Another day, another sermon. The kami sat on the street curb and sighed, the last member of her congregation had departed after receiving some advice about her boyfriend who insisted on getting drunk and beating her every night, and the night had settled like some dark animal over the slums of the Commons.
In the alleyways, the darkness, she could hear the rustlings of wicked creatures... faint crunchings and hisses, hunters in the darkness looking for the homeless and others foolish enough to be out when the thick cover of night cloaked the eyes of any human witnesses and the police were more absent than usual.
The trailer was behind her, should she enter it, she could expect to spend the night unmolested. She couldn't detect any immediate threats, however, so she simply sat, absorbing the nasty air and reflecting over her time on Earth so far. She would have to add a praise and worship section to her sermon. She furrowed her brows in thought as she tried to recall one of the songs they used to sing in choir in heaven.

Her time of peace would have been interupted as a figure in flames suddenly flew by and crashed against the wall of a building. As the fire around this demon died, it would have been revealed to have dark hair that was in a single devil's lock that loomed over its face. Its nose was mere slits as it's glaring eyes briefly casted over the woman before to its attacker. The fire oni, Shou, stepped up to the curb, his attention first on the other demon before looking to his side and to Atilla. "Hmm? Interesting seeing you here." His appearance was slightly altered as the last battle he had, one with an angel like herself, brought some changes. The red hair down his back was long and flowing, lacking the braid that had usually held it together. It had been destroyed and he hadn't exactly figured out how to manifest such a thing back into his regular form just yet. A change of clothing had been neccessary as well as lightning had done some damage to what he once wore, and he dubbed a long-sleeved white zip-up shirt with a collar that popped up to come around his jawline. He was actually more or less refined in appearance with a basic leather belt and a pair of black slacks. After all, the oni had come to see better company these days and such a thing required something more acceptable to the environment of the city. Being a spirit, simply taking clothes from a shop provided no obstacles to him. "I'm a little busy, though. Can ya sit tight?" The oni grinned as his opponent hissed openly.

The woman ducked, blinking and simply saying, "Oh my..." despite the suddenness of the situation. When she brought her head back up, still on her knees with her hands covering her head, the first thing she spotted was the aggressor, who was admittedly, quite ugly.
But then her eyes fell on her "boyfriend" as it were, with his flame hued hair all about his shoulders and his collar popped and...
To tell the truth, she wasn't one hundred percent sure what exactly it was she wanted to do with him, having not seen any demonstrations in the past, but she tightened her legs a bit more as she knelt there, forgetting for the moment how she'd only meant to duck for a second because the sidewalk was dirty.
She wanted to cast a spell to strengthen him a little and better enable him to take care of this... apparently wicked spirit, but she'd quite forgotten her chants.

The snake demon suddenly moved from his position, away from the broken wall as he charged with abandon towards Shou. "Infernal flames!" The oni instinctively shouted, drawing forth the fire of his being. His opponent's head suddenly shot outwards away from its shoulders, its neck stretching to uncanny lengths as a pair of fangs came to bear down towards the lion spirit. Shou wouldn't have allowed that sort of attack to throw him off guard, drawing Mabushiiken out of its sheath and swiping across the air in a fluid motion, decapitating the other. "Sharpen your form!" He completed, taking a few steps forward to draw the distance between him and his opponent to a close as he thrusted his free hand outwards to the headless body of the other, Mabushiiken coming back down to his side. Flames suddenly bursted around the figure and came into the form of four swords, each of them surrounding the corpse, one from the back, two from the sides, and another directly above it. It became a trap of blades. The head reformed, as it had before in this fight, in a matter of seconds and the demon blinked at the sudden change of its surroundings. Shou snickered, before all four of the scimitars suddenly closed in and stabbed through the man with their fiery points. It was a fitting swift end now that he had played with this one enough and would have enjoyed the company of Atilla from here out. Turning away from the snake demon, the thud of its body against the ground greeted his ears while stepping forth to the curb again. Drawing his katana up, he rested the flatside of the blade against his shoulder while grinning to the woman. "Now. How've you been?"

The shy kami looked on at the fight with a sort of dread. For one, even though it was being carried out against an evil spirit, great amounts of violence were still something about this plane she was trying to get accustomed to. All spirits are ultimately related, after all.
Waving to Shou for a moment, and noticing that he was indeed making good use of the sword she gave him, she clasped her hands together and said a short prayer for the evaporating snake devil. "Oh Bleaus, your mercy endureth forever, please accept this lost soul into your bosom and help him find light in his next life. Amen."
Turning to the other, she found herself still a little uncomfortably wet as a bead of sweat slid down the back of her priestly garments. "I am doing fine... I finished with a sermon some time ago. I trust you are in good health?" Something ran through her head, a brief impulse, and she usually wasn't one given to impulses, but... "Was... it hard to kill him?"

Her prayer was interesting, as it was directed towards the oni that he had just disposed of. There would be no light in that one's next life, Shou believed, only the very fires that took him from this world. Snickering at her statement of his being in good health, him standing proudly as he was seemed answer enough for it, especially after having come victorious from his battle. "Hard?" Shou then repeated the word, thinking on it for a moment. "I guess at first, maybe. This sword helps a lot though." Shou stated, holding the blade out in front of him to look to it for a moment. He didn't forget who had gifted it to him, though. "It really was a great present. Hell, I love this thing all ready." The oni stated with a brief chuckle before slipping the katana back into its sheath. One of the added accessories onto his attire had been his belt with an appropriate clip for his sheath that would hold it there with sturdiness. It rested there at his hip as he freed his hands, before looking to the angel once more. "I don't suppose you've killed yet?"

The kami smiled gently, glad to see he'd found the gift useful. Anything to improve her chances of acceptance when she had to pop the eventual question...
Somehow the blade looked like something that belonged with his image. The way he looked now just wouldn't be complete without some sort of weapon. Maybe he just looked aggressive to her right now, she thought, her sleeve covering her mouth shyly as she looked up at the oni.
The question of killing seemed a very straightforward one, but an image, a dream almost, flashed through her mind... a large, black rat with a scar over his eye, clinging savagely to the throat of a more humanoid tiger fellow, a holy spirit like the one she'd become, the color and vitality draining from his eyes as his life bubbled from his throat, the rodent smiling and enjoying the taste of the scarlet liquid leaking messily into his mouth and dripping down their conjoined bodies, the claws of the beast eventually ripping his ribcage apart from his body to better enjoy the blood.
Blinking, the kami wondered where such a vision of carnage had arisen from. "No, I do not think it would be a good idea..." she replied quietly, at length. "Not a good idea. Such a thing would be your domain."
Specifically, she'd had an edict from heaven not to kill. Other kami who'd been sent to Yochi were allowed such a privilege, but she hadn't questioned the restriction as she never questioned anything else she'd been told by heaven.

Out of the several compliments she had come to give him, none had compared to what she had just stated. His domain was in killing? A smile spread across his lips, his chaotic nature obviously appealed by such a statement. "Ah. Well, if you don't want to I can't make ya. But eh.. weren't you saying something 'bout wanting to learn how to at least defend yourself?" Shou asked, placing a hand on his hip. If she chose not to end lives, she could at least gain the skills neccessary to self-preserve her own. The world was a dangerous one, after all, with oni lurking about. No matter how many demons he would come to strike and destroy, there would always be others out there to replace them. "We could get to that right now, yeah? Unless you're busy." She didn't seem to be, simply sitting there after having finishing up her preaching.

Atilla nodded enthusiastically at the suggestion that he show her how to defend herself. Once again, she would get the chance to see how strong he really was; she'd never pushed herself to test her own limits. Clapping her hands together for a moment, she heard a faint splash and saw a faint glow from between them, and that's what she'd been looking for.
"I am not busy, Takashou-sama. I think we should probably practice fight first so we can see where I am lacking, and... umm... not use your sword..."
Despite the high volume of the clap and subsequent splash of water, her voice was still gentle and monotone, steady even. She seemed to be trying to focus on something directly in front of the oni.

"I wouldn't think of it." Shou stated in regards to her concern over his blade. It wouldn't have been very polite to use such a weapon against her, especially since she had been the one kind enough to bestow it upon him. Hearing her agreement though, he nodded. He supposed he would have to tune it down a notch, though, robbing himself from the very thrill that was combat. The oni would do it for her sake, though. "You maybe wanna head to the fields just outside the forest? More space." Shou reasoned.

Dropping her eyes from the invisible thing in front of the other and looking instead at her own hands, the kami nodded slowly, speaking thoughtfully. "Okay. It is not that far away, is it?"

The oni would have guessed she knew the area since spotting her in the forest once before. He glanced over his shoulder down the street, figuring it must have been about three blocks away before they would come into the rockbottom of the slums where poverty amassed. Beyond that collection of tents and boxes would have been the fields he had mentioned, thinking briefly before shaking his head. "Nah, not too far away at all. Especially flying." Shou stated as he looked back to the angel, snickering as he lifted his foot off of the ground to stand upon a disc of flame that erupted outwards into being. "Were you ready to go now?"

The kami's trance broke for a minute when the fire sprang into being beneath the other and she was possessed by the sudden, powerful urge to jump on to and ride on his back, as she had while she was a mouse on a few occasions.
This thing she dismissed from her mind, however, a small swirl of sparkling, blue water emanating from her hands and crystallizing into a sparkling, golden sphere which she sat upon in her usual shy manner, deciding to follow the other instead of taking the initiative to travel in the direction she knew the field to be. She was here with him, after all.

The oni rose an eyebrow as he looked to the woman as she remained silent to his question, even seeming to be in a daze at some points. He supposed her hopping on the sphere that enabled her flight was answer enough, but he still found her behavior odd for the moment. "All right." Shou said, before the flame beneath his feet elevated into the sky as he stood upon it, slipping his hands into the pockets of his slacks. It would take him over the smaller buildings of the Lower Commons, all ready bringing the field to his sights as there weren't any of the skyscrapers the city held here, providing no obstacles to his course. Looking down among the people, though, he couldn't help but adopt a new outlook on the slums. Trash.

The kami followed the other over the disgusting slums and felt incredibly sorry that this is what a number of her parish members had to look forward to when departing her service. She said a small prayer, in the nonstandard language, as they passed over the particularly offensive cardboard boxes, eventually finding her feet touching the dew kissed grasses of the field between the shantytown and the deep woods. The fireflies weren't out tonight, but the sky was clear, stars twinkling agelessly in the dark blue sky. The moon was a mere slit, and visibility was fairly low, save the said starlight and the dim twinkle of candles and city lights to her back. She found herself squinting at the woods before her eyes resumed looking for the familiar fires of her partner. Something seemed off about tonight, it certainly wasn't the full moon...

As they left the city's lower commons, the oni spotted the fields before him. Atop his disc of flame, Shou flew out into the open space as his eyes trailed out over the area. The spot was perfect to the cause as it held little to no activity for the moment, only the two spirits that chose this open spot to train on the angel's defending. Perhaps she could have even forced him back into guarding himself, a grin growing at the thought. The oni turned in the air, lowering himself down as the fires of his platform licked at the tips of the grasses, the green darkening and burning away beneath his feet. His shoes came to crunch against the dead grass as the fire disc gave way, looking to the angel who's eyes seemed to come from focusing to the woods. Shou figured she might have been a little cautious being so close to the forest, her last encounter bringing her to meet some of the nastier spirits of the place. "Don't worry about any interuptions." The oni began, taking a step forward while his grin widened in confidence. "Before anything even takes off a single hair from that pretty head, they'll be roasted for sure."

Atilla snapped out of her short trance at the sound of the other's voice, blushing slightly at his compliment. Really, it was the lack of light that bothered her more than anything else. She could see best in the evening, but in poor light her sight began to fail her. The other being the only light source in the area would help her focus, however, and with that thought she felt this fight would have some semblance of fairness. "I suppose we shall begin then? Ambulabunt et non deficient."
After her chant, a cloud would suddenly pop into the sky, golden and stylized, and rain down blue, perfectly round raindrops that would fail to make anything they fell on wet. They would, however, soak into her clothes and make her glow for a short moment, her manner picking up an almost imperceptible amount of assertiveness that was always absent in her, or rather, a negative value. Already she could feel herself growing tired, combat not something she really put energy into in the past.

Unless I'm the one bringing the hurt, baby. Shou thought to himself with a light snicker, before noting the ability she casted on herself. He could recognize it from his time in the forest with her and was aware of the power boost that she was granting herself. This was a good thing, of course, as from his viewpoint she would need the all assistance she could muster. "Infernal flames." Shou began, fire suddenly coming to encircle and swirl about his form. "Sharpen your form!" The flames would then rapidly rotate around him before beginning to collect together and mold into the shape of scimitars. Four of them surrounded his being, each with their tips directed towards the angel in front of them. "This should be fun.." Shou murmurred with a grin, as one of the blades suddenly shot forward through the air and towards the woman.

PostSubject: Re: The Metal   Sat Oct 31, 2009 2:46 pm

The little mouse kami's eyes rose, viewing the fire that she'd been so afraid of when she was in her smaller mouse form forming into ominous blades. For a moment, the old fear returned, her head tilting down as the beginnings of a kind of terror began to seize her.
But then she looked up at the oni she'd come to care for so much. Surely she wouldn't be able to convince him to marry her if she could barely overcome her fear of his quintessential potential for hurt and destruction. She didn't seek to tame him, not in any great capacity, but she'd certainly need to become stronger herself... less fearful and more capable in her own right. Respect was important, after all. Most people outside of her church respected her for her great piety, but it was the sort of respect one gave to a deaf musician or a blind writer, as though her goodness were a curse in life and not a blessing. She couldn't say she felt that vibe from the demon before her, but then again, she willfully tried not to consider what he thought of her. Such things lead to paranoia, and paranoia never led anywhere good.
Thus, she refocused herself on testing the extent of both his and her abilities, just as one of the swords pointed its baleful, glowing tip at her and began rushing forward.
She didn't try to dodge it, rather, she crossed her arms in front of her and ducked her head slightly to brace herself against the power of its impact, one foot sliding out a bit behind her to help her stand her ground. It would dissolve against her arms, blackening her long sleeves and causing her robes to flow back from the slight wind generated by the heat, but all in all it wasn't as bad as she expected, which raised her confidence. It did, however, sting, and she really didn't want to take the remaining three. From the nature of the spell, she judged he might be able to attack with the others while he formed a new attack...
He might hold back and refrain from such a strategy, he might not, but she knew very few magix attacks herself that weren't of a healing nature.
Her head popped back up and she looked quizzical and unhurt. She felt the need to cast a counter spell, but right now she couldn't recall the words to the chant she'd used to flood this field in an earlier venture. The way she'd banged her knee had overridden any memorizing capabilities she'd held earlier. Absently, she began to chant in quick Latin: various scriptures and declarations, trying to recall which one exactly would open up the heavens. This one was much tougher than she was. He likely wouldn't go rolling back into a tree the way she had earlier, and this time she was ready for the deluge. If only she could remember those words...

He was pleased to see that she could take the hit like a champ, though the moment that followed brought a light 'tsk' from his lips. "You're not counter-attacking. That's bad." Her moment of hesitation wouldn't have been treated lightly, of course, as he didn't intend to let up now. Two more blades suddenly shot away from his sides and towards the angel who seemed to be caught up trying to recall something. Shou would then charge forward after the fire scimitars, though his speed wouldn't match the magic. To his side one blade remained, his arm stretched out towards it as his fingers gripped around the fiery hilt. If she responded like she had the first time, she would block away these hits and allow him to close the distance between the two of them and strike up close. Perhaps even an opening would have brought itself to his attention. As the weapons of flame neared, one aimed high and the other low.

Aqua fortis? No... that was nitric acid. Aqua vitae? No... that was alcohol... or "booze" as they called it on this plane. She really wished she'd put more effort into learning magix back in her day and less time memorizing scriptures, though she'd been opposite the other students in that aspect. To be fair, this was someone else's spell she was recalling, not her own, so it would take her a little bit longer to recall the exact wording.
The other scimitars forced her to act prematurely, however, but the boost she'd given herself affected her reaction time as well. Their cloven trajectory seemed to be trying to foil her attempts at blocking, so she hopped over the lower one and, while in the air, blocked the other one in much the same manner as its brother. The force of impact presented a bigger problem now that she didn't have the ground to provide friction, but she managed to maintain her balance when she hit the ground again.
Fortunately, there seemed to be only one blade left, and the demon's rush left her in much closer range. The light in her eyes made it seem as though he were charging through the void of space. Such contrast was a little more than disconcerting, she wouldn't be able to tell a pothole from solid ground, so she was afraid to use her speed boost to its full advantage when dodging.
Some vestige of her old self that enjoyed this sort of activity wordlessly pointed out that his hand that held the flaming brand was, for now, harmlessly to his side, as though he were preparing for a slash. A well directed hit might solve both the problem of the impending cut and break his concentration on the other scimitar that, she assumed, though she dare not look, was still behind her.
Thus, she made swift steps forward into the charge and, with a boldness absent since her past life, swung her hand in a strong arc, aiming to smack the swordsman's face in a manner that would divert his charge to her left.

She moved far faster than he had expected. One second he was charging head forward with the last remaining blade of fyre in his hand, ready to strike, the next she was just before him with a hard smack to the face. The hit might have looked like a simple slap, something that would have been a little sting coming from such a small, timid woman, but this shit hurts!! Shou's head whipped to the side from the impact, his feet being swept off the ground as he lost the path of his charge. Of course, the oni managed to keep his wits about to regain his composure, a disc of flame erupting beneath to catch him from impacting with the ground. He looked to the angel almost incredulously, a hand reaching up to his cheek and wincing lightly at the pain. This must have been a result of her spell that she had issued at the beginning of the fight, a light growl escaping him. "You're pretty strong as it is.. hell, you sure you need help?" Shou snickered lightly, before thrusting the blade of fyre up into the air, allowing the scimitar to hang in the sky above him. "Maybe I should fight more seriously then..?" The oni questioned, as flames began to encircle around his form.

The woman blinked, taking a look at the man who'd quite nearly gone down to the ground, then back at her own hand, curling and uncurling her fingers slowly. The force of impact had been pretty hard, her hand stung a little bit as she flexed it.
Then, it seemed, he still wanted to use that last blade... saying something to indicate the spar might increase in difficulty. It seemed like an honest question, but oh no. The way he combusted made her afraid to an extent. Perhaps a simple misunderstanding, but she believed he must certainly be holding back. Surely all of that drama, the flying through the air at the command of her palm, was meant to lure her into a false sense of security.
For that reason, she prepared for the worst. Murmuring low under her breath, almost a whispered scripture, she mentally prepared herself. "Ready when you are, Takashou-sama..." she said, as though unsure of herself. She doubted he'd give her enough time to thank him for the compliment on her apparent ability to defend herself.

"Heh.." The flames continued to grow around him, before roaring into full force as it consumed his entire being. The oni simply closed his eyes, allowing himself to fall into the chaotic being that he truly was. The primal urges of the beast rushed forward in full force, as the fire blasted away from his body and wisped into nothingness in the air around him. The newly emerged being took a step forward, sighing contentedly as his gaze fixated on the angel before him with burnt orange eyes. His hair might have been a little unkempt in the absence of a braid before, but now it spiked outwards in a great mane around his head. "Ara ara.. I hope I don't scare you." Shou stated, though he snickered light heartedly with the comment. Two giant sabre fangs had transformed from his canines, coming down to be level with his lower jaw. "This way I can fight my strongest."

Naturally, with the closeness they seemed to have shared, Atilla might have forgotten that her friend's spiritual form was a large feline, yet another one of her primal fears. Her countenance went from curious at the sudden consumption of the man by fire to dread at the strangely alluring, yet definitely possessing some traits of her natural foe. "C-...c-c... c... C...." she squeaked, through impotence of throat, pointing a finger as she stumbled backwards, her eyes wide with horror. "K..."

The oni glanced down towards his clothings, pleased to see that they remained intact for the transformation. It would have been something of a bother if the new threads he had acquired couldn't endure such a simple thing as that. His newly colored eyes then shot back towards the angel, grinning at the effect he imposed on this woman. To see such fear thrilled him, pushing him to new excitements, even at the cost of frightening someone as close to him as she was. "Infernal flames!" Shou then shouted, before huffing in a great deal of air. He chuckled briefly with his cheeks inflated, a red mist huffing out from between his lips before he finished his chant. "Go forth and destroy!" He spat forth a line of red molten fire that shot towards the ground, then continued along the dirt and grass, shooting towards the woman. Upon reaching her position, it would suddenly encircle her in a wide radius, fires blasting upwards from the circle that would form around her before crashing down onto the area. As if that hadn't been enough, the blade of fyre that hovered in the sky suddenly shot down, having moved into position directly above the other spirit. It now descended to strike from overhead.

The kami took several quick steps backwards, seeing the spit trail like some live thing up to her, finally coming to form a big circle, the area of which was rapidly heating up as she stood at the edge of it. Fire rose around her, the air coming to be an unbearable temperature. The arm crossing didn't seem like it would be enough, and desperate to escape the situation, she managed to hop through the flame wall before the bulk of the attack came down, protecting her face with her arms as before and landing in a roll. Her robes were smoldering, but her hair and skin had come out ok, though not quite as ok as they would've been if she'd dodged the attack altogether. She didn't seem aware that she'd dodged the last scimitar by accident, as she lay there, coughing smoke
Without thinking about it, she began shouting to the sky, as though lead by some instinct. "Open the floodgates of heaven!" The cry echoed about the clearing as thunderclouds quickly materialized. "Let it rain!"
The clouds would suddenly begin dumping out copious amounts of water, as though there were some bucket in the sky. The wind would go from very gentle to hurricane force, sweeping up a moderate amount of debris.

The wind suddenly picked up and whipped at the mane of hair around him, his burnt orange eyes going to the sky to see the oncoming rush of waves that seemed to dump out from the clouds above. Well, this obviously wasn't some simple rain storm. "Well, you certainly got a lot stronger from what I remember." If she had possessed these sort of techniques, she might not have needed his help against those disgusting hyena oni. "Temperatures arise.." Shou began, lifting an arm that outstretched towards the sky and the oncoming rush of water that dropped from it. He outstretched only his index and middle finger, while waiting for the perfect opportunity. What he intended to use was a close range technique, so to waste it prematurely would have costed him that valuable opportunity to test his abilities against these waters. The moment came, his eyes suddenly narrowing as he shouted outwards, "Roast this before me!" A blast of heat shot from his body as the tidal waves came just before him. It parted before him and the wide emission of the ability, waters coming to crash into the ground some distance to each of his sides, though his area remained dry and safe. The heat cut through the remainder of the crushing waters that dumped towards him, keeping himself out of harm's way.

PostSubject: Re: The Metal   Mon Nov 02, 2009 9:58 pm

The waters continued to pour down for the space of several minutes, the deluge continuing though the wind whipped in a mad whirlwind skirting the edge of the trees and the cardboard boxes, containing the chaos to some degree, and suddenly subsided. All the water that crashed into the bubble of heat rapidly converted to steam, hissing and floating, the related waters away from that center giving off the thick mist at a slower rate. In short order, the entire clearing lay hidden beneath a thick cloud of moisture, the ground warm and muddy as the woman lay there. The fog would likely be sufficient to hide her for the moment.
Not daring to groan, the woman realized she'd run mostly out of power, or at least couldn't maintain her human form. It was just as well, her clothes were burned past her personal modesty threshold, hanging black and charred from her shoulders like so many rags.
Sitting up, she looked around at the surrounding, almost oppressively warm darkness. Somehow she felt too afraid to down-shift to her mouse form, having recalled Shou's feline aspects, but it hurt her physically to maintain this human visage. Arching her back suddenly and wincing to hold back a scream, she realized an unpleasant straining sensation that seemed to hit every point in her fatigued body at once.
Pain is a powerful motivator; she soon found the strength to call out a compromising form. Her robes began to melt and whiten, eventually forming long, snowy fur. Her hands and feet shrunk and narrowed, turning pink, the nails transforming into sharp little claws. A long, bare tail extended from her rear, more than doubling the length of her spine in proportion as she shrank, her nose jutting out from her face until it formed a snout with several curved whiskers framing it like a halo. This new shape would hold the strength of her human transformation, but allow her to be as she naturally was, and thus was much easier to maintain than her former human form. Though this new shape was bigger than her default rat form, she was only a little larger than some of the heavier breeds of rabbit. Her rosary with the seashell, now with an elaborate, faintly phosphorescent set of symbols on it matching those on her forehead, still hung about her neck, giving a whispered rattle as the transformation completed. Her feet, save the tips of her toes, were wrapped in bandages, as was the base of her tail, and four silver earrings hung from her ears. Her eyes popped out slightly, golden and large, and some beads tied up and together with a blue scarf hung loosely about her shoulders and waist. This form was more light and pure in color than her smaller rat form, except for the blue and golden symbolic pattern that weaved from her forehead to the base of her tail and down her shoulders like a cross.
She felt comfortable in this form. It lacked the complete ability to hide her smaller form had, but she could appreciate the fact that she got to keep her basic strength. Finding the oni quickly in this sauna might prove a problem, she thought, but if he lit himself up again she might be able to find him.
Thus, she sat still as a sculpture, her black-tipped, saucer like ears flickering forward quickly. It was only now that she realized that she had two pairs of ears, a smaller, longer, darker set a little further down the side of her head with a twin set of rings on them. Hopefully the steam would hold out, she would want to find him before he found her after all.

The oni glanced around at the change of enviroments, lifting a shoe from the ground as it dripped with wet mud. "How nice." He stated sarcastically, before squinting his eyes to see if he could make anything out of the mist of steam that followed while lowering his arm back down to his side. The tsunami had certainly opened his eyes to what it was this woman was capable of, and he chuckled as he saw the potential she had of being a fighter. Of course, her goodly nature was an obstacle if that were ever one of his desires. There was nothing wrong with preserving such powers for those moments where a call to self-defense came, though. "Hmph.. hiding, eh?" Shou chuckled lightly, before extending his arm outward to his side, the orbs of his eyes slowly scanning over from the left and sweeping to the right. The oni certainly wasn't one to hide when there was a battle to be attending to. "Infernal flames. Gather and strike!" The oni shouted, before the fires formed into a small red orb just by his palm, flaring out into full force as it was launched into the area where he had last recalled Atilla standing.

The mouse kami noticed a glow and a shout, both occurring in the general direction she was looking. She hadn't moved an inch, but this fog would make it hard to gain one's bearings should she run from the ball. Now she knew his position, but with the impending attack, she would have to move, definitely.
A sort of cunning buried beneath the surface manifest itself once again. Instead of attempting a dodge, she turned her shoulder towards the attack so a stronger part of her body could take the brunt of the force. It hurt much less than the scimitars, the warming sensation was almost pleasant. However, she shrieked as though she were in pain and, knowing that the fireball might make a temporary path in the fog, tried to look injured, but the fog would only remain apart for a fraction of a second, and after that squeal, her feet left the ground and she hopped up to her right and hung, suspended in the air, expectant.

As the mist gave way to the path of the flame, she would temporarily come within his vision. The sound of the shriek followed after the apparent impact of the technique, though something clearly bothered him. Was this Atilla? Before he could make out too many features of the creature that now took her place in the mist, his vision was shrouded again as it closed up the tunnel the fyreball had created. "Ohoho.. now what was that?" Shou questioned to himself as he grinned. The Atilla from earlier could shrug away a blade of fyre, yet this one had shrieked out in pain to his weakest technique. Was this a transformation she had undergone that made her weaker? Or was it a different being entirely? Both thoughts seemed ridiculous.. what he saw was something that resembled a mouse, though larger than the actual size of the rodent. It was certainly Atilla, in some new form, and knowing for the trick that it was, Shou refused to fall into a trap.
It was time to take things further. "Infernal flames!" Shou cried out, his eyes narrowing in the area that the creature had appeared in. "Strike from the skies!" The oni roared, each of his hands erupting into flames as he thrusted his arms upwards, sending blasts of fire up to the heavens. The theory of it wasn't beyond him, and his flames were certainly under his manipulation forever and always. Besides, if she could bring water down on him, then he would could bring the very flames of hell descending from the clouds above.
The blasts he set off disappeared amongst the clouds, before the sky was suddenly tainted with red streaks running through it. The grin on his face would widen as his gaze remained on the spot he had seen Atilla. It began to rain on that spot. Fire. Lines of flames that descended from the sky as if they were water, though they cut through the mist easily and cleared the area where the mouse was of that hindrance of visibility. As the 'drops' of flame came into contact with the ground, it sizzled and burned at the wet mud and grass that had come to be.

The mouse heard rather ominous chanting. That was just as well, last time he charged he'd failed, as he'd been stricken to the ground. What she hadn't counted on was his decision to rain fire down from the sky. It seemed there was nowhere those flames of his couldn't manifest. Wearily, her mind weighed the value of continuing the fight. Since the fire was apparently coming from above, she could contest it with her own newfound powers, but to do so might be painful. Her muscles were sore, but she'd learned much in this span of time.
Only by rolling on her back, crossing her little arms in front of her, was she able to begin to block the attack, but the focus of the drops wasn't on her, since she'd taken the time to hop to the left a little bit.
Nonetheless, the little warm drops drained all of her newfound resolve to fight for the moment. If she had a moment to rest, perhaps she could go again, but for now, all she could do was cry, "I give up, Takashou-sama. You win," after the noise of the firestorm faded. The light breeze and the fire together drove away the rest of the fog, and the night was clear again.
With her arms slightly blackened, the large rat rolled back over on her belly and curled up, her sides moving up and down with a steady rhythm as though she were asleep, but her eyes were open wide.

The oni came to see the rat on her back, blocking the oncoming droplets of fire that rained from the sky. They would pass only a moment later, ceasing to be though they had done rather well in clearing the area up with the heat eating away at the mist that had clouded over. A brow rose at her statement of giving up. "This wasn't a contest to see who could win. Besides.." Shou snickered, beginning to walk forward towards the kami. "You did really well. Shit, maybe too well." He stated while reaching upwards to rub the side of his neck. The hit she had managed to land had hurt like hell, and a rather uncomfortable cramp had come from that forceful twist of his head. As he came closer to the resting rat, he came to pause and observe her from the nearer distance. "Interesting look."

Giving an expression that seemed almost analogous to a tired grin, though it disturbed her slightly to find that in the course of this spar she'd become a little bit competitive. No, she wasn't power hungry as far as she could tell, but it was definitely fun to pit her wits against a combatant in play at what would ordinarily be a lethal dance. Another similarly violent dream, similar to the flashback she had earlier, brought to mind the more entertaining battles of her past life, the weasel that almost made the rat lose and eye.
Snapping back to reality, her old shy manner appeared. As she looked at the oni, blinking with her large, still golden eyes, it would be apparent that there was a broken red mark down her left eye, like a tattoo of a claw mark. "I did... well?"
The rat was overcome with a desire to climb up the other's arm and snuggle near his neck.

"You made me go all out, didn't you? It was a fun fight, though. We should try that again sometime." Shou stated, snickering lightly. Perhaps the angel could improve on her touch with water techniques since it seemed like she was still only a novice when it came to that nature of elemental magic. The oni was certain that in time progress would be a given. "So.. what is this? Do you feel stronger in that form?" Shou questioned, curious to the change. It certainly didn't boast the size that his own beast transformation did, but it was a lot larger than what her base form entailed.

"I do," the kami answered simply, rising to her feet and trotting over to the other, rubbing her back up against his shin as a cat might, her tail wrapping loosely around his leg as she came back to his side and looked up at him. "I am not sure how I called out this transformation, but it is what they call the final form in heaven. I could never figure out how to do it, but you have taught me. Thank you..." She felt less shy and more comfortable with herself than usual, perhaps because knowing that his fires couldn't immediately kill her as she'd previously presupposed. "I... enjoyed the fighting. Perhaps I could... come with you next time you decide to fight some demons?"
The tone of the question was light and impenetrable, as though she were purposely hiding her intentions behind it by not fluctuating her voice at all, though the previous statements had been lively and animated, even excited.

When she came and rubbed against him, he couldn't help but feel a little awkward with a giant rodent displaying that sort of affection. Then again, he supposed it had become his nature to find human forms more attractive, losing interest in animals as he had come to adopt the humanoid form regularly. Not to mention that this was a rat of all things. He decided to ignore that and try not to appear too uncomfortable. "Final form, huh?" Shou had to be impressed at that if Atilla had managed it, as that would have placed her in the stronger brackets of angels. "Oh? You wanna hunt demons with me, eh?" The oni grinned and chuckled lightly. It didn't seem in her nature to pursuit a fight, but he wasn't disappointed. On the contrary, actually. "That sounds fun, then. We oughta."

The scaly tail departed the leg in time for the kami to decide she needed to pedal home. She'd rested for a little bit and could summon the small bit of stamina it required to "downgrade" to her human form. Plus, it would be nice to hold hands until her relatively bold mood wore off, as she knew it would.
The white rodent began to shine, the form eventually dissolving into thousands of lights and growing, rearranging themselves into a female form. She still had her purple hood with the white, fuzzy trim, but instead of it being connected to a robe, it led down into an open version, a cloak, beneath which she wore a loose shirt with a cross on it made up of a bunch of smaller symbols, and she wore a very baggy pair of blue pants, the legs of which partially covered her sandaled feet. Her rosary was actually visible now.
Bowing her head slightly, she seemed to mumble a brief prayer before looking back up at the oni. "We should start tomorrow perhaps. Are you in need of any restoration?"

She shifted back to her human form. Shou followed in suit, as the wild mane that was his hair came to fall around him, reverted to its length down his back. The giant sabre fangs had come to shrink back into his mouth, and his eyes darkened back to their crimson. When she asked of him needing restoration, Shou came to be very aware of the fatigue and damages that he had endured during their fight. Pride silenced his tongue of requests, though, and instead he stepped forward towards her and planted a kiss on her lips. Now, more than ever, she was undeniably attractive. Her attire had changed, but beside that he had come to see the hidden warrior that she could be. The oni closed his eyes, hands coming to grip the woman's shoulders softly as he drew her in closer, deepening his embrace. It'd been some time since he had last enjoyed the pleasures a female could offer, and while thoughts of Atilla as a sexual relief floated, she was coming to mean more than that. Something that made him feel almost human.
Pulling from the kiss, the oni looked to the woman with a smirk on his face. "I didn't say so earlier, but I missed you."

He looked so much nicer with his hair down, she reflected briefly, looking with a faint wistfulness as his more feline attributes faded, leaving the visage she'd first liked.
The kiss, as such things usually did, took her by surprise, but as previously, she enjoyed it, the closeness of his body and the emotional intimacy she felt sending her into a state of happiness she'd hardly experienced since leaving heaven, though their lips parted too soon. She stood there, her arms wrapped very loosely around his waist in a faint reciprocal embrace. Somehow the fact that he was, by nature of his species and alignment, her natural enemy and the very sort of thing she'd come to this plane to combat seemed less and less real every time she saw him, every time they touched. The kami was coming to trust this oni more and more.
Looking up at him, a slight tint of red coloring her cheeks, she looked into those eyes she was so fond of and spoke slowly, as though she were afraid any given word might break the moment. "I... think about you when you are gone... as well. It was nice to... see you again."

Shou could have expected that sort of response. After all, it was obvious to any who had eyes and ears that this angel was smitten by him. And yet her words still held some value to him. The oni questioned the feelings that this woman seemed to light within him, a low-burning flame of emotion that warmed him. Yet it seemed that flame would always be dwarfed by the fires of chaos that roared within him, desires that he could not deny and prevented him from fueling this emotion that he felt here and now. The oni released the woman of his light grip, though his sights remained on her. "Yeah. Heh." He almost seemed as if he would continue speaking, though his mouth closed and his lips simply quirked to the side in a half-hearted smirk. Turning his head away from her, he glanced towards Sai City, home of the humans. "How far do you plan on following me, Atilla?" Shou asked, as a thought occured to him. It was one that came many times, seeing his clash with mortals inevitable so long as he continued to move about their place. It wasn't often that he considered this subject, though, as it usually served to destroy his usual confident and carefree attitude. "You know we're on different sides, right..? What's the line you won't cross? Where you'll turn against me?" The oni continued to ask, his eyes unable to look to the angel whom he believed would eventually come to hate him. She simply didn't understand his true nature, but when she caught sight of it he didn't expect her to understand. Himself, he had no reason to hurt the woman. For the good of humans, though, it wasn't unlikely to think she would use these newfound strengths of hers to stop him.

She took a half step forward, trying to draw his gaze back into her own. "Whose side are you on, Takashou-sama?" she asked tensely, fearfully. It would tear her apart to have to defend some humans from him and face the humiliation in heaven of having been so wrong, but she'd promised she would kill him herself should he turn bad.
Yet, it didn't seem like a promise she would be able to go through with. Simply a look from those eyes would likely stop her in her tracks, but breaking a promise would be a sin, and how could she preach Bleaus while harboring sin in her heart? She looked at him pleadingly, hoping he didn't mean to hurt any of the people she'd sworn to help protect.

The crimson orbs returned to her when she had moved forward, and the question alone put up a surprisingly good argument. Whose side was he on? Certainly not the demons, as countless had fallen to his flames by this point. Nor the humans, as nothing would please him more than Sai City engulfed in the fires that he had come to master since his time on Earth. With that realization that he didn't belong to any 'side', he sadly chuckled at the realization of what he was. "I'm evil.." The oni mumbled, never having described himself with that word before. As it left his lips, he felt a subconscious self-judgement, a sentence that trapped him as a being of chaos from here to the remainder of his days. The only thing that had served to keep him at bay from unleashing himself out into the world full force was Atilla. His feelings for her had what it took to remind him what it was like to be human. And yet, he knew that a relationship with her wouldn't have been the right thing for either of them. Especially not for her. "I admire your innocence. I always have. But evil grows.. if I ruined you, then what? You would lose the best thing about you." Shou ran a hand through his hair, his fingers moving smoothly through the locks of red strands. "What a fucking downer.."

The rift increased, she stood there helplessly as he admitted, not to neutrality as she'd hoped he might be, but to the word that summed up everything she hated, every loathsome sin she couldn't yet conceive, the force of death that produced the first, grinning corpses from Epion and Kayla who were killed by their great affection for one another. Good and evil had to remain separate, that was the proclamation, and one of the doctrines that they'd drilled into her back in the heavenly realms, back when they were purging the evil from her spirit.
Back then, she'd joined her peers in thinking that Epion was corrupt, Kayla a wicked seductress, but now she couldn't see her former reasoning, a scary prospect, as this entire situation had evolved into a slippery slope. One hand wandered up to her neck to pull off the beads and she began counting them with her fingers, a nervous habit she maintained outside of prayer when undergoing some great stress. "But you would not ruin me... you had a chance and you did not..." she continued, desperately trying to prevent the end she felt was coming. "...and I can defend myself... a little... correct?"

"Heh. You can defend yourself more than just a little." Shou stated, reopening his eyes as he looked to the woman and gave one of his rare smiles. The oni reached out and lightly squeezed her shoulder, providing some warmth to the touch. "Stay with me, then. At least until I've crossed that line." He took a step forward towards her, bringing him close. "For now.. I like this." Shou stated before closing the distance between the two of their lips as he leant in to give her another kiss. The contact allowed him to forget that this woman would eventually come to be his enemy when her goodly morals forced her to make a decision. It was something of a pity, too, for he wouldn't mind a deeper relationship between the two of them. However, that notion would always pale in comparison to the destruction and death that he truly yearned for. Shutting his eyes, he could let those thoughts drift away as he enjoyed this kiss.

The angel smiled under the warm touch of the other, her worries fading faster than they'd materialized. Somehow she wanted to believe, even if it would hurt her later, that some good could come of this situation. This time when he kissed her, she felt as though the gulf had been closed, and she never wanted it to reopen. Her arms would come around him, embracing him warmly in appreciation that they could be together now at least.

The oni held onto the kiss for a moment longer before removing his lips from her own, a sigh of content passing through them afterwards. He then snickered as his eyes came open to look at the woman before him. It was strange for him to find such a fascination in an angel, especially one that didn't put out. He figured he found other things about her that intrigued him, kept him interested. Not to mention she remained a valuable ally in the world where he chose no side but only continued to push forward fighting, growing stronger, all for his vision. The oni took a step back to allow Atilla her space, before speaking. "Did ya wanna head back to the city? Or would you wanna spend some more time out here?" He found himself not caring where he was, more interested in just keeping the company of this kamikonjou.

The kami released the other when he released her, tilting her head to the side slightly and raising her long sleeves towards her chin. She'd been terribly forward tonight, but it didn't seem as though any offense had been taken at her behavior.
She looked over her shoulder towards the city. Her trailer was there... by itself... where she could spend a summer night alone...
Somehow it seemed more appealing to be out here in the woods with company. "I think... I would like to remain here a little while longer... is that ok?"
She wondered if he still only lived out here in the woods instead of in a house or apartment or some similar arrangement.

"That's fine." Shou would comment back, before leaning back onto his heels. He would then allow himself to fall back against the soft grass of the fields, his gaze coming skywards as he layed back on the ground. He sighed lightly, rather exhausted from the battle as he had refused any healing the angel had offered. This way was better to maintain his image of strength, but he would have to recover normally now. Fortunately the sky had cleared up of the clouds that the kami's technique had seemed to conjure, and it allowed him better view of the stars and the curved nail moon.
