israel spada - autumn in turmoil
.....space lion by the seatbelts
Nightfall. The brigade of floating green lights would scatter upon the presence of an intruder. It was a sign of obvious weakness. Despite their numbers appearing to be doubled against the stagnant waters of the age old pond, hidden in these forest walls, the hundreds of lightning bugs would not hesitate in their retreat. Two cruel golden eyes would wait for them to leave his presence, watching them diligently as he made his way to the very edge of the dark water. Covered from head to toe in his odd Arabian garb, there was nothing to distinguish him aside from his clothing, and those two brutal eyes. Dark skin would caress itself as his hands would press against each other, his long, lanky legs compacting themselves as he would kneel towards the earth. His posture would continue to be correct, though it was obvious that he was looking at something in the water. The sword which would hang dangling from his side would slide against the dirt, softened by the time spent near the water. He had no idea how to use it, other than the most basic attacks, but it was something he was still investigating. What was on his mind currently was something much more important. Two bare fingers would slowly stretch into the water, stroking them gently as he would test the temperature of the liquid. This would be the worst time to be caught in some sort of pneumonia fit.
Only a handful of hours remained before he would have to return to his post, relieving one of his fellow militia men. He had to make this quick. His eyes would detach themselves from his own dark reflection, made possible by the light of the ever-luminous insects which continued to float around him. As the young man's fingers would remove themselves from the water, the mystery would thicken. This water wasn't stagnant at all. As the lightning bugs would continue to move back to the pond in which they originated, an item of particular interest would reveal itself. Hidden in the darkness of the wooded area, a massive wooden door would reveal itself, a device of unnatural quality. As it stood, half emerged in the shallow pond, the contents in which it protected appeared to be an equally shallow cave, one which would promote any sane adventurer to abandon it immediately.
