Tyme in the Sand [V13] Empty
PostSubject: Tyme in the Sand [V13]   Tyme in the Sand [V13] EmptyMon Feb 08, 2010 5:14 am

This feral beast covered in tan brown fur is leaking blood and I growl at it standing between itself and two humans that have been wounded by the beast. The feline animal paces back and forth before it charges at me and I speak calmly, "Parī pan̄jē, haṛatāla!" Three crescent blades release from my right hand and charge at the beast. Upon contact, the blades of spiritual energy cut into his leg. Cutting my eyes at it, I prepare to move in for the kill when a sandstorm picks up in front of me. The beast retreats and I move to protect the two young humans. As the sandstorm starts to move towards the humans, I speak in the ancient tongue, "Tōṛa tūphāna!" The sandstorm dissipates and a middle aged woman who looks like a shaman is revealed and I look at her. The two humans cower behind me and peek out at her. She tells me to step aside and I smirk at her. "You interrupted my fight with the beast, tried to turn a sandstorm on me, and the kids don't seem to like you much. We have an issue here. Aśud'dhi sē śīlḍa!" A ring of sutra cards disperses from me and creates an anti-magic barrier around my position stretching out about 40 feet. More than enough space to protect the two humans. Small spears of earth form and fly at me and I shake my head as they disintegrate upon reaching the border of influence created by the Area Purification power. She looks at me and I speak, "Are you done yet? What is your business with these two?" She tells me that they are her property and that she will have them back. I stroke my chin and shake my head. "No you will not. Are they of equal value to your life, witch?" Her eyes fall on me again as my eyes glow with spiritual energy and I bare my fangs at her. She looks at the two servants, who I think are more slaves than servants, before she looks back at me.

Without even moving an inch, the beast is caught in mid-air and thrown over my head towards the sand witch (ha ha ha I make a funny). While he is in the air, my body begins to glow a faint gold as I invade the beast's mind in order to turn him against his master. Speaking to her, my words are somber and calm, "You have accepted my offer." Without warning, the beast slashes deep into her torso and pounces in for the attack. The sand is splattered with blood and I simply smile. Turning to the two teens, I tell them that it is time to go. They nod and we head towards the village of Hejar. I am rather quiet while we walk as something is bothering me, but in a good way. I not only knew that the beast was about to attack, but I sensed its approach to charge for the attack. I am not sure how I was able to do that, but I certainly want to know so that I can enhance those senses. Since I have been in this strange realm, my concept of time has been altered. I don't know if spirits are stronger in this realm, but my senses have been running wild, but I have to admit that it has been for the best.

The two teens lead me to a hideout area not too far from Hejar. They tell me that they have to check on their friend. I figure that I should accompany them to keep them safe. That and I don't know much about this Hejar Village, so having two locals there should be of great use to me. When we arrive at the destination, they lead me inside to find a strange looking creature that I have never seen before resting inside tending to wounds. When the beast catches scent of me, it must be able to tell that I am not human as it takes a very aggressive stance towards me. Speaking to it, I command, "Stand down, Desert Elemental. I know that you can understand me. If I wanted to kill you, it would be so. After all, you're already wounded." The creature takes a more "natural" form and the two teens are shocked as its natural form is a small twister of sand with a glowing orb of fire in the center. They look at me and I ask the Desert Elemental if he is sure that he wants to do this. By taking his natural form, he is basically challenging me to combat. My eyes start to glow and my aura is released to the elemental spirit and it is at this point that it realizes that fighting me in its current state would be suicide.

With that situation diffused, we all relax. The elemental takes its animal form again and lays back down. "What realm is this?" The elemental looks at me curiously and speaks, "This is Yochi, the Earth Realm. How did you get here? The winds say that the gates are still sealed." I look at the elemental with confusion at this point. "This is not Yochi. I came up to Yochi when I was given word of the disturbance in the Commons. Also, the gate to Koushi is guarded, but the gate to the underworld has been open for quite a few years now. If you believe it to be sealed, that would explain why I could not return home to my people. This makes no sense. How can this be Yochi and people live in villages? Where is Sai City?" The Desert Elemental looks at me intently and says, "You are not from here. You should not exist yet, should you? Kids, could you give us a moment?" The two teens nod and head into the "kitchen" and the boy starts to prepare food while the girl prepares new bandages.

Meanwhile back in the main room, the elemental tells me that nothing makes sense because I am in the right realm, but at the wrong time. It tells me that time has changed for me, but I cannot escape time. Great, a fricken wounded desert elemental speaking in riddles. What does any of that mean? A pain in my head causes me to see the boy's sash catch fire. "Boy, watch your sash. It hangs too close to the fire." He exclaims as he moves it right before it actually catches fire. The desert elemental eyes me curiously and I tell him that I just want to return home so that things make sense and where I have bloodwyne to deal with these blasted headaches. "How did you know that Tarin would nearly burn himself?" I look at him and shrug. "I don't know. My senses have been heightening since I've been here. I am able to react to things quicker and recently, I've been able to see things occur before they actually occur. It makes me think that I am getting the gift of sight back, but this feels different." The elemental chuckles faintly and shakes his head. "You have unlocked tyme magic, but how did you do it?" Slightly irritated at my own shortcoming in the matter, I respond rather sharply, "What part of I don't know was misunderstood the first time?! How would I develop tyme powers without any form of instruction or it being part of my blood heritage?" The desert elemental responds, "How do you know that it is not part of your blood heritage as you call it?" I remark to him that my parents did not control tyme as I have seen my father's powers and my mother never used them either in any of the memories that I saw. "If there is one thing that a desert understands it is time. Would you like to understand it more?" I respond, "At what cost?" The elemental tells me that I saved the teens that saved him. I shrug and tell him that weaklings should not be bullied for no reason. The elemental nods to me and before I can move sand surrounds us both.

My hands shield my eyes from the sands. When the sand lets up and I am able to see, I find myself in the midst of the desert. The elemental stands behind me and speaks, "How about we make this whole tyme magic thin make sense to you?" I nod to the desert spirit and he continues, "The ability that you unlocked today is known as Foresight. This power enables you to see moments into the future. The furthest time I have ever heard of by anyone or anything other than a true seer with the gift of sight is nearly a minute and a half into the future. Utilizing tyme magic, you could manipulate time to reverse it or even stop it. You can even slow down time to enhance your reflexes and ability to strike. Tyme magic also allows you to easily evade arrows, spears, rocks and other projectiles. Very useful when you have a conflict with an archer tribe." I smirk and ask him to explain how the magic actually works.

While I await an answer, the sharp sting occurs and I am able to see the elemental preparing to strike me followed by a return attack that will be blocked. Holding for a moment, I whisper, "ātmā śīlḍa, phārma!" My shield appears and I turn to receive the attack. I counter with the Parī Pan̄jē (Spirit Half Moon Strikes) attack at close range. The elemental disperses and the attack passes through him. I think I am starting to understand what he is trying to teach me here. Tyme magic is instinctual not theoretical per say. I am sure that there are some that could apply theory to it, but I seem to use this power by raw, primal instinct. Even with this new power that I am developing, Foresight. I can see things off of instinct almost as a sort of warning signal. I think I might actually be able to focus it to play out different fights in my head to be able to predict the movements of my enemies and counter them before they can actually do me harm.

With that, the sand barrier is absorbed back into the elemental's form and I nod to him to show my gratitude. Now I have a better understanding of what is necessary to continue to enhance these powers that I am gaining now. The boy walks into the room and the elemental is back into animal form yet again. The boy feeds him while the girl tends to his wounds. I fall into my own thoughts as I continue to think about the different uses that I could find for this new Foresight ability. I am also bothered by the nagging questions regarding where this power came from. I begin to wonder if it may be some form of side effect from some of my other powers, but I don't have any other powers closely related to tyme magic. Most people would be happy to develop new powers without formal instruction, genetic inheritance, or some other explainable method, but it is a cause for concern for me. I don't need any outside influences affecting me. I suppose it is a very good thing that I did not kill the elemental when he first bucked up at me. I probably would not have found understanding of tyme magic and how I am able to access and utilize it for quite some time without his help. A lesson learned...
