Acquaintances or Adversaries

As I lay in a dreamless slumber, a familiar feeling begins to creep over me, the feeling of your body telling you its time to wake up. At first I was reluctant to submit to the feeling and tried to fight it to fight off the desire to wake up and continue sleeping. But it was a loseing battle. As the feeling won the battle, I let out a light grown as I began to wake. Opening my eyes or eye, I began to panic at the fact that I could only see what was on my right side. In my moment of panic I brought my left hand up to the side of my face to see what was wrong with my left eye. When I placed my hand upon the bandages that covered my left eye, I let out a light sigh as I reflected on the events of the other day and how I came in need of a bandage over my left eye. As I thought for a moment on the short battle I had with Adrian the other day, I let out a light sigh. Despite the fact that we had fought, he was nice enough to patch me up and offer me a place to stay for the night, for a human, I had to say he was nice.. I guess. He didn't openly seek to fight me when I was injured and on my last legs. Pulling my hand away from the side of my face, I glanced around before glancing down at the blanket that was placed upon me, I don't remember a blanket, so how did it get on me?

The birds chirping weren't the only sounds coming from around the temple. The sound of metal striking wood could be heard as Adrian chopped wood before throwing it into the furnace not far away. As the last of the wood flew into the opening the unmasked male shut the opening and locked it before he moved to the air pump. His arm moved back and forth at a slow but steady pace, working air in and out of the coal and wood filled furnace. He waited patiently as he sat there. Earlier, he had stuck a piece of metal into a small opening, letting it heat up as he worked.

He had more training to do, a lot more. And practice made perfect. He knew just enough to practice a few of the basic techniques on his own, but for anything real big he would need to meet with his master to learn others. The body of a demon lay not far away, it's throat slit, and the trough near the moss covered anvil was full of blood. The male soon removed the heated metal and set it on the near by anvil. Holding it in place with tongs, Adrian lifted a hammer, only to bring it down on the red hot metal. He pounded the long slip of metal with all his might before flipping it and striking it again. He repeated the process, folding the metal slowly. This was what he did with his spare time. He worked metal.

My gaze remains on the blanket for a few more seconds before it shifts as I glance around the room. While glancing around the room I bring a hand up and push the blanket off me before I begin to stand, my gaze still shifting around the room. After climbing to my feet I began to step away from the spot where I had been sitting and search for Adrian as I glance around. While glancing around, I didn't see Adrian anywhere in sight. When I heard the sound of metal clanging on metal coming from out side I froze in my tracks and my gaze shifted to the entrance of the temple. At first I thought it was a fight going on outside so I began to move towards the entrance of the temple, but as the sound continued it began to sound less like a battle and more like something else.

As I stepped outside the temple, I stopped for a moment, glancing up at the sky before glancing around, my attention coming to rest on the direction the sound was coming from. I began to move once more, making my way towards the origin of the metal on metal sound. Drawing near, I noticed Adrian as he hammered away on a piece of metal. I came to a stop a few feet away from Adrian and what he was doing and simply watched him for a moment before finally speaking up in a loud tone, " What are you doing? "

Turning away Adrian slid the metal once more into the heat making sure it was down in the bottom of the ashes and coke. Putting the hammer down he moves to the air pump once more and begins working again, pumping more air into it. He had heard Lance's question but hadn't answered yet as he worked, not wanting this rhythm to die yet. As he pumped more air into the furnace he glanced toward Lance, smirking as he nodded at the other male.

"Good morning. Your eye should be healed. You should be able to take the bandages off." he said, nodding. "I'm folding metal. The job of a blacksmith is to insure that things are made properly. My master is teaching me to listen to spirits near by so I can imbue them into the things I create."

He smirked as he continued to scrape ashes onto the metal and pump air into the furnace slowly. He had slacked in his training and needed to catch up, but he hadn't found the right material yet. He wasn't sure what he would imbue with the spirits blessing. He would have plenty of time to think it over, but still it was something he wanted to be perfect.

I watched Adrian after yelling to him, waiting for him to responded to me. Since he wasn't responding immediately, I thought he might not have heard me speak to him even though I spoke in a loud tone of voice. Since I'm not sure he heard me, I get ready to yell to him again but before I am able to I see the nod from him before he begins speaking to me. Ah, good he did hear me so I didn't have to yell for him again. When he brought up my eye, I reached up to the bandage over my left eye and ran my fingers across it for a moment as I thought on the injury for a moment. He was true, the damage should be healed by now, unlike others I am able to heal much faster. Despite the fact that my injury should be fully healed, I decided to leave the bandage on for the time being.

As he began to explain what he was doing I turned my gaze to the pump he was working with and then to the forge that housed the fire he was working. For a moment, I remained silent and simply nodded my head in response to his answer. But finally I spoke up, " I see. So you make things like weapons? "

"Weapons, knives, daggers, swords. Other things like that." he said, as he continued to work. "Though I can make anything a blacksmith of myth could. Though I'm hoping eventually I'll be better. Then again I'm just an apprentice right now."

When the metal was shining a soft red color he removed it and slid it onto the anvil before he began to hammer on it again, slowly working the material into an actual blade, though he had a way to go before it would be done. He worked the metal with smooth even strikes, taking his time and putting his soul into the very motion of folding the metal. He knew that it required deep concentration so he didn't speak as he hammered on the metal.

As Adrian began speaking I kept my gaze fixed on the fire he is working with. So he made things with blades, weapons to hurt people. While listening to what he was saying, I nodded my head faintly. As he finished speaking I remained silent for the time being, my gaze shifting to him as I watched as he pulled the metal from the fire and placed it on the anvil before he began to hit it with the hammer once more. I watched as he worked the metal like a piece of art, slowly forming it into the shape of a blade as if it were a piece of clay. Finally I broke my silence and began to speak, " I see, that's interesting. Do you know how to use these weapons you make, or do you simply make them and not use them? "

Working the metal over Adrian frowned as he worked the tip into a fine point before quenching the blade in the trough of blood, frowning as he waited patiently. He stared at the blade, before he threw it into a barrel. He would have to melt the metal in it down again and start again. One could only temper something so much before it became weak. but he could continue to use the same metal over and over again as he trained. But it would be a bit of time before he was anywhere near ready to begin working with the material his master wanted him to use. Sighing lightly he shook his head, before walking away.

The fires would die down on their own, and he could start again later. He took a rag from his robes before he began wiping his face and his hands. He smiled at the werewolf, tilting his head lightly as he frowned. Something felt off but he had an idea of what he could do. Moving to the porch of the temple he lept up and back, his hands grabbing the overhang before pulling himself up onto the roof. Grinning he moved to the highest points before looking around, his head tilting.

"Let's see. Shall we play a game, Lance?" he asked, smirking as he stood there. "Perhaps a game of tag? Let's see if you can catch me!"

I fell silent once again awaiting an answer from Adrian as I watched him work with the metal that he is working into a blade. Did he hear my question or was he just ignoring it? Damn these humans.. As he stopped working with the metals I continued watching him. When he began to move my gaze shifted to follow after him as he made his way to his temple. I took a step or two after him before I stopped as he pulled himself onto the roof and moved up the roof higher, what was he doing?

Finally he began to speak, though it was not with an answer to my question, it was with a question of his own. When he inquired about playing a game I frowned faintly as I looked up at him. Why does he want to play a game, is he trying something with me? " Tag.. That game is for children, why do you want to play? "

"You don't honestly expect me to just sit here and play a kids game, do you? Come now, you can't honestly think I don't have a plan behind my question, can you? If you do you're nothing more than a foolish child in need of a game to play. Or are you so stupid you can't identify when you need to be doing something fun for once? Geez, and here I thought you enjoyed getting a workout." he said, smirking as he ran forward, kicking off the roof, sailing through the air toward the trees not too far from him.

He caught a branch and smirked. He stood on a branch, his right arm raised up, gripping another. He pulled himself onto the higher branch and smirked, disappearing into the thick foleage of the tree. He smirked, moving as silently as he could. He knew a wolf could hear well, but he didn't know exactly how well. It would all depend on what happened next. Would the werewolf follow him to play his little game? Or would he just stand there proving Adrian correct?

If it isn't the game I am thinking about then what kind of game is it? When he referred to me as a foolish child my gaze shifted into a glare as I looked up at him. The glare only increased as he called me stupid and the feelings I had the other day, the desire to kill the man, began to come back. When he finished speaking he began to move and jumped from the roof of his temple. As he shifted from the roof of his temple to the forest I turned to keep my gaze fixed on him. I watched as he began to ascend a tree he had landed on after jumping from the roof of his temple, was he trying to escape now?

Once he finally disappeared into the foliage of the tree I let out a light growl, " Damn human.... I'll get you!! " I wasn't going to let him get away with calling me childish and stupid. I stood my ground for a moment, my gaze fixed on the area he had jumped into then finally I began to move, charging from where I stood and straight for the woods.

Adrian lept from tree to tree, his body moving with a larger stride as he went. He smirked as he threw himself from branch to branch, deliberately going slower than normal, giving Lance a chance to keep up. Then again Adrian was faster than most humans were, even in this form. If he had a transformed state that Lance didn't know about he would be pretty dangerous. As he came down on a branch he frowned, his eyes narrowing as he turned back to try and spot Lance.

"Come now Lance, you can't honestly think you can beat me like this!" he called, trying to see the other male, not sure if he should be worried or not.

As I moved into the woods I tried to keep up with Adrian though I wasn't exactly sure where he was.. He was up in the trees so he had the advantage of height on me and a head start. Though as I continued to try and locate him I began to come to the conclusion that the best coarse of action would be to transform that way I could track him much easier then I could in my human form. When I heard Adrian calling back to me, I let out a light growl, " Damn you human! You just wait, I'll catch you! " I yelled out at him. There was no getting around it, I would need to transform, I wanted to transform.. I wasn't sure if Adrian would wait for me to transform or if he even wanted me to transform for this little game but I was going to anyways. Without waiting for much of a response from Adrian I allowed the transformation to begin with in me.

As the transformation began I pulled the robe I had been wearing off and allowed it to fall to the ground. After letting the robe fall to the ground, I glanced around to see if Adrian had decided to come and watch while I transformed or was he going to run and hide while I transformed..

He waited patiently. He couldn't see Lance from where he was but every moment he remained up in that tree he got more and more nervous. He knew the werewolf was faster than he was. And with the enhanced senses of a wolf Lance had a large advantage. It was something he didn't like but he found it thrilling that Lance could show up nearly any time he wanted and Adrian wouldn't hear him coming! It was a thrill, sure. But he was really hoping he wouldn't die though the other male could beat him if he wasn't careful.

When I began to transform, I expected Adrian to come out of hiding and call off this little game or perhaps even attack me while I was in a rather weakened state but he didn't and allowed my transformation to continue. Once the transformation to woylf was finished I began to raise from the ground and as I stood up fully I lifted my head to the sky and let out a loud howl. After the howl, I fell silent but kept my head tilted towards the sky and began to sniff at the air in search of Adrian. It took a moment but when I picked up his scent I turned my attention to his direction and began to grin. Now that I had his scent finding him would be much easier, I simply had to catch him off guard now. I began to move finally and slipped into the woods and began to make my advance towards the tree Adrian resided in.

Waiting and watching Adrian stood on the branch, his right hand raised above his head, gripping the limb that stood over him. He waited patiently as he frowned, looking around the floor of the forest below him. He tilted his head as he frowned, throwing himself from the branch to another one across from him. He frowned, his eyes looking around. He knew that if Lance were a werewolf he was going to be able to hear Adrian moving, at the very least. He breathed slowly as he relished in the feel of the adrenaline pumping through his system. He hadn't felt this thrilled in a long time, but then again that's what fear could do to someone. And the demons in this forest were nowhere near his level of strength. At least the most of them.

I began to employ my acute senses once again and use my enhanced sense of smell in order to keep on Adrian's trail. While following his scent I thought on how to go about taking care of him.. did I want to kill him right away or should I toy with him a bit before killing him.. When he moved to another tree, I decided to take action and mess with him a bit before I would move in for the kill. I allowed a light growl to escape me before I thrust an arm forwards in a swipe, unleashing energy blades from the claws on my hand with Ripping Claw. My target was the tree Adrian had came to rest in, attacking the lower portion of it I was attempting to slice through the trunk of the tree with my attack and cause it to fall.

Adrian threw himself into another tree, his arms reaching out ahead of him. Grabbing the branch he'd aimed for he swung his legs forward. Aided by the forward motion of his jump he arced up before tucking his legs in. His feet touched down on the branch before he turned, frowning as he spotted Lance in full werewolf form as he grinned. The game was serious now. He smirked as he rose from the crouch on the branch. He brought his arm up gripping the branch above him as he watched his friend.

"Now now. You know full well that you can't beat me! Now I'll let you use enough force to get at me but if you so much as even try to kill me and I'll take both your eyes, you little bastard!"

After taking the tree down I stopped and waited to see if he was coming down with it but he didn't instead he moved to another tree, damn him. Since he had moved to another tree I looked up at him and began to growl at him as he spoke to me. So he was going to take my other eye huh? Well he can't do that if he doesn't have any arms, and you can still live with out your arms, for a little while at least. Though I continued to growl at him my lips curled back into a faint grin as I watched Adrian for a moment until finally I launched another attack. Though this attack, like the previous was not aimed at Adrian, it was aimed at the tree he currently resided on. Again I unleashed another ripping claws slash at the base of the tree in order to attempt and bring it down.

Adrian cried out, his balance thrown off as the tree came down from under him. Kicking off the tree he reached out for the next nearest one, his arms out stretched in front of him. He smirked as he came close to it, but cried out when he missed it and fell. He hit the ground in a roll, crying out as he trembled lightly. Getting to his feet the male turned, gulping as he summoned the Devil's Teardrop to his hand before he smirked.

"Wipe clean the powers of darkness. And purify the land!" he chanted, before the sutra cards erupted from his sleeves.

The cards flashed out, lining the ground and trees, stretching out far and wide. He smirked before rushing forward, his sword coming back, then around in a quick, slash, aimed for the werewolf's throat.
