PostSubject: Manifest Destiny(Themeless, closed)   Mon Oct 19, 2009 2:08 am

Adrian stood silently in place, his face mostly hidden behind the porcelain mask of Fu Leng. The demonic skull mask was once again serving it's purpose, keeping the swordsman focused. He wasn't pestered by the voice of that Katsuhito woman when he wore it, even with Goranova's ivory handle in his hand. Breathing slowly the swordsman stood there, Goranova in his right hand, the Devil's Teardrop in his left.

The bastard swords were designed to be used either two handed or in one hand. Then again in this day and age there were none brave enough to take up the cause of the blade. People fought with guns, and used them to kill much easier. So impersonal and unrefined. So... uncivilized. The blade was personal and powerful. It required skill and prowess. It required you to be one in mind and body with the blade to come away from true battle alive.

The swordsman's eyes opened behind the mask. Turning he grinned, his eyes falling on his target. An opponent he wouldn't hold back against.

"So no magic. Agreed?" he asked.

No magic he would say. Easy enough for him, though Shou was hardly able to keep the flames that burned within him at bay even on a regular basis. Having come to the forests once more, he had sought a challenger, someone who knew the use of swords well. There was no better pick in his head than the human of this temple. Still, looking to the blade in his hand, this dark katana that he had come to possess as a gift from, oddly enough, an angel, Shou knew such an exercise would allow him a renewal of his past strengths. The oni's hands unclasped the hold of the sheath, his fingers gripping it as he slowly slid it away from the blade. "No magic." Shou confirmed, before pulling forth the dark katana and directing it out in front of him. His left hand dropped the cover, having no appropriate holding on his own person, though the item could have been recovered later. He couldn't help but snicker lightly, a smirk forming at the lips as he realized he was heavily unused to the idea of a swordfight. "This oughta be fun."

Nothing more need be said. The two of them could let their weapons speak for them. Tossing Goranova into the air Adrian's right hand drew the sheath out, of the sash at his waist. Holding it out the blade came down perfectly before slipping into the black sheath. Setting it against the temple wall he smirked darkly. He waited patiently before he brought the Devil's teardrop in a salute.

Stepping forward he brought the weapon back before he spun his body turning with a quick strike coming around toward his opponent's throat. He was much faster than most humans though there was no surprise since he could see spirits. It was no surprise that he would be above the powers of a standard humans.

The oni had the priviledge of being to gauge this man's speed once before, and the spin of the body only ensured a powered strike coming his way. It had been some time since he had used a blade, something that must have been only practiced before in his mortal life. Even that was vague. With his katana all ready out before him, he brought the blade back and whipped it forward through the air, clashing his metal against the weapon that sought his throat. It was unfortunate that he would have been restricted in not being able to his any of his magical abilities, but he forced himself to gain a greater understanding of the blade.
As his katana clashed into the other with an upward swing it would have knocked his opponent's target off the mark. The oni followed through with his katana's movements through the air, spinning as he would dare turn his back on the human while thrusting the katana behind him through the gap of his side and arm, the tip of the weapon seeking to strike into Adrian's gut.

Adrian's arm swung out, the Devil's Teardrop transfering one hand to the other. The wide blade of Adrian's Bastard Sword caught the jabbing blade of the katana before pushing it out and wide. His eyes narrowed as his other arm swung out, his body turning with it. Free of the katana's blade the Devil's Teardrop once again transfered hands, the blade jabbing out toward the demon's chest. It was a wie ar that if flew in but the swordsman was not only agile but well versed in combat. He grinned darkly as his other hand came out, in an attempt to grab the Oni by the arm.

In the same motion his leg swung out. It was desparate and sloppy, much worse than his swordplay, but it was an attempt to throw the oni to the ground. He'd have to learn to fight unarmed soon, to improve on his technique.

His katana's thrust had been met with a parry, though its movements were halted as it slapped against his arm as the blade was nestled in the gap between his side and left appendage. Shou went with the motion though, his foot sweeping to the side as his body whirled around, the weapon in his hand shifting to the other's handling as it swung around just in time to clash against the metal that aimed at his chest. It might have been one of the earlier uses of such a weapon, but recollections of his mortal life made him feel far more at ease with this sword of combat than he would have originally thought.
The fight had brought them into close quarters, too close for Shou's take on it. As this swordsman reached out and gripped his arm, the oni had lifted a leg and shot out his foot to strike against the other's chest in an attempt to knock him back. Unknowing, though, a sweep kick caught him on his one supportive leg, sending him off the ground though his original attack hadn't suffered any momentum in its strike.

Adrian grunted and stepped back quickly as his free hand went to his chest. The kick had been firm and strong. But so too had the trip attempt. The masked swordsman's backwards motion put distance between them, Adrian grinning as he stood there. This was the first time in a long time he had felt like this. The first time in so long that he'd felt a challenge. The only other person that could ever make him feel this way was the demon Domen'Yun. And even then Yun still had a large advantage. At least for now, he did.

Adrian drew his weapon back, his eyes closing as he brought it up and over his head. He waited patiently for a moment before his eyes snapped open, his vision tunneling with the other male in the center.

The oni would never strike the ground as his ability of flight caught him. A blast of flame erupted at his feet as he suddenly whirled in the air, performing a back flip that would have sent his leg high up into the air before coming to kick back down onto the ground. A smirk was in place on the demon's lips as he regained stance, pleased to see that this human could appreciate the thrill of a battle as proof of a grin was on his expression as well. He swiped the katana out in front of him as Adrian took a moment to pause, his own actions were to give him a greater feel of the weapon. Even now he was constantly re-learning skills that he had assumed dead along with what had been his humanity. "Oh?" Shou questioned as Adrian's eyes came open once more, chuckling lightly. "You getting serious now?" He held Mabushiiken outwards in front of him, both hands coming to grip the hilt of the weapon now.

Adrian lept forward, the dirt kicking up behind him as he put his all into the charge. The Devil's Teardrop came down and back before arcing around in a wide slash. The dark metal blade flashed out, aiming to cut clean through the oni's neck. The masked swordsman wasn't playing anymore. He wasn't about to let this beast show him up, let alone lose, for any reason at all. His anger was focused and funnelled deep into the muscles of his arms and into the blade in his hand.

His knuckles turned white as he gripped the hilt of the demonic weapon. The cross hilt was in the design of a skull with bat wings spread out. In the eyes of the skulls a pair of jewels almost glowed as the swordsman put his will behind the strike, along with all his strength.

"Hmph." The man seemed to put all of his effort in the charge forward and the following swing and Shou knew better than to try and block. Instead, he simply ducked while taking a step forward. If this human was going to resort to those kind of fatal strikes, as he had aimed for the purpose of decapitation, then this demon would not relent either. His head coming under the swing of the Devil's Teardrop, Mabushiiken would then be thrusted outward, still in the grip of both of his hands. It shot forward with swiftness as he used the movement of his advancing step to his advantage of bringing this battle closer, and drawing the other's evasion space to a minimum. The tip of the katana would seek the human's chest in the motion it was put into.

Adrian's body turned quickly. He was too close to dodge outright but unlike most humans and even most demons, Adrian could take a lot more punishment than people thought it could. Training with demons had made Adrian learn to take a blow like they did. He could take just as much punishment as the greater devils of Hell. And because of this, it only served to make his presence as Fu Leng, the ruler of Hell, more true.

His eyes narrowed behind the mask as he felt the blade of Mabushiiken sink into his shoulder. He flinched, his teeth flashing as he set his jaw. His free arm shot forward, attempting to do to the demon what had been done to him. Adrian wasn't one that liked pain. But if it came down to it, if the two of them wounded one another time again, then Adrian would come out on top.

In a bloody swipe, he would retrieve the katana from the man's shoulder and in the same motion swing it out to parry the oncoming weapon that came for him. Blood flew across the air in the motion, but Shou wasn't the type to admire a successful hit, knowing it best to keep moving, and he matched the other's speed when it came to this type of combat. It was a little unsettling to think that a human could fight on par with him on these equal terms, though, when they were supposed to be an inferior sort in comparison. As soon as he had redirected the other's path, he kicked back away from the area, a dsic of flame erupting under his foot to support his flight backwards. As his feet came back down to land on the ground, he regarded his opponent with a furrowed brow. Being that close to him was apparently a very dangerous spot, this man's knowledge of the blade was obviously higher and more skillful than his own. "I should stop holding back against you." Shou stated out loud, a grin crossing his lips once more. Holding Mabushiiken outwards in front of him, he chuckled darkly. "How'd you like to face someone who really gave you a challenge?" The oni questioned, as flames began to encircle his form.

The masked swordsman turned to face his opponent. He breathed slowly as his vision returned to normal slowly. He grinned as he sat there, the Devil's Teardrop in his hand. He breathed slowly as he stood there. His hand came back before he threw the weapon into the air. As it went he shot forward, unarmed, toward the oni in front of him. His legs carried him swiftly toward the fire demon, his hand coming back, the other extended almost defensively. It looked like the swordsman was going to unarmed combat against his opponent.

An instant later, the black mist that preceeded the arrival of the Devil's Teardrop appeared around Adrian's forward arm. The Bastard sword formed instantly as the masked male had willed, the blade shooting toward the demon's chest. Adrian himself was already holding back. If he'd been serious he'd have chosen to use the sword of light. But Goranova wasn't needed for this fight. Shou was strong and Adrian could fight all out against him. But Goranova's crystal blade gave him an unfair advantage.

Shou supposed the man's charge forward was answer enough, a chuckle coming forth once more. "Good." The flames that encircled him then erupted into full force, consuming his entire being. It raged with intensity, as a low piercing growl came forth out of it. It would lift away and wisp into the sky only a moment later, his appearance undergoing a drastic change from his human form. He wasn't a beast but he most certainly didn't resemble the mortals of the planet, having given into the chaotic monster that he was. "Kuhuhu.." The thrust of the other seemed slow in his eyes at this point, the movement much more comprehendible. The re-forming of the blade in Adrian's grasp didn't surprise him, having seen this happen once before, and Mabushiiken swept forward and knocked it off course yet again. The figure wielding the katana was changed, the braid that normally held the back of his hair together had dispersed in the fire and it more resembled a mane that spiked outward into the air around him. His eyes were no longer crimson, but a bright hue of orange that seemed to have dual rings of flames encircling them within the white. From his mouth, his canines had transformed into two giant sabre fangs that loomed down to come even with his chin. "Now I'm ready to fight!" The oni shouted out with his lips spreading out in a wide grin, slashing the katana out forward in front of him in a wide arc.

His body reacted, as soon as his blade was forced off course. With a thought his blade switched hands and came up defensively. He caught the Katana's blade with his own before he shifted, throwing himself away from the fire creature. Crying out in rage he began slashing at a tree, his blade tearing into it as he trembled. He screamed at the top of his lungs as he clung to the rage that came to the surface. He put everything into his slashes, his blade moving quickly as he let go.

Panting he brought the Devil's Teardrop down hard, wedging it into the tree before he fell to his knees, his strength, his rage, and the adrenaline in his system all gone. He had become like a child, his body weak and vulnerable at the moment.

"Satsu... I will find you... And I will kill you. You turned her against me. I'll kill them all. One by one, until you know what it is that's happening. I'll kill you last." he said, his body shaking.

"Ara ara.. shouldn't you be using that sword against me?" Shou taunted with a smirk, though the man didn't seem to acknowledge the tease as he had dropped to his knees and began mumbling about something else. Some personal agenda, no doubt, a rage that boiled up and had this human bordering onto some sort of insanity. Of course, he held no desire to strike at someone who didn't have his heart in the battle. That didn't sit well with the transformation he had just undergone, seeking the thrill of combat now that he had given into the chaos that was the side of his beast. Glancing to the side, his eyes went to the forest. "Well, if you feel like fighting sometime, that's all well and good. I think I wanna kill some demons now though." Shou stated, figuring Adrian done and gone somewhere else as he turned and began to head towards the trees of the wood.

"Shou... I have something I want to ask you. I asked you before if Humanity was worth saving. And I intend to save them, in my own way. I'll turn them all against me. I'll make them hate me and unite against me. And in such they will fight to survive. And they will all know how to do it. But try as I might this demon inside me is only getting stronger. If it beats me... If I lose to it, and it takes over everything that I am... Will you take my life?" he asked, trembling as he knelt there, unable to look at his friend. "I need to know that if I lose this battle, that someone will be there to kill me. I need someone I can trust."

He was turning to the demon, almost begging him. He could only trust so many people, and this man's swordplay didn't lie. Adrian felt he could trust him.

"Hm?" Shou paused and glanced over his shoulder. That notion seemed rather ambitious, though it interested the demon. Forcing humanity to unite while making himself the enemy? There were all ready enough problems the humans had to worry about with demons rampaging around, though most of them were oblivious to those spirits. "You plan to sacrifice yourself?" Shou questioned, before the other addressed a different issue, one of a spirit within him that was apparently battling for control. "Heheh. Now that is interesting." The oni hadn't known of the other resident within that body, intrigued, though it might have been a plausible explanation to this man's ascent of strength from the average human being. "You know I love a good fight. If that demon decides to come out.." He turned his back to the forest, facing the human, figuring he deserved his full attention on the matter. "I would gladly fight it to the death!" Shou exclaimed, an excited grin in place as he rested the flat edge of his katana against his shoulder. Besides, if it truly came to that, then perhaps he could claim that blade as his own. It certainly appealed to him, knowing there was some dark nature behind it. "But. If you can avoid it, that wouldn't be so bad either." He stated with a dismissive wave of his free hand.

"Shou, you are one of the few people I can trust in this world. I just hope you live up to the high standards I have of people I call friends." he said, before rising slowly.

He withdrew the Devil's Teardrop from the tree before he sheathed it at his hip. He sighed, running a hand through his hair as he looked to the man he had just called a friend. The demon there was more human, to Adrian, than most of the people living in the city. He had truly wondered what he would do with himself the instant he was free of his burden, and often thought of going back to the city.

He would go back soon enough. To finish what Satsu had started. To finish off Akiko's students. There was no telling how powerful they were in their magic now, since Adrian had left. They had each other to fight, and to practice with. And if Adrian had become this adept at swordplay what level was Satsu on when it came to his own sword work? Too many questions buzzed within the swordsman's head, but he would have to let them go for now. If he could corner the Magic Club one by one, he could kill them all, leaving a blood trail. They were all going to suffer. And he would begin by returning Akiko's head to the School. And he knew just where to mount it.

"Take care of yourself Shou. I have business to attend to in the city. I hope you'll forgive my leaving." he said, before he walked away.

So the human thought of him as a friend? Interesting enough, though the demon didn't often associate with people on those kinds of conditions. He supposed Adrian was respectable enough to call an ally, a worthy fighter that possessed a rare strength found amongst the trash of mortals. "Good luck." Shou would bid the man as he left the temple, before turning his sights back onto the woods. He simply chuckled with anticipation, Mabushiiken at his side as he headed towards the forest.
