PostSubject: -Robbery in progress-   Sun Oct 17, 2010 10:02 pm

My keys jingled in the pocket of my skirt as I made my way home after closing the coffee shop known as Moonbucks. I skipped merrily along as I was so happy. Tomorrow was my day off and there was nothing they could do to drag me back to that place while Chou and I were doing our bonding thing. It was dark, the sun had already set, and as balantly naive as I was, I was not watching around me. So I did not see the men following me at a few paces distance. I waved to a cop car sitting across the street. It was always nice to see them up here watching over the streets at night. I felt so warm and safe. It wasn't like this in the lower commons. Not to mention the cops were always coming into the shop to get coffee and my homemade donuts. So merrily I continued on my way as I made my way towards my home, an apartment I shared with 4 others and my adopted daughter. I didn't even know that I was being followed by three armed men, who had seen me close up the shop so figured I might be making the night drop at the bank. Not my job, but hey, they didn't know that. I was covering for a sick boss. Physically sick anyways, we all knew he was mentally sick with his perverted ways.

Brice sat in his car; for once he wasn’t banished to the lowly passenger seat. His partner had retired, about time he thought. William was a good guy but his old age, round tummy, and obsession with all crimes leading back to meth was more than enough reason to send him out to pasture. Of course it did make things much lonelier, he didn’t have the comfort of Williams experience, or the horrible jokes that spouted off at all times. To add to the lonesome feeling He’d been sent on night patrol lately, and with the vaspire in him starting to take hold it was difficult to stay focused. He’d grabbed some coffee earlier to satisfy his thirst but they both knew that coffee wasn’t what his darker half wanted.

The night had been rather quiet, a few domestics and false alarm but other wise everything seemed peacefully and inescapably dull. His gray lackluster eyes watched as one of the coffee shop girls locked up for the night and gave a wave witch he returned just to prove to himself he could still move that arm. As he did, he noticed the men following her, were they following her? He watched a moment before shaking his head, no that sounded like something the paranoid William would have conjured up to search the men for meth. Still he took a second glance before readjusting in his seat and pulling his eyes forward. That would be very foolish of them, to do anything when he was clearly sitting right there, still he watched from the rearview mirror just be sure.

PostSubject: Re: -Robbery in progress-   Tue Oct 19, 2010 2:50 pm

As I rounded the corner of the street and started down the alley that was the shortcut home, the three guys followed me. They were really shady looking, always looking around themselves. Then they caught up to me and I felt one of them grab my arm in the darkness of the alleyway. The second one pulled my purse out of my hand as the third one reached around and held a hand to my opening mouth just as a screech was cut off. I tried to kick at them, but number three wrapped his other arm around me and was able to lift my light frame off the ground. Number two was going through my purse and finally threw it to the side. He advanced on me with a knife appearing out of no where. "Well, bitch, where is the money"
"Dude, I think she is just a lowly worker"
"Oh hell. We needed that money" Number two got closer with an evil grin as he looked me over. His knife came slashing up and I cringed. I felt the buttons and lace on my blouse give way. His hand came to my bra and cupped my flesh. I started to fight harder.
"That's alright boys, we'll get something for coming all the way out here. Hold her tight. We can each have a turn." I bit into the hand covering my mouth and he reared back. I screamed and received a blow to the side of my face as a silencer. With my ears ringing, I felt something being forced into my mouth and found it was a gag. "Keep her quiet" number one said as number two began to unbelt and unbutton his pants.

After the scream there was a scrambled of claws against pavement as the man went about undoing his pants, a flash of brown fur broke from the shadows of the alley way, there was the twinkling of ivory white fangs and then the sharp shriek of pain as the canines punctured threw the mans arm. Taken by surprise the man lost his balance and swayed as the angry dog began to shake his wrist and drive his fangs deeper. There was a deep monotone growl, that trembled through air and shook threw the man’s chest. Finally the man's wrist gave a sickly crack as the hounds jaws crushed it and then released the man to strife the remaining men with a dangerous blood smeared snarl.

The dog came out of no where and before I knew it the men were scrambling off back out of the alley and I sunk to my knees, pulling the gag out of my mouth with a sob. I looked at the dog and scrambled like a crab until my back was against the wall. Unsure if the dog was going to come after me. It had blood on it's muzzle and I somehow blood had splattered on my torn blouse. My lacy bra showing through the ripped fabric. "Nice, puppy" I whimpered in vain hopes that the dog would not come after me next.

The men would been seen scrambling injured and screaming down the street past the cop car. Howling that some demon had attacked them. "DEMON MUTT!"

I pulled my legs up to my chest and made myself as small as possible so the rabid canine would not be coming after me. It was huge.

Duke’s muzzle twisted back baring the large menacing fangs as the men ran. As they bolted he tore off after them at a full sprint after them, his speed far surpassing there’s and closing the gap on the slowest one. As they neared the street, Duke leapt his teeth connecting with the man's ankle and tripping him. Just as the man fell Brice came around the corner and was nearly run down by the other two who didn’t seem to pay much attention to their fallen friend.
“What’s going on?” Brice shouted but the men were far too spooked to even acknowledge him as they continued to run. Turning his attention to man on the ground. “Duke, I’ll take it from here” Brice murmured putting his gun away and kneeing next to the man as his four-legged friend finally released the pant leg. Of course Brice hadn’t seen what had happened and the man was no help, so he had no grounds to arrest him or question him further.

Duke snarled and once the last man was out of earshot he let Brice have it. “What the hell are you doing? You let em go!” Duke barked, with half a mind to track them down on his own.
“What was I going to arrest them for? I didn’t see what was happening” Brice growled
“I saw what they were doing!” Duke snarled.
“Well sorry but dog’s testimony doesn’t really stand up in court” Brice remarked in a sarcastic tone.
“If you’d seen what they were going to do to that girl…” Duke paused, that was right the girl, he’d almost forgotten. Without another word the German shepherd trotted back down the alley to see if she was ok. Brice blinked and followed after him.
“See that’s what I’m talking about, you always run off and just expect me to…” Brices gaze fell to the girl he’d seen be followed by the same men, it didn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out she’d been jumped.

The dog had left and I just laid my head on my knees and sobbed, curling into myself.. I had almost been raped again. I didn’t know what was going out outside the alley but I heard the dog bark and I began to scramble further down the alleyway afraid that the dog would come back and try to kill me. The beast was rabid and scary. I stopped behind a trash can and sniffled as I continued to sob. Why were people like that always drawn to me? What made me such an easy looking target. Perhaps I should take that self-defense class to help me out. I wiped my eyes and couldn’t stop shaking. Please, I prayed as I sat there trembling, don’t let anything else happen to me. I was just one of those good people, innocent and good natured. If someone could see spirits, I would appear to have hazy wings behind my back. But if they looked closely, they would fade away. Almost like wisps of light.

The irritation caused by duke was quickly forgotten as Brice saw the girl huddling in the alleyway. It was one of those things he couldn’t stand seeing, one of the reasons he’d gotten into the profession of being a protector. Looking to dog, he knew Duke felt the same way, they both had the heart of a protector deep in their souls and seeing her there aroused the instinct even further. Brice moved closer and took a knee. Catching a glimpse of her torn shirt sent a brief blush across his cheeks but he avoided it and instead brought his gaze to fix on her soft kind featured face. “Are you alright?” He asked in his normal professional tone, but there was a softer more sincere concern to it as well.

When the man approached me, I shrank back as far as I could until I noticed he was wearing the uniform of a cop. "T-there was a dog, and those men.." I sniffled and wiped my eyes again. It was hard to talk while I was trying not to sob. Instead I ended up with a cute little hiccup. "I-I'm sorry, the dog saved me, but it looked like a demon." I was terrified of dogs and wolves after my two days with Nova. Nova... the almost rape brought back those memories and I started to cry a bit harder. Who would believe me that a demon raped me, but even that was not as strange as a demon in the past raped me. I would be locked up in a looney bin faster than a self rising donut is eaten by a fat cop.

“A demon dog?” Brice asked as if surprised, but in fact that was just what Duke was. He didn’t believe for a second that Duke would give that fact away so carelessly however, and glanced back to the hound that had settled into sit a few feet away. “That dog? I’m sure he’s more of couch potato…” Brice mentioned trying to thwart her tears with friendly words. “Here let’s get you home, or at the least out of this alley,” He said offering his hand. The scent of blood still lingered in the air, and while it wasn’t enough to draw out his inner demon, it still tortured it. Of course his better half would never have thought of making a meal out of the girl, but his other would have no problem tearing into her like a bag of chips. The thought made his stomach turn, before he banished the idea from his mind, and if she allowed him, he’d help her to her feet, and give his uniform jacket to cover up with.

My golden eyes gazed at the policeman in front of me and my abilities kicked in. I could read something different about him, a spirit possession perhaps, but what kind was a whole different ball game. With a nod of relief, I take the jacket and cover up my ripped shirt as a hiccup came over me. "thank you, officer." Then I really looked at the dog and of course blinked rapidly. "He's safe... right? Is he like your k-9 unit?" My voice sounded so small in the darkened alley as my tears dried up. I knew that I looked so vulnerable and weak. It was part of who I was really. Something so terrible could have happened to me, and I start to focus on the dog. It wasn't that I was stupid or anything like that. I was just... well... a pure heart. That was what my mother had called it. Pure of heart. Someone who looked at the world in a different way, as something good. Who always looked for the good in people. The down side was that bad things were always happening to me.

Those eyes and the adorable way that she covered up, it was like being kicked in the gut. She might as well have taken his heart out and stomped on it at that point, she was just too cute. It wasn’t so much a problem as a curse for him, the vaspire had a soft spot for women yes, but he was powerless against the most endearing kinds. He’d have done anything for her, all it too was a bat of her lashes and he’d have probably gone after all three of those men, hunted them down and made them surfer in anyway that she wanted. In fact he was still up set that he’d not acted quicker. Sure it might not have been in line with the law, but he’d been straying further and further from the laws of man and more into his own ideas of what was right or wrong. Ugh, and the way she said “Thank you officer” only made things worse, how could he not feel protective over such a sweet and innocent young lady? Still he managed to answer, with as much calm reserved as he had left. “Duke? Yeah, that’s exactly what he is, you don’t need to worry about him, he only goes after the bad guys.” Brice assured her.

At his name Duke’s ears perked up and he fell into a slow looping gate next to them as the headed back to the street. His tail swayed side to side and he circled them then sat at Brices Side as the cop came to a stop. He was doing his best to play the role of the loyal dog; it was a role he enjoyed. It was why the yokai had chosen Brice as his master; they shared the same protective noble nature. However, unlike the Vaspire, Duke didn’t have the darkness in his soul, or the need for blood.

“Would you like to file report? Other wise I can escort you home.” Brice offered, weather she did or not he was already planning on tracking down those men. The task would be far to easy, two were bleeding, the fresh scent of their blood already filled his mouth and nose, and with duke the third one wouldn’t stand much of chance at escaping his wrath either. The anger caused his eyes to flare the bright red of his other self, and he could feel the fangs itching between his lips. It took the last of his strength to hold back his demon from taking over. He couldn’t the last thing he wanted was to frighten her, and that idea alone was enough to sip side the temporary flare.

"no. I don't think I should file a report. But that you. And I think I can make it home. I live just around the corner." I was still shaky as I smiled at the two of them and started to wobble down the street, but first I reached out to pat the dog on the head and smile to the policeman. "Thank you so much office. feel free to come into the shop sometime. The coffee will be on me as a thank you for saving my life" I still looked a bit shaky, but I bucked up and was trying to resume my normal nightly activities. Unless stopped, I would bid him goodbye and start my way back towards my apartment.
