Write For You [Bonding Quest] Empty
PostSubject: Write For You [Bonding Quest]   Write For You [Bonding Quest] EmptyTue Dec 08, 2009 9:08 pm

Atilla saw a mouthful of fangs dive at her, and she jumped out of the way, the long tail of her rat form coming around with her weapon and bashing right into one of the large, black snake's unblinking eyes. She whirled around to face him, her teeth chittering together and the fur on her back standing up as she stood on her toes, taking one step backwards as the serpent recovered and glared at her. The thing was a higher order oni, much larger than even her second form, and she felt bold in taking it on herself.
It opened its mouth and chanted something brief and blasphemous, eventually belching out a poisonous cloud of miasma. The rat had recognized the phrase he uttered as a chant, however, and using the advantage of the pause, ran past the creature, slitting its back end open and allowing the black intestines to roll out.
The thing coughed, hissing curses at the angelic being before himself dissolving into the blackness from whence he came, his soul particles destined for the pits of Onitoshi.
Atilla sighed, then sat like a human, her whiskers twitching as she tried to smell which way a nice stream would be so she could freshen up and have a drink. She'd come a long ways since she'd last walked in this forest, and she had a bit longer to go before she could defend herself satisfactorily without her husband by her side.
She reached out her paw and took her lengthy tail in her hand, eyeing the unique blade at the end, a relic of her past life that she remembered well. The knowledge of her former life was now hers, and she recalled without flinching the legions of Slovay once dead beneath her paws with the help of the tail mounted weapon.
Somehow, it was a relief that she'd confronted her past and conquered it instead of devolving into her former self as she once feared she would.

The dead grass crunched under the oni's shoe as he stepped across the cleared out field. Such a thing usually meant it had been destroyed by fire, or a similar like, knowing the source of it though. Within Shou's grasp, he held the blade of Mabushiiken, while his crimson orbs narrowed in the direction of a short ridge that held two demons on its edge. The one that was closer, sitting atop the landmark as his dark eyes casted over in Shou's direction chuckled lightly. "Good to see you still alive and well.. you've grown stronger, it seems." The dark fire demon known as Inferne stated out loud, but Shou's eyes went to the other form. Another dark haired man, he was the brother of the demon that spoke out, dressed in a black yukata with a sash that held several sheaths along it. His arms were crossed out before him as he surveyed the approaching fire demon as well. "So this is the by product of that night.. heh."
Both challengers were here, the one of the blades and the one of the flames, demons who specialized in what he himself did but dwarfed his own abilities. Swiping his blade forward, Shou directed the tip in the demon's, who had taken his mortal life, direction. "Whats got you two about and out of hell?" The oni asked, for while he might have seen Inferne on several occassions, he hadn't seen his brother since his first becoming a demon. He truly wanted to strike out there, but there was still a long way to go before he even thought to take the two of them on at once. Their presence alone here made him question whether his safety was in danger, for if they decided to cut him down he doubted he could fend them both away. "This forest here has taken in a resident, one of our own from Onitoshi.. we're only seeing to employ his services, is all. He's got quite the techhnique." Inferne stated, tilting his head some to the side. "I didn't expect to see you here, though, Shou.. I couldn't bring myself to not say hello."
Shou's glare didn't relent off the man in the yukata though, harboring the rarely used emotion of hatred for that one. It incited a grin on the man's face. "Grudges, eh? You were strong as a human.. how strong have you become as a demon?" The man asked, his hand lowering to one of the hilts hung about his sash, before thinking better. "Heh.. we'll be taking our leave this time, though. Seek me out in hell if revenge is really what you're after. The Dark Apprentice awaits our company." The oni suddenly felt reckless, deciding he'd have his vengeance there as he began forward. The two forms of the demons wisped away into the air then and he gritted his teeth emitting a growl.
He was left alone on the spot, the only clue to finding the two of them either through the gates of hell or finding the one called the Dark Apprentice, who apparently took residence within the very woods.

The rat, meanwhile, scratched her chin briefly with a hind leg and devolved into her normal mouse form. Thus was the problem with using her tail blade to train more often, she had no pockets large enough to hold the thing while she was in her human form, and it was sort of awkward trying to drag it along after she'd shrunk.
Thus, she shifted back up to her bigger mouse form with a sigh, feeling the weariness of maintaining the form already begin to overtake her. She would have to find her way back to the trailer instead of spending more time out in the woods.
She found the scenic route beautiful at least. Hopping over a fallen log with colorful mushrooms sprouting along it's length, she surveyed her route. Impossibly large flowers littered the ground like art, fed upon by flashing butterfly spirits. The sun shone down, it was a real scorcher, but the canopy of the trees worked with the soft breeze to keep her comfortable. All manner of songbirds wove complicated melodies through the air, and the smell of the soft, mossy earth beneath her paws made her feel at home.
Another smell came to her nose, however, one very familiar and close to her heart, but there only lay a trace of it on the wind and the rodent couldn't tell with any amount of precision where it came from.
After some time, she shrugged off the sudden recognition, deciding she probably imagined it as she continued on. She felt as though she'd somehow lost her way again, even though she'd been very, very careful to keep track of where she was going this time. Her brow furrowed and she sat, looking at the same, fallen log with mushrooms poking out of it that she'd passed some time ago.

The oni slipped Mabushiiken back into its sheath, emitting a sigh as he glanced down towards the ground. It was difficult to lose himself into a chaos when the fight would have held more meaning to it than simple joy. Those two were deserving of a swift and powerful vengeance.. perhaps fire against sword, and sword against fire. He certainly couldn't match them in their own prowesses as it was.
He huffed out a sigh, removing his gaze from the ground and swiped it out across the forests' trees. He figured he at least had a lead, and that was by the name of the Dark Apprentice. Apparently he had a technique that the other demons were interested in, and indeed the title struck him as familiar, himself being an oni of the Western Forest. There was no definitive location to find this man, but Shou was intent on tracking him down regardless, kicking off the ground as he took flight into the air atop a disc of flame.

Write For You [Bonding Quest] Empty
PostSubject: Re: Write For You [Bonding Quest]   Write For You [Bonding Quest] EmptyWed Dec 09, 2009 1:55 am

She sat dejectedly on the log, rubbing her sore feet and shaking out the blue cloths that protected her soles from callouses and wear from the ground. Perhaps she'd been trying to go about getting home too quickly, she thought as she watched a centipede in a death struggle with innumerable ants that tugged its legs with their powerful jaws. Such a shame this plane inherited some of the passion and perishing of onitoshi's hellfire riddled anarchy. This place could be more like heaven if the creatures would cooperate instead of steadily trying to destroy each other. Then again, perhaps the Watchers put Onitoshi there so the heavenly spirits like herself would know that things could have been different for them and be grateful for their safety, comfort and happiness.
Why had she ever left it?
She leaned her head back, inhaling deeply and letting a calm come over her body as she tried to let some of the tension out of her muscles, but the familiar scent returned, awakening her as the hope of seeing the one she loved lifted her moods. Now this time the mouse felt certain she smelled residual smoke and heard a soft roar of fire coming into being, but it drew very close and indeed seemed to be reaching an apex as she looked up to see a glowing platform far above her head.
His back was swiftly retreating, however, and she was too tired to attempt keeping up with the oni at the speed he was going. It had been a long time since she'd flown herself anywhere, though she retained the ability should she ever need it.
Taking in a deep breath, the mouse shouted up through the canopy of trees. "Honey! I mean... Takashou-sama!"

He had started his ascent and flight through the air when he heard a call from behind him, barely able to discern what the creature was saying. Still it was a familiar voice, one that hardly belonged in the forest, as he glanced over his shoulder in that direction. Narrowing his eyes, it was hard to make out any figures through the cover of the trees' leaves, he noticed, especially if that woman had been in her rodent form.. he'd never come to see her from this angle.
Dropping down from the sky, his form rushed passed some trees, though avoided the branches before his shoes came to touch down on the forest floor. He stood upright as he began to move. "Atilla?" The oni asked out loud, his eyes gazing and scanning as he walked forward in search of the angel he was sure had called out his name. The oni then wondered if he'd been foolish enough to follow on what might have been his imagination. "Heh, I must miss her.."

The mouse watched the man stop, then descend, her embarrassment invisible until she decided to shift up to her human form in a burst of amorphous light.
She held her blade in her hand and walked forward shyly, a luminescent blush coloring her cheeks. Despite everything, she was still a very reserved person. Making her way across the fallen log she'd been sitting on, she left the insects to their struggles and parted the bushes in expectation of finding her husband. After a short amount of time, she spotted him. "I am here..." she responded back, her eyes on him, then on the weapon in her hands, then on the ground. "I was... practicing a little bit. It is nice to find you out here, I believe I am lost..."

So she was out here after all. That was surprising, especially since usually she had seemed terrified of the place were he not by her side. The oni chuckled lightly as she came into view, a grin on his face. "Practicing, huh? Fighting oni on your own all ready?" He regarded the blade with a little interest, but spoke nothing of it as he neared her and wrapped an arm around the woman's waist, his other hand coming under her chin to tilt her head back up to him as he embraced into the woman with a deep kiss. As he pulled back, he smirked to her. "You can't be shy around me, anymore. As cute as your red cheeks are, I'd rather see your smile on that face. Heh." Shou released her from his comfort, taking a step back as he averted his gaze to the side, slightly inclined towards the sky. "There's something I'm trying to find in this forest.." Taking a glance to her from the corner of his eye, he asked her with a snicker. "You feel like tagging along?"

A grin did indeed come across the woman's face as Shou's arms came to be about her waist and they kissed, her eyes closing and her nervousness melting away. She covered her mouth with one long sleeve when he left her, feeling better for the interaction. "I will try."
Everyone knew a lot of treasures and secrets were hidden out in these woods that Gen Sai's descendants had failed to urbanize. She wasn't one to hunt for treasure all that much, knowing that her real wealth was in heaven and that she would claim it after a long and illustrious career helping mankind deal with their devil infestation; however, she was always up for fun stuff with Shou, and fun stuff included long walks or flights in the woods.
"Yes, I would love to..." she said with a very quiet sort of excitement, moving forward and taking his hand. "Do you know what this thing is you are searching for?"

Shou was glad to hear that he would have the woman's company. Especially if he did come across the two demons he was hunting, her help would be neccessary.. and with that aid, he was sure he could crush the both of them where they stood. "Not a thing, but a person. A demon like myself, I hear." The oni replied, taking his hand into her own as his gaze returned outwardly into the forest. "He's known as the Dark Apprentice.. I'm not sure what it is that he does, but he has some information that I wouldn't mind knowing." He began to ascend from the ground once more, atop the disc of flame that had appeared under their feet, bringing Atilla with him out over the treetops. "This could be a long search.. up here, at least, we don't have to worry about too many fights along the way." At least he had hoped not. He might have enjoyed a fight, but he moved with purpose now.

Atilla stopped for a minute, recalling the Dark Smith she'd run into recently and, even farther back, meeting a young demon in the shop. He worked under the Dark Smith, had a perpetual scowl whenever the rat had seen him and always seemed to have a lot on his mind, but none of that lot good. She shook her head, even if such old knowledge was still useful or relevant, she wouldn't want to go talking about it. Her past was something she'd rather leave buried.
"There are bird devils..." she said quickly and haltingly, her tone suspicious as she talked less out of concern and more out of a desire to drown out the familiar thoughts running through her head. "Giant devil... cocks... chickens I mean..."

"Heh. But clear skies, for the meantime." Shou stated, oblivious to the memories and thoughts of the woman as his gaze remained forward, scanning the tree tops for any signs or clues that might have led him to the Dark Apprentice's whereabouts. The oni wasn't worried about bird demons since there didn't seem to be any about at the moment, and knowing full well that minor spirits like that wouldn't hinder him any. He sighed then, realizing he really had no idea what he was looking for.. some type of house, perhaps? This was a blind search, and the forests were very vast. "Bah.. maybe we should ask around for this place."

The kami suddenly realized how very far up they were and clung to the oni's waist. "Oh yes... I imagine that fellow is very famous among the demons here, or... umm, so I heard. Do you think they will give you directions because you are their same species?"
She hadn't interacted much with the oni very much other than almost getting raped since she'd assumed this body. It seemed as though Shou might lose respect carrying one around as a lover. "I guess we could always threaten them for directions after all..." she said vacantly.

"Heh.. I've all ready turned my back on my kind. Hell, I might even have a reputation myself around here." The oni stated, before his eyes went down towards the forest. Finding some information would be vital if he didn't want to spend the entire day searching, certain that he couldn't scan the entire wood in a tenday. He would eventually drop from the sky and find an oni in question, one that was relatively easy to deal with since it had been in its humanoid form.
The crack of an arm greeted the fyre demon's ears, his foot planted against the back of the woman's neck, forcing her face first into the dirt as he brought her limb around in an angle that was threatening to break at the bone. A grin was set in place as he leaned forward some, "Now that I got you here, we can talk.. so start." He demanded as the female oni lifted her head off, grimacing as she tossed aside some of the blonde strands of her hair from her face. "Bastard.." As he angled her arm backward, she yelped out before grunting out a sigh of defeat. "Fine! Fine.. I know of the Dark Apprentice. But even should you find him, you're not gonna like what you come across." She seemed to chuckle some after that, and Shou snickered. "You know something interesting, then.. tell me." With that he suddenly jerked her arm to the side, bringing about the snap of the bone as her scream echoed throughout the forest, his hand snatching up her other as soon as he was done and putting her in the same position.

Atilla winced at the display of excessive force upon the thus far unoffensive female oni. Perhaps it was because her heart naturally went out to other females who were being antagonized; perhaps it was because the thing was in human form. It was hard sometimes to recall that they weren't really supposed to be on Yochi and were thus subject to suspicion and even punishment.
She looked around, knowing that the woman's screams might draw unwanted attention if she happened to have a boyfriend or a father or any relatives at all. "Please be a little quieter, ma'am..."

Shou chuckled lightly, seeming to enjoy it and not minding the volume of the woman's screams at all. The woman seethed, glaring Atilla's way as the woman seemed to ask the impossible of her. "You're not having your arms broken, are you, you little bitch?!" The woman shouted and yelped again as her other arm began to twist back around. "Ara ara.. you really don't have time to be spouting that. Tell me what you know." She winced and finally relented. "A guardian.. a strong one protects the Dark Apprentice. You'll never make it passed that.." The male chuckled, not so convinced, removing his foot from the back of her neck and hoisting the woman back up onto her feet, still holding her arm. "There ain't a damn thing in this world that can match up to me.. now, we'll have you guide us there. I didn't break your legs, so that shouldn't be a problem, eh?"

The kami winced much more, having been yelled at in a profane manner and not liking it very much at all. She wanted so badly to just reach out and heal the woman, but that was because of her recent days in heaven. Namely, she could kill something with no problem, but seeing it tortured...
She forced the thoughts out of her mind, averting her eyes because a small piece of her, the piece stemming from her darker nature, enjoyed seeing women tortured, and that's what made her want to help and heal them all the more.
"I apologize for my insensitivity..." she said to the wounded demoness shortly, preparing to walk on to the place where this apprentice supposedly stayed.

Both the demons looked to Atilla a little incredulously, before Shou simply chuckled, knowing Atilla all too well himself, and kicked the demoness ahead of the pair so that she might lead on. Were she to try and escape, Shou didn't doubt that he could bring the woman down once more.. and from the display earlier, nor did she. "You don't have to apologize to scum like this, Atilla." The oni informed her, beginning to walk behind the demoness who started down the forest, seeming sure of where she was headed. "If she was strong enough, she'd have both our heads for sure.. don't forget that demons are chaotic creatures, still, and you being an angel.. heh, you know how the oni around this forest react to that." A kami would have been a great prize to kill for any of the demons here, though Shou had set that prize into different terms.

Another luminescent blush came to the space over the kami's nose as she recalled... what were their names? Blake and Suella. How could she ever forget them and... what they almost did to her? A tangible disgust crawled through her flesh and she shuddered briefly, trying not to think about it as her gratitude to the oni before her grew with the memory. She sped up a little bit so she could walk besides Shou and try to explain her moral dilemma. "But... what is the difference between a spirit with control like yourself and a spirit without control like... that Blake creature? When I arrived at this plane, I thought all of the onikonjou were evil. I had never met one, but when I met you and I found how much we... are not so different after all, I wonder if there are other spirits out there like yourself," she looked off into the bushes as though she were talking to someone in them. "...a demon with an inner light..."

Inner light? The oni questioned whether something inside of him existed. "Heh.. you really give me too much credit there.." Shou mumbled lightly, before glancing towards Atilla as she looked outward into the forest. He knew the difference between he and the common demon though, knew it for that key trait was before him even then. A smirk came across his expression as he looked forward once more. "The difference is you, Atilla. Thats all." After all, she kept him at bay from his chaotic impulses, reminded him of what it was like to be human once more, reminded him of that long forgotten emotion of love. The trees around them began to lessen and clear, steadily and gradually, while the landscape began to incline as they made their way up a small hill.

The kami's brow furrowed in thought as she walked along silently, turning over that short phrase in her mind. If she was wrong, it would fit in with everything else she knew about the onikonjou so far, as with the exception of Shou, every other oni or person possessed by an oni acted in a destructive and sinful manner. Did that mean this one that she trusted so much was only good to impress her, to bed her because of her purity even? And what of when she wasn't around, did he keep his promise not to kill humans? Would he perhaps turn on her one day when he was through having his fun?
But she immediately felt guilty for allowing such questions as the latter to pass through her mind. Whether his intentions were evil or not, he'd still preserved her from some... no, many of the evils of this plane that had claimed many kamikonjou more disciplined than she and that she would've fallen prey to had it not been for his vigilance. Moreover, he was her husband now and she would not allow herself to harbor such poisonous thoughts about him.
"I appreciate your humility," she said sincerely, seeking to replace her suspicion with love. "And I owe you much credit. I would be very dead were it not for your intervention, and who says a demon has to care?"

Write For You [Bonding Quest] Empty

"Don't worry about things like that." Shou stated, his gaze now remaining forward as it seemed the scenery around them was changing with the decrease in trees. His eyes narrowed as they neared the top of the hill and the woman turned and halted her leading. "Over this hilltop.. in a small hut is where the Dark Apprentice lives. I can't go any further than this, though.." Shou rose an eyebrow, wondering if it was some trick on her part to escape from them. "Show me." He would demand, untrusting of the oni and knowing their nature. She seemed taken aback, but gritted her teeth and resigned, "Fine." She turned once more and headed to the top of the hill, the fyre demon following behind her before they reached the top. Looking down at the other side, a hut rested there sure enough at the bottom, only surrounded by a few trees. She had mentioned a guardian, but from what he could see the place almost seemed abandoned without care.
"I see.. you've cooperated well." The oni would remark, before Mabushiiken flashed forth from its sheath and thrusted into the woman demon's chest. A stunned expression overcame her, hardly registering the movements that followed as Shou brought his blade back from her and kicked her in the stomach down the hill to tumble and roll down. His movements remained on the flailing body as it continued its descent before it came to a stop. His suspiscions held true as the earth seemed to part and a claw came forth, the body of a large beast crawling forth from it. It made its way towards the body and sniffed it a few times before recognizing it as all ready being dead. Its red glowing eyes then glanced up the hill and spotted the pair, roaring aloud in their direction though not making any movements of advance.
"That'll be the guardian then." He stated, his blade still in hand at his side as he looked down towards the thing, obviously a chimera as it possessed the qualities of several animals blended into one. Its tail was slender and ended into the head of a snake that curled up to look to them as well, issuing a light hiss. The head was that of a lion, a trait that struck the pride of Shou with some anger. From its back were two large dragonic wings, and its spine seemed to be plated and external, running along down its back to the snake. Shou snickered, "Looks tough."

The kami sighed in relief before looking around and noticing that the trees were indeed tapering off. The open space made her a little bit nervous, and she walked very closely behind the demon pair before they suddenly came to a stop and the woman outlived her usefulness.
Of course, the demoness wasn't human, so she wouldn't go through the trouble of trying to revive her, but instead said a short prayer, a prayer in her usual chanting language expressing her wish that when the woman was reborn as a human, she would be virtuous and good and follow the narrow paths of righteousness.
She'd hardly finished her supplications before some monster appeared before them. "Very fierce," Atilla said somewhat redundantly. She clutched her rosary and dissolved into light, reforming as a mouse on the oni's shoulders. "I suppose he will not leave his home to attack us up here," she said, clasping her hands together and beginning to count off her beads, a syllable corresponding to each number. "Maiorem hac dilectionem nemo habet... Ut animam suam quis ponat pro amicis suis." *
She said the words quickly, and as she did a light, gold mist rose from her body, settling over the oni.

"Heheh.." The oni lightly chuckled, feeling the enhancements of power that Atilla placed over him. "This oughta be fun!" Shou shouted before suddenly starting down the hill in a dash, surpassing his normal speeds. While Mabushiiken remained at his side, fire seemed to flare around his form suddenly, taking on the shape of scimitars that moved with him. They then shot outwards towards the chimera and the creature roared once more, a blast of fire emitting from its gaping mouth. It shot forth and consumed the blades in their progress, but was extinguished afterwards as the two attacks came to cancel eachother out. Shou was there then, grinning as he kicked off the ground and passed the chimera by, his blade flashing as he scored a hit on the thing's neck. It was a muscled creature, though, a large one at that, and the attack didn't effect it so much. Even as he passed through the air to the side, the snake's head seemed to whip out towards him, blasting a ball of dark energy his way. The oni grunted, bringing his arms and sword out in front of him to block the attack, but he was pushed back and away from the creature, his feet coming to skid lightly across the grass and dirt. As the chimera turned in his direction once more, Shou huffed out a sigh as his movements came to a stop, grinning. "Just as I expected.. tough."

Atilla clung bravely to the oni's shoulders as he attacked the beast instead of retreating to his pocket, where she ordinarily spent battles. The thing didn't seem to be budging, though, which she found troublesome. Ideally, she could pitch in with some water spells, but she didn't want to interfere with the efforts of the fire oni beneath her.
"Maybe he has a weak spot..." she volunteered, her fur puffed up as she fearfully eyed the snake. "Yes... that... creature on it's behind. It does not seem as well muscled as the rest of the creature. Perhaps you could bleed it to death. Levavi oculos meos in montes, unde veniet auxilium meum?"*
A distance away, a large, sparkling raincloud would form and begin to drop dry, blue drops of magic. The wind would blow the particles in a way that they touched the twain standing against the chimera, but not the chimera himself.
The kami knew what came next should the oni decide to move, and clung on tightly, her little claws digging into the fabric of the other's shirt as she braced herself. Whether or not he took her suggestion, she knew when he charged next it would be very fast. Recalling the last time she'd double buffed him in such a way was nearly sufficient on its own to make her motion sick.

His red orbs went to the tail of the chimera at Atilla's suggestion and he gave a nod of his head. Though a red slit had appeared at the beast's neckline, it wasn't a hit he could boast about. Of course, he could always choose to wear the monster down with several of those cuts, seeming more than capable of dodging it and out manuevering it. Especially with the new strength that was provided to him then. "Lets make it quick then." The oni would say, before suddenly dashing forward from his spot, his feet leaving the ground as a disc of flame came under him to guide him through the air towards the snake. Another black orb came his way, and Shou countered it by swiping his right arm forward, using the ring's power to bring a blast of flame to collide into the magic. They were cancelled out while the fyre demon passed through the spot where they negated one another, Mabushiiken flashing forward as it sliced the snake's body away from the rear of the chimera. The lion gave a great roar once Shou had landed back down on the ground, putting some comforting distance between the himself and the raging beast. It turned once more to him, seemingly calmed with a stern visage, while the oni's eyes slowly came to widen at the sight of the regeneration. The stump that had been the snake's base began to slither outwards, extending, led by another snake head that had taken up the last. It grew out to be a complete tail once more. Another startling realization was that the wound on the beast's neck had closed up as well. "Heheh.. this thing might be too tough." Shou commented, raising Mabushiiken out before him, "We could be in trouble."

The mouse felt dizzy and more than a little ill, slumping once they'd come to a stop so her body hung from the shoulder instead of actively sticking. Her eyes became steady to witness the thing's restorative powers. "You may be right, but I take comfort in the fact that it cannot chase us any distance away." As a rat, she couldn't help but eye the snake suspiciously. "I suppose you will simply have to blow it up if brute force cannot stop it, but at the same time your sword attacks should be more powerful..." she said thoughtfully. "Maybe your fire would do more damage if the creature was very, very cold first."

"Its a big creature.. and it seems intent on guarding that hut there." The crimson orbs went to move to the small building, before noting the opening of the chimera's mouth. "Tch!" Shou leapt from his spot, allowing a flame disc to put some distance from the location as it was engulfed in the beast's fire. Landing back down on the ground, he wondered if his own magic would be enough to down the chimera, as the blasts it emitted seemed enough to match his own. Her words didn't make too much sense to him since he didn't see how he could bring about a cold over the creature.. his magic only focused on burning. "In any case.. it looks like this isn't something I can hold back against. I'll have to go all out." The oni replied, grinning as flames began to whirl around his entire form, starting from his feet and encircling him on their way up. They consumed his being from outsiders' views, as the transformation took place within.
Coming out of the fire, his strengths boosted considerably, while his appearance was more beast like in nature. "Heh! I'll show you a true lion's power!" The demon shouted to the face of the chimera, challenging the lion within that unnatural bonding.

Atilla thought for a moment, recalling her own small arsenal of water spells. Though the waters weren't as cold as an ice attack might allow them to be, they came out pretty chilly, and steam could be very, very deadly.
The fire startled her a bit, but because of her trust in the lion, she didn't believe they would bring her to any harm as they got closer and eventually concealed the pair from sight. The second the fire cleared, however, she counted off a few beads, concentrating for a moment as the other shouted.
Suddenly, her eyes snapped open and she raised the necklace to the sky, her voice echoing in her throat as she shouted out, "Open the floodgates of heaven," the arms came down and forward towards the chimera. "Let it rain!"
The clear sky would suddenly birth some swirling, dark clouds, ones that would surround the beast within a vortex of murky rain and chilling winds. They were outside of the area of the attack, however, and she reaffirmed her grip on the other, panting gently from the effort of the unfamiliar technique.

The oni blinked as the woman had chanted, and viewed the results of such a thing. He'd never been outside of the tsunami technique before, so to look at it now he could admire such a level of technique coming from the little rodent. It changed the atmosphere around the chimera entirely, drawing the beast's attention away from himself as he furrowed his brow. Go! He commanded himself with a thought, dashing forward once more and coming onto the disc of flame. "Infernal flames! Spread your unrelenting chaos!" He shouted as he neared, red rings flying from his form to spread out among the area. "Raaaaaaaa!!" The oni roared, pushing through the fierce winds and the chill of the air to thrust Mabushiiken forward, its tip piercing cleanly into the lion's forehead before hell fire suddenly rushed forward and consumed the large monster in its flames.
Landing outside of the range of Hell's Echoes, the oni thrust his blade through the air to flick away the chimera blood from the metal. He turned to regard the chimera, as a roar of anguish echoed throughout the forest as the fire continued to burn at its form. His attacks had every bit of force that he could muster behind them and he wasn't displeased when he heard the giant thing fall to the ground with a loud thud. The fire would die away a moment later, revealing that fallen form as the ground seemed to draw it in once more, returning to the underground from where it had came. "Phew." Shou wiped at his brow while his hair fell back around him, long and flowing, while the animal traits faded from his body.
"Ha! It's great to have you by my side, as always." The oni would say to the rat, giving it a gentle stroke atop its head. "There's no way I could have done this without you."

Everything went so fast after that, and the storm broke away to reveal a firestorm, and the chimera with a sword lodged in its head and fire consuming its body. The mouse didn't relax at all until the thing was definitely, certainly, beyond a shadow of a doubt dead. She really liked Shou's hair, she decided as he petted her and she bruxed cheerfully.
She came into her human form once more, deciding such a form would be more befitting to accompany him further in, now that the danger was apparently past. "I am glad I was able to help," she said, a large, appreciative smile coming over her face before she turned to look at the hut.

The oni snickered as she came into her human form, before following her gaze towards the hut that housed the Dark Apprentice. "Well.. didn't come all this way for nothing." Shou stated, slipping Mabushiiken back into his sheath before turning towards the home. He made his way towards it, coming to the door and thinking to knock. There had been an awful lot of noise out here as he and the chimera had done battle.. that might have been knock enough. Instead, his hand went to the door and pushed it open, stepping into the place. A fireplace greeted his eyes at first, giving the room its light for it seemed there wasn't any electricity present to the place. There were several weapons that lined the walls, and Shou came to remember the reputation of the Dark Apprentice being the student of the Dark Smith. Of course, it was a little disappointing to see that there was no Inferne or the other demon present, but he still hoped to find some clue.
Upon a chair in front of the fireplace was where the demon sat, the oni's eyes drifting towards his lap as he saw a pet-sized version of the chimera he had just defeated outside. "What the..?" He started, confused as he saw a cut across the thing's head, also noting the light singes at its paws. Was it the same creature he had just assumed he killed?
"You certainly did a number on him.. I don't think he's ever had wounds this bad before." The man on the chair stated out loud, glancing over his shoulder to the pair. "I suppose you'll be wanting my services, then?"

The kami held on to the other's hand as they went into the darkness of the poorly lit hut. Dark places tended to scare her just a little bit, and she stayed close to her friend, almost jumping out of her skin at the fun-sized chimera and his master.
"We are sorry about your pet..." she began, for the moment accidentally forgetting what Shou had told her about not apologizing to demons. "We will be happy to patronize your business for your trouble."

The man regarded the angel with a respectful nod, before his attention was on the demon. "Dark Apprentice." The oni stated, looking to the man in the chair that had regarded him. The demon smith stood up from his seat and stood to his full height as he turned towards them. He was most certainly a smith who must have gotten quite a deal of practice, proof of his chorded muscles that lined gigantic arms. Though they had defeated the chimera, Shou wondered whether the demon before them posed an even bigger threat to him. "I'm searching for demons.. two of them." He stated, deciding to state his business up front rather than ponder on what it was this man specialized in. "Dark-haired brothers, one named Inferne who has fire magic. The other wears a yukata with several blades.. have you seen them?"
The man didn't need any moment to think on it, having recalled the duo just earlier that day as he gave a nod. "They too fought the chimera.. it hadn't even had the chance to fully recover before the two of you took it on. I won't demerit your success in beating it, though, but its a little odd to be askin' about my customers, wouldn't you say?" Shou simply shook his head, as if it didn't matter, pressing more questions. "What was it that they came here for? Do you know where they were headed from here? Are you allied with them in any way?"
The Dark Apprentice simply held a hand up to stop the fyre demon, before he lowered it. "They were customers. Nothing more. I have the ability to imbue weapons into a host's body." Though Shou had been seeking information concerning the brothers, he blinked at the man's claim. "Eh..?"
The smith chuckled, seeing he would need to demonstrate as he had several times before. He extended his arm out, displaying a line of symbols that ran down the bulges of his arm. His other hand went to it, holding his palm over the tattooed design before it began to glow. Suddenly a warhammer phased through the flesh and into his grasp, lowering it down to his side. "As I said." The smith stated, as it were answer enough.

Atilla didn't understand who the people were Shou was asking about, as evidenced by her very confused expression as he asked about them. "No treasure?" she interrupted, feeling dumb before the apprentice showed off his skills. I don't remember him knowing how to do that... he's gotten much bigger as well... the rat thought as the gigantic warhammer came into being out of nothingness.
She grew a little bit less shy now that he seemed to want to serve them and had no intentions of attacking, and she stood next to Shou regarding the weapon with a bit of wonder. "So you can bind weapons to yourself... I have not seen such a thing for a long time." Her eyes drifted to the side where the other weapons hung, and she thought back to her own tail blade. It would be handy to have it simply manifest on her body when she transformed, or rather, it would go a long ways towards helping her be able to defend herself when the oni wasn't around.

The oni glanced in the direction of the angel, surprised that she seemed to have witnessed this type of magic before. "Would you two be interested then? Its something of a reward to those strong enough to defeat Tiny." Shou's jaw dropped after hearing the name of such a beast, "T-tiny..? Eh.." He shook his head and the thought away, then nodded. "It seems like a fine ability.. I wouldn't mind having a weapon on me at all times, then." The oni snickered, drawing forth Mabushiiken from his sheath as he held it out in front of him. "All right, Dark Apprentice. I choose this weapon here." He decided, thinking it as simple as that.
"I'll need payment of course." The fyre demon's left eye twitched following that statement. Some reward..

The angelic spirit looked kindly upon Tiny. When he was in his smaller form like this, he was more than a little cute. Perhaps if the tail had been a rat's instead of a snake, her thoughts would've turned to starting a family.
But as things were, they were in some devil's dark, cozy house and for that reason she had to remain alert, though not tense. "Are you sure, Takashou-sama?" she asked, looking in her satchel for her wallet.

"All right." The oni decided, figuring that whatever payment this man might not have been such a big deal. He held up a hand to the angel, a gesture for her to put her satchel away. "You've been giving me too many gifts, Atilla." The oni would say with a smirk forming, "I can cover this cost." The smith nodded approvingly, looking between the two. "So will you both be wanting my services? Do you have a weapon?" He asked, looking to the kami.

Atilla blinked, at the statement that he would pay, but realized that yes, last she recalled the lion oni had a job and, as a man and a type of creature always stereotyped as having a lot of pride, he'd probably want to pay for his own things whenever they weren't covert gifts as she'd been getting lately. She smiled for a moment until the Dark One addressed her. "Umm..." The kami looked suspicious, even doubtful. Were it not for her recent enlightenment from her past life, she would've never gone along with this, but as things were, the Dark Smith used to provide quality work. No doubt he would've instilled the same virtues of craftsmanship and sharp business sense in his apprentice, though it seemed odd that he would put such a barrier between his customers and his service. Perhaps he had an influx of teen aged demons trying to be rebellious or... something, or maybe he got too many requests a day; it seemed like a service that would be in great demand.
Thus, looking at the Dark Smith with a skeptical sort of glare and not turning away, she exchanged her wallet for her fitted tail blade from her satchel. "Only this," she said slowly. Obviously she was having second thoughts about the whole thing, or rather, she would want to know how the procedure went before she allowed it to be performed upon her body. Despite all the knowledge she gained from being a demon, the stereotypes from her education as an angel persisted at times.

The fyre demon's brow lifted lightly as Atilla produced a sharp and odd shaped blade from her satchel. He hadn't recalled the woman ever possessing a weapon, and even if she had, he wouldn't have suspected it to be a blade. The thought of the angel becoming capable of drawing blood brought a smirk to his features before he looked to the Dark Apprentice. "Then I'll pay for both services. Heh, it's decided then." The oni would hand over his blade to the Dark Apprentice who took a moment to study the work of humans, even feeling the power the blade could invoke and appreciating its nature.
Nodding, he'd look to Shou, "You are ready?" The fyre demon nodded, pulling up his shirt over his chest. "I'm wanting it right here." He stated with a grin, poking at the side of a well-toned abdomen.

Despite their time being married, Atilla still found it hard not to oogle when the demon took off his shirt. She oogled for a good several seconds before she shook her head briefly and looked around the residence briefly until she found some sufficiently cushy seating. Dusting it off with several swift swats of her hand, she examined it before stiffly sitting down, still on her guard, her suspicions escalating at the sight of the large, pointy implements and small vat of boiling ink over the fireplace. "Are you sure about this, Takashou-sama?" She said, not hiding her suspicion at all. They didn't have tattoos in koutaku-shi, thus, she was unfamiliar with the concept of a tattoo needle.

"I'm sure." The oni stated, not missing a beat. The Dark Apprentice simply nodded before he paced over to the vat. Slipping some gloves into place over his hands, and hoisted it off from its position over the fireplace. Resting it on the floor before Shou, he held the katana over the boiling substances. Dropping Mabushiiken, it slowly sank, glowing brightly as some magic seemed to take place, emitted off the muscular man as he chanted low under his breath.
He took a single tool that had been hung on the wall as well, its handle etched with several runes that seemed to overlap one another throughout the design of its golden hilt. The blade on it narrowed out to a fine, sharp point that he would dip into the vat as well before his sights came upon the oni's revealed flesh. "Brace yourself." The man would say, and Shou only smirked, feeling more than capable of enduring that pain.

He sure seemed confident, at least Atilla thought so as he hardly flinched at the large... cutting thing that held murky ink... murky ink that had sharp metal dissolved in it. He hardly seemed scared or even as apprehensive as she. Atilla simply sat, a very quiet, gentle hiss coming from her throat as the needle loomed over his skin.
The kami didn't want to see him get cut by that thing and despite his attitude she felt the need to at least do something about it. There was an old spell she'd known back in heaven but had never found a real reason to recall or chant it on Yochi. She'd memorized the scripture connected to it, however, and began to mumble it low under her breath. The sound almost seemed a complaint, but the sound prevented her hissing and kept her mind occupied as she counted off her beads once again. "Caritas numquam excidit sive prophetiae evacuabuntur sive linguae cessabunt sive scientia destruetur."*
A light mist would surround her body in the dimly lit the corner she sat in as the marker approached the oni's skin. The dark blue fog would wrap around the area of his abdomen near the needle briefly before dissipating, the effect taking hold as Atilla looked away from the scene and stared very hard at the fire beneath the cauldron of ink.

The fyre demon didn't seem to notice the technique that Atilla had placed over him, his crimson orbs focused on an uninteresting spot of wall, allowing him to concentrate away from the pain that was sure to come. The Dark Apprentice hesitated briefly, before glancing over to the angel, understanding what it was that she had done from the light mist that seemed to rise off of her body. He shook his head, wondering if she was suited to withstand something like this twice while sparing this demon of all the pain. Surely there was an interesting bond between the two of them, this angel and demon, one that he suspected was beyond the limitations of friendship.
"Hmph." The Dark Apprentice disregarded the thoughts and continued his work, the sharp point coming to press against the fyre demon's skin and begin its work to magically ink the flesh. Shou concentrated his gaze ahead, feeling the presence against his skin, though he seemed void of any pain. He couldn't help but chuckle lightly. "Brace myself? For this? Heh! This is nothing."

The mouse flinched very hard at the touch of the needle against the other's skin, bending over the left arm of the chair and clenching her teeth together with a determination not to scream and thus give away what she'd done. The sounds that did escape her were something like shrill whines far above the human register of hearing, a less noticeable version of the shriek of pain she felt like unleashing through the home. Her grip on the furniture grew tighter and tighter, her eyes closed shut until she suddenly thrashed, pressing her head and back into the chair she sat on, curling up and panting. Her nerves weren't attuned to handle such a pain, and the feeling was sufficient to dilate her eyes and leave her panting, staring still at the primary light source of the room. He may as well have been disemboweling her, she thought fuzzily as she put all of her energy into holding the technique. Now that she knew the pain she was holding her beloved demon from, she felt even more compelled to continue holding it back, but as the procedure went on the decision was no longer hers. None of the angels really liked this technique, and she had been among them, merely learning it and never training it due the fact that she'd never thought she'd have to spare someone from suffering. She had her healing and revival skills, after all. A little pain is worth it to be saved from death and injury.
Now, her lack of practice and incapacity to handle the burning of the knife came in to play as the mist slowly leaked back to her body against her will, her breaths coming slow and deep as she stared at the air above the middle of the floor, panting and recovering from the flood of sensation.

"Easy!" The oni exclaimed, allowing his shirt to drop back down to cover up the new tattooed designs of rune symbols along his body. He noticed it burned a little, as the ink seemed to settle in before he glanced Atilla's way, noting that she looked rather exhausted upon that chair. "Hey, Atilla.. you all right? You're not tired, are ya? It's your turn after all." The oni taunted while sticking out a tongue. "No worries, though." The fyre demon continued, pacing over to her to pat her lightly on the shoulder. "It doesn't hurt one bit!" He stated with a confident grin.
The Dark Apprentice only chuckled, knowingly.

The kami couldn't help but give her partner a very wild-eyed look as she tried to sound encouraged, failing to sound anything but weary and frightened. "Really, it isn't? It looked terribly painful from here," she said, shaking out her knuckles and trying to return the color to them as she stood shakily to her feet. Once she stood steadily, she made her way forward to the chair where the dark apprentice had given the previous tattoo, finding her blade with trembling hands. Once aware that she was shaking, however, she shifted her concentration to the task of not trembling. The pain quickly faded after she'd broken the sync, though the mental effect was still there, and she realized with a sort of gloom and horror that nobody was there to take her suffering away.
Shyly, she pulled her sleeves through her robe and dropped it to the floor, revealing her plain shirt and baggy pants. "I should get it where my tail would be in my other form." Her voice was a steady monotone as she looked over at Shou, reaching out serenely. "It did not hurt you, but it may sting me. May I hold your hand?"

Shou blinked, but he couldn't help but smile by the question. The fyre demon paced forward and took her hand in his with a steady grip, looking to her in the eye. "You'll be fine." Though he was undoubtedly more seasoned of a fighter, and more capable of taking pain than the angel, he truly didn't believe she would find this that difficult to bear. Of course, he was oblivious to what she and the Dark Apprentice knew. The smith had to admire the angel for being able to still choose to do this after what she had endured, taking the tail blade in his hands and repeating the process he had with Mabushiiken.
"The ink's a little more cooled after that first one, so it shouldn't hurt as much." The Dark Smith would reassure the angel, before positioning behind her so that he could lift her shirt up from her back, using his thumb to push the pants down only slightly so that he might land the spot right. Of course, he couldn't help but notice it gave him a look at where the woman's cute buttocks began.
Moving his tool forward, he began to pen against that tender flesh.

She was hardly reassured, though the other's voice was gentle and soft. She didn't really like his hands that close to her rear, though she guessed it had to have been necessary. The tattoo hurt less than before certainly, as much of the heat element had been removed, but she still felt the pain on her lower end as she sat on the back of the chair. Her hand closed very tightly around the oni's, her other arm forming a crook in which she buried her head to muffle the noises of her own sobs and shrieks in the heavenly language she chanted with. Her body was too worn out for any more thrashing, however, which meant that besides shivers and tremblings, she stayed relatively still through the procedure.

The sound of the tool being placed down would come next as the Dark Apprentice stood to his feet, announcing that he was finished. Shou had watched the woman through it, a little shocked to see that it had such an effect on her, even with a lessened pain that his own had been. Or so the other demon had claimed. The fyre demon supposed he should be less shocked and more thrilled by the notion that he was stronger than he had originally thought.
The matter of price came, and the oni would pay a total of $4,000 to him, relieved to see that the Dark Apprentice not only accepted human currency but preferred it. "About your question earlier, concerning those two demons.." The man began, drawing Shou's attention. "It's in your best interest not to pursue them.. I knew them both from the time in Hell, and they've become renown figures there. They're extremely powerful, even individually.. to go against them would surely mean death."
Shou's brow furrowed, unconvinced. "They might be strong, but I'll become stronger. I'll surpass and kill the both of them." He would state, and the Dark Apprentice took a moment to study the other demon before nodding. "Don't go after them until you feel you're ready. But in Onitoshi, within the dark city of Arden, is where you can find the one with blades. Inferne himself either spends his time in these woods here or in the enchanted forest of Solvay."
The oni blinked, not having expected cooperation regarding that matter, but he smirked and gave a nod. "Thanks."
