Feidnod - Jyn
An Earth Golem capable of a Destructive Earthquake spell or Earth Guard that is said to be able to block any attack.
Location: Sandy dunes far Southeast of Gunshyne Bastion
STATUS: OPEN

The scene opens up in the lower commons. The veil of the night blankets the sky hovering high over the city. The sound of a shot rings off in the night and time draws near for an onikonjou demon in human form. In a dark alleyway, my figure could be seen walking into it. Most of my features are covered in the darkness of the surroundings with only a small trace of dim light shining into the alleyway where a demon curls up at the end with no where else to go. On a nightly patrol, I had my team to back me up and keep the demon at bay, so I didn’t have to worry about pulling out a gun myself, but since I had common sense, my fully loaded pistol was in my right hand as I approach the demon. He had given a good chase, but like most of them, our wolf pack pattern of attack cornered him into his current position low on health and energy. Stopping several feet from the demon, I pause and repeat my question. It was the same lately as I had become a bit of a broken record. “What do you know about the organization of higher order demons?…” I ask. The shivering demon, in the form of an urban Caucasian male, slowly pulls himself from the ground so that his back rests on the wall of the alley’s dead end. “Don’t kill me man…” he begins. Another shot is fired as blood explodes from his left shoulder and smoke rises from my raised pistol and I repeat the question. The demon scream out in pain, his voice and cries of pain dead to my ears, as I did not look onto him as I would a human. Though his shivering and sniffling, his broken voice makes out, “okay! I heard about something… it’s south of the city. Southeast near the dunes way past the Bastion. There’s supposed to be something big there. Something strong. You might find something there.” Taking these words, I nod and ask, “is that all?” The male nods and grips his arm tightly and answers, ‘yea man… that’s all I know. I’m telling the truth, you got to believe me…” I lower my gun giving a nod of approval as I state to the demon, “thank you for your cooperation.” Turning I place my gun back into my holster and walk away. Lifting a finger into the air and making a circular motion, I give the signal to my team to finish the demon off.

PostSubject: Re: South Sandy Dunes, The Search for Feidnod [Ingel]   South Sandy Dunes, The Search for Feidnod [Ingel] EmptySat Dec 05, 2009 5:55 pm

The night had started like any other, myself, along with Jyn and the rest of the team in search of demons so we could interrogate them for information. When we found one we followed our normal pattern of attack until the demon was either on its last legs or willing to give up the information we sought. When the demon we were hunting after was on his last legs Jyn asked the question we have been seeking information about. I watched on as he was met with an answer from the demon, however it isn't the answer we are looking for. Since it isn't the answer we are after Jyn must have decided to shoot the demon again and I had no problem with that decision, I simply waited for Jyn to finish with the demon so he could be taken care of and we could be on our way. With the next shot the demon decided to speak up and when he began to speak I turned my gaze to him and listened to what he had to say. As the conversation draws to an end I look to Jyn, waiting to see what he wanted to do with the demon, though I already knew the answer to it. I watch Jyn as he begins to walk away and when he gives the signal to finish the demon off, I give a faint nod before I bring up my upholstered pistol and take aim at the demon and fire off two quick shots into the demon's chest to finish him off. After finishing the demon off, I slip the pistol back into its holster as I turn my attention to Jyn, " Do you think he is telling the truth? "

South Sandy Dunes, The Search for Feidnod [Ingel]

Walking back towards the group in the shadows of the alleyway, I am able to hear the sounds of the shots that put away the demon amidst his screams and cries for mercy. Its body reacts violently to the bullets hitting it before it slumps down and slides, leaving a trail of blood on the wall behind him before his body breaks into spirit particles and fades away into the night air. Running was always a futile effort for these weaker ones since my ability to track spirits by their energy signatures had come on par with our latest technology and on top of that, the more excite they become, the easier it was for me to sense them. Making it back to the group, I look to Ingel as he asks the question and comment, “I’m not sure. We’d better check it out to be sure. It’s outside our jurisdiction, but maybe something of value is there. Call the main van and have them pull around to the nearest cross street. We’ll check it out tonight. Get the men ready and I’ll report in to HQ.” Since Ingel had become a sergeant, or was becoming one, I allowed him to have leadership over the group. I was more like a guest with my recent upgrade to Captain. Technically I should be pushing a pen behind a desk, but things like that never really interested me when there was still work to be done on the Patrols.

After asking the question, I keep my gaze fixed on Jyn as I wait for his answer to it. And when he begins to answer it I agreed with what he was saying, it was better to be safe then sorry. If there is something out there then we should know about it, and if it is something strong that can pose a threat to the people of the city then it should be dealt with accordingly. As Jyn requested the van be brought around I nodded in acknowledgment. As Jyn finished speaking I gave one last nod before speaking, " Alright. " I said to Jyn before I continued speaking, " This is Ingel. The target has been neutralized. At this point the van will pull around for pick up and once everyone is loaded we will be moving out, we have some more business to tend to and I expect everyone to remain vigil. " As I finished speaking to everyone over the com system I turned my attention back to Jyn, " Shall we be on our way then? Off to find out what this something is. "

South Sandy Dunes, The Search for Feidnod [Ingel]

As Ingel speaks to the group, I turn to the side and lift up my cell as I call into operations and advise that we would be moving from our current patrol to check on a possible lead. I advise for a smaller unit to cover the area in our absence and that we should expect a window of two hours. If we needed more time, I advised that I would request it at that time. When the message is relayed into the system, I close my phone and lower it back into my pocket as Ingel speaks coming around. His words hit the nail on the head; we had no clue what we were heading into, but something was better than nothing when searching for clues on the pillars. With a nod, I agree, “yes, let’s head out.” With that, I move with the team heading to the mouth of the alley where the Division van was pulling up. The door slides open for the team to mount up. I open the passenger front door and step up and into the seat. I close the door behind me as I give our technical guru and driver the directions on where we would be heading. He nods with a “right boss” and waits for the others to get inside. After we were all set, the van pulls off and we make for our new destination.

The van moves through the city heading southeast in route to our destination. I remain quite for the most part, simply looking ahead at the road before us. In the back, I could head the men chatting casually and talking to pass the time. For that moment, I move into my thoughts about various things in my life and our current direction in our work.

When Jyn begins to move for the mouth of the alley with the rest of the team I follow after them. As we come to the van, I pause for a moment and glance over at Jyn before looking back to the open door and climb into the van before moving off to the side and take up a seat close to the front of the van in case Jyn had to communicate with me. Once I was seated I glanced around the van at the rest of the team before I began to go over what had just happened and what we were about to go do. Though I wasn't sure what in the world we were going to run into, hell we might not even run into anything on this wild goose chase, I wanted to be ready for anything that may come up. With that in mind, my thoughts shifted as I began to go over a mental check list of the gear I had and how much of my ammunition I had used so far tonight.

South Sandy Dunes, The Search for Feidnod [Ingel]

Thinking over things, I recall that I have never been very far south of the city. Civilians generally didn’t have the access to go too far outside of the city limits since the wilderness was deemed dangerous. The corporations also had secret facilities and such set up in the lands not zoned within Saicity that were to stay secret. The terrain shifts from urban to rural as we exit the city limits, making our way due south. After traveling for some time, the lights of the city fade away and soon the only lights are that of the Division 12 van shining mid beams in front of us. The tech initiates the local SpiriNet capabilities of the van as a precautionary measure. Soon we reach an area where the grassland breaks out into an expansive desert. The van comes to a halt, not able to enter into the sandy portions before us. The driver looks to me and comments, “we’re here, sir.” With a nod, I open my door and step out, leave the order to dismount to Ingel since he was the current team leader in charge. When he got out of the van, I would ask him what he thought the best method of searching would be to see if he wanted us to search as a team or in groups. I would go with whatever he said for the time being.

During the trip, I continued going over things in my mind and went as far to check my weapons to make sure they were fully loaded and checked how much ammunition I actually still had remaining to make sure the numbers matched up with the ones in my head. I tried not to pay attention to the scenery outside the van though I knew we were going away from the city into a place no civilian had been before. When the van finally came to a stop I turned my gaze towards the front of the van and waited to hear if we had arrived or just if this was a quick stop. When I found out we had arrived I glanced back at the rest of the team before lifting from my seat and moving over to the side door. Coming to the door, I gripped the handle and gave it a pull before pushing the door open and stepping out of the van, glancing around some. " Alright, everyone out of the van and check your gear. " I said, giving the order for everyone to get out, before I turned my attention to Jyn as he began speaking to me. As he posed his question I turned my attention to the desert area before us and took a moment to think on his question before speaking up, " Well, it would be wise to not stray to far apart, if we do split up into teams. And we need to maintain radio communication with each other and the van, we don't want to end up getting lost out here. Splitting up into teams would make the searching a lot easier and increase our chances of finding something out here. Also, we should use the gear with the spirit vision. "

With a nod, I accept Ingel’s input and give my feedback stating, “sounds good. I’ll shadow with you. We’ll run things under your command and I’ll let you know if I feel anything.” Since I was able to naturally sense spiritual energies, I would go without the spirit vision. My hand rises up to the opening between my open coat, my finger and thumb rub the glowing issued pendant I wore around my neck. Since being almost blasted into oblivion twice, I learned to wear body armor as well as the LASN Pendant. I wasn’t so cocky as to go out without protection anymore. I await Ingel’s orders to the men and or feedback as I look over the dark dusty wasteland before us. I wondered if there were different types of demons here rather than in the forests. With the words of that demon from the city, we might have walked into a trap. I begin to think that perhaps it would have been better to come here during the daytime.

When Jyn began to respond I listened to what input he had about my idea. I was glad to hear that Jyn would be going with me, that is the way I would want it, it seemed we worked well as a team, I didn't have the ability to sense spirits like Jyn had, I also knew I could rely on Jyn if we happened to get into a scrape, I had seen him in the firing range and even practiced with him on occasion. With the matter settled I look to the team and think for a moment, " Alright. We are going to split into two man teams and begin our search. Myself and Jyn will be splitting off into a team. I want each of you to use your spirit vision helmets while searching, radio contact will be maintained with each other and the van and don't go to far from the van, we don't want to get lost out here. Now, if every one is ready, we will move out and commence our search, if you come across anything suspicious I want you to radio me and Jyn. " As I finish, I glance back at the rest of the team and give them a faint nod before I look to Jyn, " Alright, lets move out. "

South Sandy Dunes, The Search for Feidnod [Ingel]

With a nod, I agree to the notion to move out. I figured the best way to begin the walk would be forward. I attempt to sense out into the area around us to see if I felt something that was out of the ordinary. I was able to pick up the energy of the men in our troupe but so far, I did not feel anything out of the ordinary. As we walk, after getting away from the men, I inquire, “you come off as very informal with our team. This seems fine, but since you’re a Sergeant and a team leader, it may be more appropriate if you referred to yourself and my self by our titles. It’s hard to lead peers some times. It’s easier to lead subordinates. But with that said, I’m sure you’ll do fine leading as you see fit.” It had been some time since Ingel and I actually had a talk about things other than our job. We had come pretty far from our casual relationship at the range. Curiously I add, “how are things going with that one girl from the range?” Hopefully the question wouldn’t be too personal for me to ask.

After giving the order to head out I strike off with Jyn heading forwards, away from the van and into the desert. While moving through the dark sandy waists I glance around some as I bring a hand to rest on the grip of my assault rifle, keeping at the ready in case something came up that needed to be dealt with. When I heard Jyn speak I glanced at him for a moment before looking away once again as I listened to what he was saying. Now that he brings it up, I cant recall every really being a true team leader, the most I can say I have lead is a few friends back in the day when we had to deal with things on the street and that was nothing like this. As Jyn continues I begin to think on his advice and wonder if I should address the members of my team the way Jyn does. When the conversation shifts to a more personal matter, I glance to Jyn again. I didn't expect him to bring up something like that while we were on a mission, though we don't spend a lot of time together outside of work, so it would be hard to find out about that kind of stuff unless asked when we were working. Looking away from Jyn I turn my gaze to the emptiness ahead of us, " Things are going good with her. " I said as I let a smile appear on my face, " I'm sorry about how I address the members of the team. That... that's just the way I learned, if you could call it that. If you think it would be best to address them in a different way I will do my best to do it the right way. "

South Sandy Dunes, The Search for Feidnod [Ingel]

And like that, our touchy feeling “guy’s sharing a beer while fishing” moment passes. All and all, I felt it was a good talk. It was good to hear that she was doing well. A woman is a strong ground for a man, especially when he is stressed. In my special case, however, my current situation was causing me a bit more stress, but due mainly to my own indecisiveness. I nod and continue speaking while scanning the area, “it’s my belief that there is a balance between respect and familiarity. I’ve never been a people person, but most of the people I’ve observed to be good leaders follow a certain protocol. Of course, one’s integrity is what I believe is the most important aspect of a leader.” I pause for a moment feeling nothing in this direction. I look around seeing the horizon of sand with the blanket of sky above. Turning slightly, I continue my movements and speak, “things are worsening. I assume demons have a realm from where they come. Why they would come here, I do not know, but every since they have, human’s have come under danger. You should know that I feel no sympathies for spirits in our realm, but how do you feel about such things?”

I kept my gaze fixed ahead of us as I waited to hear Jyn's response, would he continue with personal questions or would he change the subject to something else. As Jyn began speaking once more the conversation continued on with the leader topic and I listened to what Jyn was saying. When Jyn fell silent as he paused, I paused as well and glanced to him, at first I thought he had picked something up on his Spirit Senses, so I waited to see what he might have picked up. When he begins moving I turn and follow after him as he continues speaking. When he finished with his question, I glanced at him before looking away, letting out a light sigh, " To be honest.. I'm not all to sure. I know there are demons out there that want to cause harm to us but it seems there may also be demons out there that simply wish to reside here in peace. I still want to protect this city, the people in it, and those that are close to me, and I will do everything with in my power to see that they are kept safe, even if that means killing demons. "

South Sandy Dunes, The Search for Feidnod [Ingel]

I keep my sights ahead as we continue to walk, feeling the crunch of the sand beneath my boots. I listen to Ingel’s words glad that I asked the question. I could respect his views on spirits even if they differed from my own. I knew that we both served the same purpose, which was to protect the citizens of the city. After his words, the silence of our surroundings engulf us. There was a soft wind that pushed through the area, but besides that, it seemed barren. “I guess you have a point,” I speak softly, semi to myself, “I wonder if they can really be trusted to exist here peacefully… they seem to have supernatural powers and longer life spans. If a few start living here peacefully, then more will come. The lines between peaceful coexistence will merge with small, less serious issues that may escalation. If we’re not careful, their race could become the dominant race and we might become the ones trying to reside peaceful existences with spirits taking over this realm. Empires expand based on its populace…” I pause in my speaking as I feel something, turning to the right. “Maybe that way…” I say as I take brisk steps towards a feeling I got.

After my comment, I had been waiting on Jyn's response to see what he thought of how I felt towards the spirits. When he began speaking I glanced at him for a moment before returning my attention to the desert ahead of us while listening to what he had to say. I knew Jyn had a point with what he was saying, if some came and liked it, word may get around to others and draw even more spirits to our realm who wish to come and reside peacefully, and if to many came then there would more then likely be many different kinds of issues. When he stopped talking for a moment I glanced at him and when he turned I turned to follow after him. When I heard his comment I nodded, " Alright. Do you feel something in this direction? " I ask as I take a glance around the area before looking back ahead of us.

South Sandy Dunes, The Search for Feidnod [Ingel]

When Ingel asks the question, I come to a halt. My hand quickly reaches for the holstered pistol beneath my arm as I nod, “yeah, something’s close suddenly.” The sand breaks in front of us billowing high into the air before sand rains down on the surroundings about us. Taking a step back, I hold my arm over my face. As the sand lowers, a large sand wall would be in front of us. If Ingel were to fire off any defensive shots, it probably would have absorbed the shots. The wall lowers and a large rock golem stands before us. I look at the bulky sand beast with a “what the” expression as I wonder on the course of action we should take. It had the jump on us, so it would probably be prepared for a frontal attack. Still it passed on the chance of ambushing us. “Humans?” the golem speaks in a deep toned voice. I give the non verbal signal with my fingers for Ingel to flank the creature. Looking down at us, the golem asks, “are you the one who brought these men into my domain?” With a nod, I answer, “I did. We are looking for information on the seven pillars. Will you answer my questions?” The towering stone creature lifts a large hand to rub its burley chin as he hums and retorts, “I know nothing solid of these pillars as I was just created. But since you have discovered me, I will lend you my aid once.” I lower my brow asking, “what?” The golem states, “I am called Feidnod. Call upon my name and I shall grant for you a guard or attack of destructive might.” By this point I was not following the creature, but it did not seem to be openly hostile. A whirlwind of sand picks up around him and shrinks in size until it is compacted and reduced into a small ball of earth. The ball shoots directly towards me and slams into my chest. For that moment, I am lifted off of my feet, whereas I land on my back in the sand, a bit dazed.

When Jyn came to a stop, I stopped as well and glanced to him. Noticing he was reaching for his pistol, I instantly brought up my assault rifle and began to glance around, expecting demons to jump out of no where and attack us. Though that wasn't the case, instead of demons the sand in front of us comes to life in front of us and bursts into the air before it begins to rain down onto us. When the sand burst in front of us I took a step back, tilting my head down faintly so non of the sand could get into my eyes. When the sand finally settled down I looked at the large wall of sand that now rest in front of us. As I looked upon the wall I shook my head once or twice to shake some of the sand from my hair as I thought about shooting the wall of sand, but for the moment I held off on that coarse of action, waiting to see what had made the wall.

As the wall lowers I gaze upon the large creature made of stone. This far Jyn had yet to take any aggressive action towards the creature so I held off on opening fire for the moment, though I did raise my weapon and take aim at the creature. When the thing began speaking to us I was a bit surprised and glanced over to Jyn to see what coarse of action he was planing to take. When Jyn gave me the signal to flank the creature I began to strafe to the side, working my way around behind the demon while Jyn spoke with it.

What happens next is something that is rather unexpected. When the whirlwind of sand picked up around the creature, I wasn't sure if it was attacking us or simply trying to escape so I held my weapon at the ready, waiting a moment to see what the creature would do. However, the thing began to shrink before my eyes and then it shot directly for Jyn and before I could do anything the thing slammed into his chest. My first thought were that the thing is attacking Jyn, and it had succeeded in attacking him. I began to rush over to Jyn's side now that he had come to rest on the sand. As I came to him, I released my assault rifle and knelt next to him, reaching out and placing a hand on the side of his neck, feeling for a pulse, " Jyn? " I didn't see any blood from where the creature had hit him so now I was begging to think it wasn't really an attack.

South Sandy Dunes, The Search for Feidnod [Ingel]

My body felt weak. The thing had plowed into me and drained all of my energy that quickly. I wondered if I had lowered my guard too much. That type of attack shouldn’t have caught me off guard since I am normally able to sense danger via my sensing abilities. I am able to understand that Ingel was around me, but I am not coherent to his existence. My pulse would be slow along with my breathing. As Ingel checks for my pulse, sand would build over my skin and crawl over my neck and features before it fades away and crumbles, sliding from me. “I…” I begin, “get me… to Angela…” It was my believe that I had been poisoned somehow and since she was the director of R&D that I was closest to our team, I knew she would be the only one who could help me. Weakly, I reach for my phone and attempt to hand it to him before my eyes slowly close and I go to sleep.

As I went to check Jyn's pulse, I noticed the sand that moved over his skin but it didn't stop me from checking his pulse to make sure he was still alive. When Jyn began speaking I looked to his face and let out a sigh of relief, he was still alive, though he appeared to be very weak, what ever the creature had done to him had taken a lot out of him. When he informed me to take him to Angela I nodded, remember the woman from the R&D department. When Jyn goes for his phone, I glance down at what he is going for and take it from him, " Don't worry Jyn. I'll get you to Angela. " I said, watching as Jyn fell into a slumber. Once he had fallen asleep, I went into action, first radioing in to the rest of the team that everyone needed to make there way back to the van. Once I had given the order to fall back to the van I take Jyn's phone and make the call into the R&D Department and speak with Angela about what had happened with Jyn and informing her that we would be there as soon as possible. Once I was finished with the call I would slip Jyn's phone into my pocket before carefully slipping my arms underneath him and lifting him from the ground. After picking him up I would processed to take Jyn back to the van so we could get him back to the R&D Department so Angela could take a look at him.
