Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyFri Nov 26, 2010 5:21 pm

This time was more than I could handle. I hated the medieval days when they happened, and now as a favor for Sanzon I was staying here to look after his civilization. The sun was setting across the horizon. Slowly, my eyes would close, leaving me with the remnants of my dreams..

Flashback....
As I stood in the large door way my gray eyes laid upon her as she stood on her marble balcony staring in to the white moonlight. The balcony which was black marble shined in the moonlight. Upon my face was a soft expression that I kept on my face just for her, despite the pain in my heart. As a child and even now I could fool people about what my emotion was but I knew that she had began to pick up my little trick over the years and could understand my real emotions more every day. She had lost her former glory that she had when I was born and a young child. Her once shimmering milky peach skin had turned in to a ghostly shade of white, her violet eyes that where once bright with hope dimmed almost to a gray. Her violet hair which had gotten long over the years looked to be poorly taken care of it had lost all of their shine. The wear and tear of her past and present was now being shown all across her body. Ever since he had left she had began to allow herself to be claimed by age.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyFri Nov 26, 2010 5:21 pm

She looked to be like a fragile porcelain doll with many cracks that could shatter in to millions of pieces at any given time. To me this was the worst thing to watch, she was murdering the person she had once been. I slowly began to walk towards her; my foot steps were quiet so I wouldn't startle her. Personally I didn't even want her to look at me because I looked too much like my father. When she looks at me I feel like she is trying to see my father again but has slowly began to forget what he once looked like. My hair being the same blue, my eyes the same deep gray and the makings below my left eye being close to his all would come together in her mind slowly and sit there till it created or remembered a previous memory of him. I also didn't want to see the hurt in her eyes as she did remember what he looked like. All he ever did was hurt my mother and for that in a way I hated him even thought he was my father. It has been so long since he left us, I figured that I might have forgotten about all this by now but it just got worst as my emotions towards him turned soured. When I left my thoughts I seen her looking a me with a soft smile upon her face. I leaned against the balcony doorway seeing if she had anything to say.

PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyFri Nov 26, 2010 5:25 pm

"Good Evening Jaine" Her voice was very soft and calm like it always had be and with her white nightgown and robe, she looked like she was a angel, even though she wasn’t. Her people also used to called her a higher demon with white wings that could save ones soul. That was the joke surrounding her breed. They posed as angels, and would consume humans who bowed before them. Yet ever since he left her the once white wings had turned gray and withered away. In a way I wanted to find a way to give her back those white angel wings she once had, but I had no idea how to return her to that angelic glory she once had been in. It was amusing to be speaking of a demon in that way. I was the angel, and I was more demonic than she was. Yet with her position, where she stood on the black balcony it was a well contrast almost like her and my father. As she spoke her hand motioned for me to come upon the balcony, her hand moved slower than it used to almost like it was stiff. For the artist she used to be it was unusual for her hands to be so stiff but she quit a few years ago so maybe that is why she became the way she has. I had not seen a painting from her in nearly seventy years. When we had met, I was only a fledgling in the spiritual world.

PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyFri Nov 26, 2010 5:30 pm

Those days were long sense past, and even now I wondered if things had been different had I walked away. I walked up to the balcony railing slowly grabbing it when I got to it. She then looked up at the stars that were sprinkle across the human sky. I looked up soon after she did, instantly remembering when my mother used to take me out in the crimson fields during training to teach me about the various stars and constellations. I would sit upon her lap listening to every word and teaching as she spoke to me "Good evening" I replied to her in my normally calm voice. In a way we were alike, that our dispositions were the same. She had raised me for part of my life after I was lost in the human world. In turn, I had picked up many of her personality quirks. There was a slight chill in the air, which I used as a reason to take her inside. It was difficult to see her like this. There had been a human who had sealed all of her powers away, aging and withering her into this shrivel old relic. It was difficult to see her like this, and even now I would have preferred to stay away. Unfortunately, until she was restored, I would come here routinely to make sure she was still in existence. The watchers had never been able to figure out what I was doing, but I knew all too well what would happen if they did.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyWed Feb 09, 2011 12:30 am

Things had changed since then. Opening my eyes, a small child was before me. Quickly, she smiled, placing a single hand across my cheek before disappearing in a beautiful array of light. With that, I would awaken to the sound of horses outside. The workers were doing their jobs as well as I could ask. To think of it, I was fairly impressed with the work that they had done so far. It was reassuring to have Jaine as active Chancellor of Artillia while I was gone. There were some things that I knew I could leave to him, and it was an ease of mind to realize that he was doing well in my absence. Now, the academy was a different story. I had full staff and a great assistant to run things while he worked on the corporate side of it. I bet Megan was having a fit. I did promise her that I would one day bring her here, but this was not that time. Listening to a man dismount his horse, I would flip off of the hammock and stride towards the front door before it swung open. A large, burly man would be out, laughing as he saw me. He was my favorite trader, someone who ran a slave route across the coastline. Jaine had not purchased anyone from him since I had left, leaving him in poor spirits. Now that I was back, he would be back in business.
“Gulasar! Good to see you!”

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyWed Feb 09, 2011 12:33 am

He laughed loudly before we shook hands and proceeded to business. After expressing his happiness in seeing my return, he got straight to the point of being here. “It is good to see you as well friend, I bring lots of new slaves from the desert.. almost a hundred new slaves..”
“Hey, Cavor! Write this man a check… I mean.. get him some gold! We have business to do!”

Walking past him, I would take a look at the small group of guards that were spread across the large group of slaves. A hundred slaves? Too bad I didn’t need that many slaves right now. Looking across them, I would try to keep the families together, and work to pick groups that looked to have a great work ethic. The air was nice and soft today, putting me in a great mood.
“Seventy five of your best, and be sure to come back next week!”
“Seventy five it is, take your pick and welcome back!”
With already a solid selection, I went through the slaves and picked them out. As soon as they had been selected, they were escorted towards center square and lined up. Most of them had probably expected to be slaves for the rest of their lives. I would keep them there until the slave driver left. I was really running a solid rescue operation here, and that made me quite happy.
“good afternoon everyone! Today, you woke up a slave, and were delivered to me. I offer you the chance to work for your freedom. Build a home for your family, and contribute to Artillia. From this point on, you will join the free people who have come before you, as citizens of Artillia. It isn’t much now, but with your added work, our village will one day be a prosperous city!”

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyWed Feb 09, 2011 12:23 pm

The workers had been able to assimilate quite well into their new homes. The residential district was slowly losing tents, and slowly gaining homes. We only had 6 of them up right now, but that was more than what we had when I returned. The new workers were catching on quickly, and enjoying the freedoms that came with what we did here. While we were not as big as Mandira or Domenance, I preferred the small village atmosphere. Everyone knew everyone, and even though some were slaves, and some were relocated from their homeland, they were all citizens of Artillia. That was all that I needed to make sure they were kept safe. Jaine had done a great job so far, and had left me a record of his ideas for expansion. One of the first things that was on the list was to open a hotel of some sort. We needed a way to bring in people from other nations, and give them a product that made them want to come out here. For that, a beach front resort sounded like it would be perfect. That would boost our economy, and give us an edge on marketing. Word of mouth was the primary means of communication in this time, and that was unfortunate. There were no radios or newspaper stands, no television or internet; it was all the old fashioned way. Walking out to the side of the building, I would look across at the foundation of our largest project so far. The manor that was currently being constructed would be the largest building created over here so far. It would be a center for all affairs, and give us exactly what we needed in terms of status and stature. The problem we had was a difficult one for me to solve.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyWed Feb 09, 2011 12:23 pm

Looking to the young lady that was kept at my side at all times, I asked her to find Cavor and give me an update on the village’s treasury report. If we had the funds, it would be much easier to purchase lumber from another village, or our partners in Mandira. Either way, we needed to get work done, and we didn’t have the lumber processing capacity to take care of it right now. While she disappeared across the village towards the treasury building, I looked past it, visualizing in my head a new government sector, where each department had its own building. A medium or large building for each sector of the government: Military, Treasury and Economy, Trade, City government where we will elect representatives to lead the departments, and of course, the capital building which is being started now. The only concern that I had was for defense. It wasn’t like I couldn’t take care of the village on my own, but there may come a day when it isn’t enough. As soon as the capital building was finished, we would begin construction on our defense network. I hadn’t even started working on outposts, and that was an issue.

Taking to the air, I would fly over to the current military building, a small house with horses tied up in front. It really looked like something out of a western film. Inside, tables were set up with maps on them. Routes for patrols were laid using cavalry pieces, and Marci, the current head of militia, was looking across at something peculiar. As I entered his view, he would hop up to greet me before looking back down at it. With a quick move, I would bring my attention to the map between us.
“we have patrols across these four areas. There is some weird stuff going on over here, but it’s nothing we can’t handle…”
“I would like an outpost set up in these three places. On top of each I want a fire tower that the other towers can see in case of emergency. Each of these three towers will be seen from the village, giving us the necessary time we need to mobilize defense.”

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyWed Feb 09, 2011 12:39 pm

“Yes sir.”
“Scout these areas for hills that would make a good position for these structures. You can have the patrols do it while they are out, sound good?”
Turning, I started to walk back towards the door when Cavor, the financial director caught my attention. He was a short, stout man who was great with record keeping and finances. I would join him while we walked outside. In his hands were a set of scrolls that he attempted to open while walking. Directing myself towards the market, I would grab a table and take a seat, allowing him to do the same. He would give me a brief overview of the current finances, with a bit of happiness that they were expanding due to the new merchants we had sent out to the other villages. Currently, we had ten bards, and forty traders who represented us. It was a good, solid number, and I was more than happy with it. Looking over the numbers, I took the scroll for a few minutes, pondering where we could loosen up some spare change.
“Cavor... We have an extra set of emergency funds. I want you to dip into that for trade. We need at least five thousand shinny to trade for lumber. That will give us the amount needed to run the village properly, and keep the builders guild on track. After all, they were doing a great job of building and I wanted to make sure they continued to have something to work . Send a representative to Mandira first, I want to give them the option of selling before we go elsewhere.”
“Yes Chancellor, I will get on that right away.”
Moving quickly, the small man hopped up, grabbed the scrolls and scuffled off towards the treasury department. If Mandira sold us wood, we could keep a flowing economy between our two nations, and that would be something worth setting up. I would rather sell to Muky anyway.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptySun Feb 13, 2011 12:06 pm

Another day was over, and all I had was another long list of things to do. There were several parts of me that missed my bed, a hot shower, and a hot glass of tea every morning. My focus was tired already, and night would not bring me any rest. The rocking of the boat was something that I would have to get used to all over again. What a pain in the ass it was, but it was secure and away from the village. If anything wanted to target me, my people would be safe and out of the way. Before I knew it, dawn would arise, and a bright light would carve through the darkness of my cabin. The sound of builders working in the distance would slowly come to my ears before a knock hit my door. A half sigh, half yawn would escape my lips before casually floated up and over to the door. Wearing nothing but a half robe, wrapped around my waist and draped towards the floor, the door would open to reveal Cavor, the chief of treasury. His bright personality was too much for me to take this early in the morning, so I simply shook my head while he read me the daily treasury report. We were gaining money quickly, and that was something I liked to hear. Unfortunately, we were also spending on the expansion. The manor was being built, and was nearly a third done. Once it was complete, the capital building would be next. This village was slowly becoming a city, and I was rather happy at that. Progress was progress, and nothing would stand in our way. The knowledge that my people were working hard to make a better life for themselves and their families was all I needed to stay here and protect them. After all, as a higher order spirit it was my job.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyMon Feb 14, 2011 12:12 pm

Cavor would quickly wrap up his business before departing the ship. There were a few things I had to get out of the way, and one of them was the creation of a new trade route to Tara Mura. That city was a prime place for trade, and had some resources that I could use. Unfortunately, my other grand issue was getting them here. We didn’t really have a large military force that could be used to protect people like that, so we were stuck having trust that they would deliver after we paid them. The other thing we had was my lack of faith that kept me making sure they were on top of things. Changing clothes quickly, I would depart the ship and head straight to the dock, where another ship was pulling in. Hahn, our harbor master, was already taking care of preparing the docks. From the looks of it, a boat from Mandira had pulled in. We were still waiting on the assistance of their builder’s guild, so until now everything was going well. Even without them, we were carrying on and pushing forward with our building plans. For the first time, all of the builders were working on the same project, a massive one that would trump anything we had in size. Once that was taken care of, the only thing left to do would be to start the defense system and get it up and running. Speaking of a builder’s guild, we would probably be starting our own version of that very soon. I had a lot of work to finish, and about twenty other buildings to make but those were even lower on the priority list. I would look in happiness as I floated into the village, making sure to check our marketplace for activity, and even go as far as walking into the farms to check for the crops. So far, all was well in Artillia.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyWed Feb 16, 2011 2:17 pm

The capital was coming along well, better than what I had thought. With the latest treasury report in my mind, I needed to set out to purchase more lumber. We had a lot of work to do, and not a lot of time to do it. I needed, for the most part, the wood to finish the capital, and then the stone for the wall. Stone was going to be more difficult to come by, and would probably take a while to get there. It was my priority to wrap up projects and get swiftly started on the defenses of our city. I wanted to make sure that we had everything we needed in case of an issue with the neighbors. This would also help us since we were using a layered approach to building. At this point, I was pretty satisfied with everything that we had going on. Striding into the center of the village, my eyes would gaze at the structure before me. The outline of the manor had been built, the stone foundation was set, and they were working on building it. It was rather nice to see an entire village working together with little issue. There was no conflict, and everyone was doing their part. The only concern that I really had was the militia. Taking this into consideration with the growth that we currently had, our military force was quickly growing as well. It was only natural that this would happen. While our villagers were doing their daily workings, and everyone was building, I would call our militia together for some combat training. As of now, I had five divisions, and that had to be cut down. Restructuring, I would combine them into three divisions. First division was our command group, Division Two was our left block, comprised of half foot soldiers and half archers. Division three was a support, comprised of half foot soldiers and half cavalry. Sending the archers over to the farm land for archery practice, I would stay with the cavalry to work on flanking formations. The foot soldiers would do individual sparring to keep their individual skills up, making me rather satisfied.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyFri Feb 18, 2011 1:09 pm

Soldiers were soldiers. I remembered back to when I saw the strict training that Mukhya had put his warriors through. It was a harsh reality that they lived in, and I bet they were strong, honorable warriors. If not, then they were dishonorable warriors who would do whatever it takes to serve their master. My soldiers, on the other hand, were all brothers. They were comrades who were friends and devoted their time to becoming fulltime soldiers. When it was time to work, they worked. They trained hard, and they lived life to the fullest. They had been given another chance, and the thought of losing that to an outside force was not something they wanted to go through. With the lunch hour approaching, I dismissed all of the soldiers to go relax through midday. Most of them would spend the time with their families, or head down to the beach to relax. I had to figure out a way to build a small hut down there for me to relax in. That would be rather nice. As I headed back towards the village, the sight of children in the dirty street would give me an idea. I had to think about it briefly before figuring out how I wanted to do it. Moving swiftly towards the lumber yard, I would select three large tree planks for the base of this project. After grabbing a few of the men, we would move quickly across to an open area where a building was in the plans to be structured. The ground was still grassy, so I would not use it for anything else than I needed right now. The future of our village was easy to manage, and I wanted to make sure they were doing well. Making a triangle shape, with about thirty feet between planks, we would drill them six feet into the ground. Checking for sturdiness, a metal rod would be hooked each at about eight feet up before we connected a plate. The plate would have a hook on it that was used on horse carts and carriages. Through here, I would give our artisans a plan for weaving a triangular net, covered with fabric to make it soft. It might take a few days, but in a few days, the kids of the village would have a giant, three armed swing set that they could all ride at once. It was strangely designed, but it would work. Turning, I watched the last touches of the large manor, the capitol building, being finished. The construction had taken a while, but it was finally done. With the villagers gathering to view it, I smiled and admired their work. We were official. Mukhya would have to come and visit so he could see the progress that we had made. This manor towered over the entire village, and would be the standpoint for our entire civilization. This was it. This was our future. This was where we started.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptySun Feb 20, 2011 10:48 pm

With every new day came a new list of things to do. Today’s list was even better. The fabric weave had been finished, and a light buzz had traveled through the village to all of the children. Day had broken the horizon, and already the merchants were taking care of their business. I would stand on my balcony, looking out across the buildings of our capitol. The large manor was a great asset to our village, and was a testament to our establishment as a city. I was completely satisfied with now having a secured floor to myself. The only people allowed up here were the four women who were my personal assistants. The floor below was resigned just for the heads of each department. They were each granted an office and private work space to manage their affairs. In the center was a large conference type room where I could have meetings with everyone as needed. Around the rest of the facility were rooms for business and diplomatic relations. After all, I wanted diplomats to have a warm stay here. The sights were fantastic from up here, and I was really, really happy that all had come out well. Our builders were rocking the next series of building projects, and lumber was being imported from across the water. The most difficult issue would be the transportation of stone to up here. Our builders were going to finish the resource management department, which will feature a yard to house our lumber and stone properly. From here, we can start building the first layer of defenses that will protect our city. I had a work plan in my head, but that would have to wait for now. Priority one was getting the kids of our village something to do in their free time.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyMon Feb 21, 2011 11:16 pm

The fleet that came was larger than what I had expected. Thankfully, our traders were already stockpiling stone for us to use. This was going to be more important than any project we had partaken in. The carpenters were perfectly capable of building a wall that would be our first line of defense. Within the hour of daybreak there had amassed one thousand builders, who were working before I could even give an order. Upon landing, our harbor master would point them in the direction of our divisions. Each section of 500 builders would be paired up with our own to start work. It would take some of the day to spread the resources out, but once that was done; we would easily be able to start building our defensive perimeter. The wall would be thick, and allow a pathway across the top. Our patrols could patrol from a safe area, and actually live on the outskirts of the city. I had been awoken by one of my ladies, who told me the boats had landed from Mandira. Before I could even get clothes on, they were already heading off to start their jobs here. I was highly impressed, and would be spending a lot of time at the front lines observing them. I wanted my small builder’s guild to watch and observe while assisting so that they could learn the ways of the trade. Building was a difficult thing to do, and Mukhya had perfected it. With that many people, he could probably expand very rapidly. That was highly impressive to me, and I wanted it as well. Turning to my closest concubine, the one who stayed with me at all times, I would give a simple order. “Send Cavor to Mandira with our treasury. We must return the service for our ally.” She would smile and nod before turning to depart. Before midday, he would be on the way to Mandira with a tribute of 20,000 shinny. I was satisfied with it, and through the day I would observe, with my four ladies, the work that these builders would do on our defensive walls. The wall was starting at the beach, and would move all the way inland before cutting straight north. Then, the great wall would begin. This was probably going to be one of the largest defensive walls in the entire world before it was over.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyTue Feb 22, 2011 11:35 am

There was a lot of work to do, and now that I could see the expansive wall being built, it made my heart race. If I could get these workers for a little stretch of time, our city would grow exponentially. Unfortunately, the defensive wall was the number one priority. My own workers were doing well, and keeping up. It made me rather happy to know that they were learning, and working hard. They had been given as much rest as they wanted, and could continue at their leisure. Fortunately for me, they worked hard, as if their master was right behind them the entire time. Rolling over, I unwrapped my arm from one of my concubines before rolling off of the bed and standing up. A quick stretch would wake me up before moved out towards the balcony. A swift extension of my arm, and a robe would be across my bare skin, shielding it from the morning breeze. Another beautiful morning, and another day of complete progress. The residential sector was growing rapidly as more and more people decided to come to Artillia. That reminded me, the slavers would be coming through today. It may be a great chance for me to get some more builders to expand my own guild. I also had to go expanse trade with the other villages, and grow it up to the cities. Tara Mura was first on the list since they had a resource that was greatly important to me. Looking out across the city, I had another concern. We were in fact growing in size, but that wasn’t going to be enough. We really had to crack down on the military, and expand that as well. Unlike the others, I still wanted to believe that the military was for protecting the people, not for conquest. Then again, the only thing we had to protect our now large village was a hundred soldiers. That would not be enough were another country attempt to invade us. Thankfully, the wall would give us some leeway in managing conflict, and I would be able to assist in that way as well. Bringing my eyes across the distance, I could see the wall being constructed. It was a beautiful sight indeed, and hopefully by the end of the week or so, we would have a nice defensive barrier. I wasn’t as lucky as Muky to have his entire nation on an island. I was glad he was moving inland, and now I felt the need to assist him in building as much as I could. After all, there was little that I could do right now, especially with the defensive work, that would be possible without his assistance. I would have to send him a Christmas fruit cake or something. Did they have fruitcake back here? It really made me wonder what Jaine was doing, and if he was enjoying the future realm. Would it be the future, or the present realm? If you could come into the past, then maybe there was a way to get into the future from the future.. it all didn’t really make sense to me, but I knew that it might be possible. After all, what we were doing right now was possible, and that was more than enough proof for me to go off of in this theory. Little did I know that I would soon be getting a visit from my fiery friend, who could do an interesting trick like teleporting. I would really have to learn how to do that, it would be quite handy in keeping my clothes dry.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyWed Feb 23, 2011 10:01 am

Day three, and I already had over half of the wall built. The builders were constantly resupplied, and overall, commerce in the city had come to a halt. We were holding off everything so that we could adequately support the builders who were constructing the wall around Artillia. The forest was being cut down and turned into lumber, but the forest on the other side was being used as a natural barrier. I would stand on a part of the wall, looking out across the forest. To make it safer against attack, I wanted a forty foot open barrier. This would make sure that there was no cover for any enemy that dared assault our walls. One of the most important things was no cracks or weaknesses in the wall. The only fault was the main gate, and that may prove rather easy to defend. Overall, there was little for me to be worried about right now. Everything was going according to plan, and without delay. I didn’t have a division of spiritual haters to stand in my way back here. It kind of made me wish that things were this easy in the future realm. After all, I was building a large organization. There was music upstairs in my head, children were playing, our city was working hard, and I couldn’t be happier. Floating off of the wall, I would call over our forest guild, who was busy making a path for the wall.. A quick explanation would be given to them of what I wanted before they started walking away from the wall to mark the new forest tree line. Hopefully, by the end of all of this, we would have a fully secured city. Inside the gate side, and at each segment of the wall, an outpost was going to be built. I would get on those later though, right now it was time to do more work.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyThu Feb 24, 2011 10:46 am

And so it was done. Before I knew it, the short amount of time the guild of my ally had been here had passed, and the fortification of our village was complete. I could rest easy knowing that we had a point of expansion, and an actual city boundary. The next part of my vast to-do list was to get our outposts set up, and work on expanding our protective network. For this to be successful, we would have to recruit more builders, and get more slaves to free. If Muky knew that I was freeing slaves and giving them a free life here, he would lecture me about being a weak leader. Looking off of the balcony of our capitol, I could disagree. Our people were working hard to make a home for themselves, all together, without me being an over bearing dictator. Turning around, I would move to the other side of the room, and out to the balcony where I could watch the sunrise every morning. The docks were bustling with work, getting everything ready for the casual return home we had for these builders. They were welcome here anytime, and I had made that personally clear to them. Their services had been highly appreciated, and I would have to expand trade with Mandira to keep the resources between our nations. I would rather go to him than another one anyway. Some of the other countries did need to be contacted for trade though, so it was time to get our merchants out to the furthest reaches, and help spread the name of our nation. I would not be satisfied with just having a mediocre nation, I wanted a powerhouse, and that was something that I would be getting. I had started off slow, but now it was time to take things to the next level.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyTue Mar 01, 2011 10:52 pm

It really made me wonder how my counterpart was doing in the future. I had worked hard to make things work right now, and so far it was all going well. We had worked our asses off building the wall, and the builder’s guild was doing far more work than I had even expected them to do. The builders had begun working on the next piece of the puzzle, which was the expanded part of the capitol building. The military was growing rapidly, and the traders were coming to town. The amount of slaves we were gaining from them were slowly being freed, and added to our own people. I wanted more builders to expand now that our residential district was taking hold. With Cavor running the treasury and purchasing a surplus of wood, I was happy to see our entire residential district exploding. The dream of everyone having their own homes was going to be completed without hassle. I didn’t have to worry about my people being held in the elements during times of rain, snow, and bad weather. It was a worry that every leader held.
A few moments later, a knock would come at the door. Swinging open, my top concubine would enter with a smile. She would inform me that we had a great deal on wood, and the residential sector would be completed within a shorter amount of time than originally expected. Taking her into my arms, I would wrap around her, and plant a big happy kiss on her face. It was something that I had never done to her, and I could feel her body shaking from fright at the random outburst. Letting her go, I would return to the balcony to look out across my city. It was slowly becoming completely perfect.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyThu Mar 03, 2011 2:50 pm

Stepping out onto the balcony, I would gaze upon the capital of Artillia, Terja. Terja was beginning to expand, and at a rapid pace that had me in astonishment. The guild from Mandira was being more than useful, and I would have to find a way to pay it back with a tribute or something. That could come later. Across the room behind me was a report from the treasury with our daily numbers. Without a shadow of a doubt, I knew we would be able to work on the next part. I wanted to go more towards the future, and get an entire sector of the city for medical work. We needed a hospital, and that was a priority for me. After all, I had to take care of my people. We were now isolated from the rest of the continent, and with good reason too. I was weary of them, and didn’t fully trust their motives for trade. While I was benefitting from the trade agreements, and the wood and stone were coming in more than handy, there were certain other issues that I wanted to take care of. The natural defense had been built up, along with our outer wall. The carpenters guild from Mandira was quickly expanding our residential district, and soon we would be able to house our entire nation. All I really had left to do was to personally travel to other nations, and make it known that we were a sovereign, independent nation. Trade would then be allowed to commence in full swing, and we could share our natural resources with those areas less fortunate. Then, there was the issue of Mandira itself. While we were in fact allies, the only part of my nation that was not protected was the border to the sea.

Artillia Settlement Empty
PostSubject: Re: Artillia Settlement   Artillia Settlement EmptyFri Mar 04, 2011 8:32 pm

I would walk out to the sandy beach that stretched for a couple miles. The territory had a beautiful, white sandy beach. With my shoes off, I would stand at the edge of the water and look out towards the direction of Mandira. I needed to find a way to defend my nation against any type of attack, even water. Maybe I should build a wooden wall across the ground to make a defensive barrier. There were many possibilities, especially now that the residential district has been finished. I had a laundry list of things to do, especially now that I wanted to open up a medical sector. Putting that all aside, I would turn around to face the city. The builders were working hard, and I could hear the hammers from here. It was like a drum set in my head that never stopped beating, like a pulse of our city’s heart. Quickly, my mind would turn back towards the important issue: trade. I had to set up trade routes with Tara mura, domen’s territory, and Sai. Trade was a growing concern for me, especially if the city kept its current expansion rates. Cavor had kept a running chart of our people, and even listed it by division and occupation. If we kept these numbers, we would outgrow our food supply and capacity for farming within a month or two. The need for an expansive trade settlement would be required for our survival. That, and two more little villages out on the outskirts. If all went well, we could have the outposts set up within the next few days, and work on expanding our internal military. The militia was going well, and training was solid from what I had seen. Their sense of unity had greatly increased since they first arrived here. It almost felt like they were fighting for their new homeland.
