The whistle came out of nowhere. I had smiled at Lauren as she entered the little dress shop on the corner, which was one of the last things I would do with her for a while. She The whistle came out of nowhere. I had smiled at Lauren as she entered the little dress shop on the corner, which was one of the last things I would do with her for a while. She wanted to check a price on something, and since I had no interest in it I figured I would wait outside. I stood there for a moment, bringing my fingers up to cover my lips while I had yawned. The noise was a screech and came faster than I could have ever anticipated. I caught a glimpse of the silvery object , and barely had enough time to bring my arms in front of me, and across my chest when it hit. The ground exploded, the windows of the shop shattered, and a ball of smoke and fire encompassed my body, sending me flying straight across the street, through a window, and into a table. I could hear screams from all around me, but I couldn’t really place any exact location, praying that Lauren was okay. If something were to happen to her I would never forgive myself. I knew coming to the lower parts of the city was a bad idea, especially for someone of her social status.
The only word that could really define the feeling was crap. I felt like my entire body was on fire, and everything hurt. My ears were ringing, and my sight was hazily blurred. The table that I had landed on, and gone through, was shattered and splintered around me. I had to wonder if I was still even able to move. Slowly, I rolled my body over, and brought myself to all fours. Shaking my head, I could feel the glass embedded across my back side. Flexing a bit, and tightening my back muscles, I shook, sending shards of daintily colored glass bouncing around me. A drop of blood hit the floor, making me realize that my head had been busted. My vision was still shaky at best. In the distance, I could hear Lauren screaming, so I knew she was alive. What was going on outside, however, I had no clue about. Slowly, my right arm came up to the broken table, with my fingers curling around its side. I pulled myself up to a knee while attempting to wipe the blood out of my right eye with my left hand. Bringing my head upwards, I looked out into the street, gazing into the light of day. I still couldn’t feel what was going on out there, but I heard it well enough.
“FIRE!!!”
I fell backwards, rolling to the ground while bullets riddled the small shop. Pieces of broken display cases fell around me, splinters flew through the air, and the only thing on my mind was Lauren. I closed my eyes for a moment, trying to figure out what was going on. It only took me a moment to realize who it was. The gang that had tried to rob Lauren and her friends the other day must be based out of here. I knew I had been too nice by letting them live. Lauren had begged me not to kill them, and I had taken her interest into mind. Last time I do that, EVER AGAIN.
Slowly, the noise of gunfire began to settle down, and I heard a window to the side break even more. Scrambling to the side, I had to force myself to focus. There was a power outlet on the side wall, so I was surrounded in some way by electricity. As soon as the door to the shop opened, two men charged at me.
“Chains of power, hold thy target..” My right arm shot out, and a chain of electricity surrounded him. The second one moved past his partner, and came straight at me. Bringing my hands up, I grabbed the end of his weapon and swung it to the side, allowing myself to grab onto him. Using his body to complete the charge, I moved the negative through him, and used his own electrical polarity to shock him. “Void of Spatial Thunder!” The yellow light illuminated the entire shop before his body fell to the ground. I looked at the other one for a moment before driving my foot straight into his face, attempting to send him flying back through the door.
My clothes were wrecked, and I was hurting. Slowly, I moved through the open door and out into the setting sunlight. Lauren was behind a group of people who were trying to hold her back. There was a line of humans with guns. I didn’t care what age they were, or what their reasoning for being here was. I could count the number of times I had killed a human on one hand.. Today was going to be their day.
“Lauren.. I am deeply sorry for what I am about to do.. get inside..”

Lauren turned and ran the opposite way, moving into the cover of a building. She already knew what I was about to do. The man in the center began to shout at me, but I tuned his voice out. Curling my fingers into a fist, my right arm shot towards the sky. I had to have maximum control over this if it were to work the way I wanted it to. I had been surrounded by a half circle, of men, and each one of them were about to die. I had not been pushed this far into anger in a long, long time, and it was about time for me to break myself apart once again. I could feel my inner energy shifting as I attempted to purify it one step further. I knew that I would have to reach a new level of control if I were to succeed my master. All of the old days, through the generations that I had learned from him came to my mind. The art of Enlightenment of thunder and Lightning had brought me forward into a new level of control, a new level that I would need. The purification process was thorough, but forced. I breathed in while their weapons were raised. They had no idea who I was, or the size of the storm that was about to descend upon them. With a smile on my face, I threw my right arm down towards the ground.
“Hall of thunder, hear my cry. Destroy the enemies that taint the skies.”
At that point, the hair on the back of my neck stood up. I could feel the electricity coming. Their weapons slowly began to tingle with sparks before being lead lines. A series of lightning bolts descended through the air, surrounding me with a destructive wave of electricity. The semi circle of humans were incinerated from the energy, with parts of their bodies burning, with the electricity stuck between them. There wasn’t much room for the energy to go as it jumped from body to body before bring grounded on the buildings. Before me lay an array of dead bodies. In the distance I could hear sirens. Oh joy. I fell to a knee, while a line of blood streaked the ground. I had over done it once again, and was now paying the price. I half stood there for a moment before I felt a familiar grasp. Lauren was pulling me to my feet.
“Stay with me, the car is on its way.. we will get you out of here.”
The last thing I heard was her voice before the darkness came.
A gentle touch came across my forehead several hours later. When I emerged from my sleep, my clothes were gone, save for a pair of athletic shorts. I looked up at the being who had touched me. Lauren of course had not gone to sleep, and had stayed by my side all night long. I looked at her, smiling gently. She had taken care of my body after I overdid it once again. I had remembered the first time I had gone above and beyond my ability levels, and it had nearly killed me. It seemed like that had happened once again. She smiled down at me, with a deep sadness in her eyes. I knew that I had worried her more than ever this time around. I leaned my head back into the pillow, driving it down into the softness. Thinking back to that time, I wondered what ability I had used. It was one of the older ones that I had been taught, for ranged attacks. It wasn’t heavens void of lightning, but it was still very effective. If I could master throwing lightning bolts, then there wouldn’t be a being in existence that could escape my fury. I caught her eyes one more time before she laid her head on my chest, and pulled her body next to mine. Yet again, her warmth overtook me, and I fell quickly into slumber, with my angel by my side.
