History / About Me: A biological experiment aimed at creating a cybernetic enhancement suite for humans that could allow high-ranking human soldiers to directly network with and directly control nearby military hardware on a large scale. The amount of money placed into such a suite justified several physical and mental enhancers included in the design. The project was aimed at removing the need for human soldiers, and was called the Zero Army Project, or Project-0. The prototype X series designed as the initial test subjects for the enhancements were called the X0 series, of which only two were made. The X0 series did not yet implement the sensetive command and control neural upgrades, and insted focused on the physical enhancement upgrades.

The boy who now calls himself Ru has no recollection of his past save for splinters of recollection from a shattered mind. Candidates for the X0 series were taken from host children who demonstrated 'heightened' human attributes, considered to be the most likely to survive the proceedures. The first two test subjects were Ru, and another individual before him. He was taken from his family at the age of 9. Prior to this, he lived with his mother and brother, though he no longer remembers his brother. All records of the family no longer exist. His mother was killed when his house was raided and he was taken.

Ru's(Now catagorized as Project X-0β) instability was present before he was brought in to Project-0. He had always been 'different', and witnessing the death of his mother caused him to snap. He began to demonstrate odd behavior, such as talking to himself, having 'visions' amoungst other abnormalities. However, despite his mental state, his body was fully capible of adapting to the surgical changes made to his body. His mental instability was dismissed as a problem that 'perhaps was best' as it kept him docile and largely oblivious to what was going on around him.

What they did not know, was that Ru did not speak to himself. He spoke with the spirits around him, particularily that of his watchful mother, whose soothing voice was his only friend and only solace in and out of surgury. He was kept calm for most of the project until the final stages of the experiment where the neural adapters were added to his brain. The enhancements were not expected to cause any real changes, and were installed only to see if the host would survive. Instead, Ru's mind suddenly re-alligned and became aware. Suddenly flooded with cognative thought, and photographic recollection of everything that had happened to him, he went berserk. The incomplete modifications to his body malfunctioned, and the pain from the neutral feedback was akin to combat drugs pumping through his body, sending him into a super-human killing rage. As he had been docile for years until that point, the usual restaints had not been preparred, and security could not react to the berserk experiment in time.

Ru escaped the building through the lower levels and the sewers, but not before causing so much catastrophic structual damage that the building was partially caved in, and on fire. The sudden exposure of the project to the public was not an option, and the project was terminated, the building leveled, and the event covered up. Only two prototypes were ever produced. Ru, and the unknown ZeroAlpha, whom Ru never encountered any evidence of.

After his escape, neural shock fatigue and confusion caused him to wander into traffic and almost get hit by the car of a young teacher-assistant at the university named Sara. He collapsed on the street from the suprise, and Sara hurried to see if he was still alive, only to find that beneith the tattered white hostipal robes he was wearing was a half-modified body that was almost as much machinery as human.

Sara, being having a masters in robotics, was intrigued by Ru's body. Several hours later, Ru awoke on the sofa of an apartment. When he awoke, Sara asked questions he could not answer. He could barely even speak coherently, having literally been deprived of a normal live and education for over a decade, he lacked the skills to cope in normal society. While curious, Sara also felt pity for the cyborg, and decided to take care of him. While she could not have possibly known he was a military experiment, she knew enough to know that he was likely a secret, and decided she would keep him safe.

Two years have passed since that day. For all his lack of real education, Ru's neural enchancers made him an inhumanly-fast learner, capible of memorizing a book as fast as he can flip the pages, and recall each fact perfectly. While still highly unstable, and prone to the same habits he had before(including talking to spirits), he at least had the ability to get around on his own without standing out too much.

It is impossible to really gauge what is going on in Ru's head, but he obviously feels some sort of attachment to Sara, like a younger sibling. He has saved her from danger and injury on several occations as though he watches out for her safety at all times on a subcontious level. While this was fine at first, Ru has taken to frequently more and more dangerous acts. Sara has become increasingly worried to find Ru wandering home late at night with blood on his clothes, only to learn a few days later that some local criminal met with a particularly grizzly end.

Why Ru feels such an inclination to seek out and punish the wicked, only he knows, but the situation has only escalated.

@ ru re: jai - Quest Reward: Artifact Activation (Transformation) - increases damaging and guard affinity techniques by +1. For status effects, it increases the length of the effect x2. For status effects that have to be held, the drain is reduced yet again another 50%.
