Soar On Wings of Shadow Part II

It had been ages since Azrael had been able to fly, and now that he had somehow gained the ability to fly once more, he wanted to soar to the highest point of the sky and the furthest point of the lands, he wanted to soar through the skies all day and night long. " Yeah! I'm flying again!! " he yelled out, being overjoyed at the simple fact that he could now fly once again. While soaring through the air, Azrael, tucked and rolled, barrel rolling back and forth from one side to the other and loopt looped through the air. However, since Azrael had not flown in so long he was a bit rusty at his aerial acrobatics and as he came out of one of his loopt loops Azrael ended loosing control and ended up going into a crash dive towards the ground. As he began to descend into a crash dive, Azrael began to flap his wings and flay his arms around trying to regain control of himself once again, " Damn this isn't good! " Azrael yelled out as he continued to flap his wings in an attempt to regain his stability. Unable to bring himself out of the crash dive, Azrael continued to descend towards the ground once again until it was to late. As he descended, Azrael was thankful he was heading straight for a clearing in the red forest, moments before he finally made contact with the ground, Azrael brought his arms up and crossed them in front of his face in an attempt to help reduce the effect the impact would have. When Azrael finally made contact with the ground he hit the ground and bounced into the air before landing on the ground once more, rolling and skidding across the ground for a few feet before he finally came to a stop. Now that he had finally came to a stop, Azrael let out a brief groan as he tried to climb back to his feet. His attempt to climb to his feet failed as he fell back to the ground and let out another groan. " uughh. D-Damn it.. " Azrael grunted out as he lay there on the ground, pain once again overtaking his body. Though he was now in pain once again, Azrael managed to let out a faint chuckle before it faded away into a groan of pain, " Damn, I can't believe I crash landed. " he said, a smirk crossing his lips as he thought back to his first time learning how to fly and how hard it was, though back then he had people there to help so he wouldn't have a crash landing.

As Azrael continued reminiscing, a large demon began to move out of the forest, having witnessed the crash by the other demon. Before Azrael could continue reminiscing, the sounds of crashing footsteps caught his attention. Azrael lifted his head and looked towards the advancing demon and knew he had to get up, but as he tried, once again he felt pain that began to cause him to fall back to the ground. After the failed attempt, Azrael began to push himself off the ground once again. Before Azrael could get off his hands and knees, the demon was upon him and as soon as it was upon Azrael it lifted a leg and swung out with it, striking Azrael in the side with a powerful kick. The kick sent Azrael flying off to the side away from the demon and again bouncing and skidding across the ground, letting out grunts and groans of pain. After the kick, the demon stood still for a moment, looking over at Azrael as he lay on the ground once again. " Pathetic demon. I'll kill you and become stronger. " the demon that kicked Azrael said as it looked over at the helpless Azrael as he lay on the ground. " Kill me huh. Do you know who I am? " Azrael said as he began to climb back to his feet, turning his attention to the demon that had just attacked him. " I don't care who the hell you are. You are just another worthless demon that cowers in the forest. " the demon said in response to Azrael's comment. Azrael's gaze shifted into a glare as he looked over at the other demon. He had made it a point to stay out of the way of other demons if he could. Since he had non of his powers and no weapon, he had no way to defend himself from other demons so he had to run and get away from them, but it didn't seem like this demon was going to let him run away. " I am Azrael the Angel of Death. " he stated, his gaze still fixed on the demon. There was a momentary pause before the demon began laughing, " Ahahahahaha!!! An Angel of Death?! That's a good one! You are too weak to be one of those guys, now let me show you! " the demon yelled out as he charged straight for Azrael.

When the demon began to charge for Azrael, he glanced around as the thought of running away came to his mind again, however that was out of the question. But how is he going to fight with out any weapons or powers. As the demon came upon Azrael, it launched into an attack, swinging first its right fist then its left. When the demon took a swing at him, Azrael evaded the two attacks from the demon, taking a step or two back each time as he tried to put some more distance between himself and the demon attacking him. The demon let out an angry growl, " Stop dodging insect! ", the demon yelled out as it took another swing at Azrael. This time Azrael was unable to dodge the attack and it sent him flying back onto the ground. Azrael laid there for a moment trying to think of what to do to get out of the situation, he knew that if he didn't do something he was going to be killed by this demon. He needed to come up with some way to fight back against this demon and fast, or else he was going to die. As he thought about this, Azrael noticed the demon as he advanced towards him. Before Azrael could take any further action against the demon or to try and get away from the demon a wave of pain like the one Azrael had experienced before, radiating out from the seal on his chest, began to overtake him once again. Azrael was unable to do anything but submit to the pain as it moved through his body. While Azrael was occupied by the pain, the demon that had been advancing on him was able to get upon Azrael again. Once the demon was upon Azrael again, it let out a low chuckle before it kicked Azrael away, " What's the matter? Paralyzed with fear? " the demon taunted as the kick sent Azrael flying to the side and skidding across the ground. Azrael was unable to do little more then attempt to climb back to his feet however that simple task proved to be more then he could do in his present state. Azrael was unable to do little more then watch as the demon once again began to advance towards him. With his full attention fixed on the approaching demon and the pain, Azrael didn't see the pool of shadow that appeared in the short gap between him and the demon.

Moments after the pool of shadow had taken form, something jumped from the pool of shadows onto the approaching demon and began attacking it. Now that the pool was formed and something had jumped out of it and began attacking, the pain that Azrael had running through him had finally stopped. With the pain no longer effecting him, Azrael was able to climb to his feet and he looked over at what was taking place with the demon and he wasn't sure what was going on at first. As the shadow entity attacked the demon, Azrael glanced around, thinking someone else had come to his rescue, but he didn't see anyone else and no one had come out of the trees. Azrael looked back to the demon and the shadow entity that were fighting, still trying to figure out where it came from. While Azrael was trying to figure out where the thing attacking the demon had come from, another one of the shadow entities came out of the pool of shadows and began attacking the demon. As he watched the shadow entities Azrael began to feel something familiar about the thing attacking the demon. Azrael felt as if he had seen it before some where and then it finally hit him, the thing attacking the demon was an ability he once had before! But how did it appear? It was like his ability to fly, for some reason it came back to him, or did it just spontaneously appear and attack the demon? While Azrael thought on this, the demon managed to get past the shadow entities attacking him and began to advance once again towards Azrael, moving out of the range of the shadows. When Azrael noticed the demon advancing on him once again he began to back up as he tried to remember how to conjure fourth the shadow entity that had been conjured forth a moment ago to attack the demon. As he backed away from the advancing demon, Azrael continued to try and remember what needed to be done in order to preform the spell and then finally a phrase of words came to him and he uttered them aloud, " Dark abyss, swallow the light and reap all. ". For a second after he uttered the phrase, he wasn't sure if he had spoken the right thing to call forth the magical spell he desired, it had been so long since he had used a spell chant he wasn't sure if he got it right.

Before the doubts that he had spoken the wrong chant had taken hold within Azrael another pool of shadow appeared, this one behind the demon. Out from the pool of the shadow came another two shadow entities, this time the two lashed out at the demon's back, drawing its attention away from Azrael and to it. With the attack coming from behind the demon was forced to switch from going after Azrael to attacking and defending against the shadow entities that had come out of the pool of shadow. As the shadow entity began attacking the demon again, Azrael began to back away from the battle. Again he began to think about running, if his magic could keep the demon occupied long enough then he would be able to make a run for it. This thought was quickly bashed to pieces as Azrael remembered who he was, or at least who he still thought he was. He couldn't just run away from a fight like that, not if he could help it. No, he decided he was going to stay until the demon was finished off, and then Azrael would claim the victory over the demon. With coming to this conclusion, Azrael stopped moving backwards and began to hold his ground as he watched the battle between the demon and his shadow entity. With his mind made up, Azrael begins to move back towards the fight between the two. " Who are you going to kill? " Azrael taunted as he watched the fight, " It seems that you are nothing more then talk, unable to back up your petty claims of victory. " he added as a grin began to creep across his lips. The battle between the shadow entity and the demon only lasted a few more moments before the demon finally fell before the power of the shadow entity. As the battle came to an end, Azrael nodded his head faintly as he watched the defeated demon fall to the ground as the last shreds of life left it. With the demon defeated, the shadow entity that Azrael had conjured up with his magic faded away, leaving Azrael alone with the corpse of the defeated demon. Azrael stood his ground for a moment, his gaze fixed on the corpse of the demon. Azrael was only able to look upon the sight of the dead demon a few more seconds before he was engulfed in a dark light and he began to raise from the ground. Seconds after the dark light had engulfed Azrael it burst apart and flared out into two wings. After his wings had taken form Azrael lifted higher into the air and soared off.
