The Pleasures of Work

When the sound of the phone fills the room, I pick it up, turning my attention from the note I had to the phone. As I look at the phone, the screen indicates I have a text message. I open the text message and look at what it had to say, a single address and for me to leave right now. After looking at the message I turn my attention back to the note, I couldn't figure out what Lexi wanted to see me for, my hope was that she wanted to spend time together. Now that I had a mission to do, I set the phone and note down before standing and heading to my room to get dressed. Making my way into my room, I move over to my dresser and pull out a shirt then toss it over my shoulder as I walk over to my closet to get a pair of pants. After grabbing a pair of pants I slip them on and put my shirt on before slipping my boots on, " .. I wonder what they want me to do now. " I mumbled to my self as I grabbed my knife and slipped it onto my belt before putting my coat on as I left my room, heading back to the living room. I made my way back into the living room and picked up the phone, glancing to the note, before sticking the phone into my pocket. After putting my phone away I make my way out of the apartment and then begin down the hall. I made my way down the hall and to the first floor of the building and finally out of the building. One outside I came to a stop and pulled the phone out of my pocket again to see what the address in the message. Again I glanced over the address and began walking down the side walk, the address was a park in the Lower Commons so it was somewhere I knew of, and frequented before..

As I made my way down the sidewalk I slipped the phone back into my pocket for the time being, slipping both hands into my coat pockets as I made my way down the sidewalk heading for the park in the message. It didn't take long for me to arrive at the park and when I did I came to a stop and glanced around, I wasn't exactly sure how this worked, was I suppose to just stand here and wait for someone to come to me, or was I suppose to go to them? Man why did they have to make these things so damn hard, why couldn't Psyre just show up and give me my damn mission, at least that way I got the damn mission instead of standing here. My attention was brought away from my search for someone and to the phone in my pocket as it began giving the sign that I had another text message. I took a hold of the phone and pulled it from my pocket and look at the message on it, this one held directions along with a password, wha? .. was this some kind of spy movie? After looking at the message a moment longer I slipped the phone back into my pocket and began walking, following the instructions in the message as they guide me through the park. I made my way through the park, following the instructions in the text message and came to a set of park benches sitting back to back.

As I came to the two park benches I glanced to the man sitting with his back to me, as I pulled my gaze away from him I sat down on the bench and glanced around the park as I began to wait for the one with the mission information to show up. " The sparrow sings. " I heard come from behind me. At first I wanted to turn around and face the man but in the movies they always sit back to back and say the code word before getting the package.. was this moment one of those? After a moment of silence I spoke up " .. Prelude of Redemption. " I said, repeating what I had seen in the text message. I guess it was the right thing to say because seconds after I had said it, the man began to stand up, setting a package down next to the bench before he walked off. As he walked off, I glanced to the thing he had sat down and picked it up as I stood up and began walking away.

With the package in hand I made my way through the park, I wasn't exactly sure when I should open it and see what was inside it so I decided to head home before seeing what was inside it. I made my way out of the park and began down the sidewalk again, this time heading back to the apartment building so I could see what this package I was carrying had in it, though I already knew it had mission orders I didn't know what kind of mission it was going to be.. After finally coming home, I glanced around as I stepped into the apartment and listened for the sound of life in the room. When I didn't hear anything I knew Lexi wasn't here and I was still alone. Nodding my head I made my way back to my room and over to my bed before setting the package down. After setting the package down, I pulled my coat off and tossed it onto the bed before I sat down and picked the package up and opened it. After opening the package, I dumped the contents of it onto the bed next to me. The only thing that slipped out of the package was a document, like the others I had been given before for my other missions. I set the package aside and picked up the document and glanced over it for a moment before I began to look through the information it had.

As I sat on my bed I scanned over the information about the mission, looking over what was set out in it. The information laid out what appeared to be a rescue mission, blah.. Another stupid rescue mission. I continued looking over the information, reading over the data about the person that needed to be rescued and where they are located. From what was set out in the document it appeared the daughter of some wealthy business man had been kidnapped and they want to send someone in to take care of the kidnappers and rescue the young girl that had been kidnapped. I moved on to the information about the ones who had kidnapped the young girl. From the information that was set out in the document, it appeared I would only be going up against a light group of men, though they would be armed. After looking over the information about the men I moved on to where I would find them. I wasn't sure where the building was but the information said they were located in the basement of some building, the only thing I really cared about was where it was and what I had to do, that way I could get to where it was and take care of the mission as fast as I could. As I finished looking over the part about where they where located I moved onto the rest of my mission orders. After rescuing the young girl and neutralizing any and all hostiles a vehicle would pull up and escort the girl away, that was good to know, I didn't have to take care of her after rescuing her.

With everything about the mission in order it was time to be on my way to take care of the mission. I looked over the information about the building and where it was located, committing it to memory before I tossed the file onto my bed. After tossing the file onto the bed I stood up and grabbed my coat from the bed as I glanced around the room for a moment as I thought on how to proceed with this mission. I didn't put to much thought into it at the moment and decided to head out so I could get this done and over with. As I began to head for my bedroom door I slipped my coat back on and made my way out of the room and then out of the apartment. I made my way out of the apartment and back to the sidewalk before I began walking again.

After making my way through part of the Lower Commons, I came to the building where the young girl was being held captive. I came to a stop on the other side of the street and glanced over the building where the young girl would be. It appeared to be a bar but at the moment it was closed. I didn't care about that, this was where the target was and I was going to get in there and rescue the kidnapped girl, blah, stupid mission.. I walked down the sidewalk a bit before I made my way across the street and slipped into an alley before I began backtracking to the building where the girl was being held. I worked my way through the back alleys to the building where they are keeping the young girl. As I came to the building, I paused for a moment and glanced around, looking for a way into the building. My sight fell upon what appeared to be an entrance into the buildings basement. Upon seeing it I nodded my head and made my way over to it to check it out. As I stepped in front of the area that had caught my attention I notice it was a set of stairs leading down to a door. I look down at the door for a moment before glancing around, you figure it would be guarded, but I didn't see anyone..

Making my way down into the opening, I reached back and took a hold of my knife and pulled it from its sheath as I pressed up against the door lightly. As I pressed into the door, I glanced back up the short flight of stairs, I watch the stairs for a moment before turning back to the door as I bring my knife up and press the blade between the door and door jam where the door knob was. After fiddling with the door for a few seconds I was able to force it open with out having to destroy the door its self. As the door swung open, I stepped into the building and pushed the door shut behind me as I glanced around. The poor lighting in the room I had entered made it a bit hard to see but from what I gathered there was no one else in the room since I wasn't being attacked and didn't smell anything. With the immediate area looking clear, I find a secluded area to begin undressing. As I undress I set my cloths aside. Once I was fully undressed I gave into the darkness, allowing the transformation to the true monster begin to take place.

Since I could smell the scent of people not far away I had to remain quiet during the transformation, I held back the grunts, growls, and cry's of pain as my body worked through the transformation. When the transformation was complete I slowly rose to all fours and glanced around the room. I began to move again, sniffing at the air as I followed the scent of human, moving into the room I had entered not long ago and then into a hall. When the sound of voices came to my ears I stopped and glanced at a door a few feet away from me. " Have they given into the demands yet? " A voice said, " No, not yet. They are running out of time. " Another said, " Lets step it up and tell them they only have two hours. ", " Yeah that sounds like a great idea. Make them understand that we are not fucking about. ". There was a brief silence before one of them began speaking again " Yeah. Do you have our money? .... What?!?! You still don't have it?! You have two hours to get the money or we will mail pieces of your daughter to you, starting with her fingers. " As he finished there was a scream from a female before the room was filled with laughter. With the scream I feared they had already done something to the young girl, this was something I couldn't allow, " Come my fiendish friends let us feast. " as I uttered the chant I began to move down the hall towards the door blocking my path.

While making my way down the hall energy began to build into an blob at my shoulder, the amorphous at first and finally forming into an orb. As the orb finished forming I leaped from the ground and crashed through the door. My actions caught the men on the other side of the door off guard. After going through the door I collided with a form and took the form to the ground. " What the hell?! " a voice said as the others in the room turned to look at me. As they turned to look at me, I let out a growl and bite down onto the shoulder of the man I had just taken to the ground, the bite causing him to cry out in pain. While I began to 'nibble' on his shoulder, the familiar I had summoned went into action, four tendrils flew out from the mass of energy and lashed out at the other four men in the room. One plunging through a mans stomach before slicing him straight up the middle. As another tendril cleaved into one of the man's heads, I released the man that I had pinned down, releasing his shoulder and going for his throat as two of the tendrils teamed up one the third man and plunged into his chest before shooting straight up, slicing a 'V' through his chest, cutting him into multiple pieces. The last tendril shot into the forth man's eye socket, piercing straight into the brain and turning around to come out the other eye before retracting. With the men dead, I slowly climbed to my feet as the energy familiar I had summoned dissipates back to normal energy. As it does so I turn my attention to the young girl I was sent her to rescue, looking down at her as she sits in the chair, tied to it and blind folded. When I heard a door bust open, at first I figured it was the men who were going to pick her up but when I heard a gunshot I knew I was wrong. The first gunshot missed me but hit close to the young girl in the chair and before I could react I found my self moving between the young girl and the ones who just busted through the door, moving around her as I put my arms around the chair and held onto her and the chair some, using my body as a shield. The ones who busted the door open took another shot at me, this time there aim was better and hit me. One round struck me and unlike during the full moon, I was susceptible to bullets and other damage. Though my hide offered some resistance, the bullet was still able to pierce through the flesh of my back, the bullet had struck me in the right shoulder. With the bullet, I let out a deep growl as I quickly released the girl and spun around, bringing my arm up with a quick swipe I unleashed one of my attacks at the men, a set of energy based claws ripped through the air and cleaved into the men. However, before they hit the men, another shot was gotten off, this round striking me in the torso before my attack hit the men. When the bullet hit me I let out a light howl of pain, it was never very pleasing when getting injured in this degree..

Before the men could get up, I unleashed another wave of energy claws, the attack cleaving into the two men as the previous one had done, though this one slicing deep and hitting vital organs, ending there lives. With the two men dead, I turn my attention back to the young girl who now was crying as she sat in the chair, cowering in fear.. As I look at her, I reach out with my paw and lightly touch her head, though my actions offered no form of comfort to the scared girl.. Pulling my hand away I looked down to where I had just been shot in the lower torso area, both areas where radiating pain from them. Though I knew it was going to hurt more, I plunged my claws into the open bullet wound on my lower torso, letting out a growl as I removed the bullet. Though I couldn't reach the one on my back, I still had a way to remove it, though it was not as simple as fishing it out. Utilizing a bit of effort and muscle control, I slowly work the bullet out of my shoulder. Once the bullet was out, I turn my attention to the young girl again. I decided against freeing her just yet, she may be even more scared when seeing me like this so I take a few steps away from her and begin to change back. When the change back was finished I look at the girl and speak to her, " .. You are going to be alright. I'm here to save you. " I said as I moved behind the chair and untied her, " .. R-Really? " The girl said as I untied her, once her arms were free she moved them in front of her and rubbed her wrists some, " Your not with those bad me? ". I looked at her for a moment, " No. I was sent here to rescue you. " I said as I helped her stand up and lead her down the hall, leaving the blind fold on her so she wouldn't see me naked.

As we came into the area where I had left my cloths I looked to her again, " Wait right here. I'm going to make sure no one else is out side. ". All I got was a nod as a response and with it I moved over to where I had left my cloths and began to dress. When it came to my shirt I decided to leave it off since I still had two gaping bullet holes, instead I slipped my coat on and fastened one of the buttons on it to keep my chest covered, putting my shirt in my pocket. After I was dressed I removed the blind fold on the girl and lead her out side where a team was waiting to take her home. With my mission over I could return home and since it was getting late I would get to see Lexi to night and from the note she had left get to talk to her and maybe spend some time together..
