‘Take your girl on a night out, on me,’ where the words that had come from my uncle with a deceptive smile. Though I was trying to ease my way out of working for him and his yakuza, I knew that it would look back to turn down his generosity. It sucked for me that he put the pieces together and found out that my girl friend was none other than the rock idol of the Death Devils. It seemed he realized that my mother and I didn’t need to depend on him anymore thanks to Natsuki and now he was attempting to play this role he was currently on. Still, that series of events led up to tonight; the night where I would be taking Natsuki out on one of the first dates we’ve been on in a while.

At the moment I stood outside of Natsuki’s large home in the circle drive way before the house’s front entrance wearing a black suit and a white collared shirt underneath; there was no tie as the top button would be undone. My hands would be in my pockets as I stood in front of a long black luxury sedan, compliments of my uncle, next to the driver with my hands in my pockets. The driver would have been one of the Yakuza grunts stuck with this gig in an effort to get into my uncle’s good graces. He was dressed nicely with slicked back hair but a tough guy look about his face. After standing side by side with me, he asks, “so how long you think it’ll take her to come out?” I shrug. He looks to me and asks, “have you knocked on the door yet?” I shake my head. He frowns, “don’tcha think you should do that?” I blink, “oh! Yeah, that’s right. She might not know we’re out here!” I vaguely hear what sounds like ‘ijot’ as I make my way to her door and knock on it. I didn’t -think- I was late, or rather I hoped that I wasn’t.

I smile as the door is opened and am confused as it is closed again. “Eto…” I pause there with my only indication for what was going on being that Natsuki would be with me soon. I hear the sound of her heels before the door opens and I see the stunning young lady that I had the pleasure of getting to pleasure from time to time. My face showed that I was impressed with how she looked, and I step back as she steps out. Returning her sentiments, I counter, “you look… very pretty like this…” A glance to the car would reveal the driver standing by the passenger door with it opened and waiting on us to enter it. I would offer Natsuki my hand and escort her to the car. The back of the car would be larger than a normal car, but not as big as a full limo. It would still have the basics, such as comfortable leather seats, music, television, drinks and such. There was an optional sunroof as well that could be opened up. I would allow Natsuki to get in first and would follow behind her in getting into the car. While in thi transitional period, I would comment, “I hope you’re hungry. Still it’s kind of unexpected seeing you like this.”

When asked about the car, I kind of look to the side and chuckle it off. It didn’t cost me anything, but then again, she didn’t actually need to know that. The driver bows and greets, “welcome” as we get in. It seemed he had transitioned from tough guy to escort in the blink of an eye. I nod as I pass him with a grin thinking ‘pretty good.’ As Natsuki gets into the car with her back to him, his face twists looking at me with the generic Yakuza ‘what are you looking at, I’m bad’ look on his face. I wince slightly and give him an odd look before I get back in. “Punk” he murmurs lightly before speaking softly and now audibly, “please enjoy the ride.” With that he closes the door behind Natsuki and me. Answer her question, I say, “No, actually you dressed pretty good for where we’re going. The car starts to pull away and make the circle around Natsuki’s drive way to head back out the gate to the main road. I comment, “I figured I would take you somewhere nicer than The Ramen Booth because… you kind of deserve that kind of stuff now. You’re rich and famous. And I’m…” My voice fades as I gaze shifts to the window as I continue, redirecting what I was going to say, “I mean, you’re so far away from the level that we were in high school.” With a faux smile, I say, “if I can’t at least do this, then there’s no reason for you to stay with me.”

The car pauses at the gate and waits for it to open before it slowly pulls out and into the street heading for our destination. As I ride, I listen to my girlfriend who seemed to be in a good mood. When her tone changes in response to mine, I felt bad for pulling down the mood; I was doing this so that she could have fun after all, so I knew I needed to shape up. With her answer, I grin and turn my head towards her slightly, teasing, “well at least in this big ass house you have people to clean up after you… since you’re not domesticated or anything like Akera.” I would chuckle lightly with this expecting to get punched in the process. I would change my tone to attempt to make this night as happy as possible for her.

I wince at the claws being dug into my thigh and give a forced smile with a “sorry” to the statements that I made. My eyes widen a bit at the mention of liking Akera more than her. “That’s silly…” I say before turning to the side and poking my index fingers together, explaining, “we’re just childhood friends. There’s nothing like that between us. I think of her like a little sister.” I mean there was that time that we kissed, but that was only that one time and it sounded like she moved on from that. My stomach turns as I am told that I would have to eat cookies; oh hell. “Oh!” I attempt to change the subject as I motion towards the drinks in the back of the car, “would you like something to drink?” I myself was a light weight, so one drink and I was gone, but for the night I would at least try to hold my own if she was open to the idea. I didn’t know if it was appreciate to drink on the way to a restaurant, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to ask.

“Heh,” I chuckle awkwardly as she leans into me. With her comments, I think about it for a bit and attempt to think of Natsuki playing the role of a little sister type. Still thinking about her in a school uniform acting super innocent brought a goofy grin to my face. I’m snapped from my stupor when she accepts the drink and I realize that I had no clue how to make a drink. My gaze snaps up as my eyes narrow to the rear view mirror of the driver. Sensing my manly presence his eyes snap to the mirror as he confirms eye contact and mental male lock. We would call upon the GAR power of talking through our expressions! A form of language even more advanced then telepathy!

My eyebrow shifts a bit to convey the thought, 'she accepted my drink proposal, now as a man help me! How do I mix drinks?’ The driver lifts his fist to his mouth and coughs, which obviously meant, ‘you call yourself a man? What type of man doesn’t know how to mix drinks?’ I twitch my nose once, non verbally saying, ‘I don’t normally drink; my path of man does not include inebriation.’ The driver blinks, assuring, ‘you didn’t look like you drunk, you’re still a boy after all. Don’t worry, that’s champagne, you don’t mix it, you just pour it in the fancy glasses with the long stems like a rose.’ My finger brushes my cheek as if to say, ‘ah, I see. Thank you for your assistance in this matter, my good man.’

These actions of communication would only take about 3 seconds worth of time in the real world. Leaning forwards, I grab two wine glasses within my right hand and pick up the wine bottle in the other. I hand her a glass keeping one for myself, and sitting it in the fancy drink holder to my side. I move to open the champagne, but it didn’t look like it twisted open. My eyes widen and snap back to the driver’s rear view mirror, ‘shit! This item is odd! It doesn’t open like a soda!’ The driver rubs his face, saying with his actions, ‘omg.’ Speaking out loud during this process, I answer Natsuki’s teasing, having vaguely heard it within my mental conflicts, “the noodle shack.” Of course we weren’t actually going to a place called the Noodle Shack, but it would be my way of returning her tease.

I frown slightly when the joke is taken another way. Noodle shack? After thinking about it, it did seem like a pretty gay name. I wondered if that was the name of a place that Izuya would frequent on a regular basis. Still the accusations were unfair; Kaito and I -were- peeking at the swim team… or rather he was and I was just making sure that no one caught him while taking the occasional 2 minute glances just to balance out with him. Either way, the champagne bottle is retrieved from my grip and I watch as she opens it without a problem. ‘So that’s how it’s supposed to be done,’ I think inwardly to myself. My worst case scenario would have been to karate chop the top off; I saw it in one of Natsuki’s mangas once, so I knew it probably had to be possible. Following the directions I fill both of our glasses about half way and then pass bubbly to her while retaining a glass of my own. After giving her glass to her, my gaze shifts down to the half filled wine glass as I figure the best way to drink it would be all at once, so with that thought in mind, since she said it was like soda, I lean my head back and chug it. My head rocks forwards when I was finished, my face a bit scrunched from the taste of alcohol. ‘That didn’t taste good at all? And people pay big money for this?’ I think to myself. Looking to her, perfectly sober -for now- I chuckle, “I think I like soda better.” The countdown on the ticking time bomb had begun, and almost on cue, the driver announces “we’re almost there. We’ll be pulling up shortly.”
