I have the special tailored object that you wanted me to get you." He would say as he would follow him down until they reached the database room. "This place doesn't have a monitoring device, so it should be safe to talk here." Samuel would say as he pulled out a thumb nail drive. "So, what do you want to know in here?" Samuel would say as he booted up the laptop. "So, what do you know here?" Samuel asked. | |

| Jacob went down the hall and once they entered the database room he looked for cameras. But as Samuel said there was none, and that in itself was very foolish. "What I already know is that this place does more than just software. What I want to know is just what. And by what resources, who they get it through. I want to know their entire chain of allies, enemies and possibles of either. Also I need to know every dirty secret this place has got. Can you do that? Cause if you can we can blackmail either them or sell to a competitor. Even get us some nice cushy jobs in this place. What do you think?" HE said as he looked at the screen. Samuel was going to be doing all the hacking. But Jacob would be guiding him as best he could with what he knew. For the most part this was Samuel's show. | |

| Samuel quirked an eyebrow at Jacob. "I'm not going to say that their might be something here, but this is just one subsidiary of Elgoog. I doubt there might be something here that is more substantial. The flash drive though will create a back door program and transfer a copy of the database here to another proxie server that you set up beforehand. I trust you made sure to make sure that it was untraceable. The extra load will just be written off from the big update that we are doing today, but go ahead and get on the other computer over there and monitor the situation, warn me if anything suspicious happens." Samuel would say as he would inserted the drive into the back of the laptop. He would start up the program and started up his hacking program, which would allow him to sending a copy of the database through a stream of dummy sites to make sure that the vast amount of information that was being copied would be as untraceable as possible. "Alright, the copying is going down as normal." Samuel would say as he started the update process. | |

| Jacob walked over to the second laptop in the room. "Im not expecting you to find everything. That was just a basis of what to look for." Jacob then paused for a moment. "Since this is only one part of the server. If I could get to another data room. And patch you through to that server could you get into a wider stream of info? Also just how many data rooms with servers does this place have? I have not been able to investigate as deeply as I wanted to. These low rate job we have barly gives me time to get around. And once work is done I have other matters to attend to that keep me from searching around after hours." | |

| "There are four other server rooms, which each need to be attended too, and they are all connected. Half of the servers deal with the traditional data mining of peoples purchasing habits amongst other things. Its where you get those lovely little junk mail shit telling you about a sale that you will absolutely love. The other part of it handles much of the data stream that comes through East City since Elgoog controls communications." Samuel would say as he pulled up a screen showing that the copying was coming at ten percent. "We are right now copying everything for the standard database that we have right now, along with the search algorithms that they use to mine the internet. We will get a copy of the information that is also flowing through the servers right this moment. I'd need to set up a hardware station, or set up some kind of shadow server to keep current. That takes a lot more energy then what we have right now, but it can at least give us a glimpse of what kind of traffic is going through East City." Samuel would say checking the progress again of the copying. *Thirteen percent, its going to take awhile.* Samuel thought to himself. | |

| "These people are more fool hearty than I thought. They allowed themselves to get so wrapped up in how much they control they have forgotten all about someone coming after them. The idiots." He said as he typed a few commands in the command prompt of the computer. It then linked him to the camera's in the hallways and the work rooms. After a few moments he saw William begin to walk down the hallway towards the room. "Id rather not have him in here right now." He said and got up. "Ill be right back." He spoke and left the room. Once in the hallways he saw William and waved him over. "HEy William just the guy I was looking for." He said with a smile. "Yes I was just coming to see if you two needed help. I figured id better help the new guys." He said with a superior tone. "Well thank you Will. You dont mind if I call you Will do you? But we are doing good in there. Well Samuel is, hes a natural at this stuff. But all the stuff in there makes it kind of hot. Can you show me were I can get a drink?" He said as he put his hand on Williams shoulder turning him around and began walking with him back down the hall. | |

| Samuel just gave a slight smile as Jacob left him to deal with a possible intrusion. *Hope he doesn't get to killing whoever it is.* Samuel thought to himself as he checked the progress. *Twenty-two percent, its going quite a bit faster, but I don't dare to take more bandwidth just in case someone were to wonder why the internal server was slowing down more then usual for a update day.* He thought to himself as he cocked his head to the right and listened to the low hum of computer fans. "Hope Jacob comes back soon. I don't like talking to myself." Samuel said to himself hoping that the demon would come back, so that he could have somebody to talk too. | |

| Jacob walked with William down the hall towards the kitchen area with a coffeemaker and drinks. "Hey thanks a lot William I would have gotten lost without your help. But can I ask you something. I know your the person that knows this buisness the best. What are the biggest profitting areas here? I know you see hundreds of portfolios a day with expenses. and only you can get through them without messing up some numbers." Jacob said playing on William's ego with his job. "Well I am the one the directors come to, to get the numbers right. But off the top of my head, section 12 of Egloogs many divisions pulls in 15% more than the other areas. I dont quite know just what that branch sell but its a substantial amount." William then leaned in closer. "Between me and you, I think its the new software division. All the break throughs and what not." He whispered to Jacob. "Ya dont say huh? Well thanks for the info Will I know your a very busy man. All catch up with you later." Jacob said and walked back down the hall leaving William standing with a cup of coffee. "When did I grab coffee?" He said. | |

| "Welcome back dear compatriot of mine, everything is going smoothly we are at forty percent." Samuel would say as he pulled up the software updates and began patching in the software updates. "I've put in a backdoor password amongst the patches that are being put into the server, that will give us access when we aren't hooking up directly. Did you happen to learn anything interesting from our dear co-worker?" Samuel would ask as he punched in a few keys and pulled up a game of mine sweeper, which he would start playing as he waited for the copying to finish along with the patching. | |

| Jacob walked back in the room and shut the door behind him. "What? being lonely make you afraid you will get caught." He said showing a slight bit of humor that he was not known for. "I did find out something interesting. William, the simple minded fool, told me the section that pulls the most money a month. And that would be section 12. They pull about 15% more money than the rest of the company." He said sitting back down at the monitor watching for anyone else coming down the hallway. "He said that he thinks they develop the latest software for the company. But something in me seriously doubts that. What do you think." | |

| "Its possible, or it could just be a simple accounting trick to skew the numbers. Some of the transactions are on this server, so we can at least check it out." Samuel would say as he gave a slight tsk at hitting a mine on his game. "Sixty percent done, and it should soon be all done." The hacker would say with a slight smirk as he turned to look back at Jacob. "I'll go over the information at my leisure, but I'm sure you would like to go over it yourself as well. I'll give you a secure password for it later for it." Samuel would say. | |

| Jacob nodded at Samuel saying he would get him a password. "Yes the sooner the better I want to find out just what this company has to offer us." He said with a sly grin. "But what are you trying to get out of this Samuel. True we are working together but I know you have your own means. Or else you would not have agreed to this in the first place. But I dont see you as wanting more power in the company, you are after something else. Just what is it." He asked looking curiously at Samuel. | |

| "Well, you are going to have to figure that out for yourself, Jacob." Samuel would say as he was partially interested in the challenge of hacking the companies database, but he also wanted to see what kind of things this company was dealing in. There was nothing in his mind that would help him in preparing against Jacob, so this job was merely to advance both of their aims. "If you want a hint I like the challenge this presents me." | |

| "Ah, you think to highly of yourself my demon friend. We are just small fish swimming around in this large occult ocean, and I doubt you know everything there is to know about what is happening in this world information is important for the both of us. I am sure you know of that as well." Samuel would say with a slight smirk towards Jacob as he noticed the program had been loaded. "Alright, everything is done here, we just need to cover our tracks and finish with the upload itself." Samuel would say pulling up another program to erase the electronic footprint and to mask it just as normal access during the uploading process. "Now, we just need to take a look at what is inside of it at this time." He would say. | |

| Samuel would give a slight nod of his head. "Yeah, everything is done, the backdoor is ready for use." Samuel would say closing the update program and shut the computer down. "I just need to take a closer look at the goods, then we can extrapolate exactly what we have here." The Hacker would say as he closed the laptop and left the room. "Now, we just have to resume to the tedium of work. Are you ready for stupid jokes?" Samuel would say with a grimace on his face as he opened the door and stepped out of the mainframe room. | |

| Samuel would give a slight nod of his head as he cocked his head to the side and listened to Jacob telling him to come over to his place. "Alright, I'll give you my take over everything on Wednesday." The Hacker would say as a few of his fellow employees came in ending the conversation. "Ah, so you two were able to finish the update early?" Mark would ask a slight stunned look on his face. "Yeah, me and Jacob were able to update everything without a hitch, and I was able to smooth over several programing conflicts that was hindering the updating process. It should make things quite easier for updating now, and not quite the chore that it was before." Samuel would say with a confident smile on his face. "Jacob was pretty astounded by some of the conflicting program requirements too. We should put in a request next time for a meeting for streamline the search software, that had the most conflicts with the other software updates." Samuel would drone on leveling Mark with a ton of technical data. | |

| The rest of the day would slowly pass by only the insentient clicking of keyboards and mouses echoing through the office building, and the day would soon end. He would say goodbye to Jacob and the rest of his fellow employees and take the train to his apartment where his computer was already on. Samuel would immediately open the files and started the programs to sort through all of the data. "Most of it is just useless information collected on customers." He said to himself as he pulled out little bits of things to scrutinize more in depth. He would keep doing this late into the night until he had picked through the entire database. The most interesting things he had found so far was defense contractor invoices emailed between the contractor and the defense department. "Well, I told Jacob that there probably wasn't going to be interesting things in this place, but there is something in those invoices that bugs me. The amount of data for this is just to much for a simple copy of the invoice." Samuel would say as he decided on a hunch and opened up another program up. It soon became apparent just what it was, another encrypted file had been embedded within the file. The code itself was quite sophisticated, and wouldn't be broken with the standard decryption keys. "Seems, whoever made this liked used a spliced encryption code filled with all sorts of bits of code. It looks all jumbled up, buts its a seemless piece of work." Samuel would say as he brought up his own personal decryption program and started the process for cracking the code. "Not much to do until its done." Samuel would say as he punched a few more keys before heading off to bed.
In the morning he checked his progress, and seeing the file fully decrypted. He would create a hard copy on his thumb drive close down his computer and head over to Nero's place. He would give a slight knock waiting to be let into the demon's domicile.

| "If you've got some coffee could you make some for me, spent most of the night pouring over the information." Samuel would say as he plopped down in front of the console and inserted the thumb drive. "Most of the obvious encrypted information is pretty much useless some naughty emails between execs, real small fry stuff and not worth our attention." The Hacker would explain as he looked up what Jacob had been doing with the information. *Looks like he wasn't able to find the invoice, a shame.* He thought to himself as he opened up the file containing the actual invoice. "I did however find something very interesting. A standard shipping invoice sent between the military and a defense contractor for a shipment of various military grade equipment, but what was interesting about is that it had a second piece of data embedded in it, with a fairly heavy encryption around it. It shows a very different invoice." He would explain as he pulled up the window of the actual invoice. "It looks like their are two differing amounts for each column. I think its fairly obvious that the military is not getting all the gear they are paying for, and that this gear is being smuggled someplace else." Samuel would say with a slight smirk. | |

| "Yes, it looks like it is. The address could be traced to a ip address; though, I imagine they are bouncing the signal and using different layers of security. It would also tip our hand as well. We could use a reverse trace, send another email to this address with a program that can then send a encrypted package with the ip address of the real place this was meant to be delivered too." Samuel would explain as he pulled up another screen this time putting together up the invoice which instead of a embedded security encryption would only have something that would look like the encryption that was used before, but would just be a tracer program in disguise. "This should be it. We just need to send it too its address as a new invoice order, and when it works its way through the layers of security we can get a ip address and a actual address." Samuel would say with a smirk. | |

| "That's purely up to the enemy, or I should say how much it takes for them to process the request." Samuel would say producing a slight smile. "I made sure though that the invoice contained a few high class item requests that should make it move faster through the system. The only thing left to do is too wait." Samuel would say as he pushed himself away from the computer and picked up the coffee and took a sip of it. "Your decor seems rather spartan, but then again I am not exactly surprised with your personality." He would say with a slight chuckle. "So, have you heard any information from the other compatriot that came with you before?" He asked. | |

| "I'll try to keep that in mind." Samuel would say dryly as he took another sip of his coffee. They would have to wait for another two hours before they got a response from the tracking program. "Ah, we finally got a hit." Samuel would say as he quickly brought up the ip address. "Now, we just triangulate it with a quick hack of elgoog's list of ip addresses." He would say as he quickly got access through the backdoor program and entered the recently accquired ip address into the database, and he would quickly come up with an address for it. "Looks like we have the exactly place where at the very least the computer is being used for this, now we just need to see if in all actuality this is a credible lead or not." Samuel would say as he took another sip of his coffee. | |

We first need to see what this place looks like, then we need to tail the person in question, which I think you are more suited towards given to you being a demon and generally invisible to the general population." | Samuel would hurriedly follow Nero as they caught the bus just in time collecting his things and the laptop as well. It was mildly amusing to the hacker to see a demon taking public transportation, but he kept his mental snickering to himself merely content to smile. Once they had gotten off, he would look around taking in the sites. "Yes, your typical upper middle class neighborhood." Samuel would say as he quickly followed Jacob into the deserted house. "We should be able to watch things from here, and then we can follow whoever it is out of from there. We should also pay attention if they make drops and other things like that as well." Samuel said as he pulled out the thumb drive. "They probably have a list of clientele on the computer, so we need to get a copy of that, watch the house while I whip up a quick program to slice the defenses." He would say as he started furiously typing upon the keyboard.

| Samuel would give a slight nod of his head as he finished the hastily written up computer code. "Make sure to take pictures of the place even if they are just crappy cellphone photos." Samuel would say to the departing figure of Jacob. "Great, now how am I going to get in there?" He thought to himself for a few moments before he went out the back and made his way in a roundabout manner, so that he had approached the house from the back side. The Hacker would turn out to be in luck since it was a newer house it had a electronic lock for the front and back door. *This certainly makes things easier then.* He thought to himself as he looked down at the keypad and quickly got out a screwdriver and pried it open. Samuel would then strip some of the wires akin to hot wiring a car and tripped the doors system to open up for him. He would then enter cautiously into the room itself and quickly find itself and hook up both computers. A few minutes of hacking later and he was into the system. *Geesh, they have a wide clientele list here, but nothing on who the ringleaders might be.* Samuel thought to himself as he quickly made a copy of everything peritenent to his investigation, cleaned up his tracks on the computer as well as any finger prints he left behind, and got the hell out of there. | |

| Samuel figured it was for the best that he did not call Jacob at that particular moment as he didn't want to spoil his tailing the subject, so he would just pull out his own cellphone and make a quick email saying he had the goods. He would then head to a nearby cafe and wait for a response from Jacob about what he might have found from trailing the individual. | |

| Samuel would be waiting for Jacobs return at his apartment. "Took you awhile." He would say as Jacob then let him in. "Glad to see that you've got everything that we need." Samuel would say referring to all of the pictures that had been taken by Jacob then forwarded to Samuel. "Alright, let's take a look and see what kind of info we have here." He would say as he booted up both computers and ran his customized password hacking software. Once he was in, he would begin going through it all. "Looks like more inventory sheets for everything here, and looks like the same stuff that I got from the computer there." He would say as he sifted through the data. "Hold on a moment, it looks like things are starting to reveal themselves here, this is a entire list of bank accounts with money being deposited in small amounts of five thousand or less, but it still adds to quite a bit of doe being shelled out. The money is then withdrawn by somebody called Lawrence Godfry, and then sent to a subsidiary of elgoog, to be laundered no doubt. The money after that is distributed to those who run the operation as part of their cuts." There was a slight pause as a careful smirk crossed his face "I am going to assume that the guy you were chasing Jacob was going to be trying to extort money from these individuals. Its the only logical explanation, since this computer has the names of all the conspirators a captain in division twelve, several elgoog employees, along with the defense contractor and several military officials as well. Its quite the neat little system that they have here, they have the army place an order for more equipment then they need, the extra goods are then routed to a different address, but both invoices and the people on the ground give reports for the inventory as it is displayed. Leaving the military none the wiser to the graft, they then sell those excess goods for profit on the black market." | |

| Samuel gave a wave of his hand "Don't get too ahead of yourself Jacob, these are people who would doubtlessly kill us if they found out everything that we know. We need to maintain our anonymity as much as possible, so we shouldn't ask for anything that could identify us personally if you do we need to figure out a method that would be able to mask it." Samuel would say as he transferred files over to his thumb drive. "Alright, this contains some of the data just put this into the thumb drive, we just set up another email account by bouncing it off of a few proxie servers like so, that way the signal takes a long time to track. We then send it to them like so, with instructions for arranging a meeting; through, a webcam and a sufficiently bounced signal so they can't track us." He would press a few more buttons "Presto, we now just wait for some sort of response from them." Samuel would say. | |

| "I wouldn't be to smug about this either Jacob. I am sure from their nature that they could easily employ demons and other types to take you out as well as me." Samuel would say as he reclined in. "What are you thinking about asking from them?" Samuel would ask him. | |

| Samuel just held himself back from answering as he knew that Jacob was too self assured in his own abilities, that he would underestimate the threat that these people held against him. *That is a serious shortfall for Jacob in that he believes just by being a demon he is superior and therefore immune to anything that a human or lesser demon can do too him, but he would be for a rather nasty surprise if he believes that an inferior being can not destroy him if he is as careless as I think he is going to be.* Samuel thought to himself with a slight shake of his head. "Yeah, we got a hit." He would say as he opened up the email and read the response. "Its pretty sparse, but they are fine with setting up a meeting, not in person of course. I'm just going to say we are going to communicate through a secure connection, maybe a real time video connection, but I am leading more towards a series of emails myself as for I'll take, who knows I'll have to think about it some more before I make any sort of request." Samuel would say open to any suggestions from his fellow blackmailer. | |
