Teaching the class(Work) Empty
PostSubject: Teaching the class(Work)   Teaching the class(Work) EmptyThu Mar 19, 2009 10:43 pm

Adrian wandered down the hall, his injuries less apparent than they were the other day. He'd had time to recover, though he kept his arm in a sling, his head bandaged, and one eye covered with gauz. He sighed lightly as he knocked on Akiko's door, waiting patiently for the teacher to answer, or open the door. He sighed lightly as he heard the professor making a ruckus. He wasn't sure what she'd been doing but he'd have a guess soon enough.

The door slid open, and she poked her head out, her body hidden behind the door. Her face was red and her hair was slightly messy, as if put up in her usual bun quickly. He just shook his head keeping it to himself. He wouldn't dare say anything.

"Adrian! You're back, good. I'm glad to see you've recovered... Somewhat. Did you break your arm?" she asked.

"Bike accident. Are you going to be in class today or should I just play the lecture tape?" he responded, not sure if he'd like her answer.

"Actually I'm swamped. And I didn't have time to make the tape. Can you teach the class? We're going over your notes, and the things you've compiled on the subject so far. You know it better than I do." she responded, smiling lightly.

"Am I getting paid the same ammount you do? Or am I still getting my normal fee?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow.

"I can't pay you anything more. Fine. I'll be there in a few minutes!" she said, closing the door quickly.

Adrian sighed, and wandered into the class room, setting his things down in his usual spot by the window. He'd have to turn even further now with his left eye covered by the eye patch. At least if he wanted to stare outside as usual. His work in this class for his grade was literally his paycheck. He compiled the research, and did the dangerous stuff, and she gave him an A and a little something else for compensation. The money was good, but he wasn't the type to really care about "the almighty dollar."

Instead he kept his money for things he required, at least for now. He had heard things he was going to research on his next trip out of town. His job always had him coming and going. He could never have time to himself. He was kicking himself, hoping he'd be able to slip off campus to see Trinity that night, his body not bandaged. He didn't know anyone but Satsu, very well here so most people probably wouldn't be able to identify him on the street.

"Alright class settle!" Akiko called as she entered, the bell ringing right after her. "I have a treat for you! Adrian has come back to class after recovering from his recent trip into the Western Woods! And he's going to answer your questions!"

Adrian did a double take, his exposed eye wide as he stared at her. This was how she was getting her revenge on him for earlier?!

Adrian glared at her as he sat there in utter silence, not sure what to say. Well that wasn't true, he knew exactly what he wanted to say. He wanted to call her out for fucking in her office moments before, and so on. But he didn't have much of a choice. She was there, and if she decided to make him do this, he couldn't do much about it. With a light sigh he stood up and made his way to the podium and desk in front of the stadium seated class. It wasn't packed, but it was a good day.

As he passed he glared at Akiko, the two of them almost fighting with psychic powers. They had an unspoken bond, and were able to read one another pretty easilly.

I'm going to make you suffer for this. I don't like talking to groups! He thought.

Too bad. La-la-la! I'm not teaching, la-la-lah! At least that's the response he imagined her saying. He had no idea what she was really thinking.

She smiled, walking away, heading to her seat off from the class, smiling as she waited patiently for Adrian to begin speaking. Adrian stood there, thinking as he looked at the print out of the notes he made for Akiko. They were folded back, to the portion about spells. He shrugged and moved to stand in front of the desk, out in the open. Akiko wasn't going to like where he was going with this. But he was going to prove to the class that they were always watched by spirits of one kind or another.

"Among my notes, and according to where professor Suzuhara's notes were opened to you appear to be on what I have to say regarding spells. Magick, with a see kay, is a powerful force constantly appearing through history in mythology in all forms around the world. Merlin of Camelot, tutor to the legendary King Arthur. Demons, vampires, and other such creatures in books. Mages, warlocks, and sorcerers. If they are truely part of mythology then surely they must have at least one foot in reality." he said standing there.

"Are you saying that there are real spells in life?" a student asked, watching him

"Yes. Very much so. All things in mythology are steeped in reality. Some have one foot in reality, others are absurd. Name something from Mythology, and it will have some tie to the real world. There are always ties to reality, no matter how absurd the myth." he said.

"Dragons!" a student called out.

"Dragons have several feet in mythology, or claws, or whatever you want them to have. However they have at least one foot in reality. I have no doubt there were once creatures confused for dragons. That someone saw a lizard, and freaked out about it and exagerated the size of it. But what I think is funny is that dragons are found in mythology all around the world, so could that many people have believed the story I just gave you and followed through with it? Was it some elaborate hoax? That is what my job is, to find the truth."

"Then prove it to us! Show us a dragon!" a student chided.

It brought a laugh from around the room, students chuckling as they watched him smile. It never hurt to have proof, in fact the world demanded it. It wasn't enough that people knew it existed, they all wanted to show that it was real, so nobody could call them liars. But Adrian was different. He didn't care if people thought he was a liar. He could care less about what other people thought of him so long as he knew what he was doing was true to himself.

"Well I don't have any dragons. But I can show you a bit of things. I will show you my first spell. It's not a very powerful one, it's in fact quite weak. But that is my own fault. When I get stronger so too will my magick." he said. nodding. "I want you to pick someone to throw something at me. It can be anything you want, but the class must decide. I will have nothing to do with it."

He waited patiently as they chose the teacher Akiko who picked up the thickest book she could find. He smiled as he stepped away from her, giving her about ten feet. He nodded and took a deep breath before he began to will the 'mana' forth.

"Seven bright stars in the sky I see, seven for those that watch over me. Shine forth your light and protect me." he muttered as he nodded.

He didn't see the surprise in Akiko's face in the moment of hesitation. Akiko threw the book as hard as she could. However it never came close. He didn't move. It simply bounced off thin air, before clattering to the ground as if it had struck some form of glass between the teacher and her research assistant.
