Again the rain poured over this part of the city as I sat on my perch. I had gotten free from that cage the girl kept me in again. She let me out but the other humans thought I was just another dumb animal and kept me in there no matter how much I fluttered against the bars of my prison or called out. They didn't want the girl's precious bird to fly out a window. I sighed as I puffed up my feathers to keep the burning rain out. Sometimes different blocks would get poisoned. I remembered the story of Onisu from many years ago. Although I didn't know too much about them, I knew that they tormented humans. I waited for the girl to come find me as she always did. That spirit summon that she had could find me in a heart beat. I was sitting on a mailbox in plain view as I glanced around. That was when I felt it, poison began to seep into my into my feathers from the rain. Quickly I flew under a nearby awning. Settling down on the sidewalk I waited for the poison to pass. Yes. This was the work of demons. And it reeked of the Onisu. I had fond one. The rain passed and I healed myself as I waited for girl to come in the pouring rain to find me. I liked this part of town. It was depressing like me. ! -- STOP TYPING>

Though I did not permanently live in the Gothstone, I now had an apartment that I rented there. It was a small, one person one that had a neighborhood across from it. Today I was coming over, though I had to finish another "theorpy" session with the old man. My spirit could be seen by him, which helped me deal with Ryota. I moved silently through the Gothstone, leaving my car in the Hights with my mom, since she wanted to borrow it for a dinner party. She likely assumed that I didn't have this place, but that didn't matter. It was a place for the bird to be, and get out when she wanted. The cage its self was large, but I knew that birds liked to get out. I moved through the streets with Ryota having his cape over me- since he was in the physical realm, one might have thought it hard to explain a 2 meter tall, ancient cloths wearing demon with a cape by a girl wearing dark clothing. Not to mention the triple horns that seemed to be where his ears were. I explained that he was an avid costume wearer and cosplayer. He couldn't say no to that, as per our contract. I moved silently to the place and looked for the song bird. Ryota looked down at me with his golden eyes and said, "She's in the side, near the playground area." I would nod my head, the light chestnut color hair bouncing gentle as we moved. I looked for her before he said, "Swingset, Sakura." I would again nod to him and call out in a sing song voice, "Nightingale, please come and see me?" It was my sweet voice, gentle to the ears and calming. I held out my hand to see if she would come, or if I would have to find her. After thus, I would have o go and get an umbrella to stop annoying my demon to cover me with his cape.

I heard the girl's voice as I fluffed myself on the sidewalk on the other side of the swing set. With a flap I take to the wing in a spiral motion up to the rain filled clouds. The water soaking my feathers as I glance at the demon beside the human. Summoners who made contracts with demons. I trusted neither, but I didn't care too much either way. I heard the cry of a hawk above and soon I dived down onto the shoulder of the girl. Opposite the demon. tilting my head I glanced over to the demon and hissed softly. "What do you know of the Onisu, demon? Specifically one that can create poisoned rain." I had only give the oni and the girl my nickname. The nightingale. I was bigger than most nightingales since I was the first. My claws dug gently into her shoulder as my head dipped to pick at my chest feathers. If there was no answer, I would click my beak. "Girl there is a demon here in this part of the city that will continue to poison people if we do not go and destroy..." I was cut off by the sound of the hawk. I tilted my head up and scanned the dark sky. For a moment I knew fear instead of sorrow. Fear of prey caught in the gaze of the predator. My heart began to beat rather rapidly. ! -- STOP TYPING>

I would watch as Nightingale came to my shoulder, the side away from the demon. I would walk to the house as I listened to her, and after she was done, my demon spoke up, "Ah, I know this specific demon well. I fought her back when I had my full powers, before this contract was made with Sakura hime." He called her Princess because that's how she acted around him, "This one is Kanashimi, Lady of Sorrow. She is paticularly dangerous to thoe that had no defense against poisons. Sakura hime should learn to guard against poisons at this time, ne?" The demon would pat my head as we walked on, while I would looked down at her as I moved sideways through the doorway and replied in a dry tone, "I suppos this would be better then poisoning you to learn it. Is there anything else we should know about this demon?" Royta would smirk, revealing pointed and sharp teeth, "Ah, now that you ask. Her soul must have been released into this world after the Katsuhito priestess, Mizuho, paid her price of her first born son. The Lady of Sorrow uses poison rains, so the only defense for the weaker rains will be that umbrella. She takes the form of a horned hawk, so I suggest that Nightingale here airs on the side of caution." He did know her name as well, old as he was- much older then his late twenties, early thirties showed. He still didn't understand how a fourteen year old girl with no magic powers could have done what she did. But their contract was coming to a point that would put Sakura's memories at risk. The contact would turn her memories into something... unique if if actually went through on her eighteenth birthday. Something Sakura seemed to forget. Then again, only Royta had connections to see the contact. I grabbed by umbrella, which was black with designs of white sakura petals on them, as I headed to out the door, saying, "We'll just have to take her on then, I guess."

I nodded and looked over the girl's head as the demon spoke. This might seem like a very strange thing to those who could see and judge the nature of spirits. The girl literally had a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other. I met the demon's eyes as he said my name. My beak clicked in annoyance at the his tone upon it. Sighing, I peck at my breast feathers again. As they speak, I remain silent, my vocals not required at the moment. As the girl makes her final statement, I sigh and nibble at her ear to get her attention. I was old but I had been in this realm long enough to learn their phrases and their ways. "You can not stand up to an Onisu, sweeting. You need a little more than the spell heal to accomplish anything." I looked over at the demon and glared. he should know that better than either of us and should be the one talking her out of this. But he was a demon, he had other plans obviously. I sighed again and looked up to the sky. A hawk demon. Wonderful. I bet that was her up there at the moment. ! -- STOP TYPING>

My emerald eyes would look over at the bird as she speaks of me staying out o the way. I would release a low sigh and look down as I said, "I have to do what I can, Nightingale. I can't let Ryota to all the work." The demon would look at the bird as he stepped out into the night and said, "Nightingale, you should know that humans are not easily influenced my words." His eyes would look at the bird's before he looked up at the sky and said, "But our support strategy will have to be based on avoiding as much raining on Sakura hime as possible. You will stay within three steps of the house. That way you'll stay safe." I wanted to protest, but with Nightingale and Ryota had both told me to basically stay out of the way. I would nod and say, "But, if I see one of you needs healing, I'll do it. It's only fair. The two of you are risking your lives..." Ryota would release an annoyed sigh before he said, "Fine, but if your about to get hurt or attacked, no matter what, retreat, Sakura. This demon won't be easy to escape." A nod came from me when my demon would place his hand out and gripped it as he said, "Bird, our actual battle strategy will be to lure that Lady of Sorrow down. Don't worry, I'll shoot her with my 'element' before you get caught. If we can disable one of her wings, she'll be useless for flight." I had trained with Ryota yesterday and gained the ability he called Spiri-Beam. His element wasn't really an 'element' per say, but it involved the demonic arts. I would look at Nightingale and ask, "Is that agreeable, or did you have a different plan?"

I jumped onto the demon's shoulder, my talons gripping onto him. "Perhaps you be the decoy." My attempt at a joke as I glanced up to the dark clouds above. I shifted from one foot to another and sighed. "You will have to forgive me if I do not trust you demon." I clicked my beak as I took off to the skies circling my way up, the dual colors of my feathers could be seen as I made my way into the clouds. Before disappearing I call out. "Do not forget demon." My body disappeared above the clouds as the rain turned into poison again.
I circled as I looked for the hawk, I could hear her up here, but it was hard to pin point her. Then I felt it, that fear just before the prey got hit by the predator. I braced myself and felt the talons hit me and grab into my tender wings. I let out a loud yelp as the talons dug deep. The yelp turned out to be a silent spell known as Finale Reverb. The lash hit the hawk and I was knocked from the sky. The Hawk demon let out a high pitched scream. and soared after me, I broke through the clouds my wings folded against me hoping the demon would do as he said. The hawk soon broke the cloud line screeching after me, her talons out for the kill. ! -- STOP TYPING>

She agreed and hopped onto Ryota's shoulder, something I never thought I would see her do. I would stay silent at her humor- Ryouta couldn't fly, nor could he get very far away from my. I walked out and into the rain as the umrella went up and Ryota placed his hand out. I could already see the small energy of the beam forming in his hands as he gave an evil chuckle- I always said he couldn't help such laughter because he was a demon. I watched and prayed that Nightingale would be fine. Ryota himself prayed to no one and he himself never really seemed to care much about other people or their doings besides my own. I would speak to him, "Ryota, get ready..." He would make a face tha read "yeah yeah". Placing a hand up, all the energy pressed into one hand, we would hear the screech of Nightingale. I flinched and hoped that she was going to be okay. Soon I barely made out her form falling, but Ryota had noticed it already and aimed. It would be a moment and then he fired. I couldn't see the hawk, and he moved it in an arc. Wht fired off was a beam that had many mouths on it, with pointed teeth that contentiously chewed, making "om num" shoulds, dripping with saliva. Disgusting, but the time lag would make up as the beam caught the hawk in the wing just as it was about to grab Nightingale. One of my hands went to my mouth as I hoped she would be fine as I placed a hand out as I closed my eyes, getting ready to heal her as I spoe under my breath, "Om abata mura musaragato om gataru- may the goddess heal." Mist would flow to Nightingale as Ryota's beam of demons would bite and chew, literally, at the wing of the demoness. A smirk came to his face as I knew he was thinking about this beam. It was one that really showed it was a demon- the biting and chewing lasted moments, but there were many mouths to this demonic beam. I watched, hoping that my healing spell would remove any damage that the hawk had dealt.

I continued to fall my back facing the earth. My wings were torn and I had only one chance to make it to the earth. The hawk continued its dive towards me, her talons almost gripping into my flesh. Just as I saw those talons about to close around me, a beam of munching mouths hit the big bird. The Hawk screamed and only I could hear the spell she cast from my perch. As a silver mist evolved me from the girl, it was dispelled as well as the munching mouths. Wonderful. But at least the attack had stopped. I continued my fall to the earth. About five feet from the ground, I spread my useless wings and fluffed my landing. I still made a sickening sound when I hit the pavement, but at least I was still alive. I heard the bird speak in my mind. "I am the Lady of Sorrow. Feel despair at my powers. Your death is near"
I fluttered and got to my feet shaking my head. The hawk was swooping again and I didn't have time to think straight so instead I again made a loud vocal screech, this time the windows shattered from the buildings around us. As I cast Final Reverb again without the aid of words. The lamp post showered sparks as everything glass within a city block cracked. (remind me to post this since she is Advanced Mode) car alarms went off and the city felt the power of my voice. The hawk had been right in the middle of the sound wave and she whimpered weakly as she fell to the ground. Her body turning to ash as a white soul began to float up towards the sky. I moved over to her soul, my mouth opening and closing around it as I swallowed it. I looked around for the girl and waited, my wings dripping blood on the pavement. As the girl approached, I looked to the pile of ash. "There is only one Lady of Sorrow. And its not you" ! -- STOP TYPING>

I watched as the mist connected and hopefully did some healing. The hawk squawked after the beam struck it, but what now? I started running towards where Nightingale would land- my reason was to catch the poor bird, but it was just lucky that Ryota grabbed my wrist and pulled me out of range of a deadly sound spell, I placed and arm over my eyes and turned my head as glass shattered and lamps. The park near the apartment building was shattered, metal bend with a sickening sound of twisting and groaning metal. I would look up after the sound and see that Nightingale was fine as I finished my run to her. She said that there was only one Lady of Sorrow, so I guessed she got her target. I placed my hand down and said, "We've got to get going before the police come." I wondered if she had a way out, because I had walked all the way here, my car was at home.
