PostSubject: Paranormal Research(Work)   Tue Mar 10, 2009 2:00 am

Adrian was sitting in Akiko Suzuhara's office, his eyes scanning one of the many books from her shelves. He was reading silently as he sat in the chair in front of her desk, waiting for the older woman to show up for their meeting. She had work for him and he was not going to wait forever. When she entered he glanced up, smiling at her as he closed the book. He stood and moved to put the book away before returning to his seat as she sat at her desk.

"You look like hell." he said, watching her.

"That bad? I don't know what it is. I don't think it's stress but it might have to do with some of the idiots falling asleep in my class. One of whom is my research assistant!" she said, frowning at him.

"I can't help it! I know this inside and out. Tell me, what you want me to do." he asked.

"Fine. I need some information regarding the spirit world. I need... I dunno someone's point of view a supposed expert on the matter."

"I have a good idea on where to get it. My grandmother left me her notes. She was some kind of monk or priestess or something. It's pretty interesting."

"Sounds like it would be interesting to go over. Compile the notes and I'll sign the paycheck. And add your own version to them. Any experiences you've had yourself. I want to know her facts and your modern view."

Adrian wandered from professor Suzuhara's office, after taking his leave of the woman to get on with his job. He made his way silently to his apartment, grabbing his laptop and one of his grandmother's journals. He took them with him to the cafeteria. Sitting alone at a table, he began typing away, copying the notes his grandmother had left him hidden among things in the storage garage she'd given him the key to. He sighed, lightly as he sat there in front of the window.

His fingers danced over the keyboard as he stared at his book. He paused only to turn the page before he went back to typing. No wonder his grandmother had such heavy arthritus. She wrote everything as if it were something she had intended to publish. Or was it?

"No way would grandma publish this. Everyone would think it was... fiction. Damn I'm an idiot. I'm sitting on a fiction gold mine here and I'm using it for notes for Akiko? Jeez, my head isn't on straight. Oh well I can still do both." he said, grinning.

He continued working making a copy for his friend and instructor, before he began typing his own experiences regarding encounters with Yokai, Kamikonjou, and Onikonjou. He finished up the chapter with a few extra notes, and stories his grandmother had passed along to him.

"There. That ought to cover everything that she needs, at least for this book. Dammit I'm gonna need more than two weeks for this book. This sucks. I'm not gonna be able to get the damned book done either. At this rate Suzuhara's gonna get rich on everything." he muttered

Adrian sat silently in his apartment, his eyes scanning his grandmother's book as he yawned lightly. It was getting late as he read over the book, trying to decide what to put in it. He wasn't quite sure what would be good to tell his boss. Akiko had said she wanted to know everything she could from the books his grandmother had passed on to him, but he didn't know if every lesson would be a good idea. He knew the risks. If it fell into the wrong hands then it could very well lead to people hunting the wrong spirits down and wiping them out.

"Dammit. I don't know what to do anymore. This is just too strange. How did grandma come across all this information? Did she have someone teaching her? I don't understand grandma!" he said to himself as he stood.

He wandered from his desk, moving into the kitchen knowing the way by heart as he read. He took a beer from his fridge and opened it before sipping from the bottle. He made his way back into the main room of the apartment. Sitting on his couch he took a long swig from the beer before setting it down. His fingers once more began moving over his keyboard, typing up an abridged version of her words, leaving out the heavy details his grandmother had left to him. He ran a hand through his hair and sighed lightly as he stared at the information. He left in a few of the details regarding spiritual magicks.

"Do her later works have demon magick listed in them? I know she said you couldn't learn both but she had to know someone that could do it." he muttered.

Adrian sat at a table in the cafeteria, his breakfast beside his laptop. His fingers danced, as he punched in the various calculations, and what not he'd found in his grandmother's journals. It was as if trying to use math and science to prove that spirits existed. This was something he would give up to his instructor. Akiko would only have a part of the puzzle, where as Adrian had every piece he needed to put it together. He had begun his training into the magicks of the Kamikonjou, better known as the spiritual arts. He had even discovered a technique that might protect him from that demon bastard's magicks.

His current information being put in was information from a trip he'd taken just the other day, into the deep. He had encountered a werewolf, to avoid being chided he had used the word Lycanthrope, and fought it. He had been unable to kill it but had successfully escaped and returned home. He had the injuries to prove it too. Anyone looking at him could tell he'd had the hell beaten out of him, but he wore the wounds like badges of pride. Who else could say they took on a werewolf in the middle of a full moon and escaped?

"Heh. I guess this'll make for an interesting story for Satsu. Nah. Better not, he'll just blab and people will think I'm crazy." he muttered to himself as he saved the file and folded the laptop down.

He finished his breakfast and hurried off to his boss' office, to show her the work he'd done and get his paycheck.

"So you got these from some kind of beast in the woods? Or did you get them from Satsu when you two were beating on one another?" Akiko Suzuhara wondered, quirking an eyebrow as she studied her researcher.

Adrian didn't even crack a smile as he stared at her. Hell, the unusual thing was he didn't have a quick comeback for it. Instead he just stared at her wordlessly. Akiko was worried at this point. Had he found something solid? If he had, she'd have to take great care that very few found out. She was, herself, a spirit of the Kamikonjou, a friend of her researcher's grandmother, though she would never admit it to him. She read over the information silently, her eyes widening as she read the detailed fight with the Lycanthrope, and the details on the spells he'd entered into the computer.

"Where did you get this!? This is amazing! Adrian, you might have found physical proof that spirits exist!" she said. "We just have to find a way to bring it to the attention of the government. But leave that to me. I'll deal with everything, you just go rest. I'll bring your check by tonight!"

Shrugging he folded the laptop down and tucked it under his arm. He turned and walked out of the office, ignoring her stare as he went, unaware of what her plans were. But he didn't care. He had her in his pocket now. If she wanted more from him she would have to ask him for it directly. He was the only one that knew where his copy of the notes were hidden, in cyberspace, and could get them with a few commands. If anyone tried to take them he had them secured. They could be burned and he would have the only set left. That might, actually, be a very good idea.
