Statues Empty
PostSubject: Statues   Statues EmptySun May 03, 2009 4:41 pm

_____The night was frosty and brisk... or rather, it was the dead of night. The spirit that whisked off in fox form over the buildings and trees of the huge Saicity usually conducted business around this hour... 3 AM that is, but this certainly was an unusual location for her to be doing such things. Everywhere her eyes fell, richness and opulence greeted her. She found it difficult to believe that the Lower Commons and this area she was in existed in the same world... then again, the landscape was elevated and closer to her native heaven. From atop any one of the mansions that littered the area, she could see for miles and miles over the city. There was a large spiritual barrier to the southwest that she'd had to circumvent to get here... an annoyance for sure, as it lengthened her journey by quite a few hours. She qas happy to have gotten here before daybreak, however, and the nights were longer due to the season
_____The houses had plenty of yardspace where statues reflecting the personal tastes of the families and owners stood guard. Many of these statues had glowing, seeming solar powered charms attached to them. Two dragons over a fountain in one yard upheld a shining blue crystal... the mouths of their neighbor's lions had glowing red sensors in the eyes and turrets pointed ominously towards her directions and, once when she flew over too close, fiercely firing flaming shots of yellow... another yard had a visible barrier like the one over City Metro, upheld by fiber optic angels. All in all, the place seemed very unwelcoming of her ilk, but that was okay. This place could go fuck itself, Grunty came to this pit of greed for one thing and one thing only.
_____True to form, there was a house precisely where the midget Moskau said it was going to be earlier. Unlike the other mansions, its bricks were gray and its roofs were black. The spirals brought to mind the sort of place a dragon might keep a mythical princess locked up for extended periods of time. The stained glass over the main enterance was very retro, and upon closer inspection, worn like the rest of the house. The building seemed older than all the others... less well kept. No cars seemed to be anywhere, despite the lack of a garage, and everything else about the house seemed to indicate it as a very nice, abandoned building. Very creepy.
_____Nontheless, the fox trotted a wide circle around the building, not creeped out by the aura, but instead by the barriers she'd seen earlier. They could possibly be trouble. The only thing that looked like it might be a problem, however, were two statues standing over the driveway. They weren't medieval european style or even Japanese... appearing instead as two very realisticly detailed nazi police hounds. Nothing about the statues stuck out, though, and they didn't seem to have any turrets or barriers attached to them, thus, the vixen continued to the front door.
_____In a matter of moments, however, she felt a prescence behind her, even though she didn't hear anything per se. Ducking instinctively, she found the two statues, or rather, spirits shaped like the two statues go flying overhead, teeth opened and prepared to clamp down like twin steel traps. Since she'd ducked, however, they simply smacked into each other in the most clumsy way imaginable and lay in a heap before the fox. "Eh... I guess you two are Gerbil and Gary..."
_____The two dogs, one white and one a more traditional German Shepard color and pattern, stood to their feet and growled in unison. "My name's Goerrbels, fox bitch."
_____The other dog, his fraternal twin or otherwise littermate from his behavior and appearances, chimed in, "And I'm Goering."
_____"Who told you our names?" the last returned with menace and hatred in his canine voice.
_____"Your master, Moskau. She said I should greet you with Sighell or something."
_____The two dogs stopped growling at the same time and sat up, seeming very confused for the moment and looking at each other in confusion, before looking back at her. Goering spoke first, "Ummm... master Moskau?"
_____"We took him for dead..."
_____"It's why we've been guarding his house you see... he's the last of his line..."
_____"We're waiting for the day he decides to settle down."
_____"Yes! Then the family can return to its former glory and wealth..."
_____"...and this house will be here waiting for him..."
_____"...as it's waited for all those who came before him..."
_____"...for hundreds of years."
_____"Touching really..." Grunty interrupted, "...but I guess she likes you two and want you to leave the house. She asked specifically for me to deliver you two to her..."
_____Once again, the dogs threw a befuddled look and conferenced with themselves. The conversation seemed hushed and hurried, concern about their ability to protect anything or something like that.
_____Eventually they turned around and barked in unison, "Ma'am, we can't protect Iveta if we leave this property."
_____The vixen blinked a couple of times, "What? Why?"
_____The white one, Goering, lowered his muzzle beneath his paw, signaling either submission or embarassment. "We're cursed dogs... at least that's what we've been told. For some reason we can't seem to affect anything outside of this property."
_____"We're bound here you see..." the other one grumbled grouchily, looking defiantly up at the cloudy dark sky. "...so it would be unreasonable for young master to ask us to leave."
_____Grunty sighed and rolled her eyes. Someone else for her to take under her wing. "Hey, wait here for a second, would ya, Brothers? Ah, I guess you don't have that much of a choice..."

_____Thus the vixen set off again, over the river and through the woods... or rather, around the barrier and through the city until she came to a closed meat market. It was a simple matter for her to take the biggest, reddest, tastiest steak in the entire store from it's meat hook in the refrigerator and transport it over her previous path to the two boy dogs. Throwing it before them, she barked, "Eat it."
_____The dogs had never seen meat before and thus had to inspect it, walking circles around and sniffing it. The smell was good, she knew it was to carnivorous spirits such as they, but when they ducked down to eat it, their ghostly maws went right through the cowflesh. Grunty sighed and sat back on her haunches, deciding this would take awhile. Unfortunately, it was 5 AM by now, and soon the sun would be up, people would be up and about, and the police that invariably live in nice ends of town like this would find her, but she was patient. They had plenty of time, and the academic district was marginally closer than the Lower Commons from here anyways.
_____A matter of time later, however, and seeming at the same time, the dogs were eating the meat. Record time too, which was quite surprising. They must have good discipline or must have been extremely hungry. Either way, Grunty looked out towards the horizon. "Hey, guys... umm... yea... when you finish that, follow me out of here. Now that you can effect things on this plane, it's important that you don't get caught by the popo or anything. This place is no longer safe for you."
_____With those final words, she turned and trotted resolutely off towards the Academic District. The two German Shepards looked at each other, shreds of meat hanging from their mouths. "Hey!" cried Goerbbels. "Wait up!" shouted Goering, and together, they pulled the big chunk of meat after the retreating form of the black vixen.
