Careless Whisper (Kudo)

Subject: Careless Whisper (Kudo) Sat Sep 19, 2009 4:56 pm

The oni flipped backwards from his position, narrowly escaping the poison that splashed into the ground, something that would have been disastrous considering it ate away at the grass that it came into contact with. The eyes of the demon narrowed upon the giant snake of the clearing, having returned here to this spot to reclaim it from the other. He wasn't unuse to those types of attacks, nor was it too difficult to evade such things, but his last encounter with the serpent oni had been a near-death one. This was, of course, before he had become more in tune with his flames. Coming to land on the ground, he thrusted a palm outwards in front of him, "Infernal flames!" Shou cried out, his body suddenly flaring outwards with fire, dark crimson flames that licked and lashed at the air around him. Upon the ground, red rings began to form, originating from the aura that surrounded him now.
The snake hissed, its slitted eyes looking to this new development. Shou snickered lightly, as it couldn't have possibly guessed how much more powerful he had become. "Burn it all!" The demon finished its chant. From the rings that had formed on the ground, flames ignited upwards, fire that seemed to come from the depths of hell themselves, that same dark crimson color. They engulfed the lower half of the giant snake, though its large size allowed it to tower over the main damage of it. The rest of it, however, was doomed to Shou's technique of Hell's Echoes. It ate away at the thing's body, its hissing screech deafened by the roar of the fire. It fell within the carnage and once it had been burnt to the crisp Shou would have been satisfied with, the flames ceased to be.
Stepping forward towards the body, the oni kicked at it lightly, his foot breaking through the roasted and crispy scaling of the dead thing. Shou grinned, turning away and looking out over the clearing that he had come to reclaim. The giant sword was still stabbed into the ground in the middle, though the blade held little importance to him now. The spot was to become the new plantation, after all.

There, in the clearing ahead, was an incredibly large wolf, hidden by the tremendous
trees that was in the area. It was about the size of a horse, with a powerful
head and a broad, tapering muzzle. Its fur was a magnificent tawny-gold with tinges of black on the neck and the back, and it had white streaks that curved around its eyes and onto its forehead. The art was amazing; it looked as if they had been painted there. And clamped in its huge jaws was a bull. The giant growled and grunted as it struggled to drag its catch across the ground. Then suddenly it froze and looked up, ears perks. Its nostrils flared as it lifted its nose to the wind, and the rippling fur along its spine began to quiver. He heard the voice of another, and dropped the animal from its jaws. He presses forward, only to see the remains of a destroyed snake. Snarling, he continues moving forward, not knowing the beast, however assuming that this said beast was weak. A figure slips into vision, “This is where the voice came from” It was the voice that he had picked up on. Without hesitation, he continued walking, his taste for bull had subsided, in this forest there were a plethora of meals, and a bull was at the bottom, this wolf may have been huge, however he was new. He could come to a complete halt about 20 feet away from the oni, and then without further hesitation, he moves towards the male, his body tenses, the hair on his body standing as he passed the demon. He continued walking, only to come to a stop once more, allowing his skull to tilt towards the right, looking back at the said person. He let out a huff, and ones head would only turn in the direction to continue walking once more.

The demon tossed a glance over his shoulder as he noticed the passing of the giant wolf. Seeing such a spirit was something of a sight to him, with the exotic designs decorated on its golden fur, he hadn't supposed he'd seen a wolf-based oni either. That wasn't including the spirit that resided within the Woylf, Lance, though, but that grotesque cross between human and animal wouldn't have compared. It didn't seem the other was hostile, though, as it passed without any such incident. In his earlier days, the lion would have been threatened territorially and would have attacked the other spirit on sight, though Shou was much more rational these days.
However, it had been his interest in slaying demons for some time now. "Infernal flames, gather and rise." The oni chanted, a firewall coming to ignite into existance before the wolf's path halting its progress away from the area. A flame exploded into being around his fist as Shou turned towards the thing and advanced.

His figure would come to a stop, as the temperature
increased dramatically in-front of him; a fire wall stopping his advance. One
would only do the logical thing and turn around towards the oncoming person, he
didn't find this person as a threat, and however, he didn't believe that this
person would indeed be safe; after all they were in a place known as the deep.
He moves just a few feet from the other male, "Is there a reason for the obstacle
you have set in my path?" The wolf asked commandingly, although this wolf
could clearly be weaker than this said demon, he did not allow his pride to
sink with his strength. His eyes did not seem o leave the other as he approached the wolf. He yawned, his razor sharp teeth seeming to expand. His fur was no longer standing , and was actually relaxed. This was in no way however due to the male being in human form.

The demon tilted his head back a little to eye the other a little differently. Usually the common spirit would have felt threatened by this point and would have begun to defend itself for its life. Then again, the wolf didn't come off as the common spirit. "You reside within this forest. And I take pleasure in killing things." Shou offered, a smirk crossing his expression. As much as his impulses told him to strike at that point and engage in that dance known as battle, simply taking part in a conversation wasn't beneath him just yet. His steps had come to a halt, but his fist continued to flare with his magixal ability.

The other male would slowly make its way towards him, he
could sense the danger as it grew with each step the other took. This only
caused the excitement in him to grow; the excitement did not end with the
situation becoming more dire, his mouth opened, there seemed to be a smirk on
the face of the wolf, a grin of some sort, “My underlings of chaos, I shatter your
slumber, and call you forth”. He said, with a spit, the saliva hitting a space
on the ground. The spit soared through the air, surprisingly the spit shifted
from a clear color to a dark, purple color, it gave an impish feeling as it
tore through the ground, and caused a monkey, about half the size of the oni,
his shadow extended towards the hole in the ground, and the monkey stretched
from the wolf, this had been the wolf favorite ability, the monkey was agile,
and caused a distraction to most fighters, it created tremendous possibilities in
the wolves fighting ability. Although these actions were performed, fighting was only a last resort, the wolf noticed this oni's power, and it was interesting, interesting enough to cause this wolf to learn more about him, a dominant force, he would want to be stronger, however not an idiot, he did not want to press into matters that would prove to be troublesome. ". . . You're a strange one, your scent, you smell different, not that of the form you take, but something else, cannibalistic.., it rivals mine".

The appearance of the wolf's summon caused that smirk on the oni's face to spread out into a grin. Good, this was the expected response of the spirits that lived within the forest, that self-defense that he had wished to see. The oni extended his other hand outwards and this too ignited with a surrounding flame, a chuckle escaping the man's lips. "You would call us rivals? Good, then. Don't dissapoint..! Infernal flames!" The oni shouted, the grin vanishing, his brow furrowing as he focused his magixal energies. "Sharpen and strike!" A flame appeared before Shou then, its raging state coming to form the solid shape of a scimitar composed of his element. Thrusting his arm outward in front of him, the blade came to point to the wolf's familiar before shooting outwards towards it.

The large wolf orbs seem to widen with anticipation, the lust
for a good fight filled him with an amazing amount of anxiousness. It causes
the fur on his back to quiver, the chaotic familiar quivered along with its summoner.
The wolfs claws sunk into the earth, as
the same energy that seemed to have summon the familiar began to cover his
body, the wolf smirked, moving the familiar in front of him to allow the attack
slam into the familiar. The familiar dissipated instantly, causing a small
explosion sending the wolf back towards a tree. There was a pandemonium; large
roars could be heard, shaking the leaves that were in the tree above him. The
smoke started to clear. The figure changed, his skin a soft milk color, ones
eyes instantly closing in on the other male, his onyx locks dancing along his
forehead. On his back lie white buttoned down uniform like shirt, and followed
by a matching colored pants and shoes. “ aAalri. . . “His voice was raspy, once
could tell that this was his first transformation. “ Alright, I’ll have to
admit, I was not expecting that, but this is great...” His palms were facing
his face while he began to chant once more “Demonic tools come to my calling,
give me your power!” He roared, as another familiar tore out of his back, as if
energy was directly from the abyss. It was dark colored and purple; it mimicked
the snake that was earlier killed, it game him a tail, if one only knew the
possibilities that swam around his head.” (The Ascenscion quest reached..)

The attack seemed to work nicely against the man's familiar, taking out the monkey rather easily with just the one technique. A small explosion occured in the midst of it, though, and shrouded his vision of the other. When it did return, he noticed the change in the spirit that he was fighting. "Oh?" His tone showed interest, that smirk returning to his face as he had to allow himself to be a little impressed in the enemy to assume a human shape. That meant he wasn't a lower order spirit but hopefully something of a formidable opponent.
At the arrival of the man's second familiar, one of Shou's eyebrows arched at its appearance, bearing a striking resemblance to the dead carcass of the snake that was only so many steps from his feet even now. "Heheh.. infernal flames, swirl and contain!" The familiar attached to the man's back would hold little importance to him as fire danced around the other demon's feet before shooting upwards, as they would come to spin violently to create a vortex of flame around the wolf oni.

He was still getting use to this said body of his, this tail was
going to serve useful he said to himself, as soon as the opponent smirk
appeared, his guard was up, his gaze locked with the other demon, the tail
slamming into the earth. Around his feet it began heat up, instantly, his tail
slammed into the ground, catapulting him into the air towards a branch. Ones
feet would hit the branch briefly, before shooting from it, landing about five
feet from the fellow oni, his tail smashed into the ground, rapidly, causing
the earth around the tail to soften, he was up to something, slowly bending
down, he grabs some of the soil, and then smirks “ You’re much stronger than I
expected. “ His shoes were tarnished, and the bottom of his pants were burned “What
do you expect out of this?” He said, molding the earth between his fingers.

His crimson eyes darted around, following the man's movements from the spot he stood on to the branch then to the earth once more. The movements were quick and from what judgements that he could make, it seemed the other was about on the same level of speed as he himself. It was a worthy enough of an analyzation of a result from the technique he had just used, though the next actions confused him a little. Shou's eyes narrowed slightly, looking to the dirt in the other's hands. For one, such things weren't flammable. He couldn't help but chuckle lightly, a little surprised at how resourceful this man could be.. though he couldn't be sure of what purpose it would serve in this fight, especially with the intensity of his flames. There wasn't enough earth within the man's grasp to stop his magic.
"Such things don't interest me." The oni would come to say, grin in place. "That form.. you're new to it, aren't you?" Shou asked, recalling the man's initial transformation in the fight and how he had come into it rather clumsily, tripping over words even. "You'll need practice, of course.. that's assuming you come out of this alive." The distance between them wasn't appropriate enough, but the demon suddenly took the steps forward that would bring him closer. "Temperatures, arise and roast those before me!" Shou shouted, thrusting both hands out in front of him as a blast of energy emitted from his palms. They took on a stranger form than a normal energy shockwave, though, the air it occupied taking on a hazy mirage effect, his favored heatblast technique.

“Practice yes, however I have a natural instinct for fighting”.
His smirk grew abnormally large, while his opponent started his chanting, the
ground was soft enough, the tail slipped into the earth as easy as a hot knife
through butter. “Let’s see!” He said, while jumping backwards, the tail
extends, lifting a gigantic piece of earth, and flung it towards the heat wave.
Inugami did not however expect this to stop anything, “Dismiss you snake from
hell, and come forth mole from the pits of the deep forest!” he said while
rolling into the deep dent the move left on the earth. The instant his back hit
the soft earth, the mole went to work, burying instantly into the ground;
Inugami instantly curled up, making the trip easy. He shot up from the ground,
he was a good ten feet from the oni, he lands; feet placing onto the ground, he
pushed against the earth, and runs towards the other oni, while dismissing the
familiar that was on his back. “Come forth…”

The blast would have destroyed the piece of earth that had been flung at him, grass and dirt flying apart in the technique's wake. It didn't serve much as a useful blocking tool, though at this point Shou could see that it hadn't been the man's purpose, noting the disappearance into the well-sized hole he had created with his tail. The demon took a precautionary step backwards, on guard that the man might have resubmerged just before him. When the other demon had, though, Shou took comfort in the fact that there was still some space between the two of them. All ready, though, the wolf oni charged and began a chant. The demon couldn't help but chuckle at how difficult this battle was starting to become, always enjoying the challenge.
Shou kicked away from the ground he stood upon, launching himself back and upwards into the air. As he neared the peak of his advancement of the jump, a disc of flame conjured beneath his feet to catch him in mid-air (Flight). "Infernal flames!" The demon commanded, an ever confident smirk in place as he kicked off the platform of flame and brought himself further higher into the air yet again, landing ontop of a newly formed disc. Within his hand a red orb had appeared, suddenly flaring out and gaining in size. "Gather and strike!" Shou shouted, throwing his arm forward along with the fyreball that erupted from his hold and shot downwards to the position the wolf oni would have entered in the next following moments should he had continued that charge.

“Release yourself, bat from hell!” The words projected
themselves from his lips, the wings of a large bat stretching out from his
shoulders. Instantly, his feet left the ground, the fireball would have hit him;
however, he had already planned on spouting these wings, and thus taking off
before he would collide with the blast. The blast would then cause a shockwave
of some sort, this is what he wanted; it rocketed him two times faster than his
speed would have been, he smirks, gliding through the air, as if a bat himself,
he ascends, higher, and then curls the wings around his body, allowing his
right foot to stretch outwards, towards the other oni, his falling attack would
hit hard, since he stopped the gliding, he was falling; his left leg bent,
ankle about at the right knee “ You and your damn fire attacks, they are
annoying!”.

The fyreball only seemed to aid the man in his push off from the ground, the blast that ensued giving a drastic gust of wind that seemed to aid the man's bat wings on his back to send him in Shou's directions at speeds the oni wouldn't have been able to keep up with, not at this point at least. The end of the wolf oni's foot would connect straight into his stomach, Shou's eyes snapping wide open from the impact of the hit. He forced himself not to allow such pain to slow his actions down as his arms suddenly clamped down on that limb, his fingers digging into the flesh for a certain grip. With the aid of the discs of fire beneath him, they began to levitate swiftly up in the air, Shou releasing the leg with one hand and allowing his grip to slide up to the other oni's ankle to allow this man to simply dangle within the air as he continued to ascend. A grin spread out across Shou's face, chuckling once more at what he had planned on doing.

The wolf was in a bad position
obviously, he was high in the air, and his opponent had him by his ankle, this
was a shitty position to be in, indeed. He frowned “You are pretty good at
these tricks, cut me a break, I just transformed into this form, you could at
least fight fair and stay on the floor”; he said, his digits crackling silently
as his arms began to rise. He then quickly outstretches both of his wings, and
they expand. He begins to push himself back and forth “Go ahead and drop me, I
doubt you have it in you, little oni”.

The discs of fire came to a halt beneath him as they came to be a great distance in the air, the very space that planes would occupy. Shou looked to the ground and then to the man within his grasp, chuckling lightly and not paying too much mind to his useless swaying. "That's true. You've only just ascended and you've caused me this much trouble." Those crimson eyes looked away from the man within his grasp, though his hold didn't slip as he didn't seem as if he would be dropping the other to die on the ground now. "But that shows promise.. don't you think? How about leaving these uneventful forests? There's a much funner world to be taking over, after all. Look there." He then nodded to where his attention had been, to the distant skyscrapers of the City Metro, and the several lesser buildings that would surround it; suburbs, slums, parks. The whole works. "Sai City."

He listened as the other Oni spoke
with him, it was a sign of promise, that if Inugami kept going as he was, he
would be much stronger at a much faster rate than most Onis, he had something they
didn’t have, and the was the heart, and mind of a wolf. He looked up to the
shorter of the two and began to lift himself up. With the ability to fly this
would not be a very difficult task for Inugami. “That city, I have never been
out of the forest before, it should be very interesting. Taking over something
with a different set of people. . .” He could tell this other oni was not
normal either, he had the instincts of a beast, territorial this could be good,
or this could go very bad, however what the oni said was true , these forest
are un eventful and it was about time they made their departure into what the
humes call “Sai City”. “I’m ready for it, taking over, destroying, and eating”.
He said, his orbs locking with the fiery optical that the other oni bore. “ By
the way, let go of my leg”.

The oni glanced to the other to see that his eyes had locked onto his own and snickered lightly before releasing his hold on the man's ankle. If he could manage flight this early, then he would be even more promising than Shou had originally declared. "You're definitely not ready for the takeover. Those humans, they're not so helpless. There are places where we can have our fun, though, but get too into it and the stronger ones will show."
The platform that the oni stood upon slowly began to descend towards the ground as he continued to speak, assuming the other would follow his downward approach. "This would be the first time I really let a demon walk from a battle alive out here in these forests.. you're lucky." He stated, blunt and clear. The oni wouldn't ask for any favors or a debt to repay siunce he didn't really expect something like a wolf spirit to honor such things; principles that only he, the lion, held important to himself.

The Wolf slowly descended with the
lion oni slowly as he lowered his gaze did not slip from him as he spoke to him
clearly. “You have won now, however I will not feel lucky, no matter what would
have happened, and I would not have been beaten until every ounce of energy had
left my body”. He said clearing his throat a bit to ensure his masculinity of
some sort, pride some may call it. “ I figure we cannot take over a large area
such as that, and assuming that we cause a disturbance in an area filled with
those beings, clearly it would be brewing for disaster, so as for having fun, I
suggest we keep moving up in the ranks of strength, for a cat you have some
power, dignity, and arrogance, however you do net let it hinder your judgment,
or change your actions, you’re unique, I suppose we can learn a large amount
from each other, as long as we agree to not fight among each other. If we do
form this pack then we shall only grow stronger, and larger” Escaped his lips
as his arm raised, allowing his slender digits to extend waiting to take the
redheads hand in his own in a sign of respect, and a trust attempt.

Shou chuckled lightly, "You know, for just having ascended you're pretty ambitious.. I guess that's the wolf in ya. Like me, you don't wanna be weak." The oni nodded at that, that sort of personality was perfect since it matched his own in a way. And if the man was like him then he should be able to grow just as quickly as he had. "My full name's Boruha Takashou, but most call me Shou." He would come to say, formally introducing himself as he took the man's hand in his own in that common gesture.

“Inugami Akibaya” He said whilst
shaking Shou hand. “It was weird to speak so formally or respectfully to a cat,
let alone ally one self with. However this was a time of change, and with
change many things has been discovered, hopefully traveling with the said Lion
would expand his abilities, and make him stronger that he would be if he was
alone, it had already started with the ability of flight, it started to show it
self, he grew with each fight he had with this male, Shou, the young looking
demon who pushed him to his limits, pushed him to the point of transformation,
to the point of learning new abilities in mid fight. His life would be great
after all; it would be nothing but strength from now on that was the only thing
a wolf could rely on besides his wisdom, his strength, to destroy anyone who
decided to oppose him. “Where to from here, Shou?”

The oni's crimson eyes averted away from the other and glanced in the direction of civilization, though several trees now obstructed that view. A grin spread across his lips as he gave his answer, "The city, of course. This dull forest doesn't suit us types.. just wait until you see what that place beholds." Shou took a couple of steps forward in that direction and glanced over his shoulder. "You can still fly, right?" The lion oni kicked off the ground, landing atop discs of fire. Assuming that the other's answer would be an affirmative, he came to run across the sky with platforms of flames bursting into existance under his steps, and ascending above the trees, a much quicker method to exit the forest than doing it landbound.
