| | Solo Mission
Night begins to creep over the city. For the moment, I was in my office working on a few things. It had been a while since I heard from Sanzon, which was odd, since I sent the Kami to Onitoshi on recon. I wonder if he’d forgotten the mission. It was a win-win situation for me. If Sanzon went and got himself killed in hell, then I wouldn’t have to worry about dealing with him anymore. If he came back, then we would have valuable information on grounds to attack our unknown enemy. He hadn’t been spotted within the city, since we’re normally able to keep up with his movements through the nanites in his system.
I move my thoughts from that to other things as I lean back taking a break from my paperwork. I wondered how things were going with the rookie. I knew that she reacted rather strongly to the realm training scenario, so because of that, I was a bit worried about her. I had hopes for her and she seemed like she would suck up the experience, but I still didn’t know how she would handle a real world situation. I glance to my computer and give a verbal command to pull up the patrol list and browsed to my section. Tapp and Ted had the night off and Michael was working special projects. Ingel had been stationed on a special project as well, so that left Nikki with one of her first solo patrols of the Lower Commons. “Hmm…” I murmur lightly. I figured nothing big would happen on a normal nightly patrol, but one could never tell. It had been a while since I had been on a patrol, so I figure that I could perform it with her, keep her company and observe her. A book on my desk said that it was important to get to know those under me, or something like that.
“Izumi,” I call into the room ahead of me to have Nikki contacted. I realize that Izumi still hadn’t returned yet, thus leaving me without a secretary. “Crap…” I murmur lightly as I reach for my cell phone having to do manual labor. I thumb in Nikki’s number and put it on speaker, placing the phone on my desk as I waited for her to answer, leaning back into my chair.

| | It was late, and I had been out running and practicing in order to keep up with the boys on my team within the division. Being the only woman on the team was not as easy as some would think. I had gotten back to my flat at around ten to nine, which gave me enough time to eat a quick dinner and take a long and warm shower. The warm water really did miracles on the body, as all the tension and stress seemed to simply disappear with the steam and be replaced by peace and a sleep, which was only the reason why I went to bed right after showering. Almost an hour after I fell asleep, my phone started ringing somewhere in the flat.
At first, the ringing did not seem to bother me, but the more it rang and the higher the sound became, the more I wanted to kill the other person that was the one who was calling me. “You got to be joking me” I whined as I dragged myself out of the bed, using one hand to rub my eyes and the other to look around for the phone. I found the phone in the kitchen, which were extremely cold which led to me jumping to get the phone, and jumping back onto the carpeted floor of my combined living and bed room. “Nikki, who am I speaking to?” I say as cheerful and non-murderous as I possibly could at this hour, trying to rather seem friendly to the person I would be talking to.

The phone rings a few times, and for a moment I wondered if I had the right number. It seemed just before the allotted time when voicemail would normally come up, the phone is answered. The voice confirms that I did, in fact, have the right number, but from her tone, it would almost seem like she had just woken up. I found that to be a little odd; I wondered if she had gone to sleep early so that she could get up for the nightly patrol. Answering her question in a calm tone, my voice speaks, “Your boss… or rather Commissioner Asei.” Moving into my purpose for calling, I continue, “I see here that you are scheduled to relieve Officer Bryans for the late night patrol of sector I9 of the Lower Commons. Since you don’t have a partner on docket for this patrol, I’m going to do it with you. I’ll meet you in sector I9 of the Lower Commons in about an hour; does that sound good?”

| | A short and whining “ahww” escape my lips as I fall back into the bed, clenching my eyes closed as I answer. “Yeah, an hour” it would be pretty clear that the night shift didn’t really suit me as I preferred a warm and cosy bed instead of a cold, dangerous and dark street, crammed with all sort of shady people. Rolling of the bed, I would begin to get dressed, though in a more casual way that usual, as it was cold and dark outside and being dressed scantly were not the best of options. My attire consisted of a partly baggy cargo trouser, a leather jacket with a furry collar and red tight sitting top underneath the jacket. My armament were attached under the left arm and carefully concealed behind the leather. A quick glance in the mirror and I was on my way to the appointed location - I9. I didn’t own a car, nor a bike and so I had to get there on foot, which at this hour would take approximately forty minutes as I was lived quiet near the border of east and the lower.
Exiting the building, I let my eyes glide form side to as I walk down the few steps to the sidewalk. It seemed to be a quiet night as there was almost no one in the streets, though it could also mean that there was something going to happen which had slipped past the intelligence department – which was highly unlikely in my mind. The stroll was moderately paced and I had good time to reach my destination, which gave me some time to think back at things, such as my reaction in the Realm and what I really wanted to accomplish in my new line of work. Apparently, I was a sort of a scout or someone that would be used to get into small areas and intelligence gathering due to my size, speed and agility.
Passing the border between the East and the Lower commons a notable change happened in the buildings and street. Everything became darker and there were no doubt that I had arrived in the commons. At each street corner from here on out were a potential bomb as there seemed to be junkies, mobster and hookers everywhere, and a woman walking around alone would seem to be a easy prey for a hungry predator as some of the pimps around were infamous of – kidnapping lonely women, getting them high and addicted and then start pimping them out on the corners and the RLD. Looking down at my cell, which had the D12 grid implanted on its map, I could see that I had arrived on the northeastern corner of the sector. Taking up position on a highlighted corner with a nice view of the main road going through the area and most of the corners around, I would lean against the wall and keep a close eye on everything that would be moving around me while I awaited the arrival of my boss – Commissioner Asei.

I give the phone an odd glance at her comments, wondering if she really took her job seriously. I figured that it would take me a while to get used to her personality; for someone without much of one, getting along with others was an awkward experience for me. I pegged this as probably one of the reasons I was a better boss than co worker. The conversation is ended and I return the phone to the inside of my coat as I lean forward in the office chair. The commons was about a thirty minute drive away from the Metro, so I could finish up a few things before heading out to meet with Nikki.
Twenty minutes after the call, I leave my office and head to the parking garage. From there, I drive from the Division 12 HQ to the Lower Commons. Since we would be on patrol, I decided to take the Enforcer, basically a rugged black four door hummer, since it had better equipment and storage. The fact that we had various technological pieces of equipment on board didn’t mean that I actually knew how to work the equipment, but at least it was there. With that thought, I make the mental note to have Michael teach Nikki how to use SpiritNet and the other technical capabilities of the Enforcer since she may need it in the future.
The trip is made a little over 30 minutes before I roll into the lower commons coming onto the meeting point. Driving slowly in the Enforcer, I look around the area and come to the conclusion that I didn’t know what type of vehicle Nikki drove. It was no biggie since I could feel her. Feeling her presence, I simply continue down the street until I came to where she was leaning against a wall. The SUV rolls up to the side of the street and parks along the side walk. The driver side door opens and I walk around the front of the SUV, looking around as I walked towards Nikki. Not dressed as I would if I were in the office, I was casual in black pants and long sleeve shirt with a full length coat covering my frame. My hands would rest in the pockets of my coat; in my approach my gaze shifts to her, asking curiously, “where’s your car?” before coming to a stop in front of her.

| | It did not take long before a black and eye-catching hummer rolled up and halted in a gentle stop before me. I pushed myself off the wall as I heard the door open on the driver side of the car, expecting the commissioner to come around on either side so I stopped a few meters on its side. The question that was fired upon me caught me off guard, which was obvious as I stammered my answer in confusion. “W, What? Umm… I don’t have one” My eyes peer of to the side as I make a somewhat funny expression, hoping that this would not turn into a awkward conversation.
Placing my hands in my back pockets on my trousers, I take a few steps forward to meet my superior, not really knowing what night patrols actually did, other than walking around the place. “Sooo… whats up? Except being out in a dark and creepy street with a cry-baby like me?” I ask, trying to make my crying the other day more comical than serious. Letting my eyes travel for a short second, I noticed that the hummer was indeed catching the eyes of some teenage boys which were staking it out from a distance, plus staking out the chick standing next to it, me. A blush spreads across my face as one of the boys whistle and shouts from across the street. “How much missy?”
Not bothering to look at them, I just take a step closer to Asei, which provokes an almost immediate reaction from the due on the other side. “Aw common! Going home with your sugar daddy?” as the comment comes, I give Asei the kind of look which speaks for itself, which I also motioned with my head that we could go down the other way, avoiding the duo that seemed to have a risen interest in me. “Don’t worry about it, this happens just about every time I go out after dark.” I inform with a sigh as I close my jacket with the zipper, moving my hands into its pockets as I stop a few meters down the road and turn to wait to see if Asei would follow me or not.

I allow an awkward pause to come into the conversation after her first answer. My mind wonders, ‘she doesn’t have a car?’ I wondered if it were a money issue, or something more along the lines of a personal belief. Looking at her, I would have pegged her for the type to have a motorcycle. I wondered if she had actually walked here from her home. Out documentation had her house quite the distance by foot, though a bus ride wouldn’t have been that bad… that would be if the buses ran after midnight.
I am privy to witness the scheme that plays about me with the question of what was up, the joke, and the cat calls. I recognize that she wanted to avoid any confrontation with the young men about this area, which was nice in its own way. I didn’t sense any demonic aura about us, so luckily this group was among those we were served with to protect. I watch as she walks off, remaining silently where I was with my hands still in my pocket until she turns around and looks to me to see if I were following. At that moment she turned around, one hand comes from the pocket as I jut a thumb back to the hummer advising, “It’s easier to patrol in the Enforcer.” After all, the thing had sensory that could scan for spiritual life forms within a good radius, giving plenty of time to get the jump on spirits if need be. I wasn’t a huge fan of walking or running when I didn’t have to.
After that comment was stated to the young lady, I turn towards the males giving the cat calls. One hand comes to the crease of my coat as I pull it open, revealing the badge I wore clipped on the right side of my belt. I speak simply, “We’re cops. Keep moving.” There was no need to keep that from normal humans, since we weren’t out here trying to stop drug trafficking or anything like that. If they were spirits, then I may have posed as a normal person. Though the Lower Commons was one of the worst sides of town, the residents traditionally had the common sense that messing was cops was a bad idea; we just happened to be super cops. I would see how they reacted and if Nikki redirected her steps. Still, no car? I might have to at least get her a patroller until she came out of whatever recession I assumed she was in. The word responsible didn’t jump kick me in the face when looking at her; I ran with the thought that maybe she was just young and not good with money.

| | I bobbed my head to the sides as I had to agree with him that it would be easier, if not safer, to patrol the streets with the hummer. Not only gave it protection from the weather and cold, but also bullets should anyone try something stupid. Then he did something I did not anticipate, he turned towards the due on the other side and told them to move on and exposed us as cops. I stopped for a short second before I headed for the passenger side, only reaching the door before the next comment where shot from the other side. “Yeah sure! And my mom is the Mayor!” They laugh a little bit before they decide to cross the street, heading for the back of the enforcer. Opening the door, I turn to Asei before getting it, “Let’s go, before they do something stupid” my voice was that of an annoyed female, cold, deadly and warning. Suddenly, one of the men appeared at the front, while the other appeared at the back of the hummer, each of them seemingly to have different goals with their approach. “Hey hey hey… Whats with the hurry? Can’t we just talk for a minute?” the person at the front say in a half chuckling voice as he prevents me from closing the door shut. While the other one seemed to be more interested in Asei as he directly approached him with one of his hands concealed within the pocket of his jacket, “Nice car you got there man” he then looks over at me before continuing “And a nice little girl as well-“
Breaking him in mid sentence, I decide to give them both a warning before they would go too far and get themselves hurt. “I don’t know if you heard him, but we are cops. Now if you want trouble, I’m sure he can be more than able to give it to you, if not, then I suggest that you just walk calmly away from here and find something better to do” I knew the commissioner were a highly trained man, as seen in our Realm session. Nevertheless, even though that I had this knowledge, there were a natural fear deep down inside my voice, the fear of the unknown of the situation. What if he didn’t beat these men for some reason, what if he lost and were knocked unconscious or even worse, killed. What would happen to me if he was knocked unconscious? I could fight, but there were two of them! I could draw my gun and shoot them, but that would most likely wake the whole block and even more creeps would come out. The worry began to settle in my lower back as I carefully moved my hand inside the jacket, removing the lock on my holster so that it would be easier for me to withdraw the gun should it be needed.
“Oh, hehe, well we just want to talk right Tom? Heh, nothing to be worried about little girl” the one that stood by Asei said as his posture became more varied, almost like his adrenaline had began pumping, as if something where to happen. The man that stood by the door seemed to be more calm, though he had found a new point of interest, and that was the heavy geared inside of the hummer, which seemed to flip I’m like a coin. “Shane… Let’s just get outta here huh? No need to scare them, just let them get on their way and we’ll be on ours” It was clear that he now understood that we weren’t just some defenceless couple or something worse and seemed to take it quiet easy and were willing to get out of it they had sunken to deep to get back up. “To fucking bad!” the person that stood close to Asei said as he struggled to draw his gun from the pocket. The reaction of the man next to me was not as desperate as he began to immediately run the opposite direction, shouting as he ran away from the car. “Fuck this! I’m innocent!”

As the scene plays out, ignorance abounds as the males seem to take an interest in both the girl and the vehicle. I almost felt bad that I hadn’t gotten hit on up to this point. Still, there was only so much foolishness I could take before I would end up cuffing these nuts to a pole and calling the city’s officers to come and pick them up. It was good to see Nikki getting firm with them; she would need to be more aggressive against these types of things given her position. There was no need for her to take such a thing. I figured her behavior had been learned over a period of time, so that her overall attitude has hints of sass but when confronted like this, she seemed to prefer to submissively decline. As one of the males approach me, my worry is more on Nikki who seemed to have one in front of her as well. Normally, I would have acted before things could have progressed this far, but a bit of me wanted to see how Nikki would react. One seems to have a brain in his head and runs off, making this that much earlier, but the other seems to go full retard to my dismay. My gaze shifts down to the pocket that he was struggling to pull something out of; that was fine, though it would have been better if he actually knew how to pull it out fluidly. My body steps forwards and my right hand grabs at the male’s shirt. A split second later and he would be on the ground and on his back with the arm he would have drawn the gun with within my grip and pulled back unnaturally with my knee in his back. The grapple would have been a swift and fluid motion in a habit of perfected learned muscle movement. Turning his hand and pressing on the pressure point in his hand, I would relive him of his gun, allowing it to fall to the side; I wondered if the idiot even kept the safety on while holstered in his pocket. I didn’t normally carry cuffs with me for normal humans, so instead of detaining him, I give him a stiff punch to the back of his neck to de-illuminate his interior lights. His belt was used to hog tie him with his ankles and wrists bound together awkwardly behind him as if a pig on a split. Picking up his gun, I stash the cartridge, tossing the actual piece into a nearby storm drain. Casually I pull out my cell, thumb in a number and bring it to my ear. After a moment, I would explain that Division 12 needed a civil unit to come pick up an assailant on the curb for assaulting an officer. I verify my D code, gain my confirmation and then hang up the phone. Casually, I walk towards the Hummer’s passenger door mentally moving on to think about the route of the patrol, and if there no more interruptions, I would get into it and proceed in starting the vehicle and buckling my seat belt; safety first.

| | Watching at how Asei moved when the person were struggling with the gun was truly amazing. The first time I had met him, I had imagined him being a office rat, pushing paper from point a to point b on the same desk and just bossing everyone around and thankfully I was wrong! He had not only show a great deal of skill when we were in the realm session, but also here! Within a single movement, he had moved, disarmed and almost tied the assaulter. Letting my eyes fall upon Asei, my boss with an almost exact same look as a young girl would look at a super star – sparkling eyes, blushing cheeks and a train of romantic thoughts and cliché like kisses and other moments. I followed him every movement from that point on as he fished his phone up from his pocket and dialled a number. Sitting the seat with my legs outside the car, I place my elbow on the thigh and support my head in the palm, placing the little finger in the corner of my lips as my mind raced through and created new fantasies and thoughts. He surely wasn’t a paper pusher and I reckoned there were far more interesting things underneath his iron layer which just had to be explored now that he had actually shown me close up what he was capable of.
As he walked around the car, my eyes would follow him until he disappeared behind the car, at which time I turned around so I was now facing the driver’s seat. As he got in, I would have already fastened my seatbelt and had my eyes and full attention towards Asei. “Interesting~” I would let out with a wondering voice, almost as if I was thinking of something or was about to ask a question. Shaking my head gently to clear out the thought that had appeared, I adjust myself and break the awkward silence that would follow with a more job related question. “What now boss?” If this guy were one of those that went to the clubs a lot, he would immediately recognise the voice I had used in my question – slightly teasing but admiring, the prefect voice when trying to get past a bouncer or get free drinks at the bar. Adjusting myself yet again, I place my legs in a cross and my hands in the lap as I look out the windshield, letting my eyes take in the lights and streets we would pass. Then suddenly my voice made its own move as a unwanted question popped out. “So do you do this often? Taking the rookie girl out on a patrol?” immediately my cheeks turned red and my palms sweaty. ‘What are you doing? You cannot do this! He is your boss for Christ’s sake!’ I thought to myself as I turned my head around so that he wouldn’t notice the fiery red cheeks and embarrassed face I had put on.

After getting into the vehicle and starting it up, I glance over to Nikki as she speaks. My gaze shifts back towards the center console of the vehicle as she says a few more things. During this time, I proceed in activating the ‘easy’ version of the SpiritNet radar; Michael had set it up so I could run some of the easier functions of SpiritNet with a touch of a button. As it turned out, it was kind of like On-star, GPS and a radar detector at the same time. A panel illuminates just below where the stereo would normally be and a grid forms. There are no blips on it as of yet, and though I did not really need to use it, it saved me the effort of sensing out for spirits myself.
Answering her, my gaze shifts towards Nikki with a raised eyebrow as I answer, “only the cute ones. So far, you and Tapp have been the only one to receive this treat.” I played a little with the answer, keeping a straight face as my dry humor often permitted. She was the only female I had actually been on a patrol with since my rookie days. I never really was a team player, since I liked to do things solo, but I made sure I got my part of whatever needed to be done completed. But things seemed different now, probably because I was in a leading role over Nikki.
The enforcer pulls away from the curb, leaving the silly young man lain out unconscious. As we drive off, I continue, “I’ve put in a route that covers all major portions of this sector. Chances are high we’ll come across a spirit in the first fifteen minutes. In that case, if they’re on the street, I normally check to see if they’re registered. If they’re endangering human lives, tries to run, or gets hostile, then they may need to be eliminated. I’m a firm believer that humans are the residents of this realm; any demonic spirit that comes into the city is free game. It’s a stretch to allow them to stay in the forest…” Turning, I look towards her and say, “but if something happens, you can take it easy. I don’t want to put too much on you yet since you’re still getting used to things. I’m fully capable of taking care of anything we come up against.” I should have added ‘generally’ since there were the really extreme circumstances that did exist. I look over her for a moment before returning my gaze to the road ahead. I wondered why a cute girl like her would want to come into this type of life; to each their own.

| | All of his words seemed to run me past as I was more occupied on the first one. He said he only gave this treatment to the cute ones and it was apparent that it was a joke, but still, the urge to ask him hit me like a freight train. “You think I’m cute? Well you aren’t so bad yourself” I said in the same dry humour as he had, but I also let my eyes glide over the visible part of his body as I did so. Gazing out of my window again as the silence creeps up again; I turn to him once more. “So what does Mrs Asei say to you being out on patrol with a cute co-worker?” I asked teasingly as she adjust in my seat so I would be leaning against the seat and the door at the same time. At this moment I were lost in my own girly world where I had been now secluded in a car with a man that surely could fill more than just my own needs, but as well seem to be so unachievable.
As the temperature rose, I removed my jacket and delicately placed it in the backseat, though I kept my gun in its holster, which were secured, under my left arm, in case there would be something that would require me to use it would happen. Playing around with my hair in the mirror for a minute or two, I turn to ask Jyn what he thinks of a pony tail, pig tails or hanging it loose, using my hands to make it when I asked him. “What you think would suit me the most? Ponytail, pig tails or having it loose like this?” For him it must have seen that I were more interested in talking than keeping an eye on the streets, but I did indeed give the street a glance now and then, as well as the monitor which still hadn’t shown any remarks on there being any spirits around as of yet. Looking over my clothes after I was finished with my hair planning, I let my voice ring again, this time it were a little more oriented to work though and not just cosmetics and friendly chat. “You think I should get a more police looking uniform from the depot or should I just continue to use my own clothes? Don’t want to be wrongly dressed and smirch the name of the division” I said as I adjusted the straps of the top and bra, looking at him through a thin veil of hair and with my pupils in the corner of the eyes.

The enforcer shifts peacefully though the quiet night streets of the Lower Commons as the patrol begins. My hands are on the steering wheel with my gaze returned to the road as she begins speaking. I turn to give her a glance at the question of her cuteness, not giving an answer, before returning my attention to the road. “Thanks,” I answer to the compliment, assuming that she was joking with me as I had done with her. The question of Mrs. Asei was interesting. I wondered how far I should go in banter with her; I didn’t want to create too much of a casual air with Nikki as to undermine my position with her, but I also wouldn’t be cold and mean to her by saying that it wasn’t any of her business. I assumed she dealt with people socially better than an object oriented person such as me. Keeping the answer concise, I comment, “there is no current Mrs. Asei.” I wouldn’t go into detail about Izumi and our relationship; I figured anyone around HQ would know the rumors about that, thus it wasn’t something for me to go into on a patrol.
There is a bit of silence as I notice her remove her outer garment. I look to her for that moment from the corner of my eye before looking back towards the road. Coming to a stop sign, the vehicle slows to a stop and then I make a left, following the patrol route. SpiritNet would pick up a few small spirit entities here and there, but nothing big that seemed to require any type of attention. Generally if spirits were weak and alone, I wouldn’t bother with them unless I were bored; if they were in groups, then I would check in and see if something may be going on. I could do this with and without being detected.
I am reintroduced to her nonchalant nature as the conversation changes to her style of hair. Still facing forwards, I give it minimal thought as I answer, “I prefer long hair.” It was the first thing to come to mind and actually my preference in women, though I hadn’t really noticed it. I wasn’t really a fan of the various types of tails; I liked long and simple. It had a way of setting on a woman’s body that just seemed to be a good visual for me. With her words, my gaze shifts back to her, bra strap adjusting and all. She was… My thoughts and the question about attire are interrupted by an incoming COM call as an operator inquires of whoever is patrolling I9 to check on a situation that was about a mile or so away from us. Pressing the COM button on the steering wheel with my thumb, I speak aloud and respond to the operator advising that two officers were en route. The operator fills in the details gained from filtering the police lines and advising that Div12 would be handling the call. The operator gives a synopsis, stating that residents were reporting a public domestic dispute where one of the participants of the dispute seemed to turn into a large creature before dragging the other inside of an apartment; the number is given. I take the next left and proceed down the street as I finally answer casually, “That depends on the situation. Normally police attire by day and your own by night should be fine.” The enforcer pulls into to the parking lot of a small worn down apartment complex and comes to a stop, parking near one of the middle buildings of the complex. Opening my door, I assure with a glance towards her face, “what you wear is fine, though. Don’t put too much worry into it.” I step out of the vehicle, not needing SpiritNet to confirm what I already felt. Though I didn’t outwardly complain, I was annoyed as this was one of the reasons why spirits should not try to live as humans; they end up doing dumb shit trying to be too human. I had everything I would need on me, so I simply place my hands in my pockets as I glance up at the complex buildings. The room number was C-112 and I could already feel the spirit entities in question. Since this was Nikki's patrol, I would wait for her to come out and around the vehicle and advise, "you're on top" so that she could take lead and I would follow and observe her.

| | Things finally began to happen as I had almost run out of things to fill the boring air with, and it seemed to be something more than just some junkies making noise. Listening to the details over the COM, I stretch to the backseat and retrieve my jacket, putting it on as I noted down the major details in the back of my mind, in case they would become valuable at some point. Outside, I would adjust the holster and make my way around the car while adjusting my gear further. “Aww, I prefer being on the bottom! It doesn’t ruin my hair” I whine in a childish and playful voice as I begin to walk towards the door, turning around to make sure that he wouldn’t let me enter on my own. The door seemed to be unlocked which were not really unnatural for this part of the city. If you had something that was of value, it also meant that you were so powerful that only a idiot or a stronger person could take it.
Slowly opening the door, I give the staircase a quick glance before speaking back to Jyn, give him a nod that it was all clear. Entering I would hug the wall that was to my right as I drew my gun and aimed for the other part that transcended from the floor above, ready to shoot just about anything that could be counted as hostile. Breathing in slow pants, I begin to traverse the staircase and make my way upwards, each time making sure that I didn’t lose balance or tripped in something that was lying on the steps. Then the first challenged came up – the first floor! It was quiet a wide and open space around the staircase and it was always a chance for an ambush and so I perked my head around the corner first to see if there were anything suspicious around and luckily we seemed to be alone.
“All clear” I motioned to Jyn which hopefully were just a couple of steps behind me. I begin to make my way to the next stair, following the signs for C block which were mounted on the walls with arrows pointing towards another staircase further down the hallway. Walking slowly down the corridor, I lower my gun a few inches to give myself a better view of what was ahead of me, paying close attention to the floor and the doors to see if there were something or someone who could give us away to the thing we were here to get.

I wouldn’t respond to the bottom comment, but my mind did wonder about it. I would think her hair would get messier if I were driving her head into the sheets, bedding or pillow. Somewhere in getting that visual in mind, I am reminded that the actual act wasn’t the issue here. I walk behind her, allowing the young lady to lead the way through this investigation. I would be tracking the movements of the spirits about us and within, though I would not necessarily say anything to her unless it was an absolute emergency; I was serious about allowing her to handle the situation. It could turn out to be nothing, or it could turn out in shots being fired; either way, it was inappropriate for a spirit to allow humans to see its physical transformed mode. There was no real warning system set in place for this type of thing… no three strikes and you’re out; it was just ‘take care of it’ as far as I was concerned since I held a high prejudice against spirit types.
I would hang back a few feet from her during the procession to the current apartment and watch her movements. She was cautious, which was probably best for someone who didn’t seem to have the same sensing abilities as I did. I nod at the all clear as I continue to follow behind her, removing my hands from my pockets, and lowering my right hand. The tattoo on my right arm shifts into shadows beneath the sleeve of my coat and travels down my arm until it comes into my hand, creating the form of my pistol. The good thing was that the spirit in question probably didn’t know we were here and was distracted. I was interested to see how Nikki would handle this, seeing as we weren’t like the normal cops where we would knock on the door, try to settle the issue and maybe take someone to jail if charges were drawn; still, there was an option of hauling a demon in to HQ for Angela to use for her experiments… though that might be worse than death.
There would be loud and unnatural noises coming from the apartment in question as the distance is cut between it and us. One could hear arguing, furniture moving and a woman screaming for help; unfortunately, in this part of the city, it would more than likely be ignored. She was lucky that someone called the cops at all. The apartment they were in would be a two bed room with the front door leading into the living room with a wall and door to the right side separating it from the bathroom and bedrooms. The interior of the apartment would be filthy with trash, old pizza boxes, and all types of items littered about the ground. It would be obvious the residents were lower class with barely a working television and cots instead of beds. The argument would be going on in the rear bedroom, so the living room would be empty on arrival.

| | My ears perked at the sounds that came from the nearest apartment as I had closed the gap considerably in the seconds between the scream and was ready to burst into the room, but decided not to as I still did not know what was waiting on the inside of the door. The thing could be waiting or it could be armed, making me an easy target to take out if I were to burst through the door in a dash. Look to Jyn, I mouth of a sentence to not alert the suspect that was inside the apartment. “You got a flash grenade or small charge?” Looking around, I would try to visualize how the room would look like and thus trying to figure out if the sounds were coming from the room that was just inside the door, or any of the other rooms within. Leaning my head pretty close to the door, I could tell by the sounds that they were indeed in another room, making it easier for us to enter and deal with the situation. Shaking my head to Jyn as I point to the door and slowly begin work the knob, this would rotate slowly so it would not make any noises. Opening the door with my foot, I would raise my gun to a shooting position and enter the room, making sure my feet did not land on something of which would generate noise – such as glass and plastic.
My eyes widen as I now can see parts of the suspect, which were inside one of the rooms on the right. I narrow them as I grasp harder on the gun as to keep my nerves from shaking too much of the excitement and adrenaline. I took another step forward, stepping over an old pizzabox but then again almost stepping on a plastic bottle. I quickly adjust my step, but in doing so I came out of balance for a split second which forced me to jump to the side and this little jump was the only noise that would be audible for this creature. A feint thud as my shoes hit the floor and as I became aware of this, I crouched and aimed my gun directly at the door, ready to send of every single bullet into whatever was to exit the door. My heart were racing and strands of my hair had gotten down into my face as I where breathing through my nostril so I would not make too much noise. Slowly making my way towards the door, I would rise up and place myself closer to the wall on the side of it, so that if the creature was to come out, it would have to turn around before it would be able to see me or take any action against me.

I wait to the side of the door that Nikki seemed poised in entering. When she turns and mouths the words to me, I shake my head no, reaching into my coat at belt level on my right side, taking out a small circular orb that was foam grenade; it would be able to bind the enemy if needed. I didn’t know if she was briefed on what they did, but I would mouth the words “foam grenade” to her. Generally they exploded once they hit a target and cover it in foam that instantly hardens around the target making it immobile. I would offer it to her, or keep it in my hand if she wanted me to back her up with it.
The breach is made and I walk in silently (silent steps) behind Nikki. When the footing fopa is made, my hand comes to the middle of her back to help steady her; I did notice that it was pretty much a sty in this place. Though the noise was loud enough for the creature to hear, it didn’t seem as if he noticed. The noise coming from the other room was loud itself. The large male demon would have a humanoid shaped body, but it would be incredibly deformed with hard crystal or rocklike structures jutting as almost an exoskeleton of its body. The arms would be huge in proportion to the rest of its body with odd bone/rock like deformations above its shoulders. - monster:
There would be a sound of heavy panting in between the woman’s shrill cry for help as she seemed to be wrestling for her life. The monster had her pinned down to the cot that was their bed and seemed to be strangling the nude woman. Not as dim as the other rooms, demonic candles would be fixated in various places of the bedroom almost as if it were a place of sacrifice.

| | The sound of the woman struggling for air sent a cold shiver down my spine as I decided to stop it. No one was going to die, unless their deserved it, on my watch. Moving quickly and giving a damn about the sound that I made, I kick the door off it hunches and take aim at the big humanoid monster that was standing above the woman. Giving it no second thought I squeeze the trigger as my mental crosshair had been place at its upper chest. The first bullet leaves the barrel, closely followed by a second and a third, making the whole room vibrate from the massive force that the three bullets projected out into the room. I place both my hands onto the gun as the fourth, fifth shot is delivered in the same region, and my finger squeezes so fast that the sixth and seventh shot almost fall in unison. I take a step closer as my jaw locks and the last four bullets are sent directly into the monster’s chest cavity and head. For some reason the adrenaline had overcome my senses and despite being out of bullets, my finger continued to press the trigger a couple of time before I stopped, releasing a sighing “ooh” as I let the empty clip slide from the handle and make a clunk as it hits the floor.
My left hand quick goes to the holster and fishes out a new clip, which is quickly slid into place to replace the empty one. A ‘click’ indicates that its locked and operational again. Looking over towards the woman, I lower my gun to my side and offer my hand to her as I ID myself. “Im Office Luchana of the Division 12 Force. Are you hurt in anyway?” I ask as take a step closer towards her, knowing that she must have been terrified by the monster which I assumed had tried to kill her.

The sound of the struggle gets louder as does the woman’s breathing. The demon over her lifts his head back, moaning and looking up as he seemed to be doing something to her.
I notice Nikki pull away from me quickly as I witness her kick in the door and empty her clip. Through the doorway, I see the room light up with each shot from her gun. I was certain that whatever was in there probably wasn’t moving anymore.
As it turned out, the creature was as tough as it looked. It looked up to see Nikki pointing a gun at it and held a contorted face of confusion and anger. Too late. Nikki’s mastery over the handgun made her about a 75% shot with a pistol. Likewise 6 of her shots stuck the higher order demon, challenging his body’s defenses at a tenth of his life force each. His body is slammed into the wall behind him before it slides down to one knee, but lucky for him, the head shot was barely off from missing him. Crippled by the pain of taking several shots, his body hangs over as his large hand covers his chest. The woman screams in horror as she looks to Nikki, looks to the monster, looks to Nikki, and then to me as I enter into the room. “Oh my god Billy, are you okay?!” she yells out, her nude form rushing and crouching at the downed demon. I glance about the room to see the candles, bed, and a small box in the corner lowly playing metal music. “Oh…” I realize just before the woman turns to us. She yells, “why? What the fuck? You didn’t have to shoot him! We were role playing a rape, you assholes! Don’t you have sex fantasies?!” She turns back to him, “oh god, he’s not going to die is he? He’s barely breathing.” Instead of actually being concerned about the issue, of the demon being shot, I comment on something else entirely as my auramist ability allows me to realize, “she’s a demon as well…”

| | Its like my brain shuts off as my face peers to look at Jyn as he informs that she too is a demon. The woman’s cries had not really hit me yet, as for me this was a job and the goal was simple. The demon had shown its true form in the human realm and thus it needed to be sanctioned. I take a few steps away from the bed so that I was by Jyn’s side. Giving him a stare that could be considered as cold and emotionless, I use my left hand to drag the slide of the gun back, making the first bullet from the clip to fall into the chamber – making the gun ready for use. Walking forwards towards the female, I take aim at her boyfriend who is slowly dying and take aim while standing a mere feet behind her, squeezing the trigger once. The roar of the gun echoes off the walls as the muzzle makes the room light up for a short second as the bullet leaves the barrel. The slide slides back on its own from the bolt gun action and immediately put another bullet it the chamber, ready to be fired.
My aim goes from the now presumed dead demon to the back of the female’s head as my voice breaks the silence which were only filled by the sound of the music from the box. “Two options; Come with us peacefully, or join him” I don’t look at Jyn as I gave the female the choice, and I at this point I wouldn’t even flinch a second if she was to try anything, as it was me who were holding the gun and it was me who were in charge. Poking the gun to the back of her head, I clear my throat as I speak again, this time my voice being a bit more firm that the last. “You got sixty seconds to answer! If you fail to give your answer by that time, you will be taken into custody and brought to the Metro for interrogation!”

The dying demon is struck with a kill shot as his body reacts violently to the strike and slams against the wall once more. His body slides to the side, leaving a brush-like swipe of blood on the beige wall behind him before coming to a slump on the ground. The woman panics and instinctively moves to the demon, but she is halted in her tracks as the gun is brought to the back of her head. She turns her head only slightly to look to Nikki out of the corner of her eye before she would start sobbing and weeping, both for her life and for the life of her dead companion. Between sobs she would inquire why they were doing this to them, they hadn’t done anything. She would also moan out insults and call him inhuman; something interesting coming from a demon. In a hoarse tone, she yells to Nikki that she was not going anywhere and for her to get out of their house.
During this process, the gun that had come into my hand morphs into shadows and runs back up my sleeve to my arm where the tattoo recreates itself. It seemed that Nikki had things under control here and I was able to witness her growth first hand. She did not seem as if she were going to break down this time, but it was still too early to tell; the female demon was doing well to mimic true human emotion. Before Nikki shoots, I would ask, “do you know anything about the Pillars? …Or the Pillar Demons?” The woman does not give back a coherent answer, but it basically seemed as if she did not know. With a nod, I accept that, figuring that it wouldn’t hurt to try and ask it.

| | I hear the woman’s sobs and cries which for some reason did not awake any sympathy within me at this point, as all I could focus on now was that despite me giving her a second chance she had refused it and this sent a jolt through my system as I reply with a rapid “Insa (too fucking bad)!” I then take a step forward as slam the stock of the gun to the back of her head. The hit was not so hard that it would permanently hurt her, but it would knock her inner lights out and make it easier for us, or rather me to think about what I wanted to do next. I turn to Jyn as I am still holding my gun, my eyes opening up form their narrow state as I point out what I had planned. “Let’s take her back in with us; maybe she can help us locate others! Now, since you clearly are the strongest of us two, I think you shall have the honour of carrying her down to the enforcer.” I chuckle the last bit as I crouch down and roll the woman onto he back, brushing her hair out of the face as I remark on her astonishingly beauty. “How can such a beauty turn into such a monster?” I ask as I poke her forehead with the gun, making sure that she is unconscious.
Standing back up, I take a few steps back before having a more thorough look at the room. I turn my attention to the box that was still spewing out metal music and turn it off before standing back up. “How can someone have sex to such rabble? And such a smell!” I stated as I for the first time since entering the bed room felt the awful smell of rotten food and moist and fungus. I had yet to take a closer look at the monster, which I had so coldheartedly executed and in truth, I did not really want to. All I wanted was to get out of this room, this building and this part of town and back into the comforting security of the metro or my own home. “Let’s get going, the gun shots would definitely have made someone curious. Now help me get this chick to the car” I say as I holster my gun and grabs her arms, motioning with my head that Jyn should take the legs.

While Nikki deals with the woman, I pull my cell out and proceed in thumbing in a number before sending the audio to my earpiece. I stand by as I watch Nikki render the woman unconscious before turning to me. Honestly, it would have been easier for me if she had simply killed the woman; something told me that she probably would not kill a demon in full human form who pleaded with her. That much was fine though, I needed Nikki to be efficient, but not soulless. To her chuckle followed comment, I lie, “I hurt my ankle just now.” A voice comes onto my earpiece as I turn my back to Nikki and speak into the it stating, “two demons have been neutralized in the earlier call for the I9 apartment district. It’s fine to dispatch a cleanup crew; one of the demons is still alive, but bound and unconscious.” I get my confirmation that the crew would be there in five minutes before lifting my finger to the earpiece and disconnecting the call. Looking toward Nikki who was talking about getting the body to the car, I advise, “that’s not necessary, we have departments that do that type of thing for us.” Looking down at her, I frown slightly as I add, “And I don’t need her dirtying up my Enforcer.” I referred to the silver glistening liquid that had, at some point, streamed from her recently penetrated vagina; it seemed as if we had caught them at a very bad time. I reach behind my back, pulling out a pair of spirit cuffs, which would bind the woman’s arms much like handcuffs while disabling her ability to use magic. I toss the cuffs to Nikki to put on the woman as I assure, “it’s fine; I’m not sensing any spirits in this complex. They may have heard the shots and fled the area. The rumors are that police will kill demons on sight, so the weak ones tend not to stick around. Still, we’re going to need to get you a silence for that thing.” I was one to talk, since I either didn’t have one myself, or rarely ever used it. Partially while talking, I walk casually from the bed room, through the short hall to the other bed room as I glance into it, seeing that it was just as dirty as the rest of the apartment. With my back to her, I admit, “you did well though. Impressive.”

| | Catching the cuffs in the air, I carefully cuff the woman’s arms and legs together so that if she were to wake up, she would be an almost impossible task to try to escape. I chuckle at his comment about her dirtying his enforcer, which caused me to go up behind him and station myself in the doorway, leaning against its frame, as I look at him walk about. “So would it be ok if I dirtied it?” my voices were filled with tease, as he had to force myself not to giggle upon the fantasy that began to unfold in my mind. His silencer comment goes by unnoticed and I just got back to my thinking self as he complimented me on the task that had just been done. “You think so?” I ask as I let my eyes fall back to the woman that was now lying on her side with both arms and legs cuffed. “I didn’t feel anything when I shot him, all I felt was disgust! But she, I couldn’t…” I said as I was staring at her, trying to understand why I was not able to dispose of her like I had her lover.
Pushing myself off the frame, I take some steps into the room and crouch by an old newspaper, reading its title to myself before rising back up again, taking a small round in the room before stopping by the window and turning to Jyn. “Three months ago, I wouldn’t even have known that there were demons and spirit’s among us, and if you’d tried to explain it to me, I would have simply brushed it off and called you a lunatic.” I chuckled as take a few steps closer to him. “Do they fight back? Or do they always run away?” I ask him as I wanted to learn more about the demons and spirits, but also understand them, so that I maybe at one point in the future could be able to voice a opinion of my own.

The night wasn’t going so bad thus far. We had one kill, and two in custody with one being a spirit type. It might end up being an interesting patrol after all; the night was still young. My gaze lingers across the filthy bed room, opposite the one being occupied by the unconscious female demon. Her words come in the background as I merely glance around the area. I didn’t think any place like this would have any clue in it to anything important. The comment with the sexual undertone was noticed. I give an internal ‘Hmm…’ as I recognize that she had been making those types of jokes pretty often. I figured it might just be a part of her attitude, much like guys joked in that manner. I didn’t figure she meant anything by it, but I wondered if I should rile her feathers a little… maybe it would be ‘social’ of me. I hear the explanation from behind me with my back to her. Without turning I nod, and assure her, “that’s fine. She didn’t have to die; maybe there can be some use for her. But keep in mind that her life isn’t the same as a normal human’s. Spirits like her don’t start off physical, they eventually become physical after a while of being in this realm, so killing them only really sends them back to where they came. They go back to a place called Onitoshi. It’s basically hell… a den of disorder where the chaotic spirits live. I’ve been there, but only once… and I was forced to go. It wasn’t extremely pleasant.” I turn towards her as she continues to speak and answer her other questions as I walk towards her stating, “think of them as junkies; some fight, some run… we bust them. That’s our job; it doesn’t need to be any more complicated than that.” I make it to the window where she had come to a stop. Coming within close proximity of her I lift my palm to rest it on the wall to the side of the window pane where she stood with my body pinning her position, leaning into her as I ask in a calm tone with my gaze to her eyes, “…and if I asked you to dirty up my Enforcer… would you be okay with it?”

| Standing on the balcony of my townhouse I look up at the night sky and let out a light sigh. Slowly I shift my gaze across the sky before pulling it from the dark entity that resides above the city and look down at my watch for a moment. " Perhaps I should give him a call. " I murmur as I notice the late time on my watch. With the comment I begin to reflect upon my abrupt departure from the division once again, though unlike last time, this time I had made it official and taken a leave of absence for personal reasons. With a faint nod I turn my gaze from my watch and back to the sky as I slip my hand into my coat pocket and fish around until I find my phone. Taking hold of my phone I pull it from my pocket and turn my gaze to it as I press the power button to turn it back on before I begin to search for Jyn's number. As Jyn's name comes up I pause for a moment as I look at his name. It had been a while since I last talked to him. While looking at the name and number I pause for a moment, thinking once again on my decision to call him and probably get the gears moving on getting back into the squad and protecting the city. After a moment longer of looking at his name I finally hit the send button and bring the phone up to my ear and wait for Jyn to pick up.

It seemed like right after I asked that question to her, teasing in a visage of all seriousness, my cell phone vibrated. Excusing myself and negating the necessity of that answer, I lean back and reach for my phone as I turn my side to her and look at the name on the caller ID. I see that it was from Ingel; with that knowledge I knew that I had to take this call. It had been a while since he had taken off; he hadn’t really been the same, in my eyes, since the trip back to the past realm. I knew that something like that could really mess with someone perception of life and make them question a few things. The Division had been very understanding to him in his time off, but I wondered if this call was for him coming back. Momentarily forgetting about Nikki and our current interactions, my back is turned to her as I press the button to answer the phone, transferring the audio to my ear piece. After the audio is transferred over, I return the phone to my pocket as I casually answer my teammate’s call, “yes? This is Commissioner Asei.”

| | Back On The Job?
Waiting silently as the phone continues to ring I think about what to say to Jyn when he does pick up. When the ringing stops and I hear Jyn's voice, I remain silent for a moment. I knew he was going to pick up since I was calling him, though for some reason some part of me didn't want him to pick up, but I was glad to hear his voice. Slowly my lips curled back into a light smile as I finally broke my silence, " Hello Jyn, or should I call you Commissioner Asei? " I say somewhat jokingly. Even though he is my boss, with the amount of time I have spent with the man and what I have been through with him, he doesn't feel much like a boss to me. " I've been thinking about my leave of absence... " I say before pausing as I shift my gaze back up to the sky and let out a soft sigh. I have been wrestling with the topic of either going back to the Division and working once again or not going back at all, either way I knew the topic had to be addressed and the only way that was going to happen was if someone took the initiative, though I had yet to come to a complete decision on the matter. A great deal of me still believes int he cause and what I did to protect the people of the city and those I care for and love. While a part of me desires to turn away from that life.

| | Gently biting my lower lip, turn lightly in the doorway with a short giggle as I answer with a hinting voice. “I don’t like dirtying something on my own though.” I can barely finish my sentence before his cell started ringing and he apologized and turned around, leaving my alone for a short second as I began to move towards him. With the hands on my back I would casually stroll over towards his back, gently going up on my tip toes as I would place my chin upon his shoulder, cocking my head to the side as I would stare at him while he would be on the phone talking to this mysterious person which I yet had no idea who was. I had not been this close to a man in ages and the fact that he had been, at least I would think so, hinting towards something more than just a simple patrol got me all curious and girlish. Normally I hated to be surprised, be it with presents or just for the fun of it, but I did not dislike it, just hated not knowing something that I maybe should have.
Giving the whole ordeal a swift thought before I pushed it away, I would lift my chin up from his shoulder and drop back down onto my own level as I would stroll towards the door, making sure that I would wiggle my butt a little extra to the sides with each step to maybe provoke some reaction from this ‘o so’ mysterious man of a boss. Coming out into the hall way, I would hurry down towards the stairs, stopping by a dark glass window which worked very good as a mirror. Standing in front of this dark piece of glass I began to make small adjustments to my clothing and hair, making it a bit more ‘girl-on-a-club’ style and adjusting my belt so it would be easier to remove, just in case he did have something in his mind – better to be prepared right?

The familiar voice greets me in a familiar manner. I was used to people referring to me as the commissioner, and since I didn’t have any ‘friends’ only my girlfriend or ex ever really referred to me as Jyn… but then there was this guy. I knew it was probably unnatural for him since we started off as acquaintances and I just happened to pull him into this job, but his informality always rubbed me slightly the wrong way just due to the differences in our natures. I listen to what he has to say, not interrupting of speaking anything; during this process, I feel something on my shoulder. My gaze shifts from the corner of my eye to the side to see the young lady’s face looking back at me. She seemed very informal as well. The thought hadn’t run through my mind that she may have taken my teasing seriously, so I would assume this was her normal nature. I would allow a greater amount of casualness between the members of my special squadron than I would anyone else in the division… though I would have to think twice about allowing Ted or Tapp to rest their head on my shoulder. Returning my attention to Ingel, I warn, “you know if you leave the Division, we’ll have to hunt you down and kill you right?” The tone was dead serious, but it would be me joking again; I was sure he would get it. I continued, “but what was it that you’ve been thinking about?”
While talking, there would be a knock at the door. The door would push open slightly as an officer would announce his arrival stating, “Commissioner?” Turning to notice them, I saw that they were the clean-up crew here to purge the scene of any spiritual evidence; this apartment would probably look like knew by the morning. Behind that officer comes three more as I motion to Nikki as I was on the phone. The lead officer turns his attention to Nikki as he speaks, “ma’am, anything we should know before we begin performing cleanup?” They would require just a basic briefing on the situation. As far as everything else, Nikki and I would be finished here.

| | As Jyn continued to talk on the phone, I jumped when he said that if the person on the phone were to leave, they would kill him, which sent a shiver down my back as I thought of my own future. It is then that an officer appear in the doorway, approaching Jyn first, but since he was on the phone, he motioned them over to me, which were standing there like a pillar, trying to make myself invisible as I had no clue what to tell them. “Ehm… uh… there is one dead, and the other one is cuffed inside the bedroom. Might be some bullet holes in the wall along with the blood. For the cuffed one – she’s just knocked out, was trying to defend the demon from so we had to cuff her” I nod as I finish my sentence, quiet satisfied with my result on the first briefing. Turning my attention back to Jyn, I decide to take a seat on the frame of the window, using my hands to lift my bum up on the edge so that I could sit and watch him talk on the phone.
While sitting there, I decided to see if I actually was able to flip him off his pedestal of self control and simply placed my hands on the edge of my trousers, casually but still carefully tugging them downwards, making my cyan thing show over the edge. My face was also playing the same game as one of my hands had trailed the contours of my body and was now firmly planted with little finger in the corner of my mouth as I looked at Jyn. Letting a short whimper escape my lips as I jump of the edge and head straight for Jyn, I lean in and whisper in his free ear. “Shall we continue our ‘patrol’?” I ask teasingly as I gently tuck at his collar, pulling him closer as I put pressure on the last word, giving it a twisted sounding reason. Letting go of his collar, I begin to head for the door, stopping in the doorway as I motion for him to come with the index finger on my left hand as I disappear behind the corner.

The men would accept the briefing from Nikki and thank her for the heads up. They assure her, “we’ll take care of everything here, leave it to us.” With that, the lead male turns to the others and nods before they make their way to the back of the room to start from the back and work their way to the front.
During my talking and while listening to Ingel’s counter response, when it came, I would watch the men move, my eyes following them as they went to start the clean up. Since there was no more reason for us to be here, I turn towards Nikki with the intention of motioning for us to leave. As my eyes reach her, I notice her tugging down at her pants in a seductive manner. Teal? Or was it Cyan? Unconsciously, my gaze shifts up the contours of said body and her actions cause me to raise an eyebrow slightly. I am able to understand that perhaps I had made a mistake in counter teasing her and she took my offer seriously. My thoughts were along the line of things could get complicated if this continued. Before being able to set the record straight and still on the phone with Ingel, I find myself teased and beckoned to the car before I could get out anything. I simply stood there for a moment, slightly distracted at what all just happened; I didn’t know how to handle a situation like this. I didn’t fully recognize if it was still playful joking, or was she really heavily flirting with me? If it were still playful joking and I got all serious now, that would just make me look like an asshole of a boss. If she were serious and I rejected her, then that could mess things up in the chemistry of my team, if I led her own, that could mess me up, and if I partook in her, I could really get messed up by one of two insanely powerful women. Still, I did have to admit that Nikki was pretty alluring. I figured that was what I got for trying to act outside of my element and pretend to be social. I figured she was just getting me back for the stunt I pulled; there was no way she had been flirting with me since the beginning of the patrol; we were teammates. I conclude that I was really bad with people and my interactions as I follow behind, heading to the door, exiting and moving to the stairs to descend in the direction of the Enforcer. If Ingel were saying a lot, then I would answer with “ah,” “ok,” or “I see.” If he were short, there might be a bit of dead air where it would be obvious that I was distracted.

| | Descending the stairs a few meters ahead of Jyn, my mind is spinning around as I a train of thought started to circle around on it tracks. ‘What if he thinks im cheap? What if he doesn’t like me? Can I get kicked out of the division? What if he takes it serious?’ a typical way of only seeing the negative side of things had began to display itself as I reached the bottom with the door. Stopping for a moment I noticed that the last two flight of stairs had passed by fairly quickly and judging by my pulse I had actually ran down them. Adjusting my hair slightly, I would head out without waiting for Jyn and head over to the enforcer, which was locked! Instead of leaning against the hood, I would carefully lift myself up and station my rear onto it, sitting there with my feet crossed, waiting for the hunk of a boss. I had begun to also think of might happen, now that we were supposed to go back patrolling, or if we would indeed ‘dirty up’ the enforcer. The thought had its own affect except creating a uncertain feeling as it made my body react, react in ways which might seem inappropriate for woman considering the circumstances. My lips became slightly redder and warm. The hair in my next rose as a tickling feeling spread down my spine before transplanting itself into my abdomen and chest where it would spread outwards, filling my entire body – arousal! “Crap…” I said to myself aloud as my hands rested on the knees while I was trying to figure out a way to get this over with, either with or without his help – or maybe he actually meant what he was saying? Shaking my head again, I let my body slide down from the hood and I begin to walk around it towards the passenger side, awaiting for Jyn to unlock the car.

I come to as I replay in my mind what Ingel was talking about. I translate his words that he wanted to come back into active duty, which was fine by me. I understood that I put a lot on him trying to promote him to a captain’s status among the special squadron, and that might have been a bit much on him all at once. He seemed to be more of a team player than a leader, which was fine. I could and would continue to run logistics within the team while balancing the duties of the commissioner. As I proceed towards the outside of the apartment and down the stairs, I comment, “I’m glad to hear that.” About him taking lead, I assure him, “I understand. For now we’ll focus on working as a team and I will continue to lead. There is a new member to our team that you should become acquainted with as well. Do this, come to my office on the 12th floor tomorrow. We’ll get you briefed and back into active duty. I’ll call in Nikki for you to meet her as well, that’s the name of the new team member.”
Speaking of Nikki, my gaze looks up to see her sliding off of the SUV and moving to the passenger side of the vehicle. As her back is to me and she is walking to the passenger side, I take that moment to admire her rear. This would be several days after Shiori slapped me and left my office, but a week or so before Izumi would probably be back. It had been a while since there was a release on my end… but I couldn’t do that with someone under my direct command… plus I was still getting to know Nikki. I started to wonder if our playfulness had gotten to me. If I tried to make a move on her, she would probably think I was some creepy boss who took advantage of his position. I unconsciously sigh slightly as I press the button on the keychain to unlock the doors as I make my way around to the driver’s side. I open the door and pull myself up and into the driver’s seat. As Nikki was getting in, I inform, “we’re actually on a patrol at this moment. She secured two higher orders herself, it was impressive for a rookie.”

| | The car is unlocked from a distance as Jyn finally exited the building, allowing me to finally get into the car and hopefully leave my thoughts behind outside. While he was still on the phone, I would get into the seat, remove my jacket and put on the heater while looking in the mirror, checking up on my makeup and hair to see if it was in proper lady condition. After a few minor adjustments, I for some reason lick my lips as my eyes innocently glides over Jyn as I put the mirror back in and turn to the stereo. For a few seconds I was just staring at Jyn from within the car, there was no reason for me to stare either! Swallowing the thought that he had seen my stare, I dive into the stereo, trying to occupy my mind with something else – which completely failed as I hit the radio and the song U2 “All because of you~” blasted over the stereo for a short second before I was able to switch channel into something more of my style with slow beats and rhythm. However, the damage had already been inflicted! I found myself yet again to be looking at Jyn, feeling my pulse rise every time I thought he looked at me. As he sat into the car, I would keep my eyes on him but the second he would be able to look at me, I would change my gaze to look forwards, always trying to pull my eyes back to him. Deciding to get us both busy before my mind would be completely absorbed by Jyn, I would suggest, “Should we get back on the road? Think we have quiet some ground to finish before we can call it a night.” Then it was like the devil stole my tongue as I turned silent, very silent! A blush crawled its way around my face as I peeked at him with all my strength from the corner of my eye while thinking ‘He’s so han-‘ I snap out of my thought and force my gaze elsewhere, trying to not look at him.

I figured that I would talk to him in greater detail tomorrow and see how everything was going at home and with his life. I remembered something about a baby or other, but I never heard how that turned out. Hopefully this was an indication that he was ready to move on with things; time would tell. He might have gotten off the hook and it wasn’t his… Either way, while on the conversation, I would simply recline back in the seat with the door still open and my gaze towards the front of the vehicle. I respond and end out the conversation with, “ok, that sounds good. See you in the morning.”
With that, my hand lifts up and I press the button on my earpiece to close the call. Turning to grab the door, I pull it close, but then wince lightly at the sudden volume of the stereo as I look down to see Nikki fiddling with the radio station. It is switched to something a bit smoother, and with her words my gaze shifts to her face and I agree, “yes, you’re right. Let’s keep going.” Looking to the ignition, I put the keys in and start the Enforcer before putting it in gear and pulling out of where we were parked. While doing this, I inform, “that was the captain I told you about that you’ve never seen just now.” I brake and put the SUV into forward gear and start to pull forwards. The Enforcer returns to the city streets and driving begins again. Glancing over to Nikki while driving, I inform, “he’s going to be returning to active duty as of tomorrow, I’m going to have you both meet tomorrow morning in my office, so be ready for that.” Patrol and all, I still had to be at work bright and early. With that kind of in mind, I look about our current surroundings finding them familiar. I advise, “there’s a shop around here I go to when on patrol to get some coffee. We can grab something warm to drink before heading back out.” Because I would be asking Nikki to come into my office in the morning, I would probably call and have someone cover the second half of her patrol. Time flies when you’re having fun; about an hour had passed since the patrol had originally started. Continuing on the suggestion to go by a quickie shop, I continue, “Since it’s your first patrol, I’ll treat you, just don’t tell the others. What do you want me to get you?” The shop was close by, coming up on the right.

| | My lips for into a smile as he seemed to ease up by asking if I wanted some hot beverage on his bill, which for me was a big step in the ‘right’ direction. Slipping from my lips before I was able to stop it, I replied with a giggle “A hot cup of you would be nice” which I quickly realized early and corrected a split second later into “A hot latte would be nice.” My cheek changes colour into a soft shade of pink as I hide my face towards the opposite window, hoping that he did not hear the first comment, which I knew inside that he had, which forced me to change it into, hoping he was not offended by it. Turning back to Jyn in order to get a conversation that was not oriented on either of us, I ask about Ingel. “So how is this person I’m meeting tomorrow? Is he like the other guys?” I asked as I referred back to Tapp, Michael and Ted. I was hoping this person would be a mixture of them all, since most of the people were very one sided and one was mysterious (Jyn) me personally I had no clue about, other than me being quiet divers compared to someone like Michael or Ted.
“Also, what would happen if I told the girls back at the hq that the boss himself bought me beverage on patrol?” I ask teasingly, imagining the reaction of the other girls. They would start to fly around and ask all kinds of weird questions, while some would become jealous and other would really give a damn. “Would I be punished for doing that?” I ask again, though this was more in the joking fashion as I put on a pair of puppy eyes and pouted lips towards him to seem as innocent as possible.

“I’m not sure how I taste…” I speak calmly with my gaze on the road ahead of me. Her words had gotten to and amused me, though it might not be clear. My visage was a bit light and not the annoyed scowl I held at times without knowing it. Still, I was glad that Nikki would continue to be so casual with me and I hadn’t messed up our interaction with my teasing in the apartment. So long as she knew I was the boss and there was no disrespect or insubordination, then everything should go well. I wasn’t unaccustomed to being teased, since Tapp often ragged on me. Only I met his words with a cold gaze to which he seemed to take amusement to. I figured things were different with Nikki because she was cute. It was actually interesting since I’ve never really interacted with anyone like this before, but I felt like I was started to understand her a little bit, even if I were off base. My gaze shifts to her, but her face was hidden from me. I nod accepting the order of the latte and confirm, “latte it is.”
Answering her question while looking about the area, I comment, “I’m not sure. He’s normal, I suppose. He’s generally late to everything, but he’s good with a rifle…” I realize that if I described him, it would end up reading off like a Division 12 performance report. I suffice with, “I’m not good at describing people.” Reaching the area, the Enforcer slows down as I begin to turn into the 24 hours quickie mart. I continue, “Hmm… then I might have to buy lunch for the entire department. I’d take it out of your pay, though.” Parking the car, I open the driver door and step out walking around the front to the automatic doors that was to the right of the SUV. I would wait in front of the vehicle for Nikki if she were coming before continuing into the shop.

| | My eyes widened as he actually replied to the first thing I had said. However, what he had said only put fuel to the already fantasizing mind of mine as I turn towards him, replying in a teasing, but still serious voice that even surprised me. “I can taste you if you want…” my hands shot to my face to cover my mouth as I immediately turned towards the window, ashamed and surprised at what I had said to my boss. Feeling as I was shrinking in my seat, I stared at the picture of Jyn that was reflected of the window, my mind spinning as I tried to come up with something to explain what I had just said. Thankfully, he had broken the silence, as I was still dead silent – again!
As he put down what I had asked for I shoot up from my seat and are stopped by the seat belt as I turn towards him, shooting my hand towards the roof as I speak up “Ooh, can I get whipped cream on top?”Before immediately responding to the description of the new person, I was supposed to meet tomorrow. “Hmm, seems like most of you are sufficient with rifles. Ted with the sharpshooter and Tapp with the rambogun.” I noted as I finally got the nerve to look straight at him again. “Guess I rather keep my mouth shut then, there is no way I can afford a lunch that big!” I chuckle as car slowly stops. Unbuckling myself, I reach back to grab my jacket before I would open the door and step out. Out of the car, I throw the jacket around and in the same motion put it on as I walked towards the automatic doors after slamming the SUV door shut. As I reached the doors and they slid open, it was if I had forgotten what I had said in the car only seconds earlier and were more looking forward to a hot latte with whipped cream. Turning after I had entered, I would wait for Jyn before I would begin to wander the store.

Thinking back on her words about us all being good with a rifle as I wait for her, I almost break a grin. The truth was that I was probably the worst on the team with a rifle… that was if you didn’t count Michael. As non combat personnel, he didn’t really count for anything, infantry wise. In my mind she could have it any kind of way she wanted it; hopefully they would have whipped cream for her. I knew how much it sucked when I came and they didn’t have the right creamer.
My gaze follows Nikki as she gets out and get into her jacket. I wondered if she were warm blooded or temperamental. I normally left my jacket on, but she seemed to like to take off clothes. Walking into the store, there is a light chime with our entry. The male behind the counter welcomes us into the store with a “good evening officers” showing that he recalled me from before and assumed Nikki was with me. I return his nod before pausing and thumbing to Nikki as I stated, “I need some whip cream for her, do you have any.” The merchants eyes get wide for a moment and he looks from me, to her, then back to me. He smile and shakes his head stating, “you might need a bit more than whip cream.” I raise an eyebrow as he points, “it is in the dairy fridge near the back. I don’t have any for the coffee, so you will need to buy the whole can.” I comment, “that’s no problem, as I walk back to get the whip cream for Nikki. The merchant gives a “psst” as he motions for Nikki to come over and reaches beneath the counter and holds up a golden packet stating, “he’s the commissioner of the secret police, right? He does so good in keeping the crime away when he patrols this area. Have this one the house.” He tosses the packet to Nikki and winks, “strawberry flavor to go with the whip cream!” He gives her a thumbs up and tells her, “do your best, young lady!”

Reaching the rear of the store, I make it to the dairy freezers and look inside beneath the milk seeing the whipped cream. I was in luck since there was only one left. Taking it out, I check the expiration date on it making sure it was good before making my way back up towards the front counter. Reaching the counter, I set the canister of whipped cream on the counter and advise the male that I would have a coffee, black, and to also add a hot latte with it. The man moves behind the counter to the coffee machines and proceeds in retrieving both orders before coming back and setting the cuts before me on the table. My hand displaces my coat as it reaches behind me, pulling my wallet out of my back pocket before opening it and handing over my card. He makes an off comment that whip cream went well with strawberries. I thank him for the advice and point out that there were no strawberries in the store, but I would keep that in mind. There’s a chuckle from him as he answers, “yes, sir, very good” and then swipes my payment card before returning it to me. “Nikki,” I call if she wasn’t already at my side as I place the card back into my wallet and then into my pocket. I pick up the latte and offer it to her as well as the can of whip cream. It was a lot just for the latte, but I let her just keep it in case she made coffee at home or something like that. I take my coffee, thank the male and then head for the door. As I walk out the male would wave at Nikki and give a thumbs up.

| | As Jyn called for me, I would place the magazine back down and walk over to his side, taking the latte that was handed to me along with the cream before I turn and move towards the door. I turned to see if Jyn was coming as well, but the moment I saw the man’s arm in the air I turned again, not really knowing why I still had the packet in my pocket. Reaching the car, I would take a careful sip of the latte to taste it before I would apply cream to it. The taste was good and I licked my lips as I could feel how the warm liquid heated my body as it travelled inside me. My thoughts go to the small red package that is hidden in my pocket. Was he serious? He couldn’t… or could he? I thought to myself as I carefully opened the lid of the coffee and applied a decent amount of cream onto it before put lid back on.
Looking at the tin of cream I wondered what I would be doing with it, now that I had filled my need for cream and were left with a whole tin of it. Looking at Jyn a sudden thought would race through my head as I thought of the strawberry flavoured rubber and the cream. “It’s sad that don’t have strawberries, it would be quiet good with the cream, no?” my intention was to simply tease him with the fact that the guy in the store had thought us to be lovers and not partners and hopefully Jyn would take the joke when I showed him the package. When Jyn would unlock the SUV, I would open the door and get into my seat again, though as I did I would fish the package out of the jacket pocket and carefully drop it down into the pocket of the door so I could take it out without him seeing it from his seat.

As I was getting out of the door and walking to the car with Nikki, my body freezes and I realize that I sensed something. I do not say anything or show any signs of worry; instead I calmly look around my surroundings. I knew there was a spirit out there that seemed to hold a good amount of power, but I could not pin point him. It seemed as if it were moving further and further from my sensing range in spurts edge and I could not feel it anymore. I thought it was odd that the signature of whatever I sensed vanished like that, but then suddenly it arrives next to me as if stepping out of a shadow in a manner that would walk him past me. For that moment, time would seem to slow as I felt him speak to me through my mind taunting, “so that’s your range… good to know. How are things going with Shiori?” Time seems to resume as a presumably normal black male with braids in a hoody and baggy jeans proceeds past me, rubbing his hands together as he walks into the store looking at Nikki’s ass as he walks by with a smile on his face before heading to the chips isle. A frown graces my lips as I watch him enter into the interior of the store. Suddenly, his signature became very familiar. I started to remember the signature from before, though that demon was in a different body then. I would slowly walk towards the Enforcer and stand by it; I would wait for him to come out of the store before approaching him. Looking to Nikki, has partially heard what she said. Distractedly, I snap out of it with a, “oh? Yeah… that’s right.” I wasn’t sure if that answered her question or not, but I focusing on the male within the store. I would be slow in getting to my door, opening it and merely sitting with my attention on the doorway of the mart. Speaking in a calm tone, I nod towards the market and inform, “that guy who just passed is a spirit with a decent amount of power. I’m going to wait on him… get ready just in case.”

| | I raise my brow as Jyn seem to suddenly change his behaviour like one would flip the page of a book. For some reason I looked around us, knowing that he must know something or felt something in the way he suddenly reacted. And it didn’t take long for him to verify my hunch as he pointed out the black man that had just walked past us to be a strong spirit. Taking no chance in this matter, or any matter that had spirit’s involved, I would remove my gun from my holster and keep it against my thigh, prepared to raise it a shoot if it the situation required me to. “How do you ‘sense’ these things?” I ask as I to shift my gaze to the door as my other hand goes back toward the jacket and fish it to my seat. Placing the jacket between my legs I continue to press the gun to my thigh as I take another sip from the latte. ‘guess we have to enjoy the strawberries and cream later’ I joked to myself as I tried to somehow think on how the sensing worked.
It was during this concentration and the latte that the idea hit me. “You think I would be able to sense spirits? Like, it’s just like swimming right? Once you’ve learnt it, you’ll never forget?” After having joined the division the world had suddenly gotten bigger, not only when it came my pay check, but the image I had about the world in general. There were realms, demons and spirits which all posed a threat to us, the humans and this had only been revealed to me after I had joined the division. Before that, I was oblivious, simply happy with being alive and having a job. “Something else you want to tell me about this thing?” I ask before taking another sip of my latte before placing it in the cup holder, preparing myself for the black man to exit the store.

“It’s an acquired skill,” I inform her with my calm gaze still on the door, “I spent some time around spiritual bodies… I picked it up, but I’ll teach it to you personally if you want.” While we are talking, I am able to hear the voice taunt, “ah, so you’re waiting for me to come out? Do you really think you can catch me?” I do not answer the voice back; I merely wait in the Enforcer to see what it would do monitoring his moves by feeling him out. He continues to my ignoring, “Okay, well, let’s do this then. I’ll give you a ready to chase me! You won’t do any good inside of that truck though!” I suddenly leave the cup on the dash and open the door of my car in the middle of her speaking informing, “he’s moving.” Suddenly the male bursts through the glass door and rockets past the mart to the alleyway beside it. He had gotten a jump on us, but already getting out my car, I knew that we could take chase and bring him down. Looking to her, I order, “Nikki, you follow him and I’ll go around and cut him off.” With that, my body ninja vanishes as I take the opposite route, appearing out of sight around the corner of the building. All I needed her to do was to keep a visual on him and keep the pressure on, I would be able to catch him off guard and cut him off if all went according to plan.

| | Already knowing that something was up the moment Jyn placed his coffee on the dash and opened his door, I would begin to open my door, which seemed to be lucky as in the next second the black man came racing out of the market and stormed for the nearest alley. Rushing out of the car, my jacket fall to the ground, but doesn’t hinder my in any way as I dart after him, holding my gun on my right hand as I jump over a few boxes that blocked part of the entrance as I lock my eyes onto the man’s back. Using my whole body to run after him, I decide not to shout and focus on running, saving the energy and air for when I really needed it. The alley was packed with bin’s, crates and what not and it seemed that this guy already knew where everything was positioned as he never had to change this footing, not once! While I had to constantly, take leaps and cut corners to avoid the derbies to not fall and hurt myself.
Suddenly the alley took a sharp right turn, and judging by the man’s speed he had no intention of stopping to ambush me and so I continued to push on, using the wall to jettison me around the bend, accelerating my speed by a few notches as it seemed that I was gaining ground on him. A good yard ahead was a big fence and without noticing, the man seemed to run through it, as if it was not there. Partly startled by what had just happened and annoyed that I wasn’t able to catch up to him, I push myself further, using the wall to scale the fence and continue to chase him towards the end of the alley, where hopefully Jyn would be waiting with a solid elbow to the face or some other fancy move to get this guy down onto his knees.

The market tenant is late in coming out and yelling something about some chips being stolen, but on sight of Nikki chasing after the male, he would cheer her on and yell out, “he didn’t pay for those chips!” He looks at the Enforcer and shakes his head. “You can’t leave your car open in this side of town!” he says to himself as he walks over and closes the doors for us before going back into the store to complain about his damaged door.
The male would keep running as if his life depended on it with an impressive amount of speed, at least for human terms. He wouldn’t be so far that Nikki wouldn’t be able to keep up with him. I felt him coming around and in taking a turn, I knew I should be able to cut him off. I feel him stop suddenly, and he turns around, skipping backwards slightly as he looks to Nikki with a smile on his face and blows a kiss before he vanishes engulfed in a bright light. I round the corner, but by the time I get around it, he was already gone. I pause standing there, my chest heaving slightly as I catch my breath attempting to sense around for him before looking to Nikki with a questioning expression on my face. My breath is caught quickly and it was as if I hadn’t been running as a frown graces my lips and I murmur, “he’s nowhere in the area... he must be able to teleport… now annoying…” On the ground where he was before he vanishes was the chips he stole and a couple dollars bundled up. With a sigh, I look to Nikki and comment, “we might as well go… I’m going to have to pick up a solid realm pendant…” It could be told on my face that I was disappointed that this one seemed to get away, and so quickly on top of that. It was more so disappointing that he seemed to be messing with me.
