| | Hopping lightly through the woods, a small mouse kami, a rosary of beads and seashells around her neck, her feet and belly protected by flowing blue scarves, a silver earring glinting faintly on her ear, rethought her purpose for coming into these woods. Namely, it was to revisit an old, broken down place to possess the arrows and bolts of Blake, should they still be there. In her quest for self defense, she thought it a good idea to get such a weapon or, if she couldn't learn to use them, pawn them off to make money for the poor. She was sure to travel in the heat of noon, however, rationalizing that she wouldn't get caught out late like last time. Besides, most of the predatory spirits she feared the most, griffins and wildcats, were asleep at this time of day. Her sight in this form was best in the evening, but she would surely be far from these ominous, overbearing trees by then. Her whiskers twitched as she stopped, looking up, scanning the air with her ears and blinking as she leaned up on her two back legs, her tail providing balance as she stood alert for any suspicious sounds.

| | The little mouse freezes, not a muscle moving as she hears the noise of thunders and... screams. Human screams. Demons tended to have this really unsettling sound they brought forth from their lungs when they died. Humans... well, as she'd read in "The Leaf and The Cloud": "The voice of the child howling out of the tall, bearded, muscular man is a misery, and a terror". That's all she detected in the sound and immediately she decided that perhaps some devil had attacked some lost humans. Thinking little for her own health or safety, the small priestess ran through the adjacent bushes, eventually breaking into a clearing where four dead men lay. A demon stood there, indeed, a rather scary looking one. She had a smell the little creature instinctively distrusted, but all in her mind at the moment was attempting to save these few lives from a premature death. Hopping over to the one with the missing head, she lay her tiny paw on his chest, hoping perhaps the larger spirit wouldn't see her, even as she began to chant and her tiny hand began to glow. "Spiritus est qui vivificat caro non prodest quicquam verba quae ego locutus sum vobis spiritus et vita sunt..." she chanted at a bravely audible volume, one hand counting off rosary beads as she shut her eyes and concentrated healing power into the man's corpse.
*It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life. [revive] |

| The man's head managed to reform, and he lay there as though dead before the little mouse's concentration was broken by a falling sword, then a finger. "EEK!" she shrieked, jumping a good six inches in the air and whirling, landing on all fours and hyperventilating as rodents were prone to when frightened a great deal. The other woman frightened her a great deal, and it was maybe fifteen seconds after the threat of being consumed that she could gather the courage to stand up again and talk. Clasping her rosary in one hand, she set one foot back, her tail snapping about, and held the fist with the beads in it towards the woman, a rather dramatic and badass pose for a small mouse who specialized in healing magix. "Behind me, Devil, I come in the name of Bleaus!" Her voice was a steady monotone despite her perceptible trembling. Almost as soon as she said those words, however, she realized that this woman looked a little familiar. "Oh, my apologies.... Are you a devil?" the mouse spoke haltingly, seeming confused. "You seem like someone I might have seen during my time in Kotaku-Shi..." The heavenly city of course. Somehow she felt certain this one was an oni, a devil, but she didn't know any devils during her stay in the heavens.

Hild's hand comes up to cover her mouth as she starts to giggle at the little mouse. It takes her a moment to compose herself. "That was just too cute...You may have seen me there, though I haven't been to Kotaku-Shi in a very long time but to answer your question, am I a devil...hmm" She puts she finger on her lip as she pauses to think about it. "Well I guess a lot of people think I am a devil but I prefer to think of myself as being miss-understood." She nods to herself as she liked how that sounded better than being called a devil, "Yep, I'm just miss-understood that is all. What about yourself little kamikonjou, shouldn't you be enjoying yourself in Kotaku-Shi or did they banish you for having too much fun?"

| | She shook her head, still thinking this woman was familiar, but not knowing if she was from her life in heaven or her life in hell. "No, I am here on a mission trip. I wish to let the people know of the existence of spirits, the goodness of Bleaus, and that a peaceful life lay in virtue and keeping oneself pure from this realm of contradictions. I myself am a reformed spirit. I do not remember any of it, but at one point I was some great evil." She scratched her head with her foot in a motion so fast it was a mere blur before she sat down on her little mouse behind and stared up, blinking her large eyes at the much bigger woman. "Were you banished for a misunderstanding, Oni-shi*?" Since she had mentioned being to Koutaku-shi, Atilla could only assume that this one had once been a kami like herself.
*Shi (honorific) is used in formal writing, and sometimes in very formal speech, for referring to a person who is unfamiliar to the speaker, typically a person known through publications whom the speaker has never actually met. For example, the shi title is common in the speech of newsreaders. It is preferred in legal documents, academic journals, and certain other formal written styles. Once a person's name has been used with shi, the person can be referred to with shi alone, without the name, as long as there is only one person being referred to. |
