I glance over to Lexi for a moment before I slowly look away as I finish refastening my pants. I glance to the bathroom door for a moment before looking to the two bags of goodies I had gotten not long ago... My attention shifted back to Lexi as I begin to hum again. I bring a hand up and reach out to her, touching her cheek lightly as I watch her. " .... Are you going to finish what you started? " I ask her as I gently rub her cheek a moment before pulling my hand back, allowing it to fall to my side. She had given me what I wanted and in doing so, delayed what she was set on doing, but I was unsure if she wanted to finish with the treatment of my injuries or simply get away from me.

I should have bolted, or run straight to the cashier and begged him for help, but if this day has shown me anything it is that I am absolutely weak and hopeless. I didn't want Lance to leave without his medical supplies, as retarded as that sounded even inside my head. I was seriously following this confessed murderer out of a semi populated considerably safe location to god knows where for god knows what. He could easily lead me to some desolate alley and then slice and dice me until his heart's content. Each time Lance looked back to see if I was still following, I was there with a dazed almost lost expression on my face. I wasn't worried about looking like a space case, the internal battle being waged inside my head was too much distraction. I hardly noticed the clerk's gaze escort us to the door, had I been paying attention I would have seen the mix of bewilderment and spite that it held. Still following behind the man as we reach the sidewalk, I am momentarily blinded by the bright afternoon. We had been in that bathroom for so long I had forgotten that it was still daylight.

After leaving the store, I lead the way down the side walk a few yards before I come to a stop. Turning my head, I glance over my shoulder, looking back at Lexi for a moment before I shift, turning to the side, I bring my free arm up and reach out, offering her my hand, though I was not sure why I was doing such an act... As I offer her my hand I slowly look away from her and begin to glance around, it was still to early in the day to find a place to bed down in for the night, though if I had not ran into this woman I would probably be spending my time right now in an ally alone... I glanced down at the two bags of food and drinks I was holding and began to hum softly, waiting for Lexi to take my hand.

My eyes were glued to Lance's back as he led me along the sidewalk, but they moved to his profile when he stopped and held out his hand to me. He wanted to hold my hand? Seriously? The innocent hand holding thoughts were quickly pushed away by more realistic options. He probably just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to dash off into a passing crowd and make my getaway, or worse to keep me with him in case he thought I would freak out upon seeing wherever it is he was taking me. Even though the rational options sounded more plausible than him just wanting to hold my hand, I still reached out to slide mine into his and linked our fingers instead of taking my chance and running for my life.

When I felt her take my hand, I looked to her again and gave a faint nod, gently tugging on her arm to pull her closer to me. I smile down at her now that she was close, still humming. Shifting again, I begin to walk down the side walk with Lexi not at my side, holding her hand. As I moved down the side walk, I began to look for an ally where I could set my things and maybe sink into the darkness to be alone... As I moved down the street I gave Lexi's hand a gentle squeeze, glancing down at her for a moment before looking away, shifting back to my task of finding a suitable ally, which wouldn't be a hard task in this part of town..

Ok, I know I'm not exactly the most knowledgeable girl when it comes to these kind of situations, but this guy has got to be the most confusing of the male species around. Part of me just wanted to stop right here on the sidewalk, round on him, and demand to know if he was planning on fucking me again or slitting my throat. When I join our hands, he pulls me close, so that we were now walking like a any normal couple headed home with bags of groceries in our hands. The humming had returned, which he'd done before when relatively calm, so was this a good sign or did knowing he was about to sink his blade into my supple flesh provide the calm emotions? The irritation I was starting to feel wasn't even directed at him, though it probably should have been by now. Instead it was directed at myself, because after all that's happened in the past couple hours I was still sticking with him, willingly walking toward whatever came next. Like an ignorant lamb on the way to the slaughter house. One would think that my childhood spent in an orphanage would have granted me a bit more street smarts than I seem to be displaying here today.

I made my way down the side walk in a rather gleeful way, though it could be said that I almost always seem this way, even when things get violent... My humming continues as I lead Lexi down the side walk, still in search. My searching didn't last long, when spotting an ally that seemed good I came to a stop and looked to Lexi for a moment before looking down into the ally, I didn't see anyone else in the ally and that was mainly what I was looking for.. I had shared an ally with humans before... I gave her hand another squeeze and lead Lexi into the ally, a nice dark ally, a large dumpster stood at the mouth, blocking off almost half of the entrance of the ally, providing someone inside with a nice bit of cover to hide from people out side the ally. But, I did not stop at the dumpster, I continued deeper into the ally, the place reeked of decay, trash and other bits of garbage littering the ground, the place would seem unfit for anyone to sleep in and especially someone with injury's, there was no telling what kind of infections one could get while sleeping on the ground in here...

I knew it. He led me to an alley. An alley that would be the perfect place for him to kill me and leave my body to rot among whatever else it was that made this confined space reek. Even while I allow him to lead me into this dank and dismal place, my wide eyes scan the area in horror. How could people sleep in here without throwing up? I guess they must be desensitized to the odor after a while though I couldn't imagine anyone ever growing used to this smell. Hesitantly I let out a little cough and try to speak without taking in too much of the stink. "Where are we going, Lance? Is this some kind of shortcut?" So help me, I prayed that it was just a shortcut instead of our final destination.

When I heard Lexi's words I looked back at her for a moment, a shortcut?... I shook my head faintly as I looked at her " Shortcut? .. No. I have no 'home' these alleys are my 'home'. " I stated as I looked down at Lexi, my grip on her hand loosening some as I watched her " A befitting place for a monster, don't you think? Living amongst he decaying filth the world no longer has use for. " Finally, I released her hand fully and reached up, slowly moving my hand into her hair as I looked at her face " These alleys have been my home ever since I became a monster, the darkness my pillow, the cold chill of loneliness my blanket. "

Oh my god. Mentally kicking myself over and over, I watching the man closely as he explains that he calls this alley and those like it, home. My heart again breaks for him, even though my own story wasn't exactly the stuff heartwarming films are made of, I still couldn't bear the thought of him growing up in such an environment. When he lets go of my hand and moves his fingers into my hair, I gaze at him, my eyes glowing with sadness and sympathy. "You don't have to live like this, Lance. I can help you change your life, if that's what you want." I knew I was only inviting trouble by making this new offer, but I couldn't leave him here, I couldn't turn my back on him now that I saw just what he had to go through every single day.

I let out a light sigh as I gaze into Lexi's eyes, listening to her words as she spoke to me. Since the bathroom, the clawed man had yet to speak to me and I had no idea why he had chose to speak to me now, he had been silent for some time now, leaving me to my own means.. The return of his voice conjures up memories... all of which are bad... Finally, I speak up, breaking my silence, " ... Why would you wish to help me? " I asked, stepping in closer to her, I leaned in and placed a soft kiss on her forehead as I pull my hand from her hair, moving it onto her cheek for a moment before allowing it to come to rest at my side.

I think, with a little effort, we could turn your life around, but you have to want it." When his hand moved to rest at his side, I didn't obviously follow it but did make sure to remain observant in case there was any further movement or a hand strayed dangerously close to the knife. "Do you want a better life?"

I knew, at one point in time, I did want to turn my life around, to undo the things that had been done, go back to the way my life was before I had killed my family and others, but that had been so long ago, before I had conceded to this new life, this life I now had and have had had for years now.. The hand at my side staid lax as I looked down at her, remaining silent for a moment longer before I finally spoke up, my words hesitant at first" I... I don't deserve a better life. "

Oh for the love of rice krispies! This again? Really? I swear if I see another tear come from his eyes I'm going to fish a bullet out of one of the bodies decomposing in this alley and shoot him with it!

As per usual with me nothing similar to my thoughts actually escapes my mouth. Instead I lift a hand to gently cup his cheek and speak to him in a quiet comforting whisper. "Yes you do. The past is the past, all you can do now is learn from it and use what you've done as a reason to change, to grow. Look, I have a second room in my apartment, I use it for storage right now, but in the next couple weeks we could find a second hand bed and basic furniture. Until then you are welcome to the couch. We can find you a day job for food and spending money. I know I'm not the most glamorous person in the world, and I'll probably get on your nerves at least a few times a week, but accepting the offer to be my roommate has to be better than sleeping on the streets, right?" Damn, damn, double damn; shit, fuck... did I really just invite him to come and live with me!?!?!? Where the hell had that come from? I must be losing my mind. The last thing I need to do is give him more opportunity and even reason to murder me. I shouldn't even be telling him where I live, much less inviting him to live there with me.

When her hand comes into contact with my cheek, I lean into it some, closing my eyes as she begins to speak to me. As I listened to her words, I brought my free hand up and placed it over her hand which rested upon my cheek. The offer of a place to stay surprised me and at the same time... deep down it sounded tempting. As she finished talking I opened my eyes again, lightly taking a hold of her hand on my cheek, I brought it around and lightly kissed her palm " .... It does. " were the only words that came from my mouth as I moved her hand back to my cheek, nuzzling into it some as I closed my eyes again, having given into some of her idea...

What's done is done, might as well go with it from here. "We can try it for a week, if you aren't happy living a normal life I won't try to convince you to stay. Give me one week to show you that you do deserve a better life and that it can be a good life." Maybe if he comes to live with me, learns to trust me, and realizes that I am not a threat to him will make him less likely to kill me. Or he could sneak in to my bedroom tonight and carve out my heart. It would serve me right if he did. For once I am glad my parents aren't around to see me be so reckless with my life.

I nuzzle against her hand still, listening to her offer and again, I find my self conceding a little bit to what she had to say... I would give this a week to see how I liked it... Living in her house, in the human world so to speak... Opening my eyes, I give her hand a light squeeze as I smile down at her " .. No one has ever been this kind to me. " I pull hand hand away from my cheek and give it another kiss " I will let you lead the way. " I said, shifting my hand so that our fingers now linked together and I am holding her hand in mine.

After checking to make sure we have all three bags of goodies, I start to lead the way to my apartment. Since I lived almost on the other side of the Lower Commons, it would take us a little while to get there and I guessed I should give him some fair warning. "It might be quite a walk, I live on the other side of the commons. You are alright with that, aren't you?" If he wasn't I could come up with a new plan. I might be carrying enough cash for a cab, or we could wait for the bus to come around again.

When next she spoke to me, I glanced at her for a moment, thinking on what she had just told me... It didn't seem like much of a problem for me, almost all of my traveling was done on foot so I was use to long walks. " Yeah. " I said with a nod, answering her question, I slowly pull my gaze away from her, looking back to the street as I begin to hum again " ... You? " I say, breaking my humming for a brief moment before I begin again.

"Of course I'm fine with it, I like to make the walk when the weather is nice. If it's raining or too cold I take the bus, but days like today, I really like to enjoy the weather." For the most part I would be quiet during the walk, not having much to say and with my mind already preoccupied. I was busy envisioning all the different ways we could decorate his room. What could go where and everything else that goes with it. My biggest problem was going to be finding a way to fit the random things I'd stored in there over the past year and change in to the tiny closet in my bedroom.

I nod faintly to what she had to say, though I didn't care if it was sunny, cold, or rainy out side, I walked and slept in all sorts of weather, it wasn't really anything big to me.. Like her, I did not speak through the trip, though I did hum my little tune as I followed at her side, eyes wandering around at everything, glancing at her from time to time before looking off into the distance, my thumb slowly moving back and forth across her hand, lightly running over her skin.
