PostSubject: Settozai's Treasury Office   Settozai's Treasury Office EmptyMon Sep 13, 2010 2:45 am

Entry for 9-12-10

Settozai sits in his office flipping a shinny in the air and going over the most recent trade shipments between Mandira and Tara Mura as well as some of the plans for the continued construction here at the Outpost. My military campaign has set certain projects behind schedule as resources and personnel have had to go to supporting the military effort instead of domestic projects. Settozai doesn't particularly care where they go, but he isn't a fan of having incomplete work. As he signs off on certain projects, there is a knock at his door. One of the merchants on his staff works in with a report for him.

"Master Treasurer, I have my report from the Miners Guild. They have brought in another 50 units of stone and it has been placed in the storehouse facility to be used for the construction of the first barracks (Manor) here for the army. We currently have a total of 550 standard slabs of stone. There is nothing further to report, sir." Settozai nods to the merchant, which dismisses him to return to his duties.

Settozai walks over to a side table and makes a tally entry before he looks up and his assistant walks in. "Master, there is another report for you." Without looking up, Settozai waves for the next merchant to enter and tells his assistant to inform the others that he wants their reports as well. The assistant tells him that he will send word at once to the others. He closes the office door and the next Merchant reports, "Master Treasurer, I have just returned from meeting with both the Farmers' Guild and Fishermen's Guild. They produced a combined total of 1200 units of foodstuffs over the last week. The new slaves that the Yaksa acquired are working very hard both in the fields and at the coast. That brings our total to 2000 units of foodstuffs. I will have another report for you in a week." Settozai smiles at the sound of the slaves being useful, though the next report would be the most intriguing to him as it has the largest slave work force and the Carpenters' Report. The merchant is dismissed and Settozai is able to get some more work done.

The next report doesn't come for about an hour or so and it is indeed the Carpenters' Report. The merchant walks in and speaks, "As per your orders, Master, the second inn has been scrapped and all resources have been applied to the construction of our first Barracks. At the rate that our workers are working, we are expected to finish this one and be started on this one and working on the second Barracks in three days. If the Yaksa sends more slaves up here, we might be able to finish in 2 days instead. We will need to purchase more stone and wood soon, Master Treasurer. When is our next trade shipment from Tara Mura due in?" Settozai tells the Merchant that a shipment should be arriving tomorrow or the next day. He asks how the slaves are behaving and the Merchant responds, "There have been some disagreements over how things should be constructed, but they are coming together. The soldiers have been providing security and serving as a police force for us at the Barracks site. Do you want a full report tomorrow or just an update?" Settozai tells him that an update will suffice since there are no other projects currently underway. The Merchant nods and takes his leave.

As he walks out, the Deputy Treasurer enters the office with the final reports. "Master Settozai, I have the reports from the Traders' Guild and the weekly tribute collection figures. Our trade contracts brought in 2240 Shinny today. From all of our subordinate villages, we collected 3500 Shinny for this week's tribute for the Yaksa's benevolence and protection. The Traders' Guild have also recruited and welcomed some new merchants into their guild, and they have already begun contributing. Would you like help with any of the other reports, Master?" Settozai smiles at his deputy, who is more like an adopted protege and daughter to the Onisu spirit, and shakes his head. "I am fine. Make sure that everything is prepared to receive the next shipment from Tara Mura." She bows and goes to carry out his request as well as her miscellaneous duties as Deputy Treasurer.

Entry for 9-13-2010

The reports for today are dropped off with the Deputy Treasurer. She goes over the reports first looking at the expected production reports for stone. She has an abacus like device on one of her desks and she adds five pieces on the third row of the device with a marker labeled "Stone" grafted into it. The second report is an update regarding the progress of the Outpost Command Compound. It notes that there was an initial miscalculation of the time that it would take to complete the project as well as certain complications with the process. As such, the update requests additional slave labor be devoted to the Carpenters' Guild. The Deputy Treasurer writes up a swift response to the request:

"Inform the Carpenters that they have the largest work force of all of the guilds, so as such, they will need to make due with their sizable amount of labor capital. If they would truly like to put in such a request while the Divine One is currently waging a campaign to unify the island, they are welcome to put in a petition. I will add the matter to the agenda for the report to the Yaksa when he returns, but it will not be sooner. I look forward to your next report."

She takes the response down the hall to Settozai's office and he nods to her without even looking at it. She makes a disappointed face at him and he responds coyly, "Do I have any response to question your response to the Carpenters' Guild request for more workers? I did not think so either." The Deputy nods and informs him, "The Traders' Guild reports four new traders joining up and paying their membership fees in advance to contribute. Total revenue from commercial activity for today is 2320 Shinny. If you would like, I can get an update of the total amount of Shinny in the Treasury Coffers for you tomorrow." Settozai nods to her and tells her to keep up the good work.

Settozai's Treasury Office Empty
PostSubject: Re: Settozai's Treasury Office   Settozai's Treasury Office EmptyWed Sep 15, 2010 2:58 am

Entry for 9-14-10

This is the day that Settozai's protege and Deputy Treasurer, the financially brilliant young maiden, Sikke, goes on her round to actually visit each of the guilds. She picks a random day each week to see how things are really going and generally to listen to some concerns instead of just receiving a report from the Treasury Liaison. Settozai is preparing for the trade shipment from Tara Mura and coordinating with Dainos frequently as this is the first shipment from Mandira to Tara Mura to actually have the new medicinal teas, elixirs, and "healthy food condiments" that have Mandiran Ambrosia in them. The Traders' Guild is all pumped up and excited working on their sales pitches and practicing against one another for expected negotiations.

During normal circumstances, Settozai does the guild visits, but Sikke offered to step up and do them. Her first visit is to the Farmers Guild. She visits with the farmers and inspects their fertilizer, seed storage, and storage facilities for dry foodstuffs, meats and the Outpost Granary. They ask her to sample some of the new marinades and new grain strains that will be harvested and distributed next week. Most of the Farmers Guild's marinades seem to double as a sort of preservative. She gives them honest feedback letting them know that she likes most, really likes a couple of them, and thinks that there is a key flavor ingredient missing from 3 of them to really bring out the taste. They nod to her as she heads out to visit the next guild. The farmers get together to taste test the 3 lackluster marinades and figure out how to improve them. Even as competitive as the farmers are against one another, they will band together to prevent the guild from looking bad.

Next up is the Fishermen Guild. Her visit here is brief since Sikke does not like the smell of the dock or the Guild House. The Guild Leader informs her that they found some spots where they've been able to catch new types of fish that they weren't able to find before. "We have to figure out the optimal means of storage, cleaning, and cooking before we start selling them, but I figure we will be ready to distribute at least a couple new selections in two weeks. Unless Master Settozai needs us to get them out by next week?" Sikke smiles and shakes her head, "No, two weeks will be fine. I would rather you all be sure that it is safe and best prepared for its taste than to rush it for no reason. The people are not starving, so you are fine. The cooling room is still working properly, correct?" The Guild Leader nods and tells her that the room and its attendant have been superb. Sikke nods with a smile and tells him to keep up the good work.

Today's cave crew is actually returning to the guild when Sikke arrives, so she helps them catalogue the stone. She tours the guild house where the members have been staying and upon looking at some of the quarters, Sikke speaks with their Guild Leader in private. I am going to see what I can do about getting some more slaves to help speed up the carpenters construction projects so that they can expand the Guild Houses. He thanks her and gives her a small stone statue that the Miners had made for her that they were going to deliver thru their liaison with the report today. She thanks him before heading over to see the Carpenters at work.

Their Guild House is generally empty as most of them are always at the construction sites and working in the shops, either building or repairing things. The Carpenters are definitely one of the hardest working guilds in all of Mandira. Her tour sees them hard at work making good headway with the coming manor. She speaks with one of the project managers who tells her that they are back on schedule and that the Community Compound will be completed in three days. She tells asks him how many men would he need to get it done in two days and he says, "With 30 more men, I could get it down with no problem." Sikke nods and tells him that she will see what she can do b/c they gravely need to get improve housing for the other guilds. He tells her that he will inform the Guild Leader that plans should begin to start building for the other guilds. She smiles and thanks him for his understanding.

Her final visit is to the Traders Guild where she generally spends the first half of her day working from her office there. Today, she worked in reverse. When she arrives, the Traders Guild Leader provides her a report. She is hardest on the Traders because they are her own people. She looks over the report and asks if they have gained new recruits. The Guild Leader tells her that they have gained new recruits but that they are out on assignment at the moment and that their dues will be collected upon their return. Sikke nods and tells him that they need to push recruiting in the coming weeks. "We have big projects coming up and we need the funds to finance them. It does not matter how we do it, but get it done. The army is in training so we cannot utilize them as mercenary capital yet. Keep up the good work."

Settozai's Treasury Office Empty
PostSubject: Re: Settozai's Treasury Office   Settozai's Treasury Office EmptySat Sep 18, 2010 2:54 am

Entry for 9-17-10

Settozai returns from the trip to Tara Mura and he is in great spirits. Sikke is waiting in his office with the reports. First though, she asked how things went and he tells her, "They went wonderful and profitable. Tara Mura seems to really like the elixirs and once they start to notice the health benefits, they will continue to love and want it. Your favorite member of the Tara Mura Trade Council asked about you by the way and invited you to dinner. He asked that I give you this necklace as well." Settozai laughs and Sikke cringes. She was not in the least bit interested in a man that is old enough to be her father. Settozai and Sikke continue to catch up about the trip.

Once they conclude that portion of the conversation, Settozai asks for a progress report of the domestic projects. Sikke starts, "The Farmers and Fishermen are excited about new foods to distribute next week. The new Command Center Headquarters compound is practically finished, so the Yaksa will be able to move in there when he returns. I am expecting their messenger to arrive at any moment bringing word that the final inspections have been completed and that they are ready to move on to the next projects. The miners are working hard as expected, we are preparing to sell off some of gemstone surplus to bring in some extra revenue. The merchants have been doing well but Master, we truly need to increase the size of our merchant forces and improve our trade routes. At the very least, the villages on the island should be trading faster and easier amongst one another. We are going to need to hire skilled carpenters soon as well. For the true size of the Carpenters Guild that I believe we will need to serve the Yaksa's ambitions, I am going to need to funnel around 55,000 Shinny to our Slavers to get 400 more Carpenter laborers. With a work force of 800, we'll be able to build up an entire village in a matter of maybe two to three weeks time. They would be building 2 large housing facilities per day. The only way that we can raise those kind of funds is to increase the size of the Traders Guild or put mercenaries on our payroll and keep them hired out." Settozai just smiles at his protege's excitement and passion. He tells her that that drive and focus will be an asset and help her elevate in the eyes of the Yaksa. When she hears that, her eyes light up at his approval. He tells her to come and let him now when she gets the rest of the report. She nods and welcomes him back home.

Entry for 9-18-10

A messenger arrives at Sikke's office out of breath and she looks at him curiously. Looking him over, she notices the satchel on his side has the official Traders Guild insignia on it but she realizes that she has never seen this "teenage" (by Yochi Furi standards) boy before. "Is there something that I can help you with?" The boy nods, "Yes, Lady Deputy or Deputy... Lady?" Sikke giggles at his nervousness and speaks to calm him, "Sikke. You may call me Sikke. I'm not a big fan of titles and I'm just the Deputy Treasurer anyway. I am going to guess that you're new, huh?" He nods sheepishly. "Yes, Miss Sikke. I was told to collect up the reports from the Carpenters Guild and the Traders Guild and bring them to you. Oh and to let you know that the Miners' second shift returned with more stone." She smiles and asks if he knows what the Carpenters' next project is. He tells her that they have already completed the first of the medium sized housing facilities and started on the second one. Sikke inquires about why they are building medium housing facilities instead large ones and the boy shrugs. "I do not know Miss Sikke. Would you like me to go ask?" She shakes her head and tells the boy to come with her. He looks a little worried like he just got himself or someone else in trouble.

Sikke walks down to Settozai's office and enters angrily. "Master, the Carpenters are building Medium size housing facilities instead of the large housing facilities like they were told to do. We cannot allow them to use resources without authorization." Settozai snickers then says, "I knew I forgot to tell you something. You authorized them to build the smaller grade houses. With the current size of the Carpenters Guild work force, they can build 2 medium facilities per day, which can house 20 family units per day versus the larger facilities which allow for housing 5 less every day. It does increase consumption by 50 standard logs per day, which equates to 50 shinny extra per family that gets to sleep sooner than later. By the end of 5 days, you house 25 more people building smaller units together into bigger facilities. So they build in phases. It generally takes 2 and a half days to finish an entire facility. I got the idea from the Yaksa." Sikke scowls at Settozai and he just smiles at her and teasingly tells her that if she keeps doing that her face will get stuck like that and make her grow old quicker. Settozai thanks the boy and tells him to get back to his deliveries. He nods and takes off. "He's so full of energy!" The Onisu smiles as Sikke grrr's him and walks off.

Entry for 9-19-10
Settozai is out and about in the Outpost observing the development of one of the first stable, permanent communities. It seems that every day, another 20 units are built and prepared. The sort of mind meld between the Onisu and myself has been quite valuable. He and I were sharing thoughts and the housing situation arose, so we compared and contrasted our ideas until he confirmed that the smaller units could be produced faster at a minimal cost increase. As the second and third facilities are completed, Settozai smiles at the achievement before noticing that construction of medium housing facility 4 has begun and is about 20% complete.

Back at the Treasury Office, Sikke's new messenger brings her the stone report and tells her that the first of two Tara Mura wood shipments has arrived. Sikke nods and instructs, "Go to the storehouse and tell our merchants to give the Tara Mura merchants 500 units of gem stone in exchange for the 1000 units of wood. The boy runs off and Sikke goes over the total revenue gained from yesterday as reported by the Traders Guild and it totals 2500 Shinny. Sikke prepares to compile all totals when she has to stop as the results from the Food Guilds comes in. "1200 units of foodstuffs and the new foods are selling pretty quickly at the local inns, so it's looking good on that front.

The "Tribute Merchant" finds Settozai out in the village and brings word of the latest count of the most recent tribute delivery. Settozai smiles as the village brings in another 3500 Shinny from the subordinate villages that pay tribute for the benevolence and protection shown to them. With all production accounted for, Settozai returns to his office waiting to hear an overall report of the past week's progress.

"Sikke!" The shout comes from the Treasurer's office. Settozai's assistant walks into his office and informs him that the Deputy Treasurer is currently in a meeting. Settozai asks for an update on the reports and Sikke's teenage messenger boy rushes down the hall towards Settozai's office. He bursts into the office, "Sorry I'm late, Master Treasurer. I have the reports. The Miners had an accident at the caves, which caused a slight delay in the receipt of their report but I have all of them now. The Miners Guild turned in the usual 50 stone to the Bank. Mistress Sikke's last update received from the Slaver Corps is expecting us to have 50 more miners soon. Next up is the Carpenters Guild. Their report states that Medium Housing Facilities 4 & 5 are now complete and they have begun working on Facility 6 as we speak. They are still working feverishly to prepare the expansion of the Guild Houses as well, but stated that housing communities were listed as their top priority by the Office. Currently, there are no slave requests for an increase in manpower. I believe they are so overwhelmed by the kindness shown by the Treasury Office to get the increased manpower that they have now that they are content. As for the Traders Guild, I have 2500 Shinny in my satchels that I am taking over to The Bank now but I stopped to deliver the report that I was sort of supposed to deliver an hour ago, so I am sorry. Our current coffers are looking superb, Mistress Sikke says. She wanted to have a full updated inventory of the Bank but her meetings have run long today. She will do her best to get those to you tomorrow, Master Treasurer." The boy exhales deeply and Settozai smiles. "That just saved me from having to review all of those reports. Now, that gives my assistant something to do. Thank you. Carry on with your duties." The messenger hands the reports off to the assistant and dashes out of the office and back down the hall.

Entry for 9-21-10
A middle aged man, around 90 years old, walks into the Treasury Office and drops off a gift basket with Settozai's assistant and leaves a scroll that thanks him for the completion of Medium Housing Facility 7 which his family just moved into today. Settozai calls for Sikke to come to his office. The messenger boy arrives with the Miners Guild report. Settozai speaks with little enthusiasm, "They brought in 50 stone yet again?" The boy nods and says, "But today, they brought in some really nice stones. The boy dashes off and Sikke walks in moments later.

"You called for me, Master?" Settozai nods to her and tells her that he wants her to send word to the Slavers Team that he wants the 50 miners delivered within the next few days or he's canceling their contract. She nods to him and he tells her that they need a lot more houses to provide for everyone, so he wants her to also tell them to get more carpenter labor as well. At least 100 new slaves, tho he would prefer 200 more in order to increase production to 3 medium housing facilities per day. She tells him that 250 total slaves might be difficult. He tells her to get as close as she can and that he is working on recruiting more merchants from the neighboring coastal villages on the mainland side of things. We need to improve trade routes to the other villages, especially Sai Village and Hejar. They are gateways to the rest of the villages. Hejar dominates the desert and Sai Village is the hub of the realm. She nods to him and tells him that with the latest deposit from the Traders Guild, she will do her best to land beneficial pricing to secure the bulk orders.

Sikke walks into Settozai's office as the Slaver Liaison walks out of the building. She reports to her Master. "First the usual, Miners brought in 100 Stone today." She pauses as he looks up and she nods to him. "They got the miners and for a very good price. 114.5 Shinny per slave. Since we have been trading away our stone for wood, we can almost stay ahead of our wood consumption. The Carpenters have begun construction on Medium Housing Facility 10. The Liaison is aware that you want them looking for more carpenter workers, so that is their focus now that they are finished with the miners." Settozai nods and tells her that he completed the Guild Inspections for this week and with the housing projects moving so frequently, people are very happy about the progress and that has the guilds working even harder now. The Traders Guild is reporting that they are having problems with some of their mainland trade routes heading towards Sai Village and its core area. Sikke asks if they should suspend runs that direction and Settozai tells her that he is waiting for my return to decide officially what to do but Mandira is no longer sending its own merchants on the specified trails. "Speaking of the Traders Guild tho, some of our other routes have proved even more lucrative as of late, so they are able to make their deposits without any problems or delays." Sikke smiles and tells Settozai that she is almost finished with the balancing of the Bank's ledgers. He tells her that he will review it whenever she finishes it. With business done, the two change gears to chit chat.

Settozai's Treasury Office Empty
PostSubject: Re: Settozai's Treasury Office   Settozai's Treasury Office EmptyFri Oct 01, 2010 7:43 pm

Entry for 10-1-10

With all of my operations moving from the Outpost to the Ruins, Sikke, Settozai's protege and the current Deputy Treasurer of Mandira, would be taking a larger role here at the Outpost as it would become a rather hidden away and well guarded reserve and research location. I would be leaving Dainos here as well for a while since he liked his setup and the climate here for ambrosia production. In order to promote his protege to be able to venture out on her own, Settozai recommends that the Outpost serve as a primary vault and reserve location for my territory instead of moving all of our goods to the Capital.

Settozai is currently working with the carpenters on a "black ops" project to create a treasury facility with a vault like structure that can be sealed against attack or when under attack. The primary Carpenters are busy building housing facilities in the Capital still. There is a seemingly constant motion of revitalization in the Capital. The Labor Merchants are expected to bring in another crew of slaves. I want to have a carpenter force of roughly 800 carpenters and builders to expedite the construction of my strongholds. Settozai and Sikke are working diligently to make that happen.

On the agricultural front, the farmers bring in quite the bountiful harvest totaling 1200 standard units of food. Most of it is being moved to the Capital until we can get fishing crews sent out, a cooling mage and facility put in place in the Capital and farm fields tended. There is much to be done before the Capital is fully operational and ready to be unveiled to the public.

The slaves working in the mines have been exploring the caves around the Capital, but it would seem that the caves by the Outpost have better quality deposits to be mined, so I think the Miners Guild will remain based at the Outpost. Another deposit of 100 stone in the treasury bank.

Settozai collects the tribute payments as well. Still planning out the blueprints for his new building in the Capital, he figures that he will need an office and aide specific to handling tributes from the smaller villages that have been brought under the protection and guidance of my wings.

Sikke is preparing to take over operations here at the Outpost once Settozai moves to the Capital. To prepare for the big shift, the merchants have been moving around the region like wildfire trying to get the smaller villages ready for the big shift in mercantile production and distribution. The current contracts are set to expand even further. The upcoming plan is to expand ambrosia usage in the coastal territories while Dainos is still working with the farmers to increase mass production volume. Sikke meets with all of the guild liaisons at once to prepare them for the coming changes. The miners report that the increased manpower is allowing them to bring in enough stone to ensure that we can continue a stone for wood trading exchange with Tara Mura and the smaller villages that lack stone quarries but tells her that the current optimal number of miners would be a force of 150 workers as it takes 150 units of wood, so they would bring in enough stone to trade for 2 housing facilities to be built every day. She nods to them and tells the Labor Merchants to look into purchasing 50 more miner slaves. The Carpenters' Liaison reports that they are housing 20 families every day they have supplies to work. She tells him that she is working to increase the size of their work force again as I want to expedite the rate of production of housing facilities. I suppose I would definitely need to increase the miner work force before increasing the carpenter labor force so that we can produce enough stone to cover the growth. Sikke hears all of the reports and tells the Traders Guild that they need to focus on recruiting and growing our coffers to cover the costs of slave purchases. "Every guild needs the other, so we must step up our efforts if we are to achieve the goals of the Master. Our operations here will continue and we need to be ready and able to perform." They nod and agree with her as she goes into detail of laying out her plan.

Business continues as usual as Settozai accompanies Kiera and the healer mystics from the Outpost to the Capital of Taja Mandira. The infirmary at the Outpost would remain operation with a staff of healers and "nurses" to aid with matters of health there. Construction of the primary Hospital has been underway as one of the primary projects to be completed prior to citizens of Mandira being moved into the Capital.

When the convoy from the Outpost arrives in Taja, Kiera is shocked when they pull up to the Hospital site and find that the Carpenters had completed the rather large facility. She notes that there is enough space for probably 20 full families to be held and treated in the hospital which made it ideal in case of a siege on the capital. (Two Medium Housing Facilities) Settozai leaves Kiera and her acolytes to begin their work and preparations. He continues and receives a report from the merchants that have been working to set up the Grand Treasury House of Mandira, which is a banking facility that would allow Settozai the ability to manage all assets flowing thru the island from one primary location. He would create accounts for the people to hold their wealth and reduce pickpocketing and robberies. It would also build bartering and negotiating skills amongst the citizenry so that outside merchants couldn't cheat them b/c they would be well practiced. Just the funds from the miners who are paid for their work provide substantial capital and the first deposit from the Traders Guild is made into the GTHM. Settozai also brings 200 units of wood with him that was bartered for 100 units of stone that was mined from the northern caves by the Outpost.
