Gremlins (spirit awarness quest) Empty
PostSubject: Gremlins (spirit awarness quest)   Gremlins (spirit awarness quest) EmptyThu Oct 29, 2009 12:10 am

Samuel made a few taps on the computer keyboard, the LED display showing a complicated computer code. At least that is what it would look like to a amateur, but in reality it just was some simple code for a flash game he was working on. (Got to modify this line of code here.) Samuel would think to himself as he highlighted a particular batch of coding and deleted it, and he would then typing on his keyboard put replacement code. “That should take care of that particular bug.” He would pull up a list of the rest of the bugs he had to fix, and he would just sigh “Twenty other bugs to fix, but I’ve got work in a hour. My life sucks.” Samuel said to himself as he made a few clicks on his browser and pulled up his email account. He would quickly write out a email to his flash game partner, telling him that he would be slightly behind schedule, but that he would get the rest of the bugs finished before the weekend started. His eyes would scan down the list of spam emails, only giving a sigh at the Nigerian princess that would marry him if he sent money over to an off-shore account. “Just some slave-bot probably.” He would say to himself as he deleted the email and all the other spam emails. Digital Silence would lean back and look at the clock and fifty five minutes before his mind numbing job would commence.

He would rush to take a quick shower before getting dressed in a immaculate white shirt, tie, and khakis, or as he put it the ’gopher attire’. Samuel would bundle himself up against the weather which had turned pretty nasty the last couple of days and put his company laptop into a carrying case. He got out his subway card before pocketing it into his coat pocket, and he would leave his shoddy apartment. Samuel locked up before leaving. He was hoping that no one would get in the elevator with him since he always felt awkward around his neighbors more then likely because he always came off as a geek, and a slob at that. He always pulled a one-eighty, when he went to work wearing an immaculate work clothes that always clashed with his slovenly lifestyle, but whenever asked about (which was never he never had many friends, that weren’t digital), and he would say that since they were paying him that he might as well look his best. Samuel would get lucky and no one would get onto the elevator with him, and he would quickly head to the subway station that was closest to his home. The subway was always part of the seedier parts of Sai city, with bums sleeping in the deeper tunnels, but the stations he regularly used was pretty clean because of him living in the more immaculate part of downtown. It also probably helped that the district also hosted the police force as well.

The ride to his work would be uneventful, and it passed by in the dull drum of a regular day ritual. He would check in with the security guard, and he would head up to his small office which he shared with other tech nerds. Immediately, he would be accosted by his co-workers who had a myriad complaints about their computers. Samuel would give a slight nod of his head as he gave them forms to fill out before going out to fix some of the more serious complaints. “Why wasn’t this taken care of if the entire network is down?” Samuel would complain to himself as he started pulling wires off and examining the large humming nerve center of the building. He would then plug in his laptop and try to connect with the database, but there would be no connection whatsoever. “The hard drive must be fried.” Samuel would say to himself as he unscrewed the database checking out the hard drive he would pull it out. He could see a small distortion on the hard drive. Samuel would rub his eyes thinking he had not gotten enough sleep, but he could still see the distortion having become more clear and distinct. “The fuck is this?” Samuel asked himself as he looked down to see small little pale grey man-things where swarming across the hard drive, tearing it apart; though, it still looked like it was normal. He would hesitantly swipe his hand at the grey things disturbing them from whatever the hell it was that they were doing. They would immediately disperse and suddenly he got a reading from the hard drive as if it had suddenly decided to work once the grey beings had been dispersed. He just dismissed before settling down to another mind numbing day of work.
