Classes couldn’t move fast enough and at the end of the day, the final bell finally rang dismissing yet another day at school. After getting my bags and such together, I make my way to the high school’s dojo where the Martial Arts club practiced during the evening. During the initial sign ups, Ijin had signed up for the club with me and Hotaka had opted out, desiring his evenings to be free of obligations. Competitive by nature the Martial Arts club helped me to relieve some steam while training my body in fighting.

I make it to the square traditional style dojo with my school bag held in my right hand behind my shoulder. Inside I could hear a few people saying their greetings, meeting up and getting ready for practice. As I enter into the dojo, I bow on arrival and say hi to a few of the members before making my way to the locker room to dress up for practice. Making it to the boy’s locker room, I walk to my locker and open it, setting my school bag inside. Sitting on the bench that runs between lockers, I then begin to take off my shoes.

The bell rings and I being to gather my things. One of the other girls in class asks if I want to go to the mall with a group of them. I shake my head no and tell them some other time. I stand up and make my way through the school’s hallways till I come across the dojo. I pop my head into the room and look around. Two guys where dress in they’re martial arts stuff that I can’t remember that they are called. “Hey is Seiki here?” One nods and tells me he is in the locker room. I sigh and walk into the room to sit down. After a few moments of looking at the plan room I pull a magazine from my bag and start reading it.

For some very strange reason, the young man could hear his name being repeated over and over. Each time it repeated, it got louder and lou- "Lydeck!". The boy's attention snapped to, and his posture immediately straightened from it's once slouched position. What was going on? Oh, he had fallen asleep. "Sleeping in class ... " The teacher murdered, shaking her head. "You should work on that." She said, before turning and walking back to her desk. Lydeck rubbed his eyes. What, she's not going to punish him? This thought was immediately followed by the realization that he was the only one sitting in the classroom. Class had already been dismissed!

Cursing under his breath, Lydeck gathered up his belongings and headed for the exit, "Heh. Sorry about that." He manged to say before leaving. He casually began to walk down the hallway, taking not of any particularly good looking female students he happened to walk by. High School truly was a great place. He stopped once he reached his destination: the dojo. Him and Seiki and signed up for the martial arts club, and today was their first meeting. Lydeck was hopeful that he would get to get in a few bouts on the first day, but he wasn't sure how all that went.

He immediately made his way towards the mens room so that he could change. As he walked towards there, he noticed that that girl, Natsuki, was waiting around here for some reason ... most likely Seiki. On the off chance that she had saw him, he simply nodded in her direction. As he enetered the locker room, he saw Seiki as he walked up. "Hey, bro ... ready to show these scrubs how to bout?" He said, confident as always.

My eyes look up over the magazine when I notice someone new coming in. Seeing Lydeck nod I return the greeting with a slight wave before my attention goes back to the magazine. “There has to be something in here I can cook…” I murmur to myself as I flip the page. Pausing for a moment, I was getting the odd feeling that I was forgetting something but I couldn’t remember what. I spent most of the day in the home economics room cooking with Senpai. She didn’t act like she was too happy about be skipping all my other classes and taking the room over for my personal kitchen for the day. And there was the large crowd looking in through the doorway going, “Kuga is cooking!” and I did throw a pan at that guy that asked if I was going to burn the building down. But Senpai did help me out and we did clean up when we were done… So what could it be… After I moment I shrug to myself, and my attention returns to the magazine.

In the Home Economics room, a middle-aged woman is tried to a chair. Her face is a green color and she seems to be pasted out. A little blinking arrow with the word ‘Teacher’, popes up over her head. “agg, place stop making me eat it… I’ll give you an A this time…”

As other members of the club enter, a few recognize Natsuki from earlier and softly whisper confirming whether it was really her or not with one another. No one really wanted to irritate her after what happened to that one guy with the pan. Hopefully the bruise would go down before school pictures time.

By the time of Lydeck’s arrival into the locker room, I am half way dressed and ready for practice. I glance up to notice his entry as I fold in the flaps of my training uniform and then tying the belt about my waist. “Yo,” I casually greet him back, “always. I wonder if they’re going to pair us up together again since no one likes to spar with us.” There is a wide cocky smile with the comment, but it was partially true. I was pretty strong and Lydeck was a lose cannon and seemed always ready to fight; but it was that part about him that made him fun to hang around with during practice. Another male enters in my words to Lydeck and moves to his locker with a greeting nod to the both of us before sociably saying, “hi… you guys ready to work on guarding today?” 205

Ugh, he always hated putting this stuff on. While the clothing was comfortable, he wasn't fond of having the change clothes. It took so much ... effort, year that's it. After cursing himself for being so lazy, he finally finished changing into his martial arts uniform while talking with Seiki. "Oh, you know they will." He responded, referring to if they would pair the duo together again. "It's not like any of them ever want to fight us ... " He claimed, smiling. "Though, I think a tag-team match would be pretty entertaining - for us anyway" He let out a light chuckle until his attention was broken by another person asking if they were ready to work on guarding today. "Sounds good ... though, I prefer attacking over guarding. I think the others may find more value in it, since they seem to be under constant barrage from Seiki and myself when they choose to spar with us." He said confidently.

All dressed and ready, my attention shifts to the conversation as I wait for Lydeck to finish with his things and respond to the male. Blunt as ever, he gives his opinion, holding no punches in what he says confidently. With a soft smile, I chuckle, “yeah, something like that.” Though I was competitive and liked to fight, I didn’t like crushing the hopes of my teammates. I didn’t want them to give up and not train anymore, since if they could train and give me a challenge, it would make things much more fun for me. Speaking too, I agree, “all aspects are important. I guess a change every once and a while isn’t bad.” The male smiles sheepishly and begins to change as he says, “I see” obviously intimidated by Lydeck. Speaking to the male, I cheer, “well do your best, I’m heading out.” I make my way out to the main dojo, exiting the locker room area. The president had not started the lining up just yet so people were stretching and such on their own. Coming to the dojo floor, I bow and begin to step on it before I realize that Natsuki had come. With my attention to her, I walk over towards her and stand casually as I greet, “hey, Natsuki-chan. Came to join?” The last part is a bit of a joke since I had never heard her mention that she liked the martial arts before. 243

Flipping through the magazine, I glance up for a moment when I hear whisper and find that there are a few guys looking over at me. Boys are so weird, they act like no one has ever come in here to sit and wait on someone before. I look back at the magazine, “Oh cheese cake! That looks really good… I wonder if I could make that.” I go on reading my magazine.

A few minutes later I hear Seiki’s voice. The magazine is quickly shoved behind my back. “Hmm, no, no, no, I’m not to key on doing physical exercises anymore.” I give him an uneasy smile. “Hmm I just thought I would come watch you practice and then….” My face gets start to get a little red. “Hmm I thought you could… hmm come over and I… could make us something to eat or something like that.” There is a short pause, “If you want to anyway.” Man I feel like such an idiot. I should have just went shopping.

I continue to speak with Natsuki as I wait for Lydeck, so that we could stretch together and such. Behind me, the members of the martial arts club continue to stretch as the captain speaks with the co captain about an up coming competition. I knew that Lydeck and myself would be in the front-runners to represent our school in it, so I wasn’t too worried about trying to show off to get attention; I just hoped that our opponents would be strong. My head tilts to the magazine but it is shoved behind her back. At first I wonder if something was up, but her easy smile puts me at ease as she begins to speak. Something to eat after practice sounded great. I knew that she could cook well because of the professional cookies she made that night during the study date, but come to think of it, that was the only dish I had tasted from Natsuki. With an honest nod, I smile, standing casually, “cool, that sounds good.” There is a small pump of my arm as I assure, “I’ll be sure to work up an appetite today!” I hoped that she would not get to bored watching us do normal exercises and practicing; I knew it wasn’t the most fun thing to do, but if she brought a magazine with her, then she would have a back up form of amusement. I confirm, “are you sure you’re okay just waiting around for me until the end of practice?” 253

Gah, what the hell. It was strange, each time he tried to finish tying his belt, it kept coming undone. Well, he never was very good at typing things such as a belt - but eventually he got it on. Wow, embarrassing to say the least. Lydeck made his way out into the dojo and examined the area. Several members were sitting around the room talking about the daily event that had occurred throughout the day. There was actually a rather decent amount of outsiders here to spectate on the happenings of practice. He assumed that they were there to watch the practice bouts, if there were anyway. Seiki and himself were always victorious in those situations; so he was hopeful that it would happen.

His attention was caught by Seiki walking over to talk to Natsuki, who had made residence in the stands. With a light jog, Lydeck made his way over to the pair. He entered the area right in time to hear Natuski ask him if he'd come over to eat something that she will have prepared after practice. Being polite and not saying no to the pretty girl, Seiki agreed. Seeing this as a prime opportunity to make a snide remark, Lydeck appeared out from behind Seiki. "From what I hear, you'd be a brave man to eat something she prepares ..." Lydeck said in a grim, albiet sarcastic tone. He did had his usual smile on his face, but he added to his comment to avoid from evoking Natsuki's rage that he had heard so much about. "Of course I'm only kidding. How are you, Natsuki? Eager to watch Seiki and myself show these chumps up?" He said confidently, motioning towards the others. He wanted to be friendly with whoever was close friends with Seiki, as they made quite the duo in this class.

“Really?” My face lights up when Seiki says he’ll come over. I nod my head as I answer his question. “Yeah it’s fine I really don’t mind waiting. Its not like I have anything better to do.” I then look at Lydeck when he pops out from behind Seiki. My eye twitches and I start grab the magazine behind my back as it is the closest thing I know of that I could throw at him. But he quickly says he is just kidding and I give a slight laugh. “Yep, I’ll be cheering you guys on so go kick some ass. And show them how it is done!” I pump my arms up into the air one at a time like a cheerleader wound when cheering. I didn’t know a thing about martial arts but I did like a good Jacky Chan movie. I wonder if they’ll do any cool moves like he does. Now that would make thing interesting to set here and watch.

The remark by Lydeck catches my attention as I turn to him with his approach from behind. It went against what my perception of her cooking. Of course, I had never been around when she had messed up anything, so it was my understanding that she was a wonderful cook. I knew, of course, that my cohort was simply teasing my friend girl. I was, in fact, looking forward to going with her and eating after working up an appetite. As for beating up on the chumps, I sheepishly scratch the back of my neck and remind my friend, “well, they are our teammates…” When we were outsiders, it was more acceptable to pick on them and beat them up, but now that we were in the group, I felt that as a strong person, I needed to help them become stronger as well. Turning back to Natuski, I nod and assure that we would kick much ass, even if it were each others. Hopefully we would be able to spare so it wouldn’t be all training. From behind, the captain slaps his hands several times and attempts to get everyone’s attention. “Line up,” is called by the captain and vice captain as the members of the club begin to line up in rows and columns in order to begin the warm-ups for practice. Turning around, my attention is grabbed. Turning back to Natuski, I inform, “okay, I’m going then.” From there, I make my way to the main ‘mat’ of the dojo and file in line with the others to begin warm up in unison as a group. 269

As Seiki and Natsuki were engaging in conversation, Lydeck's attention as caught by a rather stunning looking women who was also sitting to watch the martial arts practice, by chance. Whilist he was oggling the young lady, he winked at her as she looked down at him. He was unable to continue with his shenanigans, as the whistle blew for everything to being. The captain ordered them to line up immediately. Sighing, and cursing under his breath, Lydeck turned his attention back to Natsuki. "Prepare to be amazed." He said sarcastically as he turned around and kept pace with Seiki. Lining up, Lydeck sighed. He wasn't a big fan of the pre-practice ... he just wanted to get into the sparring.

I give Seiki a nod when he tells me he is going after the team Captains call of a line up like the do in the movies. I then look to Lydeck when he speaks to me before joining the line up. “Wow they are really into this…” I really didn’t see what could be so fun about kicking and punching. Someone pulling on the sleeve of my shirt draws my attention away from line up. I turn around to see it that is the girl Lydeck was winking at, who wore a uniform of a first year student. She points at him and whispers, “Who is that cute guy?” I look at Lydeck for a moment then turn back to her. “Hmm that guy…you better stay away from that guy. He one of those stacker weirdo’s that likes to pipe into windows and steal girls panties out of the locker room. He is always saying me out but doesn’t understand what no is.” She makes a funny face. “That is sick. What about that other guy that was talking you?” I look over at Seiki, “It is gayer then Elton John.” I nod my head as she sits back in shock. “Yeah, welcome to high school. There isn’t anything quiet like it so enjoy it while you can.” I turn back around and snicker to myself for a moment. I guess I shouldn’t have done that but I just couldn’t help it. I cover my mouth as I tried not to laugh.

After making my way away from Natsuki and falling into line with the others in the center of the dojo, I participate as we go into the routines of the warm ups exercises before the other portions of practice would start. These warm-ups consist of more advanced stretching that is performed in unison along with generic front kicks, side kicks and back kicks as well as straight punches and knife hand strikes. Performing several repetitions of these actions take around thirty minutes of the session. After those are completed, the class is lined up at one side of the room. One person travels the length of the dojo with the next person behind them following in the four lines set up as we practice short range running from one side of the room to the other with subsequent laps replacing jogging with jumps and tumbling including front flips, back flips and butterfly jumps. After these exercises are done, it concludes the warm up session and grappling and lock breaking practice begins the class instructed to split up in groups of into two. Finding Ijin, I look for eye to eye contact as I motion for him and me to be partners in this exercise, seeing if he would approve and not wish to pick on any of the other weaker members since practice was supposed to help you gain something. As I approach is side, I speak out, “how about me and you for this? Just like the other times, I guess.” 252

Lydeck sighed as they went through their redundant and irritating stretches. He knew that stretches were needed to prevent any injuries, but they were probably the worst part of every practice. His eyes floated up to the seats where that attractive female was. He noticed her leaning over and saying something to Natsuki, and her response caused the girl to cover he mouth in surprise - and then look up at me. "That bitch ..." Lydeck murdered to himself, slightly laughing. He knew what she had just done. A funny gal, huh? His thoughts subsided as the whistle blew and they were set to spar. Lydeck looked over at Seiki, who was wanting the two to spar since they were relatively on each others levels. With Seiki asking if they would, Lydeck confirmed that it would be a good idea. "Yeah, let's do that." He said, nodding. He did a last stretch of his arms, and grinned as he looked at his companion, "Ladies first." He said with a grin, only kidding of course.

My offer is confirmed and I nod with a “cool” in response; a short smirk and a roll of the eyes accompany the comment of ladies first. In the back of my mind, I was wondering if Natsuki were really comfortable waiting all this time. Practice normally ran around an hour, but if we were busy sparring, it could easily run into an hour and a half. There wasn’t much to do on the sidelines other than watch us leap around and do stuff. It would be more fun if it were more like an action movie rather than a organized class, but maybe something like that could be organized when it came time for the school festival. My gaze shifts only for a moment to Natsuki as I look to her to gauge how she is before it returns back to Lydeck as I begin. Practice like this was simple and something we had gone over several times before. The basics of breaking a hold were to use your opponent’s weaknesses against them. For example, when an aggressor reaches for a person’s wrist, there hand must curl around it. Where the thumb meets with the other fingers is the weak point. By extending all of your fingers, your thumb tendon makes an ‘edge’ that can be used to break this weak point, thus freeing your hand and allowing you to either attack or distance yourself from an opponent. Advance cases of this contain a countering of a lock that in turn locks your opponent; but things of this nature, Lydeck and myself were already well adapted to. Since I were to go first, I stand casually and give him a nod assuring, “okay, I’m ready.” Going first, I would allow him to grab me, and then attempt to break the grab and then switch to where I grab him and he breaks out of it. 316

Ooc: Sure, I’m not looking to get you into a lock that cannot be broken or rush you and beat you down. I really just want to work towards “Skilled Guard” for my Physical Melee package, so I figure we can do the basic grab counter techniques and probably progress into a spar back and forth; that sound good? I’ll keep my posts shortish, around 250 words each. If you want to fast forward, we can always do that as well; anything’s fine with me.

Lydeck's gaze had once again turned to the girl in the stands. His irritation with what Natsuki had said to her had subsided, and Lydeck found himself thinking of the many type of "submission locks" that he could teach the unknown girl. Wiping the stupid looking grin off of his face, Lydeck smirked as Seiki readied himself. It wasn't going to be anything too heavy right now; just enough to get warmed up and review basic manuevers. Going forward, Lydeck gracefully and quickly performed a basic submission lock behiind Seiki, who would not doubt break it rather easy. Good stuff.

The smirk comes and after that the basic maneuver is rendered as Lydeck slides behind me and puts me into one of the more basic of locks where I find my body bound from behind. By this time, the other members would be getting into it as well, some performing them well with others moving a little bit more awkwardly. Normally against anyone else, I would be able to break the lock easily, but then again, Lydeck could probably get me into a tricky lock if he felt like it. I wanted to move through the motions quickly so we could get to the fun stuff, so I wouldn’t provoke a competition of locks with Lydeck this day. Moving smoothly and deliberately to focus on the technique of the break, I move through the act of breaking the lock with a mock strike to the side of the head with the back of my elbow that softly comes close to the side of his face, but does not connect. At the same time, I twist my wrist myself to move from the lock as my balancing foot pivots turning my body so that it faces towards him. After the redirection then pause and reset after the lock had been broken in order to return the favor. In starting off, I’m basically stepping forwards and grabbing both of his wrists with one hand each holding them down and in place waiting for whenever he was ready for him to snap out of the lock anyway he so chose.

After practice I meet up with Natsuki.
