Devil's Plaything

It was raining, that was unusual for the demon as he looked up too the skies, when that first happened he immediately sought shelter, thinking that it was like Onitoshi where if it was raining then it was probably either raining acid or fire. It was a relief when he came to understand that it was just normal H2o that was falling gently too the ground, so he had spent most of the time walking in the streets enjoying the feel of rain falling on him. It was quite the novel experience. *Should try to work this into a sermon one of these days.* He thought to himself as he kept walking through the streets of the lower commons. He wasn't worried about being attacked, not many people would be for traveling a foot in this kind of weather, and there was something about him which drove others away, more then likely they sensed his otherworldly connection. Roshi had now come too a small playground and decided to stand and just listen for a little while to the sound of the rain.

“Man, what are we going to do man… if we don’t get the money for the surgery, moms might die!” one street urchin says to another while seeking cover under a store front awning in front of a liquor store. The male with him comments, “I don’t know… we’ll get the money somehow… don’t you worry…” The two young men were both dressed in clothing consisting of baggy black jeans and a long sleeve thermal black shirt with the collar of a white tee shirt visible beneath. One had on a black jacket with a hood as the other had on a black hoodie covering his head. The one assuring the other that everything would be alright pulls up his shirt, revealing the silver glint of a gun as he states, “I’ll take care of it.” The other urban youth protests, “but Thomas… you just got into community college… you’re going to become doctor and get out of the Lower Commons… moms wouldn’t like this…” The one named Thomas looks to his brother and says, “my name on these streets is Tdog… nothing matters if she’s not here to share it with me… we need that dough…” He looks out and notices the demons walking in the rain. “He’s white… he looks like he has money…” he says turning towards him. His brother was unable to see the demon, since he wasn’t gifted like that. Looking blindly around, he asks, “who are you talking about… you’re scaring me man… you’re spacing out again…” Tdog assure him that it would be ok and that he would be right back. He pats the heat on the side of his waist and then leaves his brother as he goes into the rain and carefully jogs up behind the demon. He tries to get the jump on him as he grabs him with one hand to the back of his shoulder, speaking, “you already know what this is! I’m jacking you fool! Get down or lay down!”

The novelty was wearing thin for the demon, so he would be heading back into one of the abandoned warehouses that littered the Commons. Roshi had turned on his heels, when he was accosted by a few humans. One of them had to be spiritually aware given his intangible state at the moment, but with a little effort of will he phased into reality. There was really only two ways in the Scourge's mind, but only one which really entertained him. He turned around to face his mugger."Yes, I can see that you are attempting to rob me." He would say too the poor unfortunate as power ripped into the rain, collecting a small portion of it and with a small bit of manipulation was placed behind the trigger of the gun, preventing it from firing. That done the demon pulled his head back and delivered a vicious headbutt hoping to break the kids nose with the impact from his skull.

The mugger was a bit surprised that the male turned around to face him after being threatened. He wasn’t surprised enough to bring the RP to an early end by shooting him, but surprised enough for the opposite to happen and even more surprised at the calm tone and observation made by the male who was about to be mugged. Had the un chanted water spell somehow manipulated it into becoming ice, it may have been plausible to stop the squeezing of a trigger, but it was water… Still, the lad had never really robbed anyone before. Of course he had seen it on TV and in the music videos, but to this experience, he was a virgin. With the coarse attempt at a head butt came in, the youth would lean back and away from it, stepping back and pulling the trigger on the gun. Unfortunately for him but fortunately for the water guy, the person who sold the gun to the youth sold him a broken piece. The gun jams up and does not fire, leaving him at an awkward state. Luckily for the youth, he was at least a little better than novice at fighting. Deciding the gun was of no use, he throws it at the physical spirit and then rushes him with a punch aimed to the side of his head.

The gun seemed like a dud, which was fortunate for him like his rping partner had stated, but he was immediately pulled out of melee range hence his headbutt went wide. The reaction became that the kid threw the gun at him and then charged, which left two options. He could take the hit from the gun and dodge the punch while coming in at the kid, or he could dodge the gun and get clobbered by the kids fist. Roshi would take the former option as he stepped in and let the handle of the gun hit his midsection and then crouched down and put his fists up lowering his profile and blocking the punch with his hands and immediately stepped in and went for a body blow upon the kid.

While this was going on, the kid’s brother would be standing there, very concerned about what was going on. From all indications, it looked like his brother had ran up behind nothing, jumped back, thrown his gun into very hard thin air and then punched at nothing only to react to some type of impact on his stomach. He sighs and shakes his head at his bro who was acting a fool in the rain. He jogs out to get his brother who had been hit by the punch to the stomach. His abs had flexed with the strike, but it was stronger than he had expected. His bending body grabs hold to the spirit and attempts to hold him in place for two swift knee strikes to the mid section. In the background, one could hear, “okay… um… let’s just go home, Tdogg…”

He was pulled into a cinch, but he could quickly turn it around. Roshi would take the first knee strike before he hooked the kids knee preventing the second strike. The demon would then keep the hold for several moments before driving the kids back onto the cement sidewalk and driving his elbow repeatedly. His attention was focused mostly upon the guy he was fighting, but he did pick up the words of the other guy who came too them. Roshi face as planted right next too his side and seeking to deal a little more damage would open his mouth and clamped down hard enough to draw blood from the kid.

“Ow!” the thug calls out as he is ‘bitten’ by the spiritual victim. By this time, much more fighting would draw too much attention, and being hurt was not a part of the plan. The male cursed his luck with the gun and attempt to pull free of the teeth using his free arm to attempt to bash the attacker. His brother comes up to him, wrapping his arms about his chest and pulling back, stating, “what’s wrong with you… oh my god, are you bleeding, son?! What the hell?!” There didn’t seem to be a logical explanation and the one being attacked didn’t know that the thing he was attacking wasn’t human. Around this time, the physical phase that occurred early finally registers and the male’s eyes widens as he realizes that his brother was actually fighting someone up to this point. Freaked out, he yells, “yo, let’s get out of here!”

The spirit sensed the other combatant wanting to retreat, so there wasn't much need to continue the confrontation. He would let the other guy go and stand up as the other guy was pulled back by his companion. Roshi would just give Tdogg a calm smirk before saying "You should pick your targets more carefully next time, else you will find yourself dead on the streets." He would say giving a bloody smile too the poor kid before wiping off the blood on his lips and cracking his neck. Roshi would be waiting for the next reaction that the two of them would have and be ready to strike again if he needed too.

The boys would stumble back with the little brother holding back the older brother who held his arm where he was bitten with his other arm. “I’ll remember this, freak!” he calls back to the smiling spirit before his brother pulls him back saying, “let’s just go, it’s not worth it… there’s no telling what that guy can do!” The two pull back and retreat, running down the side walk in the opposite direction as the rains resume their intensity, looking back every once in a while before moving out of sight. With that, the spirit would be left in please, able to resume his casual stroll through the drab surroundings of the Lower Commons.

"Yare yare, have a nice life try not fight me again, else I'll kill you and feat upon your immortal soul." Roshi would say giving a dismissive wave towards the guy. He had already dismissed the mortals from his thoughts and waited for the two of them too leave before phasing into reality letting other beings see him who didn't have spiritual sight. The fight had invigorated him, and now he couldn't enjoy the rain anymore. "Crap, now I have to find something else to do." Roshi said to himself.
